  1. Its been awhile since I listened to OMWH...to any music actually...

so now here I am listening to The Real Me...and I am tearing up...

Iseeme...the way he is singing in the first verse is more interpretation really, he sings it softly to convey his feelings, like he is whispering it cos it is something very personal. This is actually very difficult to do specially with these high notes...cos the notes need to be supported but with a very gentle touch. That is why I love it when he goes to the chorus the first time...But you see the real me...wow when I try that, its really hard to maintain those notes. Specially in the word Frailty...he just cuts it off and makes it sound so vulnerable...wow...goose bumps.

I have mixed feelings about the fact that for Clay...this is about God...Its great that he has such faith that he always feel confident that there is someone who loves him for who he is, that he can turn to his faith for this acceptance. On the other hand...this is the kind of relationship that we would all love to have...does not need to be with a romantic partner...but with a friend, a parent, or family...I do hope he has people that he can be totally be himself and can love and accept him for who he is.

Sonically....I love the melody...the piano is great...but I do feel that it goes a but OTT with the strings on some parts. But he really gives a fantastic vocal performance on this, he goes from this soft contemplative voice...to his booming voice...it seems very seamless...

  2. Oh yeah Lizzybutts...I think we were sitting together with couchie and another fan whose board name is escaping me right now. I remember having a lot of fun that night with you guys cos you knew how to just partah in that table...hee!

glad to see you here...hope you like it and looking forward to getting to know you better.

  3. Well I will disagree Play...I think this was just someone wanting to used a lovely song to depict this story. Now its out...I think its up to CLAY to ask it to get taken down because the fans saying it should get taken down is another person speaking for him. It suggests that Clay will object to this and we don't know how Clay feels about it so fans shouldn't presume to speak for him. I personally loved it. The song is about love and those pictures are a good way of depicting that story. IF Clay objects then HE can do something about it just as Sprinsteen did. The fans political leanings have nothing to do with Clay so I hope his fans won't let their politics reflect on him. Now your example about PETA is not really the same because we know Clay has had an issue with PETA....we don't know how he feels about Obama. As far as I can see...this is a great way to promote Clay's music.

About Kelly...I also wouldn't be surprised if she does this. She has also talked about how she likes to go nude at times.

  4. YAY I got caught up on this thread!!!!

geesh...finally I can contribute to the topics...

first of all...welcome to the newbies...there are a few new members and I hope they all post and say hi...

Board angst...WORD to Jennaz as usual. I do think the boards would be angsting right now just because there is nothing new from Clay...its another drought and that is never good for morale. Then you have boards that have different cultures...boards that pride themselves on being critical...boards that are very maternal towards Clay that are constantly worried about him...boards whose focus is on his career, so everything is analyzed and criticized to death unless Clay is suddenly selling platinum again. Here in FCA...our board culture is right there in the banner...we like to play and have fun. So we don't focus on the negative...we acknowledge it ...we discuss it..just not go on and on about it.

funny moments....well I love that bit on NAT when he starts..."Humping" this girl...and he kinda shocked himself...and they just kept laughing through out.

so many funny moments really...what a joy he is!!!

Pomme frites...I love them...specially with mussels.

OK...here i Quebec...we have Poutine...which is fries with cheese curds or mozarella....with hot chicken gravy all over. Then the many roadside canteens has stretched that idea with all kinds of toppings...like spaghetti sauce...barbecue sauce...chicken and gravy...and the one that I find most unusual...fries with coleslaw, chicken, then gravy on top...

  5. (((Muski and carrie)))

I know its tough...I have had a lot of drama too in the last few months with my girls specially since we got back to the Philippines. I just keep telling myself that they are simply trying to test the limits...be more independent ....differentiate themselves from me....but its not easy. Whatever things you read or know about this age...once you are faced with your defiant teen you can;t help feeling all helpless at times. take care and keep us posted....

  6. OK, I need to make up for that post...

I took a short break and listened to OMWH with "fresh ears" today and my new top 3 songs are OMWH, FIEKY and GOG. My previous top 3 were Ashes, Falling and SL. I was completely into Ashes before but I think it was only because I burned out on listening to OMWH between the time the single and the album were released.

Anyone care for a 3-on-3 game? If you could only take a very teensy mp3 player with you on a v. long trip (think Mars or Space Station), and you could put 6 songs on it: 3 Clay Aiken songs and 3 non-Clay ones, which would you pick?

(KAndre is complaining, "why can't I sneak in a flash drive?" -- because what I'm really asking for are your top 3 Clay Aiken songs and your top 3 non-Clay Aiken songs)

ETA: omg, I killed the board!

WOW thats a tough challenge. The clay songs...LAA, TRD...aaaaand....AAAAAARGH...this is torture...

    top three songs?

ok...I'll get back to you on that...

we should give a prize to the first one that gives their list WITHOUT CHEATING...yup I;m looking at you KAndre....

  7. Home from birthday supper...the family went to a pasta bar...and its really interesting how each of our pasta kinda reflects our personalities.

but haven;t really had much time for myself in the last week and summer is just starting...

miss y'all...miss not getting into the discussion...specially about the music. Will try to join in this weekend cos tomorrow need to be in school again...

  8. And ladies...I've found my couple to root for...

    Joshua and Katee...

    whoo hooooo

AWWW I love them too...I just love Katee's face she was so joyous and Joshua...wow, what versatility. I hope they can keep it up even when they get a ballroom dancing routine.

They better watch out for the Will pimping. I really like the guy and I think he deserves it but they gotta think that they can't turn off the viewing public or else it will back fire. This happened with Danny last year and he ended up in the bottom almost every week.

I also love Twitch and Kerrington.

  9. (((gbmifan))) hope everything turns out ok...all good vibes and prayers to you.

GAH...hardly anytime again to catch up...I think I am 15 pages behind...

I always liked GOG...I kinda like the disconnect between the the theme and the tempo...its a bit unusual.

CG...I like the evironmental paragraph but I understand the change cos the current paragraph is more in line with what he does with UNICEF.

I wish I can comment on these songs more but I haven;t listened to music in a bit...been engrossed with audiobooks...listening to the whole Dune series and it can be quite intense.

I hope I can catch up but tomorrow is another busy day with family day at the school..

  10. COUCHIE

    :7254:

Sorry about the Lakers lost last night...there is always next year...

    Have a great day!!!

I see I'm back just in time and I missed a great discussion on Clay and his music and various different parts???

Been working on a couple of video montages for my girls school and I only started this weekend so I needed to give it my full attention. But in the end I was very happy with the outcome. The graduation will be this afternoon and the girls are going to be half day with friends coming over so I don;t know if I will be able to catch up.

Right now I need to catch up on chores and laundry...

SO ... I still might not be able to make extensive comments but I love FIEKY ...there was a time that the dissonance kinda threw me a bit...but I get it now and it just keeps playing in my mind.

Thanks to all for making this a fun board to check into the past three days...you were all just very chatty!!! But keep it up!!

  11. I hope no one will be upset with this question. I guess I just don't see Clay asking his friend to have a baby because he wants one.

I agree. I just can't imagine him asking a good friend to risk her health to provide him with a child. I can imagine him agreeing to help a good friend conceive. And if this child is more for Jaymes than for himself, I can see him allowing her to raise the child primarily.

I know Clay loves kids. I'm sure he would love to have his own child. To me, that doesn't mean that he could not accept a situation in which he was not the primary caretaker. Now honestly, if Jaymes chose him, it's likely she wanted him heavily involved. If she just needed sperm, she could have gone to a bank. However, IMHO, that doesn't mean that he is to be an equal parent. I wouldn't think any less of him if he were more of a "godfather" than a "father," someone who was loved by the child, who spent time with the child, but who ultimately would only bear primarily responsibility in the event of the mother's death or incapacity.

I do wonder if the child was never meant to be known or publicized as his child. It would be a lot easier for him or her if he wasn't. If the world hadn't known it was his, he or she could live a less complicated, more anonymous life. Personally, I could see Clay not publicizing his child if he felt it would protect him. Perhaps Clay's refusing to comment now in the hope that people won't believe he's the father.

However, now most people do believe it. For better or worse, this child will be treated as Clay Aiken's child, not just by the press, but by nearly everyone. If it's not true, would Clay allow this innocent to face all this added scrutiny simply because he didn't feel like commenting? I'm not so sure.

I also wonder if they're keeping quiet because the child hasn't been born yet. Just as some couples don't announce a pregnancy until after the first tri-mester in case there's a miscarriage, perhaps they don't want to discuss the baby until he or she is actually delivered.

But we all have our personal perceptions of who he is and is not. I know some cannot accept that he'd be anything but a full-time father. I respect that opinion, but personally, I don't find a "godfather" role wrong or inconsistent with how I see him. YMMV

This is exactly the scenario I was thinking. Thanks for clarifying.

But we all have our personal perceptions of who he is and is not. I know some cannot accept that he'd be anything but a full-time father. I respect that opinion, but personally, I don't find a "godfather" role wrong or inconsistent with how I see him. YMMV

The reason I'm thinking the way I am is because of what I know of his relationship to Vernon and lord knows it's miniscule and completely different from this scenario. Forget the media and paparazzi..explaining part time status to a child is a hard thing to do no matter what the reasons. But, I'll be able to accept it if it's the case because it's ultimately HIS life and his choice to make and has no bearing on my life. It will just be another one of those..oh god he surprised me moments. Clay has turned many different situations into his kind of "family" so I have no doubt he'd make it work. The one thing I am sure of is that they both would have crossed every t and dotted every i and had it notarized in triplicate. Hmmm..or maybe no. Hey Clay..need a notary? I'm free any time :cryingwlaughter:

ETA: Damn that was edited to death!! Nice to see you JennaZ!!

    ETA IIT IIU

does anybody else still go WTF every once in awhile when even talking about this whole thing?

    IIT IIU once more.

YUP everything is just speculation. But I think Clay knows that what made Vernon a bad father was not because he didn't live with him but how he treated Clay when they were together. On the other hand...he also had a father figure that lived with them but was very tough on him. So in a way I can see him recognizing that what makes a relationship good is the quality of time together not how much time they spend. But...WHO KNOWS!!! whatever they intended...that is not possible now.

I guess we will have to wait for him to write another best seller about his life...

  12. Jaycee...the one scenario that I find hardest to believe is that Clay wanted a child and asked Jaymes to be the "vessel". jmh pointed it out at one time...asking a 50 year old woman is not the most effective way to have a child because of the uncertainties and the danger to the woman to carry a child at this age. I just don;t think he would put her in danger that way if its just him that wanted a child. I can understand the scenario of Clay agreeing to help her conceive. JennaZ also suggested the scenario that this could've been something they were supposed to keep secret and Clay was supposed to act as a very active "godfather" to the child. This does not mean he wouldn't be involved but that his involvement will be kept quiet. With the amount he travels anyway and how they are always around each other...that could mean Clay would still be the main father figure of the child.

But of course these are all speculations but without any real info...I just can't see why fans would think it was Clay that wanted the child and he would use Jaymes in this way.

  13. ITA Muski....IF the goal right now is to keep everything quiet for Jaymes and the baby until she give birth...then the best tactic is silence from them. Any official word and they will be bombarded by the media to say more more more.

I really don;t understand the people who are demanding he speaks so that they can rejoice with him...thats sounds great and all...but at this point that is not what he seem to need right now. I think his silence means...just settle down folks and give us some peace at this time.

I don;t blame him if he just wants to forget all about the media, the fans and have sometime to recharge his energy as he planned to do all along during this time.

  14. I always hesitate to put any judgement on what Clay is doing because I don;t know what his personal goal is. I think the fans that constantly get upset at what he is doing...are feeling like that because his actions or decisions do not jive with their goal of making him a superstar.

ITA Iseeme about the baby possibly impacting on his decisions IIT and I totally don't blame him if he did. He has his priorities and I trust that he is doing what is best for himself and his team and he is the only one that gets to determine what is best according to his own personal goals...not the fans goals.

BTW...please don;t start giving memorials for OMWH when they only released one song from that CD that is still slowly climbing the charts. We also knew that he was going to be on vacation...again he gets to determine if he needs it or not...so this silence is expected and I bet TC factored it in when they planned the promotion.

  15. Thayne and Chelsea - HOT! whew.... that girl is ...ummm energetic. whoo hooo

Courtney is one of my favorites from the auditions.

Enjoyed Mia Michaels routine for Chelsie and Mark.

eeeee Twitchington..I thought they were great.

Loved Katee and Joshua..Foolish girl almost talked herself right off the show last week.

Yup that was really good...can't figure out who my favorite is and who will be leaving. I liked all the routines and even Miami hootchie teacher transformed herself into an elegant ballroom dancer.

Love this show! everyone is talented...no one is there just for show although I'm sure they tried to bring in a good variety so there are different levels of competence for different styles...but everyone just gives it their all. I love the choreography too.

YUP...love Cat...such a real person and just totally relaxed in her skin...and the judges certainly care and are more knowledgeable that some judges in other reality shows.
