  1. For anyone who might be interested, there is an interesting article at CNN about the plight of Afghani women: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/05/0...omen/index.html And it also says that there is a related special on Anderson Cooper 360 tonight at 11 pm. I plan to watch it while I wait for Kimmel to come on.
  2. Oh, I'm right there with you on this wish! Wouldn't that just be awesome? He's never done DLTSGDOM in a solo concert (except on time on Stump the Band) so it wouldn't be a repeat.....and like you say, an Elton medley (or any Elton song, since I luuuuurves me some Elton) would be fantastic! Claygasm, I have been a George Harrison fan since my teens. I have all his music on my iPod along with Clay's. Welcome, Gibby! OK, bring on the Kimmel reports! I'm ready! (Is anyone here attending? If not, cut and paste will do. ) :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  3. Well, at least you're being reasonable, and not kidnapping it and putting it under the bed. I'm sure we can work something out. I really disliked the Richard Marx version, so it was probably my least anticipated song on ATDW when we got the track listing. But from the first notes I was a goner. This song just has the ability to pick me up when I'm feeling down, and there aren't a lot of songs out there that I can say that about. Here Comes The Sun by the Beatles (well, George Harrison) does it as well.
  4. Not caught up yet, but I wanted to drop off this link to a cute AI2 Clay montage. I thought it was fitting, after we were discussing our favourite AI2 songs earlier.
  5. Happy belated birthday to Clayzorback and anyone else I have missed in the last little while. Also, long overdue {{{hugs}}} to merrieeee - so glad to hear your eye surgery went well. *puts on bling covered boxing gloves* Fight! I thought those were MY songs. Ah...maybe I should take off the gloves...as long as no one attempts to take HYCA from me, I'm cool. And everyone can just STEP AWAY from Right Here Waiting becoss it's mine all mine! Wow, trying to choose my favourite song from AI2 is like asking me to choose between my children. I love them all. I'm probably in the minority who would love it if he sang some of them on tour. My sentimental favourite has to be Solitaire, because that was the performance that really knocked my socks off and opened my eyes to what a great talent he had....but I also have a soft spot for TITN and the way he performed it the first time....complete with what I call the "wild" eyes afterwards. He was just over the moon that night. I was so happy for him, having a song to call his own. I would love it if we got some more info on the tour tomorrow, when he appears on Kimmel. I've read some conflicting reports around different boards about Quiana, Angela & Felix, and whether or not they have bookings that conflict with Clay's tour schedule. However, I'm cool with whatever he wants to talk about. I can't wait to find out what he and Jimmy have in store for us this time.
  6. Shit! He's going to be less than 5 hours from here.....tomorrow night! I wish I'd known earlier and could have made plans to be there. That seems to be the only stop on his tour anywhere near here.
  7. Wheeeee! You will really enjoy it! I couldn't put it down. And if I was anywhere near SF, I'd have been there. I won't go quite that far, but I don't think it is the *best song ever written and recorded* like I've read elsewhere. I also doubt it would have succeeded on the radio any more than ATD did. I think it's a lovely song, but I'm not holding my breath until he sings it in concert.....because I am not so sure that he will. If he does, cool!
  8. Heh. We have great orchestras here in Canada, too. Just sayin'. No matter where he tours in winter, I am gonna have to drive through the snow to get there. C'est la vie. See ya there, ldyjocelyn? You read my mind. That book had such a profound impact on me, too. I really hope others will read it if they do take Clay's words in the interview this morning to heart. Three Cups of Tea. I'd be amazed if Clay hasn't read it.
  9. From Notacanuck at CH: This is Friday, November 30th, Clay's birthday. And it's only 4 hours from meeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
  10. Me too. This has been a great few months. We've had intermittent appearances and clack, we've had all the excitement of ticket sales and tour planning, and we're already less than two months from the first night of the tour. Low energy my ass. :Tour3: Hey, geekette!!! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  11. Hee. *sheepishly raises hand* Well, between me and the rest of my group, we got 8 reserved seats (which is exactly how many we needed). I lucked into a few in section 2, but the rest are in the two outside sections (and read "possible obstructed view"). None of them are near the front. I think, as much as some people are complaining about it, that many people dumped these type of seats back and tried for better. I was very patient on both sale days and grabbed what I could find.
  12. I will have a look through when I get home tonight and let you know what's there. Those are perfect in some instances!
  13. Thanks for the emoticon, playbiller! I enjoy all the bits and pieces people bring over here, so thanks for that too. I have a key to the CV vault....what can I do for you?
  14. I know. I've spent some time over there arguing the logic of posts, too. Did you also know that because there are "only" 20 dates on this tour, that it proves that Clay doesn't like touring? Or that this isn't really a "tour" because it involves symphonies? Or that Clay should play 20,000 seat venues that have enough reserved seating for everyone (even if the lawn goes empty)? ::insert banging head emoticon, because I'm too lazy to turn images on to look for it::
  15. Hugs all around! Sounds like it wasn't the greatest weekend for some. I laid low, took my daughter's puppy for walks, and finally got around to doing all of our taxes. That's a load off! Hee, I think the Cary ticket sales caused a lot of stress. The OFC was melting down all weekend. It's amazing some of the things you read over there......other boards have been doing more retrospectives, talking about past tours, etc. I've enjoyed that. It's a nice change. Definitely looking forward to seeing Clay on TV again....but not so much the angst that it will bring.
  16. I really don't see what's ghastly about it, other than, as you say, the fact that you'd have to hang around all day in the heat. But if you get in line early enough, you are apparently able to park you car very close by the line, and you and whoever you are with can take turns getting out of the heat and into the A/C. Concert-wise, the lawn offers a pretty good view of the stage, as it is elevated above the reserved section. Then the tables are behind that, so they are elevated above the lawn. My wisdom? Try for single tickets tomorrow. You'll be more likely to pull some up. I managed to grab 4 singles yesterday, even though it took me about 45 minutes of trying. And if you don't end up with any, I still wouldn't jump at lawn seats tomorrow. They are not going to sell out. Take a look around the boards and see if anyone is selling anything. I've already seen one in row Q for sale at the OFC. Congrats to Claygasm for getting Indio tickets!
  17. According to a poster at the OFC: Isn't that........like........NOW?
  18. Hee, exactly! That thing on my back porch that I rarely use until the weather gets up into the 80s. Used to cook hamburgers and hotdogs so I don't dirty a pot or pan in the kitchen. We're back to discussing the teeth again?????? I still don't see a difference. Can't get past the rest of the face, I guess. Well, I managed to pull 5 singles yesterday, in the bloodbath known as the Cary presale. I count myself among the lucky! And that should be it for my dealings with Ticketmonster this time around. Now I just have figure out who is sitting where, and who owes who for all these seats! Time for another spreadsheet.....is it July yet? :Tour3: :Tour4: :Tour3:
  19. Well as far as I know, row 2 is definitely in the "hole". What it boiled down to was that the security people did not stop anyone from walking up to the gap in between the front row and the barricades, to take pictures or just stand there and block everyone else's view. That gap is elevated. So there I was in the 2nd row, dodging heads, trying to see through them because I sure as hell couldn't see over them. Everyone in the front row of course stood up and also stood on the elevated area, because otherwise they wouldn't have been able to see, either. Maybe things will be different this year and they won't allow it. I don't know, but I'm not counting on it. Thanks for the KLo/Ruben clip! I love them both, but especially KLo, and am going to see her on June 1st in Dayton. My daughter brought home her new CD the other day so I am anxious to get it ripped to my iPod and have a listen.
  20. You totally CMSU. Are you sure you aren't really a poddie? Personally, I think Spring (notice that it is always capitalized) is the perfect time to roll down the windows and blast ATDW while you are driving.
  21. Wanna get the cold shoulder? Just post this around the boards and see how much non-reaction you get. From the CB: :Tour3: :Tour4: :Tour3:
  22. Great quotes, both of these! ITA with all of it. Initially, I admit, the VOX drew me in, as it did probably 99% of fans. But I'm one of those cliches - came for the VOX, stayed for the man. If it was only the VOX, I'd still have him on my iPod, but I sure as hell wouldn't be following him all over the US of A this summer. He just stands for so much of what I personally believe in, and he is constantly surprising and delighting me with something new. I feel so lucky to have discovered him in my lifetime, and to have had the opportunity to follow his career and his personal growth from the beginning. I am definitely here for the long haul! :Tour3: :TourExcite: :Tour3:
  23. Thanks, merrieeee! I think he looks wonderful, but ITA with ldyjocelyn so it's no wonder. If that makes me an angelwinger, then so be it. I am so proud of him for this award, and he is just beaming in the posed pic.
  24. I gotta disagree........I sure hope no one was there trying to take pictures. I really dislike the intrusive picture taking in private settings. I mean, it's one thing at a public event like yesterday's Women's Show in Raleigh, but another entirely, IMO, at the airport security counter or a restaurant where Clay is having dinner with friends, no matter if those friends are celebrities or unknowns. Thing is, I get the impression that some fans want these things to be made public to prove that Clay is out with women (and by that, I do not mean anyone here!) Most others just think it would be cute, and I am sure it would be (and I'm not hypocritical enough to say I wouldn't right-click-and-save because I would), but if Clay wants to get pictures out to the tabloids that show him with women, he has ways and means to do that. I wish fans could just draw a line between being enthusiastic and being intrusive.
