  1. Hee, Amy, don't worry, the televised coverage will follow mainly the skater. And ansa, you are in luck, Elvis has hung up his skates for good. Sad for me, becoss he was my favourite skater, but sadder still for the entertainment world, since he seems to think he can sing. *shudders at the thought*
  2. Here is the email that Constantines Girl at the Clayboard received. It doesn't specify which skating event this is, just the date and venue that it will be TENTATIVELY be taped:
  3. I have to agree with ansa here. As much as I loved Skating!Clay! at the RBC Centre (I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched that clack) this is a much different scenario. These types of skating shows tend to be quite classy, and the tickets tend to be quite expensive (which is why I've only ever attended one, when I usually attend most skating shows that are in the Toronto to London area). This goes right along with the more "classy" image they seem to be going for with Clay, IMO, with these orchestra shows. Yes, I remember this too, with Kurt's wife, who is a famous ballerina. But normally, the singer sings on the stage, which is at one end of the ice surface, and the skater skates. Unfortunately for the televised audience, the camera tends to be on the skater more than the singer, since it's the skaters visuals that are complementing the singer's singing. I have always fantasized that Clay would sing while Jeff Buttle (Canadian champ) skated. I can't wait to find out what the pairing will be. I would love to be able to attend this in person. I'll keep my ear to the ground in skating circles and see if I hear anything about tickets.
  4. From CB and CV: EEEEEEEEEEEEE! Fandoms collide! I know that Kurt's show always tapes in Ontario.....usually Toronto or Hamilton. I wonder which show Clay will be on? I wonder who'll skate to his song? I will never hear that song the same way again........
  5. What's funny is that that is probably what some are thinking. I just love the way he growls the last word.........
  6. hey you mean its a combination of comedy skits...and orchestral music???Maybe its a childrens; story this time...with magical trees and elves and such...hee maybe this is the exciting project he is talking about... wouldn't it be funny if he was recording for a a christmas album instead of a rocking cd of originals? Hee, funny thing is, I often think that Clay's definition of "exciting" and many of the fans' definitions of "exciting" are far and apart. :medium-smiley-070: I'd love a new Christmas CD this year! Actually, to me it makes a whole lot more sense, since the one he has is 3 years old (well, not counting AIW, maybe he could incorporate those songs into it since most of the public has never heard them). Plus the fact that he obviously enjoys Christmas and intends on having an annual Christmas tour. I'm really not expecting a new pop CD (or whatever genre he chooses) until at least late 2008 or into 2009. He's already got one of those and I love it! *smacks self for such an outrageous statement about ATDW*
  7. I guess I should learn to scroll right down to the very bottom.........since I read that pdf yesterday. OK then, discretion it will have to be! Hey, with a name like Clay Aiken's Magical Holiday, I'm not putting anything past him. Just because he hasn't done funny yet........remember the Hometown Connection Santa Clay?
  8. Yes, I love hearing about different venues that are trying to book him on either this or the next leg of the tour. Sounds like boyfriend is a pretty hot commodity! Eeep! It is? Where did you hear that? ::bites nails::
  9. Ah, Clay, you can throw as many tours at me as you want.......and I'll still be waiting for more. Seriously, I'm thrilled about the Christmas tour! It answers the questions about what the "second leg" meant. I love that he's named it, and it's something different than "Joyful Noise" (just because I think it means he's coming up with fresh ideas and exploring).....I love that it's with orchestras again......I can't wait to find out what he's singing. I'd love to hear him cover John Lennon's "Happy Christmas, War Is Over (If You Want It)". I'd love to hear him do a live version of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth". I'd love him to cover any of the Elvis Christmas songs.....that CD has always been a favourite in our household each year. Plus, there are so many great Stephen Curtis Chapman Christmas songs.....I bought his last Christmas CD thinking Clay might cover the title track. Oh yeah, we don't know that about the summer tour yet. Hee. :medium-smiley-070: My siggie is also my license plate. C L Z M Y L V S = Clay's my Elvis. Oooh, pix in the bedroom? Well, since I've got no one to stop me.....I've got the framed Rolling Stone cover, and a big poster of the Library Boy pic......I've got the two 8x10's from the OFC framed.....I've got a large stand that displays 5 magazine covers from 2003/2004.....and I've got the poster from the IT behind the door. OH, I've also got a nice, big laminated black and white poster of two screencaps from AI5, courtesy of cindilu2. And a laminated Singapore MOAM bus poster. My son says it looks like a teenager's room. Well, I consider it my second childhood, and I'm loving it!
  10. Yup, no worries ansa, we are actually working on a little get together prior to the BAF gala next week (OMG I can't believe it's "next" week!) Anyone who plans to be in or near Raleigh and wants to join us, please send me a PM! Sooooooo....can't be long now until the OFC releases some sales dates and more venues, right?
  11. Hee, pod mod. It's sad that they exist, but it's true. OMG I love this little guy. Can we add him to the board emoticons? Pleeeeeeaaaaaaase??????? While ITA with you, I draw a distinction between almost walking away from the online fandom, and walking away from being a fan of Clay Aiken in general. The former I have contemplated. The latter, I will never do. It's possible to be a fan of Clay without being online. I know lots of people who are. They rely on me to tell them about tours, concerts, anything exciting that's coming up. They are quite happy that way, and I can't say as I blame them. Some days the negativity just gets too much. It's great to have a group of friends to email with, and of course, this board is a haven. I have only recently gone back to the OFC after quite a few months away. I think it's unfortunate that everything over there is so black and white, and whole threads are allowed to be sabotaged. To me, the problem with that is that it gets into the shady area of fans policing fans. Who draws the lines? I think eventually the worst offenders will drive themselves out, either by getting themselves banned from boards by breaking the rules, or giving up and moving on when they realize that none of what they have predicted is coming true. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that some "fans" seem to want Clay to be someone who he is obviously not. But there are many other performers out there who probably do fit the bill. Why not be their fan instead? Wouldn't it be more satisfying? I'll never understand it. I've become disenchanted with artists or celebrities or whoever I used to follow closely, because their direction or their career choices weren't my cup of tea. I moved on, and found something else to do. Somehow, Clay fans seem incapable of doing that.
  12. I love this attitude. :F_05BL17blowkiss: playbiller, it depends what specific part of their theory you are trying to debunk. It changes to suit their purpose. Sometimes it's that he doesn't need to record anything new, because he already has the thing sitting on the shelf (because evil Clive hated it). Other times it's brand spanking new and is being recorded RIGHT NOW! It makes my head spin. I just feel so out of step with the majority of the fandom right now. Where I want to celebrate and plan and fantasize about how great it will be to hear Clay singing love songs to meeeeeeeeee under the starry skies this summer, the majority are angsting over ticket sales and hypothetical "new" albums and whether the symphony will take up all the time or the band will get a separate set, or getting excited over intrusive paparazzi videos and skeevy made-up "scandals".
  13. Hee, I hope you're not one too, else you might get eaten alive over here. couchie, we really gotta get that FAQ in order.......... I'll be right back as soon as I find the link to someone's explanation, because you are not the first to ask this question, and probably won't be the last. Aaaaaaaaand ldyjocelyn was quicker than me. :medium-smiley-070: ETA: Standing O for djs. Brilliant!
  14. Heh, shouldn't it be running with a razor? But either one is dangerous. I have never been to a first concert, and I'm dying to do it. I want to be unspoiled, and I want to feel the excitement, in person, instead of over a cellcert. I was hoping to do it for this tour. Right now I'm not sure if it's going to happen or not. I also love the last concerts of a tour, but I also find them very bittersweet. I was at the final NaT in Raleigh, and I cried the whole way through Invisible. I'm on the Aiken diet! (ok, down muski, not that kind). I started 3 weeks ago, on the advice of my doctor, but it really worked out well, timing wise. I have lost 10 pounds and one size, just in time to go out and buy myself a new outfit for the BAF gala. Woo hoo! I love spring, so on days when the sun is shining and the weather is above freezing, I have been going for walks on my lunch break, with my iPod. As much as I abhor exercise, I don't mind that kind!
  15. This is fantastic....so great to see the lurkers coming out of the woodwork! :F_05BL17blowkiss: So far, I'm 99% sure that I'll be going to Rochester, Chatauqua and Columbus. I've never done a 3fer before, and it sounds like a lot of fun! Windtalker, there is a very informative thread over at the OFC about the Columbus venue, in the Tour Talk section. One of the OFC members seems to have some sort of an in, and is bringing all sorts of stuff over. Apparently they are very accomodating, there are sections set aside for those people in wheelchairs, you can purchase reserved tables (no idea where they are), and groups of 20 or more are able to reserve a spot on the lawn as well. Unfortunately, they don't start taking any sort of reservations until at least late April or early May, but I think it would be a good idea if one of us could grab a spot for 20. I don't think it would be too difficult to fill it up. I'm also hoping to be at both NC shows, if everything works out. I'm waiting to see where the other 7 venues that have no yet been announced end up to be, and of course I'm hoping for Toronto, but even so, I hope to still get to NC. Apparently the Biltmore in Asheville only holds about 2,000, so that might be a battle for tickets. On the other hand, the Koka Booth in Cary has a large lawn, so no worries there. Is it July yet? Oh wait, I have to go to the Gala first. Wheeeeeeeee! :medium-smiley-070:
  16. Another short person checking in - 5 foot 1 inch. Maybe I'm just used to having to look between heads....but I haven't really had any extreme problems with tall people. Or maybe the Aiken fog just made me forget them. There no way I'm getting to California for this tour, so if that's where the FCA get together ends up being.....I'll miss ya! But I hope y'all have a great time. So far it's just NY-OH 3fer and NC for me.
  17. I can't even imagine walking out of a Clay Aiken concert disgruntled.........makes no sense to me! A Clay Aiken concert is 2 hours of pure joy. Welcome pkmiller. The more the merrier! Has anyone else caught the paparazzi video that has been vaulted? Is anyone else as squicked out as me? It just seems so intrusive. I don't know how Clay does it, I sure wouldn't be able to, in his shoes. Well I'm now booked into 3 hotels, all with free cancellation up to the last day policies. I've got one general admission ticket and my name is on a list for a group sale for another venue. Where last week I was getting very itchy for the rest of the tour dates and public sale dates, right now I'm feeling quite zen. No rush, Clay.
  18. Yep, I'm already booking hotels. Doesn't hurt because they can be cancelled without penalty. But I'm also 99% sure of which concerts I'm going to, already. If there are any other attractive ones in the final 7, it's possible I could change my mind.........but more likely I'll just add one or two to my list. Loved that horoscope!
  19. Hmmmm, I have my name on one list for group tickets, and already have my Chatauqua ticket through a friend, but I don't feel like I'm trying to rush anything. I'm just lazy and can avoid doing the Ticketmaster tango this way! LOL. Speaking of the Beatles and external hard drives.......I have three externals (160 gb, 200 gb, 250 gb) named George, John and Paul. Hee, can Ringo be far behind? I also have hundreds of data dvds burned off, mostly the same clack that is on the externals. I am ready for anything! One thing I make sure to back up to an external on a regular basis is my master file folder for my iTunes library. I've put a lot of time and effort into getting so much audio organized, I'd hate to lose it. I love, love, love the Beatles Love album, and I also love the Beatles at the Beeb and the Anthology series. I can't seen to find my Anthology Cds though.......only the DVDs. I'll have to search some old boxes..... It's funny. I've found a musical genre that I can enjoy with each of my 3 kids (who are 15, 19, and 21). The youngest is really into the Beatles right now, and we listen to all of my old Beatles Cds when we are driving around. The 19 year old is an Elvis freak. He just can't get enough. He and I have tickets to attend the big concert at the Collingwood ON Elvis festival this July (please Clay, no Toronto concert on July 28th, I beg of you). The oldest, my daughter, is my partner in crime and attends all Clay concerts with me. Well, almost all, I'm 2 up on her, and she won't let me forget it.
  20. {{{hugs}}} I'd be complaining to the mods, if I were you. Like/dislike shouldn't play into anything....but we all know it often does. So apparently someone on the CB found an Oct. 24th date listed for somewhere in NY, on a broker site? Wonder if there's any truth to it. And I read a few posts saying that it might be a Christmas date........bwah ha ha! Clay loves him some Christmas, but even he is not crazy enough to celebrate it before Halloween!
  21. Yep, Can......gua is the venue near Rochester. I know because I booked a hotel there today. Clay and his "disguise" CMSU. Not a fan of beards, but there really isn't any look he can't pull off, as far as I'm concerned.
  22. {{{Hugs}}} to muski and all who need them today. Your story about the laptop really made me sit up and take notice. I work in a "locked" environment and routinely leave my bag, iPod, etc laying around, figuring no one will take it. So far I've been lucky, but I don't think I'll be so careless in the future. Soo.....July 25th in NH? Interesting. He does seem to be criss-crossing a bit. Perhaps he is flying rather than driving to a lot of these shows. I hope we hear something about band and back ups soon. As much as I hope Quiana comes back, I won't be heartbroken if it turns out to be just the orchestra. Ooops, can't end this post without at least one emoticon. ETA: Welcome, cha cha trusty!
  23. Ooooh oooh oooh iPod discussion! If you don't have one.......it is seriously worth it. But buy an extended warranty, if you can. Mine is an old dinosaur now, a mini, they don't even make them anymore, but it's still got a year left on warranty. If it dies, I can probably get a huge 80gb video iPod for what I paid for it. My little 4gb holds about 1000 songs, and is 1/3 Clay stuff. So he comes up rather often, if I put it on random. I love that you can create playlists that search the database for you (i.e. all Clay songs, all non-Christmas Clay songs, etc). You can also choose to listen by artist or by album or just a mix. I have lots of Beatles, solo George, Paul, and John, Fleetwood Mac, Amanda Marshall, Elton John, Blue Rodeo, solo Jim Cuddy, Billy Klippert, Cher, BCR, Dixie Chicks, Music & Lyrics Soundtrack, Melissa Ethridge, and lots of other random stuff. ETA: Since I have started walking daily, my iPod is my best friend. Keeps me company, keeps me motivated!
  24. {{{georgiaclay}}} The Biltmore is on a Saturday. For anyone who might be interested in hearing Beatles music with a bit of a twist, try the new "Love" CD. They've taken original Beatles music and mixed some of the songs together, etc. It's pretty cool! George Martin and his son produced, with the remaining Beatles' and Yoko's and Olivia's blessings.
