  1. You Go Girl!!!! But shouldn't you be trying land one of those guys at "The Geek Squad"? Hee! You guys can have the geek squad, I'll take the 5'10" blond criminal masterminds that KAndre is passing by... as long as they know basic geography they're ok by me. ETA: kimiye!!! Yes there will be ouzo! OTOH, we do have wonderful Ethiopian, sushi and death by chocolate (just not at the same place, lol!) I can drive but you'll have a long wait for me because I'll be coming from the NE part of town -- you'll be in SW Sugarland? I think you're about 50 miles away from me.
  2. Yessss! We're all out of Cheez Doodles!!! MUAH! So... Wed or Thursday night and Saturday lunch are fine? (we have a lot of gossip friendship stuff to catch up on!) Do you want to trust us with the food choices (heh!) or will you name your favorite restaurants/cuisine? If you don't pick, we might default on Greek/Italian since we didn't get to do those last weekend. Sweet and cute are how I'd describe it! Hoping it's true but wouldn't be crushed if it isn't, as long as the mediabase and sales numbers continue to rise! (couchie, this is my win-win situation) And you'd all be deprived of my awesomeness if women didn't do that since my mom was 42 when she had me. *high-five's ldyj and looks around suspiciously for the one who yelled, "We shouldda outlawed it!"* Hey Muski, when I was helping Mini-Scarlett move to college, people thought I was an incoming freshman too. Agreeing with Ansa as well...
  3. Bracing myself for people who'll pounce on it as a desperate media stunt because even people who are never on media sites have heard about it today. *will stay within FCA walls for a while* lol... yeah, some exposure for the album would be a nice side benefit. Yes, a bump in sales would be a great side benefit! Rutrow. You're in trouble NOW. *hoping for another Leno repeat, because he looked and sounded wonderful!*
  4. Bracing myself for people who'll pounce on it as a desperate media stunt because even people who are never on media sites have heard about it today. *will stay within FCA walls for a while*
  5. Well that's good to hear! Oh and Mini-Scarlett just called. Chit-chatted for about 20 minutes about her new job and new roommate and then she pauses and mentions nonchalantly, "Oh btw there was some news about Clay Aiken having a child on a link from LiveJournal. It's one of those entertainments sites. Do you know if this is true?" LOL!!!
  6. We can help by going over there and mentioning this gleefully every time they turn around. Tag, you're it!
  7. Eeeeeeeeeeee! What a day to be stuck in the server room on top of a doctor's appt that I had to make up for, but thank goodness for PerusingOne who kept me updated all day!!! All the cute remarks have been taken but I still want to add my awwwwwww!!! So happy for them and him -- it's a boy, right? He's going to be loved so much!!!
  8. Iseeme, I hope you don't think I'm singling you out but I missed the discussion last night and yours was one of the last posts. It is frustrating to live in a world where lives get torn apart and wars do start and time is not enough and not everyone has a friend and even if they do friendship doesn't last and right does not always win. It's not about being a nice guy. Ruben and a bunch of others are nice guys too. But if you believe that Clay deserves success because he's "one of the nicest guys in the entertainment business" then all I can say is that you have to keep on believing. Sometimes that's all we have but it is enough. Things will turn around like they always do, and the positive I see is that he is not helplessly waiting for things to happen, for some deus ex machina to fix things. Within the parameters of the world, he controls his own destiny. This is an anthem that that another FCAer gave me, albeit a new version, and the show that it came from is something the critics would gleefully jump on but it gives me hope: I Am What I Am djs111, you're absolutely right in that this is the worst thing that can come of it. (though Sims Clay can be a fun diversion - *nudges the eHP*) *Belated HBD, 00lsee!*
  9. Aaaaaargh! How am I going to sleep tonight?!! *checks the time to see if it's worth it to drive across town, remembers that the country of Israel is 50 miles wide on the ave (just like Houston), sighs and bundles up some sweaters into an old pillowcase* You haven't lived until you've seen KAndre's behind the scenes clip of "Ride With Me". Someone's about to find out what a typhoon means... He was fine the whole weekend until this morning when I ignored him for less than 15 minutes. How much attention does a cat need? ETA: While visiting with KAndre, Solo and PerusingOne this weekend, they mentioned how people thought the only decent performance during this year's Andrew Lloyd Webber night on AI was David Cook's. Maybe it was but I'd like to offer perspective/comparison points to David Cook's Performance on YouTube. These are my definitive live and recorded versions of Music of the Night: Live version Recorded
  10. *gasps* You saw David Essex in Godspell???!!! Post some more details! He was wonderful as Che in Evita (better than Mandy Patinkin whom I would have ordinarily called the best); that natural growly quality to his voice just kills! Yup! And let me tell you - he was CUTE! And Jeremy Irons! So tall and ramrod straight. <snip> Jeremy Irons as well? Too envious for words!!! If you remember anything else about either of them, whether in Godspell or any other performance, would greatly appreciate a PM! Thanks! *whispers you don't happen to have a cassette or whatever souvenir they had from that performance? is it called dack/jack? * :F_05BL17blowkiss: Like you, I saw more plays/musicals than concerts early on.
  11. I thought you liked spontaneity! Live for the moment I always say. Oh, you're serious? You mean right now?!!! Like I have to dress up, pack an overnight bag and leave? Believe it or not I'm in the middle of cleaning, as in actually going through things and throwing out stuff. For real. First time in ages, since well since we met each other actually. And you know how rare that is for me? It'll never happen again this side of 2010. I'm a packrat at heart! Could never toss out stray dogs, injured birds, souvenirs, receipts, boarding passes, husbands, torn jackets, etc. So, I'm supposed to stop cleaning now? Ok, stopped. Getting into the shower and will be at your place. Soon. *giggles* (that wasn't so hard. and i still haven't unpacked from LA anyways) Yes, I check FCA before my voice mail messages. what. ETA: Liney, :F_05BL17blowkiss: I have a nice reply to you but it'll have to wait. Or some people won't let me have sushi tonight. Thank goodness they don't know my apartment number or they might have been rappelling to my window already. Bye, talk to you from KAndre's keyboard later! ETAA: So sorry for the useless post, Ansa. But apparently FCA Main is the only place we can get people together . We'll plan better... someday.
  12. I've actually thought about this a lot...and I honestly think he'll never stop saying that. Why? You know, one of the reasons I can come up with is something that he and Diane Sawyer alluded to in 2003. I think he gets a real kick out of standing up for all the nerds/geeks/uncool kids of the world. <snip> Indiana Jones was a blast, but then I'm biased -- I've loved every single one of the IJ movies. They are the perfect summer movies to me, and I need to see the new one again soon! ldyj, ITA! I have to add though that the "not cool line" doesn't work so well when your stylist insists on making you look more like Brad Pitt than Brad Pitt himself. *Eeee, another IJ4 gal!* That was fun! And I thought it wrapped up the series v. nicely.
  13. *squishes Kareneh!* Can't wait to see you again in July! Have a great time on all your adventures! Oh and they're not golf clubs, they're visualization tools. (Isn't your DH in the exploration business? They usually understand the multiple visualizations part) But...but... Isn't that what we're about? Embarking on what people would call the most crazy-ass things, pushing the limits, ignoring warnings of how it can't be done, hasn't been done, isn't right, isn't proper, has never been done before, too difficult, will never work, too complicated, is against the laws of nature (ok, maybe not that far but just enough to defy gravity) and in the end show everyone how easy it turned out to be that we not only made it work but we owned it completely?!!! Watched the IJ4 movie yesterday since my co-workers decided that it would be great as a team-building activity and hey I'm easy, or at least I wasn't about to insist on working on the afternoon before a long weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed it! I've loved Steven Spielberg since way back when he was only appreciated by kids and a bunch of strange-looking but very loyal and enthusiastic fans. It still rankles that E.T. wasn't recognized for the extraordinary film it was, losing the Best Picture Oscar to Gandhi, which while a good film and fitting squarely into everyone's image of an "Oscar-winning" one, just didn't compare. I love seeing E.T. in all the critics' "Best Films Ever" lists nowadays, ranked at #25 or higher but it was so frustrating back then when people dismissed it as fluff and refused to see its technical merits. (BTW, if ET hadn't won at least it would have been better for it to have lost to "Tootsie", another wonderful film from that year that didn't have the "stature" and "image" of Gandhi) It took a long, long time to get from E.T. to Schindler's list, my other favorite Speilberg film about tolerance but I guess the journey to success was just as important as attaining it. Have lots of fun, Gibby and luckiest! (well, separately)
  14. Too envious! Is there any way you could send her off with a couple of Dungeness crabs and some Ghirardelli dark chocolate for the poor soul who's picking her up at the airport on Sunday? Nooo? *aims a virtual kick at the Transportation Authority* Terrorists don't eat those things! Oh fine, fine, just have them for me and then post a recap. *sniff* OMG! Don't tell me someone was raped in LA! Your reference reminded me of seeing Rashoman Rashomon during a Kurosawa festival in LA back in the 80's. Solo's calltones are CMSU! Well, what happens in LA.... /jk! LOL! By "Rashomon" I was just referring to the multiple stories/points of view/what-is-truth sort of thing. Eeeeeing at another Kurosawa connection! We really need to have that have the movie weekend at merrieeee's. Oh, merrieeee!
  15. *waves to all the newbies! welcome!* Thanks for the music info, keepingfaith! Oh, yes, I remember now. You handed me the thingamajiggy. Thanks so much! MUAH! You did so much better than Solo who on that same night lobbed a tiny mike that contains a gyroscope over the heads of 6 people instead of handing it to me gingerly, since she claims to throw better than Clay and couchie together. I also remember talking to you at Kalamazoo, in Syracuse I was still in a fog over the Philly show. Haven't answered your Leno PM but I'm going to try to cap it; will need some good thoughts, though, since Comcast has been weird lately. I think I slept on the wet spot. We missed you too! LOL! Couchie's legend continues! cryingwlaughter: cryingwlaughter: Still ROTFL! That's not quite how I remember some parts of it and will be posting my version too; you're just lucky that I have to clean up tonight because Solo's dropping by tomorrow afternoon and I hope to give her some floor space to step on. If we can get Solo and PerusingOne to recap, we can do a whole "Rashomon" take on that weekend. Can't believe you did sushi without me, though! Could we have some tomorrow night, pretty please? -- I've been dying for some Tako since Kimmel and my polarizing Uni (people either love it or hate it). Yes, it is and I promise it'll be soon! Just not this weekend since we have even more adventures because Solo and PerusingOne are driving/flying over. I'd sworn off smutting for the rest of the year but this was too good a lead-in to miss... Bottle, how are you so sure he isn't still doing the nightly bottle dance? About ringtones and calltones, I posted this at the CH but just wanted to repeat that a lot of phones can use ANY mp3 file as a ringtone or calltone. I don't play so much with ringtones, but as an example, these are Solo's calltones for the eHP: Scarlett - Theme from Angel KAndre - Karen from the Beach Boys (used to be Everybody Wants to Rule the World) keepingfaith - Faith by George Michael PerusingOne - Dirty Little Secret merrieeee - I Can See Clearly Now her mom - Mama Mia ETA: Eeee! I don't have to clean tonight I just persuaded Solo and KAndre that Solo and I should just crash at KAndre's place tomorrow night -- her pad with the great home theatre system and w/c is 20x cleaner than mine. Also, we'll be able to use the iGallop! ETAA: Iseeme, in case it's really broken maybe you can use the remote that came with a DVR or VCR or sound system instead? Those should also work with your TV.
  16. Couchie, meeting "new" people is yet another nice thing about FCA. (muah to Ansa too!). I was a bit worried that you wouldn't be able to fill the last spot in the hotel but I'm glad it turned out to be the perfect opportunity for annabear. Hi goldarngirl! I wasn't at that party but many of you still travel together, don't you? I remember meeting most of you at the same place -- either the Rochester/Clio JBT or the Canadaigua DCAT. Sends :F_05BL17blowkiss: right back at annabear. Was a bit shmoopie at missing the chance to room with Cindilu, luckiest and couchie (tho' she was planning to make me sleep on the wet spot) but was v. happy it turned out so nicely for you!!! Hey kimiye! Can't wait to see you again. I don't think we've been using a party thread lately, just random posts and pms -- no one's bothered to trout people to use any "all-important party thread and representing list". I love this place! So, just let us know the dates when you can ditch tear yourself away from your sister and mom and we'll take care of the rest. BTW, I know I still owe people the name of the restaurant and directions to our lunch with PerusingOne -- will send that out uh, soon! Welcome, Tijala!
  17. Thanks for the link, Lotus. I might finally get an avatar because of this. *squishes Gibby* Aw, you can call me "baby eagle" anytime! I didn't watch the show, and haven't for umpteen seasons. While I agree that the show has lost its innocence, I feel sad that just about everything has lost some innocence. The fandom certainly has lost quite a bit, and in a way maybe so has Clay. Gone are the days when people would just randomly post individual requests and offers to help on the main message boards. I'm glad I found the friends I did early in the game -- met PerusingOne standing at a streetcorner in Tampa close to midnight after she saw my PRoC shirt, liked it and then waved me over; I met KAndre when she posted about a Dallas IT roadtrip on CH Main and I called shotgun right after; Solo, I could say was introduced by a mutual friend although it was a friend we'd met 30 seconds before she introduced us (it was KAndre btw). You know we all could have ended up with serial killers? Especially PerusingOne who left a hotel roomkey for Solo without knowing who she was -- could have been some German dude. So maybe there were a few people I'd done something for who ended up in the OC or in some haters group, all in all I felt that we were being watched over. Things could have gone horribly wrong because so many people trusted each other blindly. We're a lot wiser now so in a way I envy the David C and David A fans who are just starting out -- I can imagine what last night must have been like for them. Nothing works like a collective emotional experience to bring people together and create bonds that last a lifetime.
  18. So... didn't anyone else get taught as a child not to say "my this" or "my that" and instead say "our <whatever>"? I always assumed that that was where the me/we thing came from? I also noticed that whenever people who had been with me posted recaps of shows, they often said "Scarlett and I" instead of "I saw/did/said/watched/etc" and I thought that was sweet of them. Once in a while, though, there would be something that I obviously didn't do (eg. "Scarlett and I saw so-and-so in the audience") and the eHP would be ROTFL because they know I never recognize people even if they were sitting right in front of me.
  19. Is this a logic puzzle? Hee I'll never tell! Is it ( )? About Solo's and mine, he once sang it 4 times in a row, actually 5 out of 6 consecutive words even. merrieeee, I don't know how "destined to be" works. My ex's nickname was a baby kangaroo and the nickname y'all know me by is a baby eagle.
  20. heee well we have a nee nee and a dee dee. Does that count? I was called Angel by everyone until I was 18 ...now only my brother calls me that..or it will slip out from my mom every now and again. Oh those are even better than mine. They definitely count! My officemates are gone for the day so I think atinal's your best bud for tonight. but I will still try tomorrow just in case.
  21. *squeezes Ansa!* Our nicknames have been called the most bizarre in the world but I personally think they're cute. Mine's not in this form but how many people do you know who are called: Pot-Pot, Ning-Ning, Gen-Gen, Den-Den, Nit-Nit, Ding-dong, Dong-dong, no-noy, etc.? I think it acceptable for them (the interviewer and Clay) to chat a bit before the interview and go over things.
