  1. Morning FCA! Thanks for the banner-love :F_05BL17blowkiss:

    NINE DAYS!!! Gah! :DoClay:

On Jacob. First - - Jacob who? Seriously - who ever heard of him before Clay's tour? And since? (Yes of course I know there are some). I really enjoyed his Rock With You during the JBT (and provided some of the little bit of Clack there is of it on-line). I've heard all the stories (some first hand ~ my skin still crawls) about his antics with groupi... errr.. fans during the IT and the NAT. Blech. That's just personal reaction though ~ I don't honestly care who backs him up. I love both girls, and hope that they are with him for as long as it is good for all involved. As far as I'm concerned, they (Jacob included) don't have to love him, they just have to show him the same respect (whether they're still with him or not) that he shows them, at least publicly. Bad-mouthing your employer (even after you leave) is just not professional. It might feel good, but it's just dumb. Not to mention alienating a potential ready-made fan base. I've always felt that the fact that Clay didn't say more about Jacob leaving spoke volumes.

  2. Rainlover from CV put together a quick list of the Christmas concert dates we have so far:

Or maybe the tour could do a quick jaunt up to Canada for a day or so... [Waves to luckiest1 and Ansa

    *hums* If I was invisible....

Yay the bubble mailers arrived today. My friend is coming over on Sunday to help me package up the pins so they'll go out early next week.

Went out drinking after work so am a bit tipsy...think I'll just go relax heee. Have a great night ya'll.

Wheeee!! Wish I was close enough to help.

I'm just amazed at how many of you were at the Toronto JBT and I never knew. KarenEh, it sounds like you must have been sitting right behind me. I saw three JBT's and was lucky enough to get each of the three 'new' songs. Just You (takes a moment to mourn the much maligned JY) at Darien Lake, ATD at Clio, and the amazing debut of Tears Run Dry in Toronto. Honestly, the Aiken Fog gets me so badly, I am not left with many clear memories of the shows, only the wonderful feeling of them. For me the most amazing thing is that rush when he first appears ~ that 'he's really real' thing. And the weird part is, it happens every time. It's overwhelming. And awesome. I have memories that can make my heart beat faster, even if I can't quite 'see' them. ISY from the end of the catwalk in Detroit, BOTW in Darien Lake (never thought I'd get to hear that 'live', never mind 15 feet away from me). The first mic-drop ending of DSIAFCD in Williamsport. Walking out sans-jacket, in PANTS!! and stubble, again in Detroit, for JNT06.

I don't think though, that anything will ever equal the moment he rose up out of the stage at the Toronto AI2 tour. That was the moment I finally understood all the footage I'd ever seen of crying, screaming, swooning Elvis/Beatles/Sinatra fans. Until then, I just knew it had to be an act, put on for show. Boy, was I wrong.

  3. Caro, sending you good vibes for Tuesday. You WILL be at the Knoxville concert! (but I only drooled over the photos, I didn't post 'em).

On Idol: The Musical... I'm sure I remember reading a couple of reviews from people who had actually seen this in Syracuse and they didn't think it was too hard on Clay (heee...shuddup). Anybody? I keep having visions of this being a hit off-Broadway and becoming the Idol gens 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. Can't you just see the audience in full 'mate regalia?

    *swallows hard*

Okay, now I've gone and scared myself. :fca:

PS... am I the only person who thinks Clay's eyes are really on the green side of hazel? Actually I think they change depending on his emotion (my husband's did - swear to god, they could go from grey to green to blue in the course of an argument).

  4. Couchieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Have fun (???) at jazzercize, but where are your priorities woman? How do the pins look????? :imgtongue:

Ummm.... muski? Please come here and explain the sound I just made to my cats.

Between your post and the pic KarenEh just posted, I am toast.

    Phew.

I look at something like that and wonder why anybody ever messes with his eyes in photos. They are exquisite just as they are. Ever changing, ever mesmerizing. GAHHHHH! Perfection!

ETA: You know, I think if I were ever on the receiving end of that look 'for real', I'd honest to god swoon.

  5. I don't think anybody was discouraging real discussion. In fact, I think the opposite is true. But when it begins to feel like a lecture, when every single bit of optimism for or faith in Clay's decisions (which to me is the same thing as the fabled Team Clay) is countered with how it should, or worst MUST be done, then I object. It's pervasive.

  6. *waves franticly to artquest and muski*

It did say there were only four copies in stock. RUN!!!

Only SO NOT! wtf? ITA that some of this fandom (some) is lost in some hot a/c radio world that quite frankly is never going to exist for our guy if were completely honest with ourselves. So who gives a rats ass anyway. Few folks listen continuously to radio anymore. Unless they are rap, talk radio or college stations, they are listening to CDs and ipods and the net! That's a fact jack and there's no goin' back sfar as I can tell. Sooooo....

Let the man record, perform, promote. produce whatevah he desires. I trust him to know his own talent and to also listen and take under consideration that which he feels comfortable & good about. That's it. That's all I'm gonna do. If I felt a need to angst over that part of his career then I would be on the payroll Not the other way around.

A hunka hunka burnin' WORD to treenuts for this one.

...and now I will stop post ho'ing and do some work!

  7. I am going to preface what I am about to say with this. I do not want Clay's next album to be covers. I do want it filled with original Clay Aiken songs.

That said - all the stuff I read on the boards about no "Moon River", no symphonies, no covers, appeal to the desired under-30 crowd as stated by marketing geniuses, etc., is said with an apparent presumption that the new original songs will be rockin' originals.

What if Clay's next album is all orginals, but those originals are songs in the vein of "Moon River", with lots of symphonic arrangements?

I am not saying that is my preference, but think about it. Clay seems to love singing with a symphony (as he himself has said). He seems to love pretty songs. He seems to love singer's songs, as he has put it. What if his next album, all orginals, is more in the vein style and sound-wise of ATDW or "Moon River"?

How will the pundits in this fandom spin that?

I think Clay has been telling us exactly who he is for four + years now and his words and deeds carry little or no weight with some people (not as much as the twinkle in his eye at least). So I doubt that a whole CD of 'Moon Rivers' would get it through their heads either. Oh if only they'd go away quietly though.

  8. I think this says all I need to say about experts who would manage Clay's career.

An interoffice softball game was held every year between the marketing department and support staff of one company. The day of the game, as hard as marketers tried the support staff beat the marketing department soundly. In their best tradition the Marketing Department decided to find their best 'spin' they could on the dismal result. They showed how they earned their keep by posting this memo on the bulletin board after the game:

"The Marketing Department is pleased to announce that for the recently-completed softball season,we came in second place, having lost but one game all year. The Support Department however had a rather dismal season,as they won only one game all season."

    ETA: Pins!!!!!! :RedGuy:

  9. I am absolutely getting ramped up for this tour. I got my tourpass badge from the CB today in the mail, I got a shipped confirmation email from CafePress on the black tees (faster than promised, woot!) I have all my tickets safely tucked away. I AM READY!!!!!!!!!!

What will he sing? How will he open the show? Will he do I Wanna Know What Love Is (pretty please?) with A or Q? Will Suzie surprise us anywhere along the way???? I am not demanding, but I reallllllllllllllllllllly want him to sing LAA (and since I'm beggin', on a stool, on a darkened stage, just him and a spotlight, please). Dun dun dunhhhhh... as I typed that, LAA came up on my player. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!1!!!11! it's a sign! *sticks out tongue at luckiest1* I AM READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the boards... meh. The portion of the online fandom that has become so inbred, so determined to mold Clay into their vision that they've lost site (or maybe never had it?) of who he is and what HE is telling us, what HE is showing us. Mehhh. I feel sorry for those who can't (won't) appreciate the beauty of ATDW, who can only feel disappointment for some 'might have been' instead of celebrating what is. Because in my opinion, what is, is glorious and worthy and wonderful. And in four weeks from yesterday, I will experience that glory from the fourth row in Syracuse. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!1!!!!!!11! I AM READY!

    et: Muski - $40K? Really? ACK I hope that's a gross exaggeration. Maaaaaaaan. titanic.gif

  10. And I get overwhelmed watching that video...But it's weird, sometimes I can watch it and think..damn can the man be any sexier. heee I have to remind myself he's singing about Jesus..but guh gah and all that jazz.

Phew. Clay is almost never sexier than when he's singing about Jesus. The man just ooooooooozes sexy. Can't explain it. Don't care. The man just is.flirtysmile3.gif

    First photo in my PB?

    Natural_Clay.jpg

This is still one of my all-time favorite Clay photos, and was my desktop for at least the first year of this ride. It about broke my heart to change it. Still makes me all tingly to look at it.

The first siggy I ever made (maybe the last too? the CB disable siggies in most forums early on and I never used one anywhere else). Had NO clue what I was doing.

  11. eyes cindilu2 with interest...

soooo....how would I say merde? That means "ding dang it" right? Rigggght?

Then I would really have a change to say "Excuse my French!" HA!

Hee! That would be Mare - d (and it pretty much means SHIT!!)

See my edit - if you're brave enough to try Quebec, go to Quebec City!!!

I can't say how much that email to the Houston venue pisses me off. NOT for the info, but for the fact of it's existence. I wish fans could just let things happen instead of always having to ferret things out. Maybe Clay told us exactly what he wanted us to know in his blog? Maybe he'd like to, oh, unveil his show himself??? GRRR (JMO and YMMV and all that) And yes, I already griped about it on the CB. Clearly, the email is in answer to questions(I doubt they came up with 'up-tempo on their own).
