  1. I can't say I'm terribly surprised by this development - when you loudly, publicly, and consistently f*ck with Clive, there are going to be professional repercussions. I don't know if the Kelly vs. Clive narrative was designed to give her "Street Creed" or what exactly, but not to expect Clive to respond in someway? Seems more than a little clueless to me.

I hope all the pundits who claim that Clay could have and should have stood up to Clive over the covers thing are paying attention.

I don't know - maybe I'm just jaded (or jealous :lilredani: ) but every time I read any of this 'controversy' over Kelly's album and her fight with the label, it just feels set-up. I can't even give a specific reason why, but it does. Then today, after her all her assertions about how this album came to be, and is so personal, etc - she says she's never been in love? Maybe I'm missing something. Or maybe I'm being manipulated?

  2. Wheeeee! Caro's here with the news!

Wow, I am just so damn impressed with these last two blogs from the man. Last night, especially. I don't know if it's planning or providence, but between the two of them, he manages to touch on just about everything. Where he is and what he's doing? Check. Tour tidbits? Check. RCA? Clive? Soft Rock and Hard Places? Checkity check check. (and depending on where you put the commas, is that really so different from DCAT? :RedGuy: ) And then on to the tough stuff. I personally love that he took on the ultimate responsibility, not for what went down amongst the fans, but for what happened and what will happen as a result. Clay Aiken, large and in charge is fiiiiiine by me. Okay, I could have lived without him mentioning ever changing anything after reading about it on the boards. Ugh - you know that will become a battle-cry for all the self-appointed managers he has. But these two blogs confirm what we've always really known ~ Clay Aiken has a quick mind, a huuuuuuuuuge heart, and titanium balls. I'm going to do him the honor of following his example.

The 1% he is addressing has never, and will never, ever recognize themselves as the problem. In fact it sounds to me like if I want to go back to the OFC and raise hell with the ones that got it shut down, in the first place, it will be allowed. According to his blog. *sigh* I don't think Clay really understands how disturbed some of his fans really are. I don't think he understands the lengths some of them will go to to cause trouble. They are cyber stalkers and misfits. I'm so disappointed about his OFC that I just feel like crying.............In fact I probably won't rejoin next year if it is still the same way it is now. Maybe after I reread the blog a dozen more times, it won't sound so disappointing to me, but right now I have a sad pit in my stomach. And a huge urge to be ill and then weep. I guess I can find some comfort in knowing that the agenda by Madame X and her minions to get the mods fired, backfired. ....No matter my own personal feelings about the modding. Hee

Clayzor, if anything these blogs say to me that he does have the number of that 1%. I get the feeling that it's a 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer' thing. And if we could actually DO what he's asking and not engage the crazies (on either side)... ah, but that's a perfect world. Then again, I doubt there is anybody among us who knows better than Clay that we don't live in a perfect world. But he's the one paying the price here, so if he's willing to try it, so am I. And in the end, the message board is just a small, seperate part of the OFC. Not re-joining because of it is throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

  3. While I do feel bad for people who were normal, participating fans on the message board, I am glad the board was shut down. I only wish it were permanent, which I don't believe it is. There are dozens and dozens of places for fans to congregate. I'd be willing to be 95% of the posters there post at least one other place.

My online fandom has always been based on the idea that I'm here for Clay. So if shutting down that cesspool message board is what was neccessary for him, then I support it. I do wish they didn't acknowledge it on the main site, but that's the way it goes.

  4. Kind of O/T but also really puts things in perspective for me. This is the HDD article (found on CV) about Paul McCartney's projected first week sales, after leaving EMI and going with the Starbucks label.

    MACCA MANS THE BISTROS

Starbucks Sales Help Push New Album to #1, with 180k in First-Week Sales

    June 6, 2007

A new paradigm has arrived for the record industry, and it all took place in the local coffee shop.

Thanks to its presence in more than 9,000 Starbucks in the U.S. alone and a worldwide marketing campaign and set-up by Hear Music and Concord Music Group, Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full looks like it will debut at #1 on next week’s chart, with a total of 180k in first-week sales.

Now, granted, for him it is almost double what he sold in his first week for his last album, so I bet he's celebrating. But Macca, who to many is a God, only sells 180,000 in his first week, with the media campaign that he has had? Just reinforces, to me, how well ATDW did. JMO obviously.

And he gets to be #1, too. Most other weeks of the year last year, ATDW would have been also. I just bet A Thousand and ONE Different Ways (as I like to call it in my evil moments) will come out the same week as Britney comes back, too.

eta, clueless question I've wondered about for ages. Macca? WTF??

  5. I'm still trying to figure out how we'd know that they're making fun or outing 'bad fans' (seriously?? wtf? No, seriously?? WTF???) of other people, if they are private???

ETA: Well then not private, so much, really. :cryingwlaughter: I too am part of other groups that chat, about life, about shstuff, about Clay, and yes, occasionally about some of things posted about Clay. For me personally though, I don't write anything that I wouldn't be willing to post publicly if it came down to it. As we've seen with the Little John video, nothing on the web is truly private.

  6. Well, it is in Clackunlimited.com Under TV and then Primetime.

I think cindilu2 means THE WHOLE THING -- including "Moon River." There was a lot of footage that was hinted at in the previews for that show that was never shown.

Yup! He was just so sweet, and open, and gorgeous (so I love me some blond, spiky, blue sweater wearing Clay - SUE ME!). I still think though, that my single all-time favorite piece of Clack is the Rollingstone photoshoot/interview. From the opening Cliggle, to the posing, to the strains of BOTW in the background. It strikes me every time that he mentions the 'months' leading up to it, and just how much he experienced in such a short period of time. I'm sure the contestants today sort of expect it - but there's no way those guys could've seen what was coming. I just love it. FLOVE!!!!

    ETA:

I think the first time I hear the opening chords of Right Here Waiting whoever is sitting beside me is going to have to pick me up off the floor because I will surely die.

We could hit the floor together, luckiest1 -- I do love and adore RHW, every last note of it from beginning to the Beatlesque fade out. I'm so thankful I never heard this song before ATDW!!!

keepingfaith, why don'tcha ask luckiest1 about George 'ghosting' on this song? :imgtongue:

  7. Clay was granting a wish. Personally, I appreciate what Clay did for John and don't think it ruined the song at all. It was a unique and poignant performance.

I agree. I was also there in Detroit IT, when a well-known fan marched up to the mother of the girl who danced WDC with Clay and thanked her for 'ruining the show'. I was standing right beside her, so I know it happened. Not a proud moment in the fandom for me.

Things like that (WDC, Little John, dancing with the wheelchair lady in the first JNT) are the moments that make the memories for me. They add so much to the texture of my fandom. I wouldn't trade them for any perfectly performed song.

  8. I do remember that I was one of the ones very vocally against Jaymes coming on the boards and posting with the fans. IMHO it is very unprofessional for Jaymes, Roger, Clay's friends, or Clay's family to share any information about anything to do with Clay's business.

Not when they do it with Clay's blessing, as I believe Jaymes must have had when she posted about JNaT.

My position as a fan has always been that Clay has critics lined up around the block, more than willing to tell him what's wrong with everything he does. He has family and friends to keep him grounded. I don't believe for a moment he's perfect (nor do I want or need him to be), I just don't think he needs me for that.

  9. Cindilu, what do you use to edit emoticon? Yours is a cute as a button - and would make a real nice button if we ever get back to that discussion.

    Later all.

Probably waaaay more info than you wanted, but I opened the gif of the balloon guy in Animation Shop, then exported it to PaintShopPro XI, erased the sign frame by frame, made a new animation with the PARTY sign, copied them both back to Animation Shop and merged them (then had to reset the timing frame by frame).

lil'couchie :RedGuy: I made using vector shapes in PaintShopPro XI (and a whole lotta trial and error!)TMI? I thought so!

ETA: roseviolet is a wise woman! *hi fives*

  10. Party.gif

Apropos of nothing really, did you know there are 52 frames in this teeny little smiley? Had to erase the sign part from each one individually. I am still squinting! LOL.

I hatesss commenting on any gossip page shstuff, but I'm totally intrigued as to why he would be going to Paris (if true). I can *totally* hear him saying, 'get the PM on the phone' (hell, I'm just glad he knows we have a PM and not a President, lolol). If the gossip mongers around him can't recognize a joke when they hear one - screw 'em! Vive l'Aiken!

ETA: Claygasm, I think it's hilarious too - and any fan who knows Clay would. The Canadian press however almost always like to portray him as a diva, so I don't doubt that their intentions were not meant in good humour.

  11. Can I ask a dumb question? (Yeah, I know. Shuddup.) Is the colour button supposed to work on here? All the others work with a hilite/click (the bold, italic, quote, etc.) but not the colour. I see that there are some posts with colour in them, but I get nuthin' when I click it.

Well I'll be darned! Good detective work there ldyJ You do have to open and close the tag, but it puts the colour code in there for you. Excellent!
