  1. BWAH! KAndre. It's SAY LA VEE.

I'd personally say - Vancouver. Even though I'm almost a Torontonian, to me it's just another urban center. And Montreal is Toronto, without the English. HEE!! You would fare better in Montreal without any french than just about anywhere else in Quebec. And I say that completely without rancour. I love the Fench, and I love Quebec, and I married a Frenchman (don't let our divorce throw ya off, lol). But the simple fact is, it's a predomimantly French-speaking province, and if you (they) don't speak English, you just don't speak it, you know? No matter how s-l-o-w-l-y or LOUDLY you repeat it.

ETA: If you are game to brave the possible language barrier, I would go to Quebec City over all three of these places. It is a wonderful, charming place. Very old-world. There is the Grand Alle (a street full of shops and cafes and galleries) and the Plain de Abraham, and Chateau Frontenac. I love it there, and would go back in a heartbeat.

I haven't been to Vancouver, but I'd love to. Having the ocean there is an added bonus.

    speaking of added bonuses...

  2. Ooooh, I like luckiest1's question! I think that if I win a mythical M&G (in my dreams, I'm afraid), I'll have him sign either my People magazine from last September (that centerfold... :hubbahubba::hubbahubba: ), or I'll find a cool picture from my collection and having him sign that.

I have another question, though. As I said earlier, my concerts are in just over two weeks. Both of my concerts are of the indoor variety. What does everyone think the "dress code" will be? I'm thinking a nice skirt/sweater set for one of my shows, and a nice pants outfit for my other one.

    Ummm... a DCAT t-shirt?mooning.gif

As for luckiest's question about what to get signed. *warning - people's whose head's explode at the thought of fanfic, turn awayyyyyyyy* When I was lucky enough to win one at Clio, I was soooo torn over what to have signed. My BFF convinced me to print out a copy of my story and have him sign it. So.. after much angsting, that's what I did! Today, I'd probably get him to sign my back. Yeah, I know it'd wash off eventually, but I have an autograph (and an autographed LTS), and just the THOUGHT of him signing meeeeeeee.... *phew* is it hot in herrre?

  3. Okay, here are the graphics for the DCAT and the I Did Clay ATDW shirts. I made a couple variations, so be sure you're clicking what you want. I made these as per recommendations from the CAFE PRESS site for regular black or white adult tees. They are 10" x 10" (3000x3000 pixels @300dpi). Thus, they are HUGE files on-screen. Make sure to biggie before you right-click/save.

Keep in mind you can not have front and back printing on the black shirts.

I have ordered a back DCAT w/words, so if you want to wait (as couchie suggested) until I get it, I'll report on quality. It said minimum of five days for a black shirt.

  4. As for what makes me cringe and why, it's just that I want for others to see in him what I have always seen in him - a sexy, intelligent, attractive, witty, and talented man.

And yet to me, what makes him sexy and intelligent and witty and attractive IS his ability to be all these things at once, and still make fun of himself, and be playful and be brave. Yes. Brave. He's the gutsiest guy I've ever (not) known. Cringe? I burst with pride and admiration. He is Clay Aiken - and he is proud and happy to be Clay Aiken, by all indications. What isn't sexy and intelligent and attractive about that?

couchie, rant.gif little dude is having a fit. Swearing, jumping up and down, waggling his finger, pounding his fist, throwing his arms up in the air, holding his breath, and screaming. What's not to love? (not to mention a whopping 169 frames to make the animation. Incredible!!!)

eta: can I be clayzedover when I grow up? Please? BRAVO!!!

  5. WOOHOO -- new thread for discussion of the globe-trotting Clay Aiken ... or what Bottlecap said!

While Clay has been celebrating his teacher's retirement, chilling, and flying to London in search of a producer, I received a link from a musician friend of an amazing performance on "Britain's Got Talent":

. (There are several versions, and the number of views, comments, etc., is unreal.)

Here is another: Six-Year-Old Makes Them Cry. (This video ends with Eva Cassidy softly singing the same song.)

Have a great day, all! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

    Caro listen.gif

Awww, these are even sweeter the second time you watch. The sincerity of the opera fellow, and his expression as he finishes singing is just priceless. And that little girl could melt rocks with that smile! What a sweetheart, and she sings... like a six year old girl/angel. Very, very sweet.

You know, you'd think after the years as an on-line Clay fan that I wouldn't be surprised at anything I read on the web. But some of the vile comments on that sweet young girls youtube are... I can't even come up with a word. I hate knowing that there really are such cowardly, hate-filled individuals in the world, so twisted that they would take the time to spew their bile at the expense of a six-year old child.

    Sigh.

  6. WORD Claygasm. That is why I didn't have a hard time believing that what happened to ATDW was simply de-prioritizing of the project with RCA. Of course in the fans eyes Clay's 2nd CD should and is more important than JT or Xtina's projects. But realistically...he is not quite in their league yet. I do believe it will happen...someday. But I am not that invested on being right. I just want him to have respect and a good long career.

The critics didn't have any problem pitting him against JT when the CD dropped though. I'm sure I read more than one article citing them as being in competition. *shrug* Not really something I want to debate anyway. He's *my* sexyback. Always will be! I've always said Clay will have exactly the career he wants to have, and I've never been convinced that involved being a superstar. I've seen nothing that alters that belief for me.

    eta: Ansa wrote

Yes they are in competition but not in the same level...YET. I think for RCA...he needs another multi-platinum project to be given the same priority.

And to get that multi-platinum project, he needs support, and to get support he needs another multi.... Kinda makes you want to run screaming into the night, huh?BANGHEAD2.gif

Have I ever mentioned that this rant.gif is my all-time favorite smiley?

  7. I think Kelly is in a redefining mode right now ... and I would call it a bit of a crisis when a tour gets cancelled just weeks before the opening date and days before the album release, and you've just fired your manager, and have been in a very public battle with Clive Davis. Doesn't mean she won't come out on top .. just sayin' that things aren't rosy for her right now. I wonder if she's considering Renshaw since he's known as a bit of a rebel in the industry.

No, things aren't nearly as bad right now for Kelly as for poor Taylor. He's had concerts canceled (the smaller venue kind), and they're having trouble giving away free tickets at the radio station here. People were winning radio contests and when told they had won Taylor Hicks tickets were asking, "Ya got anything else?" Finally, the DJ said something like, Okay people we've got some tickets for the Taylor Hicks show and if you want 'em, give us a call.

I don't think I'm overstating Clay's trajectory to the stratosphere. Clay is a phenomenon and I'm not going to downplay him in any way. He's going to have his own TV show, you know. He'll be a star in concert, in the recording studio, on Broadway, on TV, in Vegas, and he'll go international. I think Kelly Clarkson will be plenty successful in her career, but not like her old pal Clay Aiken.

Girl, I like the way you think!

As for all the Kelly stuff, mehhh, except for the actual fact of the cancelled tour - the rest of it just smacks of... manipulation. Every single thing I read just makes my eyes scrunch up and my mouth twist just a little more.

  8. FYI for fans who becamse fans after 2003

The clayboard store is having a sale. They used to charge a lot for things, but now there are out of print copies for not much off of cost.

They have BTOW single for $7 and WTWNN for $8 - I don't want to tell you what I had to go therough to get a cracked sealed copy, these are nre.

store you are not going to get these too many opther places for this price.

I guess they must have bought a boatload.

Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with selling this stuff, I just think it is worth looking into if you want a copy and missed it.

Wow, this is neat. I had no idea they even had a store!

Yep. But don't get too excited - they don't ship to Canada. *g*

FYI, the Clingle used to sell on CA.com for $20

I would love the WTWNN just because the 'B' side is one of my favorite things.

  9. re : gaydar

Son #2 was a CC runner in HS & College. He's got a true runner's build. Muscular, but long and lean. 6'1 about a buck fifty. He's always been his own person and never did one thing because everyone else was doing it or because it was cool. He has his own out there fashion sense and eclectic tastes. And he pings that gaydar thing. Now, I don't care if anyone thinks my son is gay. I don't care if he is gay. I want my children to be happy and I don't feel I get to choose what makes them happy. But the fact is that Son#2 is not gay. But that doesn't stop gay men from approaching him in bars and other public areas. Most are very respectful & some apologetic when he politely turns them down. To his credit he doesn't get mad, he finds it odd but also oddly amusing. He always says it's nice to know if the whole hetro thing doesn't work out that he's got options. *g*

I love your #2. BWAH. Good answer!

  10. cindilu2, I don't see our discussion here condoning rampant speculation of Clay's sexuality as much as it is speaking out against cyber-bullying and condemning what seems like draconian measures against people who don't deserve to have their pictures posted and their private lives disturbed. The point is that if the OC is annoying to one, one does not have to go there. I don't understand why some of the "fighting warriors for Clay" keep visiting a board they so revile, but then again, I don't understand the urge of those same "warriors" to continue feeding at the trough of hate at the hate blogs either.

Which is why I ended my post as I did - with my stance on the (disgusting) behaviour of those who did what you mention. The body of my post was in response to a specific statement, not the general conversation on the board. I personally have never even seen the OC site, or Chexxxy's, or even fff's. I wasn't fretting over their very existence. I don't 'defend' Clay to people, not on the net, and not IRL. (My standard answer to the is he? question is - a) he doesn't sing with his penis (how apropos!) and 2) either way, I'm not going to get to have sex with him, so why would I care?) I just wanted *my* position on the subject to be clear.

edited cuz it won't let me type B and ) - changes it to B) BWHAHA!

  11. think Clay has something already in his TOU about not discussing his sexuality. My concern is that we will get to a point where we are so over censored there is nothing left to read or talk about or any fans left to do it with. If I go to his OFC for news and we aren't allowed to post it because it might have a slight negative slant to it, if I have to put 1/3 of the regular posters on ignore, thenwhat the hell is the point in having an OFC? I just don't think it behooves anyone, especially Clay, to have heads in the sand and to try and shove everything under the rug. Not every diss is a career breaker for Clay. He isn't going to disappear just because some people think he is gay or makes a gay comment about him. Is he? He hasn't yet and they've been doing it for almost 5 years now. Homophobia and trying to rid Clay's fandom of gay fans or sympathisers is wrong. IMHO. Their money and support is every bit as good as mine and they have a right to be a fan just as anyone else. Clay has lots of gay fans and lots of fans that have gays in their families. Can't run them all off and nobody should be trying. JMO

While I certainly can't speak for everyone, I can most assuredly say that my distaste for the gay speculation about Clay has absolutely nothing to do with my feelings about homosexuality. They are two distinctly different things, and lumping them together isn't really fair. Because I equate informed fans still speculating about Clay after all he's said and done with calling him a liar does not make me homophobic. Oversensitive? Maybe so. But the fff's and the Conehead O'Asshat's of this world have bred that into me. Seeing Clay have to stare down Dianne Sawyer on national tv, when the focus could and should have been solely on his fabulous new CD bred that into me. It. Pisses. Me. Off.

I think Clay made it pretty clear that he is going to allow pretty much open season on him on the OFC, and god bless him for it. He's a better person than I am, and more guts than anybody I know. I absolutely loathe the tactics of the fan police who have harassed people like you, Clayzor. There is no excuse or justification that could make it okay. None.

  12. Interupting the festivities to bring some more Christmas tour news. From Claystruck53 at CB:

I just talked to the Morris Auditorium in South Bend, IN and was told that Clay will have a Christmas concert there on November 28th. They don't know how much tickets will be yet because the concert was just confirmed today. The box office manager said they would know in about a week and were looking forward to getting them up for sale quickly. I told her I didn't have any doubts that this concert would be sold out and to get their ordering system ready. She just laughed and said there should be no problem. (yeah! right) They have no idea do they? The website address is www.morriscenter.org. She said I could get the message out so get excited Indiana cause he's coming back!!!!!

How do people find these things out? Do they just keep calling venues at random? Never ceases to amaze me how this stuff gets out there. I wonder if Clay will ever actually announce a tour?

  13. Oooh look what I found, Kelly Clarkson thread :cryingwlaughter:

Although all this label talk is interesting and I guess relevant to Clay. Interesting that she left the Firm. I honestly don't know what any of these management firms actually do for Clay. I think it's pretty easy to look magical when your performer is the IT guy. But nobody stays the it guy forever, then what. I haven't been impressed by SAM, and wan't impressed by The Firm. Kelly stood a chance, a teeny one, in a fight with Clive maybe at the height of her popularity. I don't think this "narrative" was the way to go. I think it was mostly true but exaggerated to a really ridiculous point. I do believe The Firm came up with that strategy cuz they used the same strategy on Clay -- tried too soon to separate him from AI.

I think Kelly is one of the best young singers out there. I'm just not into her. I'm not into any of the radio pop princesses. And I heard her live 5 times too many during IT. :cryingwlaughter: Once would have been fine.

Carrie, I didn't like on American Idol...thought she had the personality of a turnip and wasn't really impressed with her singing. I love her album and I'm hapy for her success.

I do love other idols - KLo and Fantasia . Jennifer Hudson was my favorite from season 3. I liked Bo. I watched seasons 2-4. I loved Trenyce and Rickey from season 2. I think talented folks such as them made that season truly special.

    CLAY>..hmmmm he's a cutie.

You are me. Seriously, I could have written that post, except for the Bo/Carrie part because I never saw a show of that season (or season five except the finale).

I think Kelly is a great singer, but I am just totally overkilled with her. As far as I'm concerned, Ricky Smith was the most under-rated performer of all the idol seasons. I FLOVED HIM!

WTWNN with him, Clay and Ruben is one of my favorite things.
