  1. I think I'll angst over this tour before I worry about the next one.

I'm pretty sure the venue benefits in some way from everything that happens there, even if it's only covering its expenses. Not much truly happens for 100% charity in this world.

I'm just happy that Clay will be exposed to another group of new fans (a la the SCC appearance). It's all good.

  2. Tour book = photo shoot = gah! Pretty please, Clay.

Okay, I just read on the cafepress message board that you can not have front and back printing on a black (dark) teeshirt - front only. Also, the Value tees in white are front only. I also got a couple pointers about how to improve the quality of the image on black tees, so I will try them out and post any results if they turn out better.

Eep - now I'm reading that the process for printing on black is not friendly to 'halos' or 'shadows'. It does not like partial transparency, which is what the effect produces. What is says is, in order to print on black, it first lays down the image in white, then prints the colour on top of that. So, if there is any semi-transparent area, the white background will show through, giving it a white halo around it. Damn!!! It looks like I'll have to rethink the design for the black (if anybody is leaning that way). The process for printing on the white tee is completely different and it won't be an issue.

Does anybody have a relationship with cafepress already? I'd love to know if the current design would print properly. They say very emphatically that 'what you see is what you get' on the preview page, and it looks okay on there, but all the advice and FAQ's are pretty clear that it will print with a halo I'd love a definitive answer on that.

  3. I think the only reason I'm scared to add a list of tour stops is because it starts to look like official merchandise. Right now, we're walking a line.

Ah, that is true couchie. As it stands, it doesn't even have his name on it, per se. I'm happy to stay with this, and YSRN's.

Besides, SURELY they'll have some ohfishul merchandise this time, right? Right??? *crickets*

  4. Ah The Prayer...

I have loved this song ever since I watched the movie Quest for Camelot and I have tons of versions of this...Bocelli, groban, Charlotte Church, Celine...I have heard the solo and duet versions...I always wanted Clay to sing it. I understand what y'all are saying but I just don;t agree... I really loved his version precisely because he didn't try to do classical placement...he stayed true to himself and sang a pop version. yes there were some notes that was oversung...but there were moments in this performance that was achingly beautiful for me. I do agree in a way that Clay and Quiana didn't quite blend but I think its because of the recording. I do want to hear him sing this song on his own...with a bit more rehearsals.

I am admittedly behind in the conversation, but have to say this... I was there and in person? This was beautiful. Gorgeous. Mesmerizing. Maybe watching his face as he sang it made me hear it differently. Dunno. But it was beautiful.

The Church venue? I don't see the big whoop, but then I didn't get the outrage over YWT either. Clay's singing - I'm there. And it has nice jumbotrons. Heheh.

ETA: eeeeeeeeeee!!! I am just thrilled to bits to see the pin 'for real'. Can't wait to have one!

  5. cindilu2, I think one of the suggestions for that phrase (which is actually credited to bottlecap) was to put "I did Clay a thousand different ways, and gave him everything I had...." on the front, and then "...and I have the credit card bills to prove it!" on the back of the shirt. Does that help any?

Ah - front and back. That makes more sense.

  6. Do they put anything on the back (especially on the t-shirt)? If they do, listing the tour stops would be cool.

(Even though I still love the "I did Clay a thousand different ways.... and gave him everything I had.... and I have the credit card bills to prove it.")

    Ah man..me tooo...oh Cindy heee.

Hee! Looking at the site, it seems you can have something on the front and the back. Do you want me to do tour stops for the back? I think just a solid colour in easier-to-read smaller font would be good. White for black and black for white? Suggestions are welcome! The quote of Claygasm's (I did Clay a thousand different ways...) is terrific, but awfully long. Is there a condensed version?

  7. I think it's ok to be two separate shirts. People can by one or the other or both if they really like them.

I really like YSRN's shirt that she showed ..so I think it will be just a matter of figuring out which sayings and making the templates.

I like YSRN's too! I'm thinking I could make a large DCAT, so if somebody just wanted that on the shirt, they can have it too. According to cafepress's site, a transparent .png file is the best, and I will be happy to make one available (in both versions) for you.

  8. You'l be able to order your shirts online at cafe press if all goes well...

Cindy is working on the symphony tees... here is a white one up for discussion...and she's still working on the black to draw the colors out a little better. Will post when available. I like it on a tank top too. Feedback please.

ETA: Added the black tee..but as you can see it has some issues...working on it.. well Cindy is working on it. Heee I know nothing.

I don't know why, but when you click on the black background template, it enlarges with a white background and huge! (down, smutters!). I have to think the words would be much clearer 'in person' on the black - I printed it out at home and it's quite a bit brighter.

FYI, I added the little '...Col legno? ;-) ' at the bottom for a grin. (Playing with the wood? Doing Clay?) :eusa_whistle: It's totally removable though.

I also wonder... you could have just the 'DCAT' on the front, and I did Clay in.... on the back. Would that be cheaper that two t-shirts?

  9. Cindilu2 I think the denim theme is cute but its a pin and it is 1.5 inches so some of the details may be tough to really see...

That's why I reduced it to the smaller size Ansa, so you could get an idea of what it would look like. Is it 1.5" wide? How tall? I can make them 'actual size' so you can compare better if you want.

LOL, couchie, how big do you want it? (eta: heheh, that sounds like smut)

    DCATgroup.jpg

FYI, if you do decide to go with one of these, I can redo it in the small size, but higher resolution so it's sharper.

  10. Cindy I think people who buy pins don't care about what board is on them if they like them. But being a small board we will have a limited guarantee if you will. But yesterday I almost posted but removed it -- that if we do 2 pins, maybe one could be generic. So we were on the same wavelength. I guess I didn't post it because I really prefer to do just one pin. But that's up for discussion.

I think the pin is on its way to at least being put into play..

I have some thoughts on buttons and tshirts..but...on m lunch..heh.

Yep, I was just thinking out loud as it were. I would buy the pin too - because I think the whole idea Rocks! And I'm loving the irony of the acronym spelling D'Cat (heheh).

And for the record, I'm seriously in love with your avi couchie. Talk about a devil! Lookit that face! I can practically see the horns sprouting. Rawrrrrr

  11. Hey guys! I'm glad you like the pin design. I personally like the black one best too (though I like the flames *g*)

I wonder though - if you want to sell them outside the board do you think having FCA on there limits that? I know I bought lots of pins from other boards - just wondering out loud. Would 'The summer we did Clay' be easier to sell?

If anybody has ideas they'd like to see realized, I'd be happy to give it a shot.

  12. Well, I believe that Jennifer totally deserved her awards for this movie. She was born to play Effie White, and I don't remember the last time I was so moved by a performance as I was by her singing And I'm Telling You in that movie. I do wonder though, whether her talent will translate to any other role, much less a non-singing one. I just can't imagine trying to top the year she's had - and it will be a miracle if she can avoid the backlash that instant success in America generally comes with.

ETA: Now there's an upset I'd love to see - Will Smith winning for Pursuit of Happyness. I loved that movie, and he was terrific in it!

EATA: I think Beyonce was something like the fourth or fifth listed writer on Listen. There was some dispute at the start as to whether she'd actually get one if it did win. (They limit it to 4 I think)

  13. Someone on another board said on the BW special, Jennifer Hudson said she would thank AI because without AI she never would have been in Dreamgirls.

Did she thank AI when she won her GG? I don't remember anyone commenting on that but it seems weird she wouldn't thank them on the GG but would on the Academy Awards.

No, she never mentioned AI at all on the GG's. I like Jennifer and saw Dreamgirls twice - she totally deserves all the accolades she's getting for this role - she was born to play Effie. She made me cry - literally. (Just ask luckiest1*g*) However, she always came across a little on the arrogant side, even on AI. I think that's what turned people off her. I can't imagine how she'll follow up this year - it's going to be tough, because there sure aren't many 'Effie's' out there, and I don't know how her acting will translate to a non-singing role.

ETA: I thought her GG dress was black (or dark brown)??
