  1. Pam's House Blend NC: Raleigh native Clay Aiken to give equality speech at Saturday's HRC Carolinas Gala
  2. I like this blog... Pam's House Blend NC: Raleigh native Clay Aiken to give equality speech at Saturday's HRC Carolinas Gala Wow, I like "copy and paste" with this new board...
  3. My local newspaper looks more like the N&O. Everything on the front page today is local stories, including a popular columnist (who likes to rant about anything). The "hard" news gets relegated to the inside front page. I think it's got to be all about the sales, frankly...and that is sad. I still like it that Clay made the front page, though, and can't wait for reports from the event.
  4. Today's News & Observer picks up the piece from last night, and quite handsomely (and on the front page, no less). YAY! Link Also, from the CH, it looks as if the Associated Press picked up the story, which IMO means it should be on Yahoo News by the end of the day today: The Associated Press
  5. dailyme.com Clay Aiken Says His Upcoming Speech About Gay Rights Will Be "Hopeful"
  6. OT, but was in recent discussions around here lately...one more reason to get your IT department to ditch IE6. YouTube to Drop Support of IE6 So, for those of you in education...just claim that you need to be able to show YouTube clips in your classes, and the clips may not work with IE6 anymore. I mean, really -- you don't want to lose access to your Clay clips on YouTube while at work now, do you? I know it's a battle, but it's one that I'd fight, if I were you all!
  7. Hey aspiegirl! Very nice montage...I love things done in B&W.
  8. My favorite T-Bone is T-Bone doing his own stuff as in this You Tube (I have relatives in Palestine, Texas (actually pronounced Pales-teen in Texas, and I love that T-Bone intentionally called it Pales-tine in the song)). It nails the local culture. T-Bone Burnett - Palestine, Texas Wow!! I'll second that! When hubby and I bought the soundtrack to "Crazy Heart" last night, we also picked up one of T-Bone's solo albums. I'm definitely now a fan. That clip is great.
  9. All I recall about George Lopez and Clay is that Lopez was on Kimmel with Clay and talked about his wife being there that night because she was a total Claymate. I think that was the ATDW night. The Dude Abides! I love Jeff Bridges, but don't have a problem believing he's 60 (for obvious reasons)! In fact, I may fix myself a White Russian today in his honor and head off to see Crazy Heart. You'll enjoy it, I think. He really does the "faded country star" well. I wondered, when I walked in, if he was going to be "the Dude" all over again, but he's not. And I've got to say -- I've become a HUGE fan of T Bone Burnett. He's produced some of my most favorite music over the past 10 years or so, from the soundtrack to "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" to "Raising Sand" from Robert Plant and Allison Krause. The soundtrack to "Crazy Heart" is fantastic. YIKES! My husband and I have just started DVRing his show...and we LOVE him. He rips people too, but IMO he's also just so good natured about the whole thing. Also, he has this evil twinkle in his eye that makes me love him.
  10. Publicly apologizing to couchie and Clay (hee) for posting too much of his answers in the Q&A. It should be a perk to get people to join, and I goofed. Mea culpa. Meanwhile, I was off seeing Jeff Bridges give a fantastic performance in "Crazy Heart." What a good movie, and I hope he gets the Oscar. I can't believe he's sixty!
  11. Edited with LadyJ's knowledge while she's out and about enjoying herself - the "summary" was way too detailed - Q&A is proprietary fan club stuff. Sorry. (couchie)
  12. edited by couchie..too detailed of Clay's Q&A reserved for fan club
  13. treenut's link is broken, so here's what you need: Clay's videos on the Decca site Interesting....it sounds like they are aiming for a "complete" site for him. YAY!
  14. News from several places in Clayland today: Fountaindawg at the CH: Clay looks really happy in the group photo. For comparison purposes, last year's report said that over $100,000 had been raised so it looks like they had a nice bump this year. From getclayaiken.com Sounds good to me. :grin
  15. For jmh, and for anyone else who uses the PM archive...from the help files. So, it looks as if you mailbox must be full before the archive feature takes effect. Sorry to hear that the Ticketmonster search today was kinda crappy. BTW...love it that Clay called it "Ticketmonster."
  16. I agree jmh -- I liked that function too, with emailing the PM's to yourself. I'll keep looking for that option. Clay has answered one more question at the OFC. He confirms that they will be marketing this to PBS stations to show during pledge drives. His hope is that we "spread the wealth" a bit, because calls frequently result in repeat showings of the programs...which then adds more people to watch...and the circle goes on and on. And he ends the whole thing with, "Strategy, my dears. ha ha!" I wuv him.
  17. Yikes! Didn't see that. I do think we have unlimited PMs--if I read the settings correctly. I think there's an override on the limit for all members. I didn't find a way to archive PMs though. I miss that. From the Help File, under the section "Personal Messages": It looks as if you can create your own archive folder, or archive folders by person's names, or how ever you want to save messages, by creating your own folders. My message section says I can have up to 400 messages. I'm not sure if these folders would help alleviate that problem. I'll have to try it and see. Crap, the pictures don't show up. Crap. Sorry about that.
  18. bottlecap, I feel terrible for those people who are stuck with older browsers. I'm kind of in the same boat here, except that it's with versions of Firefox, and I can't upgrade. If I were you, I'd develop a "relationship" with those IT people, and tell them that support for IE6 is fast disappearing, and they need to get their act in gear! This wikipedia article is a good source of information on the problems with IE6.
  19. Seriously guys - update your browser. The internet's an ever-evolving thing, you know? IE8 or Firefox 3.5 will fix your issues and they're free. Or Google Chrome, which is now my browser of choice at home. (Firefox is that at work)
  20. OK, some things I think I've learned in the past half hour, playing with the new board settings. 1) In the personal messenger, it now automatically keeps a copy of your sent message in your "My Conversations" folder. No more remembering to check that little box to keep a copy! 2) I like the search function. A LOT. It automatically gives a preview snippet of the post with the word you searched, so you can quickly scan and see if the post is the one you want. If you want to go to that post, there's a little curved arrow in front of the selection, and that will take you to the post in question. 3) Will we still have couchie yelling at us to "View New Posts?" Heck, I never used it anyway. I always just paid attention to the color of the boxes in front of the posts, and that is still true. (If you want to clear all your posts away as read, it's at the very, very, very bottom of the screen; then, the next time, the color of the box in front of the post will be darker than the rest). I hope this one makes sense...
  21. I'm using Firefox here at work, and I can see exactly as I type. IE6, IMO, should be banished, but I know several workplaces still insist on it. bottlecap, can you "upgrade" on your own (or add another browser)? One of the nice things I discovered is that I can now look at new registrants and mark them as "spammers" if I figure out that they truly are spammers (such as those with email adddresses as "buyviagranow@gmail.com"). It will take a while to get used to, but I like it. bottlecap, in the top right hand corner of the page is your screen name. If you click on it, a pull down menu appears, and one of the options is "Messenger." In the meantime, convince corporate that IE6 sucks, and that they need to get with the program!
  22. :04: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCKIEST! liney, I hardly go to CV or CB, so if someone wants to volunteer and post a direct link to our board, that would be great. I've just talked to couchie too, and we'll be sending out that mass email later this evening. (Thanks for the idea cindilu!) Is it the weekend yet?
  23. The actual link for this messageboard: http://findingclayaiken.invisionzone.com/index.php? couchie and I were talking about this the other day, wondering if we could get a more "visitor friendly" URL that could be just typed in. We'll keep you posted on that.
  24. Congratulations merrieeee! And good luck finding new digs before your REAL new digs happen! I was extremely busy all day so I missed all the stress and angst. But I am glad everyone seems to have gotten tickets (and I'm jealous of bottlecap!).
