  1. Heh...knew there was a reason I was up! huffingtonpost.com Progress in Somalia Despite Difficult Circumstances
  2. Made it home yesterday, but it was pretty dicey. We ended up driving into a snowstorm with an eventual 7 inches of snow. My husband drove the entire time (3+ hours), so he's sleeping it off this morning. It's also still snowing this morning! My whole "leave it to the experts" thing is pretty much anything baked. Don't do pie crusts; barely make cookies, unless they are the all-in-one pan variety. I have made pizza crust, though -- just don't do it very often. It's nice to look forward to a week with nothing really planned at all. Love it! I hope Clay and Parker are having a killer time together this holiday season. I can just imagine those two playing with toys -- and probably the empty boxes as well!
  3. Just got back home from church about an hour ago. I played a handbell solo, which was fun. Then, hubby and I opened presents -- I got lots of DVD sets, which is great, plus accessories for my bicycle. Now, it's time for the umpteenth viewing of "A Christmas Story." Tomorrow hubby and I are going to my brother's for a day or two. I'll be taking the laptop, and we're staying at a hotel, so I should be able to check in. I just wanted to come here and wish all my friends here Merry Christmas! I love this place, and I love hanging with all of you!
  4. From Openly Clay: ...and Dick works here... http://www.osceolastudios.com/flash/index_flash.html on Boylan Ave, in Raleigh.
  5. Can someone tell me why exactly I'm at work today? We've had NO one come in, and only one phone call. But yet, there's 6 staff members and 5 student workers here. Of course, none of us feel like doing anything. So...why am I here? 'Cause they won't let us off without taking vacation time!
  6. My sympathies to the family and friends of Claysmelody.... Happy birthday to georgiesmybaby!
  7. spikesmom!!! Hope you have a great day... Two more days of work, two more days of work...
  8. aikim, I too love to hear those stories. They don't bore me at all! It makes me glad to hear stories like these, for that helps me know that the Project can make a difference! luckiest1, I hope you get an early Christmas present with notification that you got the job! annabear, Shubert is ADORABLE! My handbell choir played for the final time in 2009 this morning. Now we've got a three week break before we start again. In the meantime, I have to get a bell solo ready for Christmas Eve!
  9. Am I the only one who has no idea what this means?? I still don't understand how these work. Is this from/to Clay? or people talking about Clay? No, you aren't. I haven't the foggiest who is writing who, or why. The way I understand it is that "big4bones" found Clay's account on Twitter (which is really run by Decca, I believe), and asked that "Clay" reply to them. So "he" did -- with the quote "Happy Thursday." The "@" sign is how people tag each other -- so that you can know if someone is writing about you or not. This is how the Decca people know that Clay's being mentioned in tweets. I don't quite follow this all that much...but I do find it cool to get tweets from "Clay" every so often! It's that "fake personal connection" that so many fans dream about! (Except I guess, that not all of them want the "fake" part of it...LOL). Here's a video on how Twitter works. Here's a good page that explains the "@" feature. Sorry to hear about your daughter preden, but I'm glad she's OK!
  10. Am I the only one around here who follows Clay on Twitter via my cellphone? I got this last night, but was at a movie at the time:
  11. {{{{{{{family and friends of sassafras}}}}}}}} Adam who?
  12. Good luck to both luckiest1 and Scarlett today! My work has taken another turn for the crazy. We had a full time librarian (who worked nights and weekends, mostly), quit at the beginning of the semester. We have someone hired, but we're also going to be rearranging schedules so that the night/weekend thing is distributed equally. This is fun when people are totally used to having both nights and weekends off. Then, another librarian (at a different branch, who also works nights and weekends) quit yesterday. While he is working until the first week of January, and we do have someone in mind already, I've got to go through the same thing with THAT branch. AAAAAGH! Only 7 more working days until a break, only 7 more working days until a break... Topic: I hope Clay enjoys HIS work, and also HIS break...
  13. Ooooo, yummy banner! I so loved his look during the 2007 Christmas tour...but then, I'm a sucker for the glasses! Thanks cindi, and thanks bottlecap for the pictures too!
  14. You know, all day yesterday I was saying to myself..."What the heck election is Houston doing?" So, when I saw the results this morning, I had a "duh" moment...and then started celebrating! I've read what Scarlett said, that the campaign really wasn't all that nasty until the last few weeks. I hope she does a good job for you! Other than that...back to wrapping presents and getting them ready to mail. Also listening to Christmas music on shuffle via iTunes...Clay, Sting, Brad Paisley, the Charlie Brown Christmas album, and Straight No Chaser. It can be a whiplash inducing, but it's a cool mix IMO.
  15. New Tweet sighting, via CV: Also, a lurker at Openly Clay says that her sister heard on a Minneapolis radio station that Clay was spotted with Reed's Mom at a restaurant. Of course, both should be taken with a grain of salt...but I'm going to :04: nonetheless!
  16. USA Today Clay Aiken Investigation Dropped by N.C. Election Board The picture included is from his 2009 GLAAD appearance
  17. I think this was another of those blogs like he did when Parker was born -- the local media got a copy of it first, and then he put it on the blog as fast as he could... ...which is the right way to do it, IMO. And with what he has done in regards to his registration, he's now put the focus back on what he originally meant with his first blog -- to point out the terrible policies that this new school board is trying to do (actually, bullying to do). Here's an article, called "The Dismantling Begins," that talks about it. As for initialism guy -- when will people stop talking about him, let alone talking TO him? And yes, I know I'm breaking my own rule by even mentioning him...but he's a famewhore, pure and simple. He needs the attention, and by saying stuff about Clay, he knows he'll get it. On that note -- I'm going to try my best not to even think about him again. (Yeah, couchie, I pretty much had forgotten him too...)
  18. Boy howdy, so do I aikim, so do I... Smart. Committed to causes he believes in. Hawt. I'll take Clay Aiken for $1000, Alex.
  19. ldyj, was that response directly to you?? How very cool!! No, sorry...not a direct response to me. My twitter name is my screen name here. I wish it would have been direct to me! There are only three people I follow on twitter that I send directly to my phone: my workplace (which I figure I might need if we get the snowstorm predicted tomorrow evening), Guy Fieri (who is fun) and Clay.
  20. New Twitter from...oh, about 30 seconds ago (love getting these on my cellphone when I have the phone CLOSE to me, heh). cindi, I'm not Caro, but I think Clay's being "in the news" last week was because of his birthday, which was reported in many media (including ET).
  21. IMO, the poker challenge crystallized the reason why the team that won did. I'll wait until the West Coast gets this before saying much more...
  22. LOOOOOOOOOOVE the new picture. It's great seeing him out and about (no pun intended), and that smile gets me every time! Oh ausdon, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you feel better soon! Nice to see you again soulsista! I watched several PBS specials last night, including the one from an amazing vocal group called Straight No Chaser. Of course, it is also pledge time. Anyway, the pledge levels were: $75, a copy of their latest CD; $125, a DVD of the show I watched; $175, both bundled in one package. I think when the PBS special comes around for Clay (and I feel it in my bones that it will happen), it will probably be a similar deal. And yes, I'm a total sheep and would pledge to get the bundled package, even if I already had both. Why? Because I'd love to "tell" PBS that I like Clay and would like to have more programs from him on their channel. I think it will be interesting to see how many other fans would do this. But -- I think the point of a PBS special is to get OTHER people to appreciate Clay, and I think that would work spectacularly. JMO of course.
  23. I kinda think Clay likes the orchestra behind him, but that may just be me... From the CV: Fabulous Toys for the Holidays! That's some list of celebrities that Clay is part of. Woohoo!!!! Happy birthday Thankful4Clay!!!!
