  1. Atlanta Journal Constitution/Access Atlanta Clay Aiken Interview
  2. FromClaygary, there should be a picture of Clay at the top right hand side of that page. Click on that, watch the advertisement first, and then listen to Clay talk and talk and talk and talk. And talk. And then some more. What? You mean no "Crawdad Song?" I'm crushed. I was hoping that was going to be the supra sekrit bonus track. Heh. He only asked for each of us to buy 6 copies. He's so considerate of us all -- no more 7 copies, just 6. He knows there's a recession! And the Tony Award for Best Pooing in Pants goes to....Clay Aiken! I've loved all these interviews from him. I'm so glad he's saying that he really liked ATDW, and that he really likes this new album as well. He's so freakin' good.
  3. Thread title? Really gotta run, but I love all these interviews! I love reading his take on a few years ago, and I love reading his take on what's going on now. I love him. ETA: Can someone please post the link to the Atlanta Journal Constitution article? Thanx.

  6. Late Night TV Page This page started just listing the late night showlineups, and they expanded after a while to include some of the daytime shows. As far as the Kimmel thing -- who knows.
  7. Access Hollywood Video It's the Billy Bush audio from last week, but now we've got the visuals to go along with it. Two portions to watch.... Actually, I just watched it, and it's not the same audio per se. Some is the same, but it doesn't talk about TRM at all, and it does talk about him taking Paxil. I love the gold tie. ETA: from the public side of the OFC (which, BTW, has added updated pictures with Clay's new look -- none that we haven't seen though)... I think the only new one is the May 9 one -- Today Show (via MSNBC?!?!?! Hmm....I'm sure the fandom sleuths will find out more...Heh)
  8. Clayzor, I mostly agree with you about some of the "mother hens" in the fandom. However, regarding the duct tape issue...heh. Clay is actually the one who suggested that, in one of his OFC blogs right before the JNT 2005. And as far as I know, no one ever came to blows over that; in fact, more than a few people got a clue that flash photography at a concert isn't a real good idea (and that it doesn't help anyway). Man, I think I need to listen to deep voiced Clay again. Can someone hand me my walker? *g* cagney -- nice to see you posting here. I totally agree with you about "living" with an album for a while. I've revisited albums that I listened to once, maybe twice...only to find that I missed some gems the first time around. Heck, I've felt that way about some of Clay's songs -- Lonely No More didn't capture my attention right away, but soon, I was humming that song every chance I got. Oh, but it was the Black Crowes with the faux album review. Here's an article about it....
  9. cindi -- I actually do think you and I are saying the same thing. It's just that I HAVE read reviews that are about the music...and have then purchased an album because of said review. If I read a review of an album that really doesn't talk about the music, I ignore. So, are we on the same wavelength or not? Yes, the media is changing at a rapid pace. Why? IMO because of the internet...which is just as salacious, maybe even moreso. It's a weird world we live in right now.
  10. cindilu, I know exactly what you are saying. I'm an oddball in the fandom, for I have bought music (and seen a movie for that matter) because of reading a review. Having said that, if there's no actual, you know, TALK about the music, it doesn't make sense to me for me to even pursue it. I'm still trying to figure out the best answer to atinal's question, "is pop music dead?" My feeling is "no." And honestly....I think there is a wild disconnect that goes on between critics and what some of the general population wants. I know some people don't like the comparison, but I think Celine Dion is a good example. Sings pop songs. Derided by critics (and other people too, I know...but I like her). And sells a gazillion copies. I see Clay the same way. As Clay said -- here's to not caring.
  11. Good Lord....what was that? Man, I was getting the DT's after only an hour of trying to get in. I deem it time for a pretty picture....
  12. A great response to the People review, from Mandler at getclayaiken (with her permission): Mmmmmmmm...ice cream....
  13. Regarding the People review: well, first of all, it's better that the review for ATDW. For that one, they didn't even suggest a "Download this," which I thought was a crock. I also like that their suggestion for that was SAU. *g* Having said that -- I think muski is very right about the battle Clay will probably have for the rest of his life about "public perception." The "cool" media are almost always going to think of him as unhip -- something he readily admits, and something I frankly think he doesn't care about all that much either. I guess it all boils down to this: much of the media will never "get" Clay; Clay will never "get" much of the media. I think he realizes it as a fact of life for him and his career. cindi, I hear ya on the comparisons -- and yet, unfortunately, that's a fact of life with the media. It's shorthand for the writers, and for the general public at large. Off to listen to the snippet of FIEKY (that acronym looks WEIRD, heh) a few more times....
  14. WalMart snippets includes the bonus track! I like it. A lot.
  15. cindilu2, I don't necessarily think it's the behavior at the concerts -- it's the behavior BEFORE the concerts, such as during the ticket buying process. I've heard stories of fans mouthing off to ticket sales coordinators when shows were announced -- because they didn't get front row seats. What about those people who call the venues every half hour to see if they've booked Clay? (For the record -- I think calling venues every few months to see if they have any interest in booking Clay is not a bad idea. But there's such a thing as overkill....) And while it may be a minority that would do that -- damn it, we all know that the squeaky wheels get the grease. It may be totally unfair, but I think it happens. JMO. Or, what KAndre said when I was typing (and getting interrupted 5 times)....
  16. Saw this at the CH. Get those credit cards ready:
  17. Wow. What a great performance. Now, I've got to say that I watched the video first...and so I even don't mind the laughter interruptions. I hear that laughter, and I smile from the idea of all that silliness going on around Clay and Hannah. But their voices together? Amazing. Deep voice Clay is simply guh. I'm toast.
  18. Hmmmm....I'm not a "40's era person" at all (I'm 20 years younger than that) and I LOVED both songs. I think those two were my favorites that he sang that night. And -- that's exactly what he's been saying all this time. "I'm not aiming for radio play." I truly think he doesn't care....but I've had this discussion with others, and I truly do get the feeling that some fans DO care. And badly. Nah. Not a lost opportunity at all. Just a different audience. And I would guess that maybe half of the CD's sold here to QVC regulars. But that's a guess. And -- they haven't removed ordering his CD from their website either. Possibly. But I'm not in his head. Only my opinion -- but I think he does that with his tours. I think he cares very much about all those things. I know we've gone round and round about this Clayzor -- but I simply loved his "breaking down the fourth wall" during the DCAT. It showed that we have a snarky boyfriend, and I think he planned it that way. Actually, I was thinking about that yesterday, in conjunction with muski's thoughts on Clay not letting loose. I'm pretty sure there were teleprompters on the floor. It's very hard to see them, but I think I noticed them more than once. Honestly -- I do think there are "kids" out there that will like songs like TRM and SAU. They may not be plentiful, but they are out there. IMO, there's some reverse discrimination going on from time to time. Why do people think ALL kids like nothing but top 40? Or classic rock? I'm sure there are kids out there that like ballads. Are they chopped liver? One more thought...I think Clay's fanbase will expand. Somehow. Someway. I just don't know what the magic formula for that is. And it will happen with TIME. He's NOT going away, and I'm confident that he'll be around for the next 20 years. With or without an expanded fanbase.
  19. *sniff* cha cha doesn't read my posts! I posted that on the previous page. *sniff* ETA: Oh, OK. You're forgiven.
  20. Paula Deen Iseeme, I thought Paula's Party taped in Savannah too, but this blogger visited the Food Network test kitchens, which are in NYC. So it makes sense that Clay taped a segment while still in NYC. I just checked the schedule, and I doubt if it will be the May 9 episode -- with a chocolate theme. *g*
