  1. *sniff* cha cha doesn't read my posts! I posted that on the previous page. *sniff* ETA: Oh, OK. You're forgiven.
  2. Paula Deen Iseeme, I thought Paula's Party taped in Savannah too, but this blogger visited the Food Network test kitchens, which are in NYC. So it makes sense that Clay taped a segment while still in NYC. I just checked the schedule, and I doubt if it will be the May 9 episode -- with a chocolate theme. *g*
  3. Best Week Ever Blog Video included -- it looks as if Clay may be appearing on Paula Deen's Party! Heh. Actually, that gets another EEEEEEEEE from me, because I'm addicted to the Food Network!
  4. Oh geez. Just watched the Tyra clip (after a freakishly SLOOOOOOW download). That is the CUTEST THING EVAH! The girl was sufficiently freaked out, I would say. Clay was adorable. Tyra was adorable. And I loved his giggle after Tyra saying that she had the boobs to play the LOTL. (What is it with Clay and breasts in conversations today? *g*) I need to watch that a few more times.
  5. Maybe I'm weird, but I personally don't think this is such a big deal. Just because Clay is a big part of my world doesn't mean that more people around me should be following his career moves. The "casual" fans will come to see him will come to see him when he has a product to push, and when the logistics are right. If the logistics are right for him to tour in the west, he'll do so. KAndre you (and your tits) rock my world. *g*
  6. Tyra clack is up already at Clack Unlimited! Thanks Anonymous Donor!
  7. After sleeping on my original answer last night, plus reading some really good responses this morning...I think I'm going to say this is a terribly complex issue, and there are NO easy answers. muski, I'm one of the first to reply to your original post, and I'm the one who brought up the middle aged fan comment -- so don't worry about it, I get some of the blame for that. But I thought you brought up an interesting point with one of your responses. You said you would find it just as weird if it had been a 16 year old on the phone. I hear ya on that, and that's where I might need to take back a bit of my response on the caller from QVC. And yet...if there HAD been that 16 year old on the phone, and he/she said that -- I'm pretty positive there would be dancing in the aisle from some in the fandom. "YAY!!! A younger fan speaks! See, it's not ALL middle-aged women!!!" And that behavior on some boards would be making me roll my eyes as well. I felt the same last year during the Christmas tour when almost always the first question asked to the cellcerter was "how many men there?" I guess what it all boils down to me is this: a fan is a fan is a fan. It's really taken me 5 years to come to this realization actually. I used to be totally embarrassed by people with blinky lights on their heads, or having everything on their person with a picture of Clay on it (shirt, shoes, purse, etc.). Now, that seems tame by comparison. Anyway, everyone chooses the kind of fan they will be. I may not like it when some go OTT with their fandom (and everyone's version of OTT is certainly different -- just look at all the discussions on the McVargas girls, or Ethel), but I'm trying my best to tolerate them. And that's all I can really do -- just as I think Clay probably does with some of the more OTT (but mostly harmless) ones. (Anyone who threatens though -- different story....) Heck, as long as they are spending money on Clay... muski, you also asked about why OMWH was picked as a single. I've got a couple of theories about that (I've been in the same discussions with a few friends of mine about this). The most obvious reason for me is the Ryan Tedder connection. DJ's and PD's for radio stations tend to glom onto name recognition factors like that. Also -- who is "they" who picked the single? RCA, sure -- but I would venture a very strong guess that Clay helped with that choice. I think he loves the song, and I think he likes that it sets the lyrical theme to the entire album. Finally, I think there's a very fine line with the idea of throwing out a song that people will say "THAT'S Clay Aiken?" Some will be intrigued -- and some will be turned off. Hard to judge really. OK, I've got an interesting day at work today. Hopefully I'll be around later....
  8. EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Fandoms collide! Star Trek and Clay in the same show! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  9. muski, the only thing I'll even slightly disagree with you about is the caller at QVC proudly stating that she was a "middle-aged" fan. I personally think that for the media to stop focusing on the fans ages so much, we should be proud of our ages, and show that we can have FUN with our fandom, no matter our age. I'm proud to be a "middle-aged" fan of Clay Aiken, so I didn't have much of a problem with her. Having said that....the rest of your post? Pure genius. I remember one night a few years ago -- it was announced last-minute that Clay was going to be on Jimmy Kimmel. (I can't remember off the top of my head which appearance this was....) I posited on a board that I thought this would actually be good -- having the seats filled with non-Clay fans, in order to win them over. I think I still have the bite marks on my head where it was bitten off. It really made me sad to realize that a few of these fans had to see Clay every.single.time. I truly do believe that Clay will expand his fanbase, and better yet, he'll do it on his own terms. In a way, it's truly a mother-child relationship here, I feel. It seems that a few just don't want to let him out of their grasp, as if he'll fail if they aren't there to prop him up. IMO, it's time to let the "child" grow up, and give him the freedom work his magic on so many other people in the world who have no idea who Clay Aiken even IS. :clap:
  10. Number 1? Piffle. No PR? Piffle. The guy doesn't look all that worried to me. I think I'll follow his example. CG -- just follow the sounds of couchie sighing and you'll find the FCA party. *g*

  16. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Just got off the phone with couchie! Clothes report: dark suit, blue shirt, dress shoes. She's sure someone in the fandom will recognize it! Hannah had on a slinky black dress with spaghetti straps, plus 5 inch heels. So, of course, Clay looked SHORT next to her. Hee. Clay's name got a good response when he came on stage....and a GREAT response when he left the stage after singing. He and Hannah sang the song totally straight (with the crazy nun doing all the stuff in the background) and couchie is hoping that SOMEONE got some clack of it, audio at least. Money report: Spamalot came in second, with $264,000. Rent was first with $277,000. I think the only thing that hurt Spamalot was that they only did their fundraising for two weeks; couchie says that many of the other groups had worked for six weeks on this. However, I'm still pleased at the amount of money raised for a fantastic cause. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! ETA: she just called me back. She needed to tell me -- that Clay looked SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy! When they announced the totals, she said he was whispering in Hannah's ear...probably to joke that he came in second place again! Hee. Anyway, she thought he just GLOWED. EEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  17. As I said on a different board... Clay Aiken. Stimulating the economy. And a lot of other things too. Heh. cindilu2, I FLOVE the new banner.
  18. Very close race for thread title....but I think during his last week of Spamalot, it fitting to honor the Handsome Sir Clay of Aiken. Thanks to Hannah W. for the thread title, and to Clay for the butt squeeze imagery!
  19. I'm bored. Maybe I should watch something instead.... Actually, I'm just here to thank CG for her recap from yesterday. It's always interesting to get different perspectives on his appearances, especially ones broadcast on TV. I also wanted to thank KAndre for her partial recap (waiting for more, oh fearless leader), and to thank my buddy kf for her recap as well. I'm so glad everyone had a fantastic time. Last week of Spamalot. *sob* Yeah, I know....it's good that he's moving on to other, more exciting things. But at the same time, I think he's gotten so much out of this experience, and has made some really good friends (or at least contacts). I've loved reading recaps, seeing pictures, and just thinking about how much this show has done for him. It certainly has been fun, hasn't it? And the next chapter begins....
  20. If ya'll have not voted for the thread title, please do so! We may need to have a run-off election!
  21. You've said what I wanted to say. I think he did great....but I think he was nervous. There WAS a little roughness, IMO (not much, just a little), and the wonky eye was in full force. Made me want to give him a big hug, actually. I also think that these songs will grow organically in concert, a la ISY. He was definitely fantastic, and I'm totally satisfied. But I think we'll get so much more in the future. {{{{{{{{{{{{annabear}}}}}}
  22. Yeah. DVR's are a wonderful thing. He's so damn handsome. Sings well too. Interrupting with the announcement that the thread title poll is at the top of the page. I'll leave it until at least tomorrow afternoon....so we'll have an extra long thread this time....
  23. Oh wow. I'm thrilled. I think my favorite is SAU. To me, it had a fantastic jazz/torch song sound. Amazing. I'm in love with all of them though. Geez. It was good for me. 5:59 p.m. CDT. couchie calls me. I told her to call me back in a half hour! Hee. Anyway, she did, so I gave her the scoop on the QVC appearance, and she gave me the scoop on what Clay should be doing tomorrow. According to her, Hannah and another person (not sure who) did "The Prayer." They start off REAL serious...and then silly things start being tossed around them, onto the stage, etc. Hannah didn't break character. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be her and Clay together with the same song. Man, I hope someone can get that on tape....audio at least! Off to watch a few more times.
  24. The most adorable moment: when he almost clicked his heels together when Rick introduced him. Freakin' adorable.
