The gals are on their way back to their winter home and said it was probably going to be the highlight of their lives. It was worth every penny. Sally said a young 30'ish golfer (non-fan before today) told Sharon that Clay was fantastic. He said there is nobody out there quite like him. A woman at their table broke down and cried when Clay sang Unchained Melody. This was not a Clay crowd by any means, but I have a feeling they left as fans. Both of the man and the singer. Clay really worked the crowd and boy, do we know he can do that. I think I'll go cry now.

Just want to say that I was at the dinner tonight also, and didn't even realize that Katy won the dinner. I saw her video taping but I thought the other couple at the table were the ones bidding and the ones that won. In fact I got a small piece of video right at the end of the bid and Clay is taking a picture with some other lady and man I assumed those were the winners of the dinner. How nice for her that she won, and on her birthday, too. I also know the other girl that won and she is just so very excited too.

It was a fun evening, I went up to Clay and talked to him afterwards for a few minutes. What a sweet guy, ever the charmer for sure.

Lots of things up for silent auction...a trip to Mexico, a night at the Marriott, a Spa, some autographed Clay things,

and a lot of golf stuff, so I only bid on one item and won it. An autographed picture of Clay.

I tried taking pictures and video (after Kristy told me video wasn't going to be allowed) but the lighting was terrible and my camera was acting up for some reason. The video too is useless as one of the ladies at my table was moving a lot and always seemed to get in the picture just as I got Clay. He was standing on the floor during the auction and the chairs and people were blocking a lot of him. Then I saw Katy and figured she had a much better shot than anything I could get.

I can't add much to what was already posted. Nice blogs from Leslie at the newspaper, I met her this afternoon also and talked to her a bit, very nice young lady.

Katy4Clay's clack is being uploaded to the vault - and apparently Clay is looking REALLY fantastic in it!

I'm most impressed that Kareneh and Scarlett remember so much algebra! I haven't used it for years, so I've forgotten a lot of it.

Sorry! I tried all afternoon to get complete uploads elsewhere, but finally abandoned them overnight. When I can get to my computer, I'll be able to tell if any of them are complete or if I got disconnected again, as I did yesterday. It's been difficult, because the files are all so large. It's almost two hours worth of video, yo. Hopefully, I'll be able to post links later.

I'll be patient until you can get them uploaded. I have had problems uploading large files, too, so I understand! Have you ever tried megaupload? It's free, they allow large files, and it allows a lot of downloads. Just an idea for you.

Okay, so I have permission to post a link to the "movie" I stitched together from the Spamalot clips on YouTube. It was enjoyable viewing for me, imagining Clay in his role(s) and I thought those who are unable to attend might enjoy being able to "follow along" with the recaps (to know what the heck people are describing, in other words).

This is a yooge file, y'all, and because of its size, I am currently working to upload the movie in two parts, the links to which may not be available for hours yet. I'm posting the link to the combined video for those who want to get a head start or who want to view the whole show as one piece.

We all got the dreaded memo today at work. No internet, no instant messaging, no phone calls, honor the dress code ... yikes. 2 whole pages with stuff like "immediate dismissal" and "written up" highlighted every few lines.

Sharon's sister Sally (LOVTHEWINK) is already out on the course. She just called Sharon and said Clay is out and about on a golf cart and smoozing it up with the golfers. Sally has never met Clay before, but just had her picture taken with him! I thought he might do that and Sharon will have her call me when she gets back to the clubhouse.

For those of you wondering if Clay is the entertainment. Yes. She said it is in the program that there will be a "Special Performance" by Clay Aiken, accompanied by Ben Cohen on the piano. Still very few people around the clubhouse, but she expects the place to fill up this afternoon when the golfers come in and their guests arrive. There is an OFC fan meeting Sharon around 3:30-also the video guy's wife is a member at CV (I think), so that is why I think clack is forthcoming. Be patient.

There will also be other reports coming in later today when everyone shows up.

I just checked my notes....I wrote "Clay is looking VERY fit". Make what you want of that, lol.

Uuugg. My computer is not cooperating today. Sharon just called back. She had hung up when Clay and Jerome were walking back to the clubhouse. She said he walked right by her, but she was too shy to look at him. Lordy, how can you not look at him?? She has had a meet and greet with him, but doesn't want to look too fangirly (she is, tho). Anyway..there is a fan's husband there who is taking video. If she sees him again, she will ask him if the video is going to be hosted at any of the boards. Several people have video cameras, but it may just be for personal use. Sharon thinks most of the guests who are allowed as a friend of the golfer are coming later in the day. She is wandering around the clubhouse almost alone. Diane is not there now, but Jerry Aiken came up and introduced himself and chatted with her.

I asked about the hair again. You can't have too many hair descriptions, right? She said "no bangs". It is swept off his face and sort of "blowing in the breeze". Beautiful. He has been very friendly and relaxed and not minding all the cameras. However, Jerone is always looming. As he should.

Clay Aiken's Golf Tournment, Part 2: It's the Clay and Wayne Show!

Former US Open and British Open golfer Wayne Player, son of legend Gary Player, may not have had the career his dad did. But during this morning's golf clinic at Mirasol's "Golfing For Inclusion," he's proven to not only have a heck of a swing, but to be an energetic, theatrical teacher that might make him the Professor Harold Hill of golf ("He's the golfing man, and he gives golfing lessons to the swells in town!")

For about 30 minutes, Wayne gave some pointers on golf, some ruminations on growing up in the light of his father, and made Clay Aiken his second banana. He also demonstrated how to properly aim a swing by not knocking off the head of our good friend and Clay fan Pam Bassett, who he had stand nervously behind him as he swung.

"Do we have her check yet?" Clay joked, as Pam covered her eyes while Wayne swung and hit the ball, as promised, really far and nowhere near Pam's head. Everyone was impressed and Pam was happy to still have a head.

Clay told me a few weeks ago that he's not a good golfer, and Wayne himself joked this morning that he's probably a better singer than Clay is a golfer. But after twisting Clay around during his demonstration like a Stretch Armstrong doll, Wayne says he may have been wrong. I won't bore you with all the golf terms, because I don't know a dang thing about it, but basically Clay hasn't been good at golf because, he says, he's "duck-footed."

And he kinda is. But Wayne switched his feet around and explained that golf is about the right stance and about fighting the natural urge to swing back really wide. Actually, the swing Clay wound up with reminded me of Pilates, where you keep your core solid and strong, rather than swinging around flailing. (And that reminds me of the recent LPGA event I attended with the "Golfing For Pilates" clinic by the ladies from Canyon Ranch. I love me some synergy.)

Wayne also explained to the assembled golfers and spectators, including Clay fan Sharon Kays who's here all the way from the Quad Cities, Illinois area, that a golf swing is not "lethargic" but "an act of violence."

Jigga who?

No, seriously, he says he phrased it that way because the power has to be deliberate and focused. He wasn't advocating slapping people with your clubs when you stink up the golf course. Wayne, who's a charming, charming man, took some time from his golf lesson to explain how having three kids in good health, like son Nicholas, who was sitting nearby, made him consider how important charities like the Bubel-Aiken Foundation are - "They're included," he said of his kids, as opposed to the kids with disabilities who need programs to provide facilities for them.

All this has made me possibly want to take a golf lesson, because I do Pilates and can at least swing my body around right. I might still stink up the joint. But I'll look pretty doing it.

As I postwhore to make up for last night, Did Quiana sound like she had a cold to anyone else? I thought it was a cute interview of her and it was nice that we finally get to see her being interviewed. I would still like to see her winning idol performance, although, I must admit she could beat Clay's rainbow song easily, such an melismafest and I am sure she dressed better - Which brings me to the issue that bugs me. People keep talking about Clay's sweater, but I can clearly see he was wearing a print shirt with white collar and cuffs.ReallY! Long ago issues still do roll around in my mind. Perhaps that is why I am starting to resemble an elephant in so many ways.

It sounded like she either had a cold, or was really tired. I thought it was a cute interview, too!

Clay will be on The View later this month.

This is my only day off this week, and I have a LONG list of things to do. So, here I am sitting at the computer instead, reading and posting about a golf tournament happening in Florida. And my sister and brother-in-law are coming over in an hour. Yikes! I'd better get going!

But I'm sure I'll be back ....

I just got a call from Toooldtobehere (Sharon). She said the weather is gorgeous and Mirasol is a very classy course. Her sister LOVTHEWINK (Sally), is signed in and taking practice shots right now. The scramble begins at 11:45. Diane Bubel is at the registration desk and os registering and welcoming the golfers. She also recognized Sharon from a past meeting. Gary Player is there, but she doesn't see anyone else she knows right now. The auction merchandise is set up on tables and there is lots of autographed Clay items. Magazines, pictures, cd's, etc.. The bidding ends at 6 pm. Clay arrived yesterday, but she has not seen him yet. She has promised to call when she sees Clay.

I'm glad to see we have other reporters there. Should be a good day.

i am so glad the board is up again this morning. i panicked when i couldn't get on last night and thought i'd gotten myself banned. today, i am heading out to get my hair cut and colored cuz i don't want any of those gray hairs showing when i go to see our boyfriend. and i loved that article posted today. he is so adorable.

Heee, I think it takes a lot to get banned from FCA. Colored ink is rare. You'll occasionally see stillettos or - YIKES! - sporks, however, but it's usually in fun.

A. I play more than one character - I play three or four people, but my major role is Sir Robin.

Wheeeeeeeee! We have verification! Some of the other roles he plays are hilarious, too. I can't wait for this.

Yeah, I'm sad about that, too. We've been spoiled by having so many things to look forward to! At least we will be getting periodic reports from people going to Spamalot throughout Clay's run as Sir Robin (and other roles!).

I wanted to thank Caro for her great inclusion of FCA in her blog. Sales took a really big surge and we will probably double expectations which means TBAF will get a decent donation this time around.
