  1. preden, as it's just going to be my mother & me and we've got a room reserved with two double beds, we could maybe share. :) We've also planned for 10/16-10/19.

    Although my mom is over 60, I still can't get a room to come up for $118 with the sr. discount... :huh: The lowest rate that comes up is still $139 with no discounts checked...

    I think that they only book for 2 but if it were possible to be 3 I wouldn't mind since I've met you and it would be fun. Let me know for sure if you wouldn't mind sharing with me. It would still be less even with no discount and convenient to be at hotel of gala. We don't even know yet if we can get tickets. Hope everything works out. I'm getting excited!!

    We wouldn't mind sharing with you at all! :BlowKiss: Three people shouldn't be a problem. They might even offer a discounted/block rate through the foundation/gala at a later date, which we should be able to call & work out with the hotel if that's the case.

    You're right - we don't know what the ticket situation will be yet!! But as they release more info, we can keep in touch and solidify plans. :04:

  3. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!

    Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...

    The dead rising from the grave!

    Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

    Of all the quotes in all the movies in all the world she picks that one *g*

    I didn't even think of the autobiographical reference, but that pretty much is my life right now! :hahaha:

  4. Although I have always wondered what would happen if we gave everybody admin powers for the day. :hahaha:

  5. Re the hotel:

    Actually, annabear, there is a Sr rate of $118.00 per night during the dates of the Gala

    <snip>

    every.single.person I know that stayed there was overcharged for their room in some way or form

    I'm not finding this too surprising since when I look for a room for 10/16-10/18, the rate coming up for me with the sr. (my mom will be coming) discount is $237/night!! :huh:
  6. Thanks clayzy, luckiest & fear.

    So sorry annabear. That is a pretty long life for a cat. I hope your mom feels better after it's over and reflects on the cat's long life. :thbighug-1:
    She just called me and was feeling a bit better. She said Peaches looked very peaceful and she knew she wasn't in anymore pain. She had become rather crippled in her old age and just went down hill really quickly over the last couple of weeks. This weekend she pretty much stopped eating and drinking and hardly moved off the couch. Part of mom's upset is that Boots is pretty old too and is not in the best of health either, so she knows her time will probably be coming soon.
  7. If you wouldn't mind sending some good thoughts our way today.... my mom called me this morning, crying, she's at the vet right now having to have one of her cats put to sleep. Peaches just turned 18. We adopted her while I was still in high school, after our dear Sylvester had died. She was always a rather crotchety, little old lady-like cat, but we loved her nonetheless. We joked now & then that she was my grandmother, reincarnated - she even had the Allen family hump-nose profile!

    Night at the Tavern, Family Equality Council’s annual New York City event will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Tavern on the Green in New York City. The event brings together LGBT parents, friends and allies to celebrate the progress we have made as a community of loving families towards full equality. In 2009, Night at the Tavern will feature a cocktail reception, a full-course seated dinner, live entertainment, a silent auction and the opportunity to mingle with old friends and meet new ones. At the event they will be honoring Platinum Recording Artist Clay Aiken and Director of Center Kids at the LGBT Center in New York Terry Boggis and will have a special guest performance by Linda Eder.

    This is AWESOME! :clap::wub:

  9. Hi :hello:Gibby! Haven't seen you around much lately. :BlowKiss:

    Glad your bunny found a good home as the class pet, tribeca. :) Gnocchi was about 4.5 lbs when I first got him. He's gone through a pretty good growth spurt over the past couple of weeks. We go back to the vet for round 3 of puppy shots tomorrow night. I'm guessing he's at least up to 6 lbs. He should get to 10-15 lbs. full-grown.

    Thanks for bringing over the transcript of Clay's speech, ldyj. As others have said, I also think it sounds like he wrote it. Reading it just makes my heart swell & my face grin. :wub: Yet again. :wub:

    Oh, and I love his little plugs for ANTM! :lol:

  10. {{{ncgurrl}}} I'm so sorry about Nigel. Sixteen years is about the last time I had a dog.

    Aww, those floral puppies are adorable, spikesmom. :clap:

    Piper looks so serious! She's got such an expressive face - I love it! :puppykiss: I don't know if you have PetSmart up there, luckiest, but one thing I found that really helps to settle Gnocchi is a heartbeat pillow.

    My little guy just had a bath. He's not crazy about them, but he does pretty well.
