Skybar... it was an advice to this geeky auditioner. The kid was tall and thinwith glasses...but curly hair. He had this clip saying he wants to be a US president. He sang ok ...not Clay Aiken good but still was a pleasant surprise...I think it was one no and one yes, I think Paula was making a decision and they asked the kid if he would rather be on idol or politics and the kid said he would do anything to get on idol...SO Simon asked...do you promise not to do what Clay aiken did...have weird haircut and wear a red leather jacket...paula then said and sing Grease is the word...and she was all smiles. To me it was more like teasing. Simon always made fun of the hair and hated that red jacket.

BTW what was the hand wringing for? I don;t get it. I understand getting pissed at the perceived diss...but what are people worried about?

Yup that was an interesting interview...and he was not as irritated to answer the Rosie and gay questions. I think he prett much expected those kind of questions from bloggers.

That was it? That was the diss? I was expecting somethiing way worse....I was watching Idol off and on tonight - for me, Simon and Pauler and Randy are not even interesting any more, very predictable, kinda boring. I see what Clay means - it is like looking back at high school. Feh.

Yeah I didn't even take it as a diss...more like teasing. It was just about the hair and red jacket...it was an obvious thing to say because of the auditioner.

I don;t hate Simon either. I don;t love him but I think he is the most interesting person in AI. I also often agree with his critique on the show...not always of course...specially in season two since I totally loved grease...

The Clay reference...I saw it a mile away. They have to mention him and really its just the old joke about the hair and the red jacket...more like teasing in the family. I really love it cos it just reminds people about one of the best stories that came from AI. And really simon usually forgets things contestants does...but he still has the red jacket in mind after all these years??? Heee ... Clay is truly memorable...

It was just hilarious. I have the Broadway recording and I have been laughing along to it..but seeing the whole show was just something else...Clay will have so many parts...I think he is on stage the most other than arthur, and he has a lot of lines too. His big number is also on of the most complicated in the show. Lots of dancing parts and the piano playing...even DHP faked it ...hee

Sorry, I didn't mean anything about the source but they did have a nice blurb about him, which kind of shocked me. I'm interested in the music business, good and bad. Clay and his management ( I'm guessing) have done a fantastic job of image control recently. And the Spamalot people are doing great job with the publicity as well.

I'm a happy fan.

Hee ...no worries, it is an interesting question. I think when shows do publicity...they want to use all the popular outlet. I also bet they simply sent a press release with the pictures and they don;t have the control on who decides to pick it up.

at this point publicity is good.

I wouldn't get too excited about a May release. I would bet money it will not happen. Remember, this is the man who said "soon". I don't think an album ever drops close to the first date - or month - we hear. When will he finish it? No way is he done yet! On Mondays? I think on Mondays he will sleep!

Nah. I still think it will be a late summer or early fall release. I just don't think a May release is in the cards. I just don't trust Clay's sense of time!

Of course this is not written in stone...but what makes me excited about this info is the fact that this is still the target date as of now....that means they are working on it, no delays yet and I think that means the work is going good with the producer and hopefully with the label. If this is the target date...then we will probably start hearing more about the album once Clay gets settled with spamalot.

About the recording process....I don't think we can tell how much time he truly has in the day to do this. They will find the time for him to record if he needs to. Clay and the label have a better grasp of the amount of work that has to be done...that is why I am optimistic, cos they wouldn;t be saying May if there is no way Clay can work on this during Spamalot...they know what kind of schedule he faces.

If its delayed...I won't mind that...it happens all the time and I do expect it to happen with this. But I will not be surprised if the May date holds...

all I can do now is...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

eta: I also don;t think this date is only coming from Clay...this has to come from the label as well...

You know, I thought that the Grace Slick/Alexis chick sounded pretty good. A lot better than some of the folks that have been put through before.

Yeah she did but I agree with the judges...not really a good fit with AI but could be good with a band. So they really were very good with her.

I wasn;t going to watch tonight because the commercials have been pretty disgusting to me...the people they were showing were just ridiculous. But ...nothing else to watch so I succumbed. Well...I was pleasantly surprised by the first guy...

Don;t know his name but he lost 205 pounds...he was pretty average looking...then he sang a Maroon 5 song...loved his voice. Sweet falsetto sound that really sounds beautiful...he sounded better than maroon 5...

anyway...it was downhill from there...

so far...just in the first half hour.

Wow three more guys with fantastic voices...lets see if they will get far.

What I loved is when he said he realized that most of the people that made it far in the competition didn;t like to just sing to others either. He said it seem like the ones that always sang around him were off key and it used to make him feel better.

That video sure makes up for that picture they are using of him...its like two different people.

Could I ask a policy question re: Spamalot.

I know that the vaults won't be hosting Spamalot videos (as they shouldn't), but I'm sure that some will make their way to YouTube because they always do. My question is, if we should find video on YouTube, is it ok to write about it on the board, post a link, copy the video and post a link to download the video, post a "PM me for a link" note or all or none of the above?

The admins and mods will have to talk about this. Personally...I don;t think download links should be posted on the boards. You Tube links...I think people should just check you tube on their own. Clay made a specific request and I think we should try to honor that.
