  1. FearofH20, I agree, it has been a long time in the fandom since I have felt this overwhelming excitement coming from almost everywhere. It brings back so many memories of the early days in the fandom.

OOlsee, thanks for pulling together the Spam downloads, I've got them ready and will be watching them tonight.

ldyj, great idea to have Spam and eggs for dinner tonight.

It's almost here, I'll be in row EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee too

EEEEEEEEEEEEE atinal join me at the spamalot discussion thread to chat about the show....I got it set too.

    BREAK A LEG CLAY!!!

We're not dead yet but this excitement might just kill me...

  2. I can't get one single constructive thing done, I'm so nervous.

This is worse than losing my viriginity!!!

I've gone shopping, petted the cat for an hour (she's in purr heaven) and now, I'm going to go to a movie to kill a couple of hours.

God, if Clay's ever in a movie, I'll probably drop dead outright.

I have no problem getting distracted. This day started out quietly as the girls all left for school and it seemed like a clear day. 9 am the snow started to come down....really strong. By ten daughter 2 and 3 comes home...11:30 daughter number one is home with 2 firends that were supposed to have a sleep over tonight. So now the house is very busy with three teens in the kitchen baking and caitlin going all over the house with a toy electric guitar plaing rock star.

All I want is to quietly go crazy with excitement and watch the boards...but nooooo this snow day made me a busy mom!!!

oh well at least the time is going by faster....

  3. My eye has started twitching, I'm so nervous.

I don't know why--I expect Clay to be wonderful, but just reading that he asked Diane Sawyer not to come tonight because he's so nervous, made my heart just pound for him.

(Did I read that here? I'm too nervous to remember. If not, I read it at CV.)

The great thing about this is...opening night has tons of fans...so he will have lots of love whatever happens. If he messes up some stuff tonight...he can fix it tomorrow and the next day. This is not a one shot deal. He will be growing with this role and I'm sure in the end it will be like his second skin.

I think its just scarier cos he has never done this before...He has been on stage when he was younger but never in a role as extensive and complicated as this. Its wild to think his first real big stage role is in a tony award wining musical on BROADWAY...that is soo overwhelming for anyone...I think he just needs to get through it once and he will settle in pretty well.

((((those that will miss this show))))

I guess I am handling it better cos I am used to missing Clay shows...but I usually have clack...I don't know how I will be with no clack from this. I just need to hear his voice and that accent. That is the one thing that is difficult with imagining Clay in DHP's place. I don;t know how he will sound...

  4. I have a few questions for those who have watched Spamalot several times. Clay is obviously in all of the Sir Robin scenes, but he's also in a couple of other scenes. Is his first appearance as the drunk guard in the wall? And then he will be in the 'not yet dead' scene where he talks about enlisiting as a knight?

Clay will also be playing Brother Maynard, as well. When is this scene - is it is in Act I or Act II?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide!

Brother Maynard is in the last act...in the killer rabbit scene. He actually has some of the funniest lines...I think he is also the smart ass guard guarding the Herbert. Thats in act 2 too...at least it looked to me like it was DHP in that scene.

I really think this is the second lead after King Arthur cos he is on stage a lot!!!!

  5. I am not sure which thread/sub-forum to post this in, but since I've been living in THIS one, it might as well be this one.

Last year, I joined another Clay forum and was disappointed with it, I really felt lost and like an outsider, and the forum wasn't user-friendly for someone with my limited technical skills. I can't believe how helpful everyone has been in this forum and so willing to help me catch up with news and information about Clay, not just here on the board but in PM as well. And the forum colors here are beautiful and so easy on the eyes. I really want to thank those responsible for making this such a great place and most of all, such a welcoming place for someone like me who has so much to catch up on. My intention originally was to lurk and soak up everything I've missed, rather than post, but now that I've found that my posts bring me even more goodies, I guess I will lurk AND post.... lol

Aww thats sweet. Thanks for the compliments. glad you are joining in too. Its great to meet fans that wasn't around from the beginning. Lots of people willing to fill you in. BTW....if no one answered the question about the bible quote you can pm me.

  6. Hm... you know how when a Broadway show is successful... it ends up as a blockbuster movie?

And you know how a former Idol finalist who did NOT win Idol but was cast in a major role in the movie version of a Broadway hit ... and won the biggest movie award of all?

OK.. now you know what I am thinking :party038:

Hee...I was thinking of the same thing. Its not the first time the broadway version of a film was made into a film...hee.

    ok...temper expectations...temper expectations.

BTW...for those that want to get a dl that 00lsee put together...this post has the links to the 5 smaller parts. Claytonic...00lsee was so kind as to hunt down all those you tube clips and put it together in order so that it will be easy to see the whole show. Now this will never replace seeing the show...but its just great to know what he will be saying and singing and not be in the dark when those that see the show start discussing it.

  7. Bring on the dancing bananas!!!!

    :manynanas: :manynanas:

and in honor of Clay's opening night....a banana chorus line!!!

    :nanarow: :nanarow: :nanarow:

I created a spamalot chat and discussion thread

I don;t think we will be very strict about where we should post things about the show but I thought this would be a good place to have for those that wants to discuss the show in detail. This will be a spoiler thread so those that want to remain unspoiled...beware.

I also got an idea from ldyJ...to watch the dl tonight as the play is going and as I check out the boards. So if anyone wants to join me in chatting about the show as it happens...we can do it there.

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  8. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Spamalot opening night is finally here!!!!

Thanks to 00lsee I will probably watch my dl as the play is going on and imagining Clay in the role...of course I will do that as I watch the boards for any new reports....So I figure we can use this thread to chat...give cellcert reports and then later discuss the play in as much detail as we want.

For those that wishes to remain unspoiled...beware cos we won't be using spoiler tags.

So I hope to see you guys tonight in this thread....

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

RVzlady has generously allowed me to upload the spam media to a more permanent home, this time in five, very easily digested clips.

No frills, but still much easier to watch (and download) than more than twenty youtube clips, that's for sure. Those who would prefer the set of four files, the set of two files or the single (huge!) file, please let me know if you have trouble acquiring those, as I will not be babysitting those links.

    Anyway, here are the links:

    part one of five

    part two of five

    part three of five

    part four of five

    part five of five

For those who like to read the end of a book first, Sir Robin's big number is at the beginning of part four.

I'll add this quote from 00lsee here in the first post so that we have easy access to the dl links...

These are not as good as having actual clack but it will do in knowing what the whole show is about...

  9. This is a great article with quotes from Clay about Mike Nichols:

    http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/a...way.html?page=0

Aiken has been relishing working with legendary director Mike Nichols. "He knows so much you have to be a sponge around him," he says. "He's the funniest person I ever met, so dry and wise."

He's even appreciated the rather bizarre visualizations and motivations Nichols uses. "He was trying to teach me to react to something," says Aiken. "He said, 'Imagine if you came in and we said, 'Every fifteenth performance, we cut off a toe.'"

Wow this article is great!!!! They actually talked to him about the play....way too cool!

I think I know where the cutting the toe line would come handy...and I wonder how they changed some of the lines and songs.

OMG...I remember when eric Idle was in the audience during AI2. He really was a fan. How surreal is that!

  10. Too bad...I wish she just played it straight cos she seem talented. But that video would;ve come out whatever she did. was the confederate flag and naked guy in context?

It seems pretty easy for people to get a video done...Brooke also has a video in her myspecae...very simple but nicelt done...good shots and looked more professional than Kellie Picklers first video.

btw...I think its ok not to spoiler that info...its all over the the internet now and is part of her story.

I think the only thing we should spoiler is who will be in the 50 or 24...

  11. From Joe'sPlace on IDF

    Brooke White

    Residency: Hollywood, CA

    MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/brookewhite

My free membership does not give me search options on IDF so I can't search out what has been said about someone, I don't see any notes about prior experience and Joesplace is usually pretty good about noting it.

Thanks for the link ...her songs are great and she sounds soooo good. I am going through my girls playlist and she fits right in there. I hope she goes further. What a great voice.

  12. Well, I am not completely unspoilered, I know about the look (which I don't consider spoilering), I know about dancing and not much singing and the chicken to some degree, but I really don't see why every.single.line and every.single.scene from the play has to be discussed in detail before Clay even opens. I mean, why were there spoiler threads set up anyway, if not to keepthe detail off main threads? I have no problem with general character discussion or general play discussion, but some boards are posting damn near every joke line... I going to opening night and I would kind of like to be able to laugh freely at jokes, not just wait for specific punch lines. [/end of joke line rant]. I watched on video of the Spamalot months ago and decided that it was too much to know before I go.

Here is the thing, and I realize it is just my opinion, I am sick to death of Clay comparisons and with all this play stuff out there, I know there will be another round of who is the better Sir Robin. I am well aware this will happen and somehow Clay will fall short and some fans will be rougher that the worst of the critics and I do know enough to stay off the boards after opening night. I do believe the fandom is wearing me down and poltics is getting more interesting and drawing me in.

maybe if I could just sell my house by February and buy that bear, I could feel better about it. I see the over the top anticipation and I dread Saturday. I need a break. groupe010.gif

Oh my...is the spoilering really bad? Thanks for reminding us. I know I have tried not to give too much specific details.

I do agree with Lucky that watching The Holy Grail might be a good idea...but I did try not to watch the whole show until Clay has opened...but with the no clack policy...I knew I may never see this performance so I watched the download imagining Clay in DHP's place. if I was sure to watch the show in the first month...I think I will try not to watch the original because I don;t want to be influenced by how DHP did it. I think Clay;s performance should be judge on its own merit.

Should we create a spamalot discussion thread for people that want to be spoilered???

  13. oh and the one thing that I don;t like is that they conceal it from the public and do made up background stories. If its true she tried to be a singer before she can say that ...but nothing happened...its up to the public to overlook that. If a person really has the talent then why not give them a chance . What is stupid are the fake stories. If this girl really sold her favorite horse...then thats fine...but don;t make up stories that people find out in the end...it will just back fire on them IMO.

  14. SO, did you see the girl who "sold her horse to audition", Ah these heartfelt made up stories.

If you want to know more about her - and you might not really be happy reading it - 'American Idol' Fans Weigh In On Connected Contestants

As to p[eople who think that season 2 did not have any experienced people, Josh Gracin was signed by a tiny label when he was 17 and had a hit single, but the guy who ran the label ripped him off and took off - so Josh never got a cent.

that was a disappointment to me cos she really seem a bit unsire of herself...not too flashy...I liked her a lot.

Is there anything about Brooke White...I liked her too and really seem new to all of this.

  15. ITA ldyJ

I also loved the respect he was given by these guys...saying when it comes to vocals he got it made. I think Clay got a bit taken by surprised by that. I suspect people have seen his work ethic around the rehearsal halls and have seen the talent. The impression I have of Broadway...is that they respect talent most of all...who cares about the image or what box you are in.

He looked so happy ....I am so excited for him!!!

Gah ...I need to hear him with a British accent!!!
