  1. Scarlett - technical question - last year my grandson went and clicked on that virus warning thing and rendered his PC quite useless. His dad wiped it clean, and then we found out that wherever it was that his absentee mother got the computer from, there was no restore disc. Sooooo.....I got his dad (my son) a refurbished Dell from ebay, for Christmas, and my grandson's PC is a Dell - so we used the restore disc from the refurbished computer to restore my grandson's computer. Which now works fine. Except they are both whining and complaining that they NEED new PCI-E cards. Is there a problem with using the restore disc from one computer on another? Heeeeee......I suspect that those who declare that opinions about, say, Clay's beautimous visage are all subjective (yep!) and then get illogically bent out of shape when others have differing subjective opinions - those people really think that their opinions are definitive.
  2. Guess I just don't understand personal perspective that needs to express itself by being harsh and ugly. Or why opinions need to be expressed in such a nasty manner that it makes me recoil in distaste. Why isn't it fair to diss people other than Clay who are ugly, then? And IMO they are ugly inside too. Oh well, ugly posts can be skipped. Not like I would ever have any of the ugly-posters in my home or anywhere near my family. Even on their worst day, I would never dream of telling a friend or family member they look ugly or like a clown and that people laugh at them. That's subjective AND needlessly mean. Yes, different strokes for what is considered unattractive, of course - but the means of expression is sometimes uglier than any look. Ugh. I love that Clay was at the finale! I understand there are more pictures floating around, but the provenance is still iffy - hoping that gets cleared up! I never even considered re-upping at OFC this time, because I am not gonna PAY to read that crap from "fans". Fans of their own opinions and ability to spew with impunity, again IMO. I do wish they would stop using Orville Redenbacher in TV ads - don't they know he is dead?
  3. I hope not as long as fans are breathing down his neck - I honestly think there is a good reason that Jerome is there - Clay seems too frugal to keep a bodyguard for no good reason. Who knows what kinds of things go on in Clay's real life? Chris Seibert, in that article that was linked to a little while back, seemed to think having Jerome around was necessary for Clay, and he would know more about it than the public. That actually made me nervous! I do think going to the last night of Spam, knowing that there could possibly the stalkerish fans who assumed he would be there for the final show, qualifies for needing Jerome. I want to see the bowtie!!!!!!!! on Clay!!!!!!!!!!
  4. In Tom Colicchio's blog this morning, he says the new guy thought he was hired to be funny, but the new guy has had an attitude adjustment and will now be really paying attention to the food. I was not impressed that he was impressed with Daniel's food, and with the tapas.
  5. I think this all belongs in the reality TV thread - but - what is reality, when they edit so much?????? I think the right two people got canned last night. And regarding editing - before they "amazingly" cut to commercial before announcing who would pack up their knives, new British Anthony-Bourdain-wannabe judge said he thought Daniel was the most creative and had the most promise (um, no, no, wrong!) and he trashed the other two, so it looked like Carla was leaving. Bummer. Then yay! because I was tired of Melissa's whining and Daniel's obtuse bragging, and anyway, I like Carla.
  6. Bwahahahahahahahahaha! Looks at backside in mirror. Damn. Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Looks again...... Nope, still there. Ok, even if I can't laugh my ass off, I am enjoying your travails, um, travels, immensely! Roppongi does have a lot of little hotels, it is the embassy area of Tokyo. I worked in a little office there for a month. The Japanese secretary was a bit incensed over the cost of my hotel room at the Pacific Meridien, so one day she took me to see a less expensive place a few blocks from the office. Little tiny rooms that had little tiny windows and smelled like ashtrays. Only worse. At that time, the way a room got to be a no smoking room was that they would put the ashtray in the drawer in the night table. Nope. I clutched at my throat and starting wheezing and said I was highly allergic to cigarette smoke. A couple of days later she got even with me - I needed an analog line to connect to Tampa, and the office had just been switched to digital. So she smiled and said my job title said engineer, so how come I couldn't change one line back myself? Snap! I admitted that I was not really an engineer, so then she called the phone company. (OK, I have to admit that was a computer nerd joke, sorry!) KAndre, what did you order at Denny's?????
  7. KAndre - Bwahahahahaha! keep those recaps coming.......I have done the phone thing and the getting yen thing and the bus thing and the champagne on the plane - good times! - when I worked in Kawasaki, I took the Limousine Bus to the Pacific Meridien in Shinagawa precinct, then took a taxi to Kawasaki. Yes, the airport is a long way from Tokyo - during the day, you can see Disneyland, too! More!!!!! Please!!!!!!
  8. The holiday special was not special, it was the same one as last year. It was interesting to read the TwoP thread about it, though! They say Tom really really likes the girl who won. Also they think Padma is high most of the time. I don't think anyone is a standout this year, but Stepan is evidently The Villain! I am trying to like Leverage, because I love Timothy Hutton - he is the only celebrity to have appeared in my dreams, except for two Clay dreams, but they don't count because reality exists. :-O Anyway, the girl in that was so good in the British Couples comedy series that she takes me right out of the story, I can't think of her as someone other than goofy slutty Jane.
  9. Genuflects to Couchie. Looks nervously around for KAndre. I never thought much about guys with makeup before I saw Eddie Izzard. He's hot. Clay's hot. Guyliner is hot. All just IMO, of course! I guess this is an area where differing opinions = disagreement to some. Nah. What I like has nothing to do with what other people like, so all they have is differing opinions on how Clay looks to themselves. All y'all can speak with authority about is how Clay looks to YOU, not how Clay looks to ME. So "disagreement" is not even logical!!!!
  10. Did I somehow miss KAndre's "My Vacation in The Land of the Rising Sun - Commentary and Compendium"???? Becoss I am really really really looking forward to that!!!!!!
  11. Bwahahahaha! Also I bid a sad farewell to just ignoring unpleasant posts and thinking they will expire peacefully! FWIW, big lumpy muscles are not in the least bit attractive to me. :-) I always associate big lumpy muscles with not being all that bright, for some reason. My bad. Although I am sure that Ace is a really fine person! Maybe he can use a bit of career guidance himself!
  12. I love Big Bang Theory!!!!!! And I have gotten very enamored of NCIS, through reruns. Anyone who clicked on that Elton John video with Reed dancing (I did not like the song!) - it looks like Paulie Perrette (not a chance I got that right) - the kinda kookie girl on NCIS, was playing the drums. I think. Heeeee.....kookie reminded me of 77 Sunset Strip. I do like how I met your mother, new adventures of old christine, I love 30 Rock, but usually miss it because there is nothing else I watch on thursday night, and it is on at 9:30, an odd time for me. The new Jay Mohr show is kinda funny. Still lurve top chef and project runway. I loved the Eli Stone episodes I managed to catch - but was that on at the same time as Boston Legal? (Bows head in remembrance). New Burn Notices coming soon, and that Lie to Me show looks interesting. I miss all the mysteries that used to be on BBCA, miss Hotel Babylon, I do LOVE Dragon's Den - people with business ideas pitching their company to investors, trying to get startup money. Wire in the Blood seems gone, too. Funny, when BBCA advertised their take on Gormanghast, I was so excited, I absolutely loved those books!!!!!! - I was really kinda disappointed in what they did, don't know why. Sort of like how disappointing the Shining was.
  13. Maybe he just likes it? Like liney23 said, I don't think he cares all that much about stuff like that! I pretty much expect him to look different every time I see a picture of him - to me, it is part of his charm! Yep!!!! He looks hawt in makeup!!!!! Oh, people may beg to diffa.........but upset? Nah.
  14. If your computer is all in red and says you have to run a particular virus software - that IS the virus. I do have to laugh at all the emails I get, or popups, that ask if they can rummage through my PC for problems. Yikes! And word! to Miz Scarlett.
  15. Tribeca, have you thought of just giving your niece a link to the Clayboard? I understand it is PG-13. Sometimes the posts here get raunchy, too. The Clayboard might be more fun and less stressful for her! Long-range planning - it can be fun, but I hate it when people make his plans for him, and then he evidently doesn't get their memo, and goes off and does something else - and then of course he is making a BIG mistake. Which then is blamed on Jaymes or Clive or Faye or his management. I just like enjoying what happens!
  16. I am sorry the picture affected you negatively - it looks like both parties are laughing, though, it doesn't seem like the same sort of situation. Anyway, perhaps you can turn off the display function when you read this (or any) board with pictures, or else supervise what your niece reads. 12 is a bit young for unrestricted reading, I try and keep an eye on what my 13 YO grandson reads. Some of the pictures here squick me out - the Reed rooftop pic looks bizarre to me! - but I just don't dwell on them, is all. I don't think there is a minority or majority feeling here, just differing opinions. Thought Police conspiracies are entirely self-inflicted and imaginary - but everyone has a right to an opinion, just as everyone has a right to an opposing opinion. It seems the unhappy people are the ones who need to be agreed with. People leave this and any other fandom for many reasons - looks like your friend was more a fan of how she thinks Clay should behave in his private life than of his voice.
  17. That virus checker virus - my grandson ruined his pc, we had to wipe it and then used a restore disc from elsewhere to get it going again. Advice - never click ANYWHERE on popups if you can help it - right-click and close from the toolbar, or if that does not work, ctrl-alt-delete once and then go to running applications or processes and end the process there. or reboot. That flashing and insistent virus checker just needs you to click anywhere on it. Everything you see on a screen is programmable, that red X means nothing, it is the code behind it that counts. Accepted standard is X means to close, but it can mean anything. Heeeee......and there are people who call his mom a fame-whore if she shows up! I applaud her for seemingly not giving a rat's ass about the unpleasant fans - at least I hope that is her attitude. Anyway, my family is really dysfunctional and split over politics and religion and sexual orientation, and showing up at a function seems to imply tacit acceptance, not family solidarity, so we don't do a lot together. And I have read many stories about people being shunned by their families when they come out. I believe that Clay and his family have that unconditional love thing going for them - not all families are like that! Clay looks so happy and relaxed in those pictures!
  18. Clay's career, I believe. Thanks to all for the recaps - what a pleasure to read them! Spam has another week or two left to go - Martin Moran is going to reprise the Sir Robin role. I think he took over from Clay last spring, too. Hope they keep up the attendance!
  19. Happy New Year, y'all, too! And, until we get the much-anticipated KAndre trip report, here is how I used to go to work in Tokyo, I wrote it up for people who would come over so I could come home for a week and pay bills and get clean clothes and stuff.... Directions to/from Dai-Ichi Hotel Tokyo: From Hotel - Shimbashi subway station, buy 160 yen ticket or use your subway pass which you really should have bought the first time you went into a train station. Nitwit. Now you have to stand in line. (If you leave the nice underground tunnel to go to MacDonald’s to grab some breakfast, you will be SORRY, because if you miss the first couple of trains around 7 am, you will be caught in rush hour(s). You will only do that once. In addition, feel free to kick yourself or, better, someone you don’t like, because you should have bought all the freakishly cute McD toys and crap that they display for sale and don’t make you buy a stoopid Happy Meal to get – you could have cleaned up on ebay.) Helpful notes – just go with the flow of the crowd. Yes, there are a LOT of stairs and steps. If you are lucky enough to have an escalator, stay to the right if you are going to be a lazy sloth and just stand there and let the escalator do all the work. The left side of the escalator is used by people walking quite briskly, and they will poke you with their umbrella or jab you with their laptop and mutter stuff in Japanese that it is prolly best that you do not understand. And no, the escalators are not extra-wide to account for this. Elbows in. Haha! Wait until you get quite used to this, and then ride an escalator when you get back to the U.S.! You will want to jab those clods who stand idly on the left side, too! If you do, just mutter some Japanese-sounding stuff, and folks will back off. I am guessing. take Ginza Line (Gold circle) towards Asakusa Transfer at Nihombashi (3 stops) take Tozai Line (Blue circle) towards Nishifunabashi (back of train is best) Exit at Monzen-nakacho station (2 stops) Use exit A3 Right on Eitai St (The Dunkin’ Donuts is on your right, in case you want to grab a traditional Japanese breakfast, just like the natives!) 2 blocks turn right 3 blocks, bear left (cross street - Kasaibashi street) ((As if there is an English sign! Haha!)) 1 block, bear left 2 blocks, cross bridge over Ojima river, next right (It is not like there are other rivers to choose from, so don’t worry that there is no sign.) Building is on right, 3rd floor See? Easy-peasey! From Office - Left out front door 1 block, turn left cross bridge, 2 blocks, bear right 1 block, bear right (cross street - Kasaibashi street) 3 blocks, turn left on Eitai St 2 blocks to Monzen-nakacho station Buy ticket (160 yen), board Tozai Line towards Mitaka Transfer at Nihombashi (2 stops) Take Ginza line towards Shibuya Exit at Shimbashi station (3 stops) Notes on leaving at night – between 8 and 9 or 9:30, the trains will be full of businessmen who smell like breweries. They may come up to you and stand very close and inspect you, and they may try and talk to you. Be polite, they are just curious and usually very nice and harmless. If you get back earlier, you can buy sushi and gyoza half-price from food vendors in the train station, if they are packing up for the evening. Yes, those big shiny bulbous gray rocket-like things that look like squid stuffed with rice are squid stuffed with rice. Tokyo seems to be the safest place in the world.
  20. KAndre, I am enjoying your trip sooooo much! I wanna go back to Tokyo!!!!!! Have you encountered a tradition Japanese toilet yet? :-) I think the ones at the Meiji Shrine (same JRLine stop as Harajuku) are the old kind - unless they have modernised things.
  21. moviespoiler.com - be careful, it is addictive!
