  1. That was interesting, ldyj. The fandom has sure faced its share of trolls over the years, and sadly used to be too easily upset and defensive. I think we've (mostly) learned a lot. Clay has never seemed to be bothered at all! The fact that they exist is a little scary given politics lately. I don't understand people who enjoy hurting others - ugh!
  2. You might notice we had a bit of a change. Ldyjocelyn has created another new banner, and I think she outdid herself this time.
  3. And he's spending my money on lawyers!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Great distraction from coal ash. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  4. I just learned to take a screen shot on a cellphone, and then also learned how to get the screenshot and the other photos from my phone onto my computer without a cord or special software. Da dum!! I took my first selfies this year, all bad. Someday I will learn to post a photo from my phone. By then everyone else will have self driving electric cars. I've had Tracfone since I think it was 1999, and everywhere I have lived, it turns out that I cannot get a cell signal at home, and I'm at home most of the time. So I really don't need the phone. It's a feedback loop. But Tracfone now sell smart phones that work with wireless, and even lets you bring your own. So I bought a used Droid on ebay at Christmas. It can browse and use apps, which my previous phones could not. But I'm at home with my computer and an iPad, so eh. I don't text and people don't text me, and there goes that loop. When I do go out, I usually forget to take it. Loopeddy loop. I'm starting to text a little. But a friend was visiting from Santa Fe and he was worse than a circus with all the bells and whistles going off all day long from morning to night. How can anyone think?? And that's not even the weirdest thing about me. But sometimes I get in the mood to learn something new, and today it was screenshots and I'm seriously so proud of myself. It took all day. Turns out the power/volume trick works poorly on this type of phone, often resulting in turning the phone off, and it only works when the mute is on. I love that our new composition box has an undo button! I'm always rubbing the mouse wrong and accidentally erasing stuff.
  5. Oh Clay. I can see him doing all those things. Mighta should skipped this tweet. Guy still shouldn't have reacted with a baseball bat--that's extreme.
  6. He's having fun isn't he?! Merrieeee, I much appreciate your bringing all his commentary over. He's keeping you busy tonight.
  7. It's insane, merrieeee! I never thought it would actually win.
  8. I'm on a roll. This one isn't as good as the last two, but it might work if nothing better comes along: from Politicon tweet
  9. Truly.... truly in love with you.... I could get used to this but I think it's going to be awhile before he sings to me again. Live. We've got quite a nice collection of these by now; much appreciated by listeners at home. He whispered that "this is a rowdy bunch."
  10. I didn't have any plans but then my brother emailed last night around nine and now I'll be going to dinner tonight with him, his wife, his son, and his wife. I agreed to take a bunch of crap (like cleaning supplies) from my mother's house which has been sold. The good news there for those who may have seen my mom's house is that the buyer plans to completely renovate the house and has already done a nice job on the one next door. I went to see the house for the last time last weekend and it still looks like crap to me but it sold for mega bucks--location, location, location! Too bad I sold my part to my brother years ago, but he did put a lot of money into it himself on stuff like sealing the basement, central heating and AC, and propping it up from below. (Did you know they did that to old houses? They actually literally prop them up!!) I'm happy about this because it's a lovely old neighborhood near NC State that had been going down hill for years due to people (like my brother) renting the houses by the room to college students.
  11. Congratulations to your daughter. I know exactly how she feels!! How it is that we think we can stand up in front of a class all day and not be noticed I'm not sure - lol - but it's true.
  12. ldyj, thanks so much for the update!! The email address I had on that account is one I can no longer access, and I had to actually call them to push a button or two to change it as they normally require a code that's sent from the old address to make the change. I may have bought one or two tickets back in the day....
  13. I love it when my boyfriend calls me to sing to me. He even made my iPad vibrate.
  14. Ldyjocelyn, that is such a sweet article by Carmen. Merrieeee, good luck figuring all of this out. They may be calling Medicare your primary, but it's probably not the primary in terms of costs. I have Medicare Part A and B, which I pay the gov't for, and also an Advantage plan. I could have gotten either a Supplemental plan or an Advantage plan, and was advised I really should have the Supplemental because I could never be denied coverage in the future if I enrolled when first eligible. But it was much more expensive, and goes up every year. I also needed a prescription drug plan, which is part of my Advantage plan, but otherwise would have been yet another type of coverage I needed to get. The cost of Medicare A and B is very reasonable, and the rest can get quite expensive depending on the coverage you have, so your company will probably still be paying the bulk of your insurance costs if that's any consolation. As for why only those over 65, once you turn 65 you are eligible for Medicare -- that's the only reason. What that they are probably doing is paying for a Supplemental plan and drug coverage for you--it would be worth finding out exactly what they are doing now so that you will know when you do retire. I have a friend who just retired at 67, was covered at work til then and rejected Medicare, and has had all kinds of problems for months now making the switch.
  15. Wah I have company long time no see, not a Clay fan, and a plumber coming early early tomorrow to fix my "guest" bathroom toilet which died this afternoon, and won't be able to see the clips yet--thanks for the reports!
  16. Just listened to the "interview," i.e. Clay Aiken talking fast and non-stop saying interesting things. Wow, go Clay go! I love it!!
  17. I was pleased to see Don Lemon was genuinely interested and enlightened by Clay's words--as I said in my last post, he adds new insights to these tough questions that people all day long are trying to answer. As for CNN, If anything, Clay is helping them raise their game, IMO. I think CNN has been going down hill since Aaron Brown was fired (although I did have a few issues with him re: what looked to me like sexism). Have not been a fan of Anderson Cooper, but I do admire Don Lemon and Wolf Blitzer. Was glad to see John King back as well, talking election analysis.
  18. I think it looks good, merrieeee. Thanks for posting them! And ldyj, please take it easy. Neither of you "have" to do this, and everyone wants you to put your health first!!!
  19. He's so insightful. Doesn't repeat today's media "talking points' that those who listen will hear all day long. Offers original perspectives.
  20. Thanks!! PS I really enjoyed her playing--nice to see her get a bow.
  21. Here's another team that needs donations, same event: https://friendraising2.donorpro.com/campaigns/39/team/1220 This is my friend Barbara's son and daughter-in-law, on behalf of their daughter (Barbara's granddaughter) who has some developmental delays. I posted it once on my FB a few weeks ago and again earlier today, but no one has donated. I know it's all about Clay but it would be nice to encourage some of the other teams too.
