  1. Another great banner by ldyjocelyn. I have to say she's gotten damn good at this. This is satellite radio isn't it? It isn't? Oops.
  2. Loved the ending. I was feeling so sad throughout the last half and thought it was too late to make me feel anything but sad, but who expected Bill Maher?? Wow. And Clay looked so fabulous on that show. Love it!
  3. Oh my, he sure has been bringing the pretty. I can objectify him because I already know he's smart as a whip.
  4. OMG, their menu looks scrumptious. I can see how Clay would love it.
  5. Look at all the grey hair in that beard! He sure is easy to look at.
  6. Wowee - great title they picked, and looks like folks are raving!! Thanks for bringing all that over guys. Bwah ha ha:
  7. Thanks to ldyj for the gorgeous banner! I always loved those snow photos! I'm very bad because she sent the link two days ago and I'm just putting it up, but it's well worth the wait!!!! Ho ho ho everybody!!
  8. I'm recovering from tooth extractions and have a bit of a shortage - ditto. Hooray for you merrieeee!!!!! NYC at Christmas is a wonderland.
  9. Happy Thanksgiving FCA. So sorry to hear of your family's loss couchie. Was he your mother's brother? I'm enjoying a contented and thankful day at home. Dinner with brother et al on Saturday.
  10. A Not Just Us story - been a long time.... I had my hair done today by a woman who has been doing it anytime I have lived here since the 1980s. She told me that after I mentioned Clay running for Congress she decided to watch the debate. She admitted that despite what I had told her, she was prepared to laugh, and ended up extremely impressed with him instead. She said she liked his attitude of communicating between the parties, and not thinking of each other as "enemies"; she shared some of his more conservative viewpoints, though generally liberal and open-minded. She was impressed with his intelligence and his thoughtful, practical ideas. She's a great example of the kind of local voter that he wasn't able to reach enough of, even yet. No one pays attention, she said - if they'd bothered to have watched or learned anything... I told her about "WTF mountain." Like me, she's in the strip between the body and the tail of the mouse, so she couldn't have voted for him either. But said she would have if she could.
  11. I did miss you merrieeee! I'm very fond of the pictures in the last two posts. That's my Congressman, David Price. He's been in Congress since 1987 - lost one? election early on. He's been at several of Clay's fundraisers as one of the names up top in big letters and of course has endorsed Clay. Love Clay's expressions.
  12. You can say that again. I made the mistake of reading the board one last time before I went to sleep. Now I'm like, whaaaaaa The guy in the bus picture with Clay et al is James Tsai, a volunteer who works remotely from DC. He's a friend of Ellen Zeng's - she's Clay's campaign manager - and this is the third Congressional campaign he's worked with her. He's an integral part of the team. He's an absolute sweetheart and does this work because he feels it is a way that he can really make a difference. He loves doing it. While he was here he did a bunch of stuff the local volunteers do all the time, like going door to door with flyers and greeting people at the polling place, even did two phone banks of 50. He was here to do something to do with data that was way over my head, and to meet the people he's been working with because he can't be here for election night because of his RL job. I had answered a previous call for people with places for volunteers to stay, and very last minute I got an email and he stayed at my house Fri. and Sat. night. Arrived very late, up early, back late, up early...... I didn't see a whole lot of him, but he had a blast.
  13. Good grief! She's either given up or thinks she's got it in the bag.
  14. Another one: Thread title nom!!!!!!!!!
  15. Feh. I expect it to be a lot closer than that. All these tweets and pictures are telling a story that the "experts" aren't seeing. I don't know if other boards are giving background on the people and places. Among them are some expensive addresses and some very influential local folks. As well as a whole lot of regular folks whom he is touching personally. In the end, it's the 2nd district that is voting, and the Hagan-Tillis race is energizing people so I don't buy that the Republicans are more energized about this election, at least in NC. It's like after people fell asleep and let a bunch of crazies take over the Raleigh school board. The next vote they slammed those idiots to the wall. There will be Moral Monday protests all fall too. If Hagan's odds are that good, that in itself should rub off on Clay. Plus Clay "gets" North Carolina. It's a long way from now to Nov. I predict that somewhere along the line the media will start acting all surprised at how well he is doing. And luckily, Clay is smarter than me, and possibly even more conservative than I am. He's successfully bridging some of the huge differences that do exist here in NC. I could never get elected calling folks crazies and idiots. He just has to make enough typically conservative, Republican people feel like it's OK to vote for him in the sanctity of the voting booth--they don't even have to tell anyone they did vote for him.
  16. Clay is so smart, and so familiar with the worlds within which he is running. It's fun to watch! He'll accomplish a great deal by hanging out in the places he's hanging out in and becoming known as a local guy. Not to mention that he speaks so well, and have I mentioned how good he's looking these days?
  17. I know! I thought when he went there, he always knows how to find the favorite local place, and then boom, now it is gone. There was a place like that in Penn Yan that got destroyed in a flood this spring--just a frame and a lot of water, but they were able to rebuild with some money obtained through an on-line fundraiser, and a lot of local help cleaning up and doing the work. They were back open in a few months. They did have help from the local Mennonite community, who could probably build a house from scratch in a day if they had all the "parts" handy. I hope that will happen with this place, but the article gives me the impression that while the place is old, the owner is new?? Anyway, it's sad. Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!! I kind of overdid it and had to rest my hands, but they are making a comeback. It's just the kind of thing that takes a very long time and a lot of patience. No more novellas for awhile.
  18. Found this one while trying to find my way back to main: And another:
