  1. Yes, that voice is special. ansa, I am looking at your avatar and it's fascinating. In slow motion, you see the fluidity and expressiveness in this guy's hands and body. He would have responded well to some modern dance training. It almost looks like he's doing a qi gong movement- hee, I'll call it "dancing with dragon."
  2. Along with a great post, playbiller mentions video I tell you, the right video capturing that face in repose, the compelling presence, with "less is more" direction would kill.
  3. Boy, I really agree with your post ansa. I think Clay is very much a futurist even though he believes in "let go and let God". I think he does want to strike all anvils while they are hot . A talk/variety show could be the place where the world finally gets to hear and see the magic that is Clay as musician and performer. Sometimes I wonder how he perceives his own singing, too. The understated yet powerful performance of Lover All Alone is staggeringly beautiful. ATD has never done it for me. He does love those glory notes. I just think that some songs showcase the glory notes better. And he can produce some of the purest tones I have ever heard a man sing. I swoon over "gloo-meee" in Emmanuel. I know it's his choice and the circuitous path seems to be his- I wish I knew better his thinking about all this. It is interesting how people's careers unfold despite their amazing gifts. Jennifer Hudson. I think of author Olivia Goldsmith who couldn't get arrested by publishers. They told her that no one wanted to read about middle-aged housewives wreaking vengeance on their husbands- it was boring and uncool. Then her manuscript fell into the hands of screenwriters and the book sold gazillions after the blockbuster movie- the name of which I am now blanking on. Need breakfast. I feel like it's backwards with Clay, too. We are watching him learn and grow and "pay dues" and really get who he is , dancing with the dragon that is his talent . Some things just have to unfold or ripen in their own time. The novel that is Clay is eternally fascinating to me - like David Copperfield, with all the twists and turns, heroes and villains, and Clay's very own extremely complicated psyche.
  4. Hey, muski, keep shaking that moneymaker and show 'em what your momma gave ya! You are a very attractive lady! Carolina Shag dancing looks an awful lot like West Coast Swing in some ways. Penny had access to some incredible Benji videos pre-SYTYCD. Boy, that boy can shake a tailfeather! I missed the Alpha Beta discussion, skipped pages, because I was in rehearsal world for an upcoming little performance this week. I run a community arts/open mike night at the park I volunteer at. I encourage all talents, abilities and we get everything - it's called Cafe Cattail and it's a hoot. We get musicians , singers, dancers, poets, storytellers, of all ages . As MC, I really try to encourage everyone to express themselves. So many of us put a bushel on our light. Clay's banter inspired me, so I'm gonna banter a lot more this time since I'm a frustrated stand-up comic anyhow. My creative partner and I are going to demonstrate "contact improvisation" in dance- something we do together for fun to all kinds of music. We also like to improv on the pinnaner together. Wish you all could come. Re the aging parent discussions: there is a lot of support out there and great guidance for help and planning . The National Caregivers Association is one of them. Were any of you at the conference that Clay spoke at in Florida? I flew down for that one. I went through the whole years of dementia thing with my mom. Since she was in San Fran, my brother did most of the caregiving. She ended up in a very good home, but his constant visits made all the difference in the quality of care she got. Hugs to you all AND remember to wear your life like a light overcoat.
  5. Sorry , musk, I do know what it's like to lose a parent with dementia- and the long pre-grieving that occurs. The poor man is free now. You will make the best decision you need to make . Hugs. And feel free to call me!
  6. Dang I wished I lived in CA for the Kimmel show. Wouldn't it be fun if he walked out arm in arm with Tyra? I know I"m delusional, but i'd just love to see the jaws dropping. And what a lovely couple they'd make. One can dream (or write , like missy muski!) I was getting my glasses redone today and the gal looked surprised when I told her my age. From me , out pops, "Oh , well, that Clay Aiken keeps you young!" to which I got a verrrry knowing nod and smile. Heee! He's so contagious. Couch, I agree that Clay and Jacob's voices were the perfect blend. I'm sad that Jacob left because he made Clay sound even better. I guess he was too much trouble. I don't know what happened. I would love to hear Clay sing with Barbra or Celine. I know a lot of folks don't go for Celine, but I have always loved her voice. When she sang "Beauty and the Beast " with Peabo Bryson I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I love that Clay mentioned Peabo as one of his favorite singers. ONe of the greatest all time voices ever. I enjoy ATDW , especially the extras- IYDKMBN- (so soulful) and LAL just has me in tears. It's so painfully real. If Clay were to do another cover I would swoon for "How Can I Be Sure" by the Rascals. Patti Austin did a great version of it. It is one of the most challenging and beautiful pop songs ever to sing. On the View today, Kellie Pickler had me in tears. I believe that is who Rosie was referring to as "Kellie" . She sang a song she wrote about her mom who abandoned her. She lost her way mid song, briefly , because she was choking up. So were the View girls and so was I. I wish Clay knew her. She strikes me as a genuine and lovely person. Okay, I'll shut up with my disconnected ramblings tonight. Hugging you all.
  7. All excellent points, atinal and ones I have pondered myself! Hey, roseviolet at CH just created her own radio station with pop and soul classics, oldies, current and lots of Clay! She's got the link over there. It's great.
  8. Just dropping in to say howdy and playbiller, i've been howling at that White Rapper's Show. It's a scream and I actually learned some stuff. Persia is crazy, though. I think Clay likes to sing shmaltz, New Age, standards, lite rock and soul . I'd love to hear some more of that green-eyed soul.
  9. I'm watching AI Chat and Roseanne Tovares bugs me with her "Is it a mullet or a bowl cut?" comment about Clay after his interview. She's entitled to hate his hair, but I mean, there are hundreds of pop singers out there with the exact same cut (i.e. Jesse McCartney, James Blount, etc) . Does this make me a pod person for not liking her all that much? Too bad it was an old interview. Did like the added segment with him appreciating the fans for the UNICEF donation. They need to show some of KarenEh's or skrpkyms' gorgeous shots of him! I wish the world could see the fabulous clack by the fans. Wonder if Jennifer Hudson will get props this week on the show.
  10. Woohoo! for the Jennifer Hudson! And Eddie Murphy and Miss America Ferreira who I think is beeyooteefull Betty! All my faves last night. Clay had Jennifer picked from the start , remember? Hey , does anyone here get the sundance channel and watch "Iconoclasts"? Two very interesting famous people get together and chat about life. Last night was the best one ever with Dave Chappelle and Maya Angelou. It was a marvelous conversation and I sure hope they repeat it. Please watch. So much of what Dave says about fame really resonates with Clay stuff. And Maya is just an eternal inspiration to me. She had Dave in tears several times. She is the coolest.
  11. I was just watching "The Virgin Queen " on Masterpiece Theater and young, dastardly Lord Essex who is seducing Elizabeth has the same hair as Clay , but with tights. Yeah, you get the picture, that hair, stubble, a leather bodkin, a codpiece and some tights and that guy kissing the palm of your hand and tasting your fingers. I am not fanficcing- just reporting the scene from the show. I'm not obsessed or anything (/ except NOT) and could totally understand Bess' infatuation with the pretty young lord. Especially if he looked like the guy in the new CH banner. It's the KarenEh young Civil War general head shot. Clay could've been in "North and South". I just have a thing for costumes. Oyez! :medium-smiley-070: And check out Brandi's latest montage over there, too tired to figure out how to bring over. Hottest shots of Clay to baum-chicka-baum music. I recommend she do Part Two to the "Shaft" soundtrack. Sorta fitting and all. What a man, what a man , what a man , what a man, what a real fine man.....was that En Vogue or Salt 'n' Pepa? Off to bed - baum, chicka, baum chicka..... love to all.
  12. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day oh neighbor, would you be mine? Could you be mine? (Clay's next single off his forthcoming children's album /my delusion). I had to laugh when I read about relating things to Clay 'cos I just never do that.....except NOT! Examples: How about those Redskins? In my head: Is Clay's red? Global warming threatens world!! (and I am rather impassioned about this topic) IMH: Singer Aiken's hotness contributes! Tune in to Golden Globes Monday night! IMH: 'Nuff said! Back to bed because I don't feel so hot. Hope to get a walk and some birdwatching later on this spring-er-wintry day ! Hugs! Who are the Pod People other than the Bodysnatcher ones? Version with Jeff Goldblum scariest ever!
  13. Hi all, Divayenta , here. My real name is Karen- so you can tell I was born in the '50's right there! But as Tracy Turnblad in "Hairspray" would say, "I'm a clean teen" when it comes to Clay. I am also a couchtomato fan and I like the positivism yet realism here. I believe Clay is a bringer of light in many ways. Yes, he is gloriously imperfect (aren't we all?) but I think that boy's got some special mojo going for him. I love all kinds of music, love to sing, songwrite, dance, choreograph and teach kids about wetlands! And Clay is my most expensive hobby to date. I loved his latest tour and I think that whenever he gets around to it again, he is gonna kill, Ah mean, kee-yill us all with those songs, especially "If You don't Know Me by Now" and "Here You Come Again". I mean, how will we even make it through those songs?
  14. Howdy all....I just got off the phone with muski and i didn't realize that i'm already a member at this loverly place. I love the fresh air! And couch, you know I love you! Is it okay for me to just drop in and post like this? Is there hazing or initiation or something? I'll just pretend I have a little beanie on.
