  1. Has anyone here heard Guarini's "Stranger Things Have Happened "? He has mastered jazz singing on this. With an amazing combo. It's one of my favorite CD's to listen to.
  2. But he did a good job. (AJ, that is) Kid's got talent. And does anyone else think Sanjaya is a gorgeous young man?
  3. This guy should not attempt Marvin. Ouch!
  4. Someone said he looks like "Nosferatu" last week and I must agree. I wanted to put a wig on him! I didn't think he was so bad, vocally. No Clay, but hey, that's a given. My expecs are way lower this year. No mention of Jennifer winning the Oscar yet? The one who was "out of her league"?
  5. Ansa, hon, y'all chat in the Idol thread, keerect? And Muskatella, I fully expect a juicy kvetch session from you. I give great phone!
  6. Well, y'all have convinced me why Baby needed to have his toofs fixed. You are right. I never realized it before. He wants to look like a man. My only concern is the quality of work he received. I wonder if the newfie-toofs are the correct size for his mouth/face. And they look so "generic". Oh well, that's my kvetch. DH called today from somewhere in Iraq. I miss him so much it hurts. He's doing really well- doesn't get home until sunday night, though. Call me and chat! I promise I'll shut up about the teeth!! I've been unable to fall asleep lately, so I'm open to any "tricks" from the gang here. It's anxiety at the root of it. I did my Qi Gong today which really helped and talked to friends. How boring will Idol be tonite? Did anyone see the kid on the View today who Rosie plucked from YouTube who sang "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going". He was like a young Wayne Newton with soul. Very good voice, a little over the top interpretation- not like our Miss Jennifer Thang, who I loooooooooove. Do y'all remember Simon saying "you're out of your league " to her? HA HA
  7. Oh Couchella, I am so sorry for you and your sweet momma. What a burn. I hope you get to reschedule. You are all so hysterically daft over here, I think I love you! I've got that cold too and it sucks eggs. I'd rather suck toe socks. Hubby left a message saying he met with heads of state today. My hubbeleh. I'm so proud. The age discussions are a riot. I want to go on the Cookie Ethel Caravansary!! Say it loud and say it proud! I remember reading in Reader's Digest an elderly gal saying that "Clay Aiken would not be safe in a rest home!" I think he is just irresistible to all kinds of gals. I still have to get used to those teefs. I hope they won't change his face too much. I loved all the gummy goodness and the crooky tooth. (See Broads MP- hysterical) Hugs to you all, I must make some din- wait a minute- WAHOO TO MY GIRL JENNIFER HUDSON. YEEHA!!!!!!! Remember Simon's "you're out of your league"? HA HAAAAAAA. I wish Eddie could've won too. must to bed early to cure cold. :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  8. Awwww, thankyou so much for the hugs guys! :F_05BL17blowkiss: You are really the best. Well, I just talked to hubby from the Middle East. Me:"Where are you?" H: "I can't tell you" Stupid question , huh? Well, he's helping the Iraqis bring back the jobs as opposed to outsourcing. Bless him. And in other news, who here else got hit by the snow? It's been a blizzard morning in DC. ldyjocelyn, aren't you in the Midwest somewhere? I just watched the TV and my God. I will have to cancel everything tomorrow , including doctor. Safe travels to all. I've got lots of birdfeeders and a heated fishpond and the wildlife has come a 'runnin'. God, one snowstorm and I start sounding like Davy Crockett. Politically incorrect moment: I watched George Lopez on HBO last nite and laughed my sick ass off. Claygasm, I immediately saw "weenie warmers" or "snoods" instead of socks, too. I'm sick that way. Now, listen peeps, just imagine if Clay decided to go for the "rocker" demographic and went all Red Hot Chili Pepper on us. You know, where they jump around nude except for very long snoods on their dingalings? A girl can dream. I'll let muski fill in the rest. When I feel up to it, I will read her most recent chapters- I need all my concentrative powers. Play, I keep missing the last episode of "White Rapper". I've seen part of the "battles" in Detroit. Takes guts. The whole lingo fascinates me. Are you rooting for anyone? Meanwhile, I got all caught up in the interior designer contest marathon on Bravo. Muskalina, I saw the purple ink. I've been attacked by same personage. I claimed that the gorgeous Elle facial pics of Clay reminded me of Vermeer's "The Girl with the Pearl Earring." She went ballistic. What was I implying? she demanded. I was implying that his face , expression and skintone looked so achingly beautiful like that painting. And he does have a very Dutch kind of face in certain pictures, especially when the hair is red. Love you all. Gonna nap up for the Oscars. Gotta get better for my California trip/ I can't take antibiotics so these things take longer with me.
  9. Welcome dreamy! I gotta agree with you, I'm still mourning those perfect little teeth of his, too. Either it's pushed his upper lip forward , or he's jutting his lower jaw to match up with those too large uppers IMO. I know, I should just shuddup already, but the change is really evident in those two side by side photos Winky Dink showed at CH. It just looks generic now. Too perfect but not fitting. I wonder if he really hated his teeth that much. (thinks back to all that out of the side of his mouth talking he used to do). I'm just a tad gloomy tonite. My sweetie's on business in the Middle East and I've got laryngitis and a bad cold. I'm watching "American Idol Rewind" and every time someone sings (except Justin or Kelly) I just ache to hear Clay. I wonder if they have a rewind for season 2. Boy Simon sure didn't like Kelly much in the beginning. Can I get a group hug? :F_05BL17blowkiss: God, now I have to like Simon 'cuz he invented the Teletubbies who I love. Who knew?
  10. (/pets muski) I love kitties! Will adopt when I get back from my trip, it's been too long. I miss my "boys". Good one , playbiller! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  11. My faves: Sabrina Sloan?,, Jordin who reminds me of a young roberta Flack and is gorgeous and has "IT", Melinda, and the incredible, unforgettable Lakisha. the rest all shlump into one pot for me. go girls!
  12. Claygasm, I loved your observation of Alpha Guy repressing his natural competitiveness. He was holding off, holding off and then DING!...Oops , it just went off....he is beyond adorable. The more he learned about Cookie, it seemed to me, the more relaxed he became around her. Especially when she said she's considering auctioning off the "Claymobile" for BAF. What a great idea. Some of the worlds' greatest "helpers" are "eccentrics", over -the- toppers, and so forth. Not always the shy, little good girls. Like me. Except not. eta: hee,jmh- you should've seen me learning "stick" on the steep northern Californian hills. I had to double shift. Anyone remember that? Musk, couch? My older brother got religion trying to teach his little sister the shift. My best friend who was Catholic, got rope burns from her rosary beads when riding with me.
  13. It makes my blood boil as well...and it makes me shake my head in frustration. Claygasm, another great rant. :F_05BL17blowkiss: I hear ya honey. I've been on the receiving end of that "condescension" 'tude more than once. And so have others. Damn, I hate pompousness and superiority and "My opinion is more educated and valid than your little thought". Always hated that kind of thinking, always will. It's like a bad sorority or something. Hee. The only sororities at my rebellious school, UCSC, were goodies like "Felta Thigh", "Pigma Sty" and my favorite, "Delta Ki"! :rainbowsmile
  14. Couch, ansa, ldyjocelyn and all others weighing in on the "older fan" thing- WORD WORD WORD. Great quote couchie about giving away front row seats to teens and might I add PYT's. I knew the "outrage" was gonna happen over Cookie and the shit has sure hit the fan. How dare she call the show! Who does she think she is bringing attention to herself? Lighten up people. Oh, did I forget to mention that there was lots of expert "marketing" advice as well? Oh, the humanity. That sweet lady is happily married for 40 years and is having the time of her life. I don't think anyone has mentioned this but she kissed Clay's hand and said "And I don't care where that hand's been , honey!" BWAH! She also contributed lots of dough to BAF , and said her husband is the number one Claydawg! Yeah, he seemed a tad uncomfortable, didn't want to be grabbed or touched much. He seemed OK and sweet during the "quiz show" though. I thought it was hysterical how little she knew for an "obsessed" fan. I, too, am still getting used to the "toofs". I still think it changes the shape of that beautiful mouth. Oh, hell, I'll get used to it. That penguin walk concerns me because he's so hypermobile in the ankles and so he drags his entire foot to walk fast rather than rolling through the feet. Hope he gets a little training or physical therapy for that someday. He did very very well and I"m so glad that everyone at the show loved him. And I love New York When jojoct and I stopped at the security gate in West Point the guard told us that his wife was attending the Clay Aiken show. I asked him if he liked Clay, too. With a wonderful New Yawkuh accent he answered, " What's not to love? He's like a skinny teddy bayuh!" eta: Do you guys find it offensive and ghastly that Cookie said, "I don't care where that hand's been"? Yeah, maybe he didn't look so thrilled, but I believe the woman meant it as a true statement of support like "Fuck that Kelly Ripa!" I can't believe the hate she's getting. Okay, it wouldn't be me- but vive la difference. He did seem to recoil a tad when she said that. I don't think he understood the intention of her remark. The woman is so clearly devoted to him.
  15. Yes!! Yes!! K! I totally agree with the Apollonian/Dionysian model you describe. He is definitely an archetype of that order - and Jesus and Dionysus have lots in common in their stories. As an old Jungian I also see him as a positive animus figure , a friend to women as well. Those very qualities that draw us to him, are IMO the same ones that threaten others (certain media and internet types) based on their projections . I don't know if this makes sense. Someone the other day at the CH quoted Ayn Rand and I paraphrase cos I'm too tired to look it up but it was something about "decency offends others by implication". Can someone find that one? It was brilliant. Smooches :F_05BL17blowkiss: The part of your quote I bolded is so incredibly powerful and beautiful.
  16. Wow jmh, I'm in agreement with muski, here on your post. Brilliant. You have captured exactly my thoughts over the years about our Clay. I wish all of us could sit around in person and explore with faces and body language the nuances of this fascinating topic. I, too, believe that the sexual and the sacred walk side by side and if there ever was a personification of that , wow, it's Clay. I sometimes wonder if the man is a little bodhisattva walking among us! When he sings Emmanuel, Good News, All is Well, and yeah, even YWT, I allow the glory and the power of his voice and the gorgeous music to wash over me. And I'm with y'all on "The Blood"- it has popped on my shuffle deck at the "oddest " times- just when I needed the "essence" of that song. Clay has truly brought me many gifts with his being who he is. Kandre, I hope I didn't offend you with my comments. You sounded really angry , I'm sorry if I did. I was just giving some context as to why some people might have felt "off" initially during YWT. That song's words and philosophy are very different from anything else he has sung and they were to say in the least unexpected. Like jmh, I listen with interest now, and frankly, it's one of my favorite songs because the beauty and the intensity with which he sings it is not to be denied. Do I think Christians are evil? Of course not!! Many of us have our own unique relationships with the Christ- but that's not today's topic. I really hope I didn't offend you.
  17. Hi all. Living with paradox is what I do. I see all sides at times. Claygasm, I surely understand your feelings of exclusion with YWT. When I first heard it, I loved the music and his voice. I thought the presentation was OTT for a pop concert. I think singing your heart out about your spiritual beliefs without all the props IS much more moving. It happens all the time in country music. Think "Jesus Take The Wheel" which I love. Clay's presentationof YWT reminded me of that song by Neil Diamond "Dr. Love's Travelling Salvation Show"(?) but I FLOVE the melody and how he sings it. I swooned over the presentation and sound of "Good News"- my favorite song in that tour. I grew up culturally Jewish, but with zilch religion. My parents went to the Ethical Culture Society where we learned about ALL religions. And since my Dad was German we celebrated Christmas , tree and all (but non-religiously). I consider myself a highly spiritual person but I hate it too, when I sense something is being shoved down my throat. I think for those of us who grew up in the 50's and 60's who had to pray in public school who weren't conventionally religious it was alienating and we felt excluded somehow. Just years ago, when hubby was still in the Army, the chaplain was praying to Jesus at public events when there were folk of many religions present. That was just plain ignorant, but it pushes that button. Hee, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were the guest speakers of honor at my high school graduation in California. Dale:" And now for a non-denominational prayer, our Lord , Jesus in Heaven......" See, that's fine, but again many felt excluded. I really never figured out what Clay meant when he said in his book that he hopes all the good folks of different religions get to heaven (or something like that) but it's not HIS job to tell them that they won't. That was a big WTF for me. I know there are multiple interpretations of this statement. I'm over it now. I love him whatever he believes because I am comfortable in my beliefs and I realize he is who HE is. WORD to ansa's post about it's all good unless you're getting the "Take Christ as Savior or You'll Roast" message.
  18. "Hey la, hey la, my boyfriend's back!" Uh, someone had a good one with "Shorter Hair, Longer Teeth". So I"d layer it with , "Shorter Hair, Longer Teeth- You're a Tigerrrrr!" I know, pretty bad. How about, "Yes, the Candy Man Can!" My brain is fried tonite. I look forward to seeing cha cha , Cipher, Heart and some others in VA for lunch tomorrow.
  19. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHH! I didn't know the message board had a different url and that the board was down, so I missed the party with my homies! WAAAAAAAAAa! musk, as a verrrrrry visual person, I totally get the mourning of the chiclets. His mouth had a sweet litttle vulnerable, softness to it. Now the upper lift looks all stiff and puffed out. I'll get used to it, fear not, but , I loved the gums and teeth and the old shape of his mouth. when he smiles he reminds me of Liberace or someone, the patented "Hollywood" smile. No, I"m not saying he's gone "Hollywood". a friend of mine had the same thing done and the front teeth were too big. he had to have it changed. Again, I am not obsessing, okay I am, but to "visual" Clay obsessors, it really is jarring. I don't want him to have a patented smile. Okay, I'm done with that. Other than that , he was utterly adorable and funny and darling and and and. Jimmy seems utterly taken with him. Gabrielle sure didn't mind touching him. He was so gracious with the chocolate. Acting all eager to eat it and all. I'm loving all the positive comments at BWE. People getting "our" Clay for the first time. Kind of WTF over Rosie thinking Perez is such a great American. Does she fall into lockstep over gay issues? Is she overly naive about him? Or is it just "the biz"? I wonder if she saw all the awful stuff he's posted about Clay and other people? As Savonette said over at the CH, Rosie had all the time she wanted to come out after a successful show was over. Aren't others accorded the same courtesy? Anyway, glad to be back . Couch, I sent you a PM and email. Let's make March 24 a "gathering" for sure. I'd love to see Nelle, too. I'll be in Vegas, then LA to ring in Persian New Year with my sister IL's family and then Bay Area and then Carmel to cosy up with Clint! (Well he was welcoming me in to his ranch in the dream I had that predicted this all) Kandre, your take on things always crack me up. I understand someone tried to deny you admittance. Is that true? :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  20. Clay and JimJim will be in bed together. Or as play stated, the whole show will be in bed! Hee, I love it! Bring it on! Clay is ready to bust some more "stereotypes"- go , Baby!
  21. Smooches and hearts to FCA'ers at Kimmel and everyone who couldn't go! We're all 12 years old today- my boobs are perky and my ass is high! Sounds like "Summertime"- "where the boobs are perrrrrky, I'm still twellllve , and my ass is high....." Reminds me of that Moms Mabley story where she gave her friend advice as to how to shoot herself if it came to that. She told her to measure an inch below her left breast and fire. Pause....."Do you know that fool shot herself in the knee?" Loved Moms. So , I see tonite's skit as kickass to the tabs. Yep, I predict Clay and Jimmy will be in bed together, apres-ski, wearing beaters ( that would kill me) , a ciggie dangling from Clay's gorgeous lips and a beer can dangling from one long sinewy hand. I can't wait to see what those two will do. A Tyra walk on? :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  22. They're not feelin' me at the CH!! So glad you guys get my wackiness! Well, Snoopfountaindawg and WinktheDink got it! But you guys set me free, :F_05BL17blowkiss:

He's fillin' out And he's lookin' gangsta Man looks hot I'm not gonna angsta! Clap On! Clap Off! He's headin' for Jimmy And he looks pissed off! Who took that picture? Disturbed his peace? No wonder he's mad Man needs to release Headin' for a shower Get all cleaned up Spend the day with Tyra Yeah, we know wassup!!! Clap on! Clap off! Our freckled stud Is steppin' off! I must stop watching this show! He's gonna look hot, I'm not worried One Iota! :medium-smiley-070:
