  1. I loved Smokey back in the day but he looked like a cadaver on AI 6 years ago... I can't imagine.
  2. Hee. He's She's Cute! What big eyes he she has. Congrats.... edited for gender
  3. I may be alone in the fandom on this one but I don't have any non-professional recordings of Clay's on my ipod. Yes, I honestly prefer the album versions. So please don't flood me with a ton of recommendations. ---- couchie...we aren't facebook identical twin's anymore. Do I get a prize or something?
  4. Called it. As soon as they stepped on the mat. After so many years watching this show I can smell them coming a mile away.
  5. Field of dreams Glory Remember the Titans Independence Day Ice age Yeah... Not exactly the classics...
  6. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen! You know, for me, it isn't even about being "defensive" or "overly sensitive". It's about knowing the medium and always questioning. Heck, I don't just believe what I see on the nightly news or read in the paper either. I question it all. That is just who I am. If someone wants to believe this supposed BMG insider comment that's their business. But not everyone is going to jump on that bandwagon. And expect questions, especially if it starts being presented as some sort of factual information. Skeptical? Yep. I'll cop to that one.
  7. Well...sure. Non-compete clauses do exist if that's what your asking. I know that they are standard-operating-procedure for our local television news/radio personalities. In fact , anyone in any field who is good enough to be hired away by the competition may be asked to sign one. Falls under the heading of educated-guess... I still don't believe some random BMG employee is bouncing around the internet commenting on Clay articles.
  8. Yeah .... right .... works for BMG. Sure thingy. And just happen to hit all the key fan talking-points. Yeah. I'm jaded.
  9. Indiana State Fair...JBT "Some people would just be happy I spit on 'em" Hee. *waves to aikim*
  10. Hee. He looks just the way we left him. No major changes in hair color or style.
  11. We sell hardbacks for $1.00 and paperbacks for $.50. We do fine
  12. All in your interpretation, I guess.....to me, a brand new book which I've paid $20+ for going direct to the garbage bin is NOT a benefit to anyone. So, as I said, I simply will not be donating any more books to the library. Simple. Again, interpretation. If the majority of the books that got donated to the library where truly, as you say, "brand new" we may have a different policy. You have no idea the amount of stuff people try to donate. I've had six boxes of crap pulled directly out of grandma's attic that I was assured were all new and in good condition. I've had boxes of books donated that had mouse droppings and smelled of cat pee. We are a 12 branch system and we have volunteers who do nothing but go through donations. You just have to draw lines somewhere. We just don't have the staff resources to deal with everyone's surplus stuff. For the record, Goodwill doesn't exactly take just anything anymore either. If you were donating a brand new book the chances are it would not be going to recycling. It would either be added to our collection as a duplicate or go to our book sale. If it went to the booksale someone would buy it or it would be stored until the next sale. If someone buys it, the money goes to our Summer Reading program for the next generation of readers unencumbered by city funding restrictions. And who knows? That person may donate it back for the next booksale and we'd get to sell it again. We're lucky to have the space to keep salable books for the next sale. Nobody is trashing brand new books, but honestly, some books need to go to recycling. Not to mention that the paper recycling program we use is run by and for disabled adults. It's how they make a living.
  13. Same here. First time E has been around to watch with me. I'm really sad about the eliminated team. I liked them. They seemed very supportive of each other. I just about died when the cheerleader got Chekov on the first try, as she was yelling that she had no idea about such things. Actually I think no one was more surprised than she was. edited because } is not ] and quotes are not guotes....Oy.
  14. Many libraries (mine included) have very structured collection development policies. We do take donations but unless there is local interest (author or subject) or it is a current best-seller with a waiting list most donations go either to our book-sale or recycling. Neither of those options is bad. The book sale generates money for our summer reading programs and recycling keeps it out of the landfill. --- ldyj...I'm where your at. Clay said he wasn't quitting, so I'm cool.
  15. Well...I'd need waaaaay more information before I formed an opinion, one way or the other. Probably just me...
  16. I suppose there is a lot of truth in what you say, JaMar, but I believe that people can open their minds to information that doesn't fit their belief system. Rational people, with a desire to explore ideas, that is. It isn't that I don't think people can be reasonable and open-minded, I just don't think it is human nature to be so. Perhaps I'm just cynical.
  17. Well, I don't think you can discount the fact that people do tend to believe exactly what they want to believe. And they tend to take in information from sources that support their beliefs. It's why people with a conservative political bent get their news from Rush Limbaugh & Bill O'Reilly and not Keith Olberman. It's why college educated people can convince themselves that the Holocaust never happened. It's why I find discussing politics and religion with many people a waste of time. I think, for some fans, the idea of being "friends" with Clay outweighs other information. They would rather believe they are close to him than believe anything else ... so they do.
  18. And it does grow back. --- Hee. I never knew that shirt had stripes.
  19. He was on stage for the first half of the Council Bluffs show 11-18-05. Didn't appear after that.
  20. Doesn't everyone???? ---- The great thing about the Apple Store is they make it soooo easy to actually buy their products. What a concept!
