  1. Justclay2, I guess I am egocentric too because I do the same thing. Glad that I am not alone. Most of the songs I like are the ones that I can apply to myself. They "speak to me." I agree with your thoughts on LAA also. The way he sings most songs also touches me and my life.
  2. When I listen to TRM, I always apply all the lyrics to Clay and what has happened to him throughout his life. That is always heart wrenching, and it usually makes me cry. I do not hear it as saying "pity poor little me" at all. I just hear someone examining the way that one is living one's life whether by choice or by circumstance. How the person that other people see is not the real person inside but is whoever that person is allowing us to see, "living a charade, always on display." What a mess I've made of my existence." Those lyrics are applicable to most of us at some point or another. How many of us really know the "real me" of most people. We only know what they allow us to see. That song puts me in a pensive mood, and I can relate to it in many ways. I do get that only God sees the real me vibe in the song. It really makes me think. I am definitely a lyrics person. It is not one of my favorites on the CD, but I do like it, and will usually stop whatever I am doing to listen to it. There are a lot of songs on this CD that I dance to while doing stuff around the house, but not TRM or LAA (both too sad). I have read that this cd music is not danceable, and I disagree. I go dancing a lot and there is a waltz beat, a two step beat, and some whip (southwest swing in Calif.) music. Also a lot of the songs can be danced with a lot of hip movement. Admittedly not like Shakira's Hips Don't Lie, which I love, but that one is kind of frantic. I am talking about sexy, smooth hip action. I am Latina so I should know hip movement! Hee Hee I can definitely see some of these songs working real well on DWTS with the type of dancing they do on the show, especially SL. (Sexy)
  3. Hey Scarlett, I know just what you are talking about. Last weekend I had a lot of time and decided to venture to other boards. I was shocked to see fans talking about finally leaving the fandom and using words such as that this had become a circus, scandal after scandal, and that the current news was MichaelJacksonish. Some even said that for the past five years it had been a circus, and they could not handle it anymore. There was a lot of harsh language coming from longtime fans about something that has not even been confirmed by the people involved. I never knew that there were so many judgmental people in the Clay Nation. I do not see that there is anything that any of us can do. People have to deal in their own way. I definitely think we should just enjoy what we have here. It does bother me that Clay appears to be loosing longtime fans, but what can we do? The thought did occur to me that maybe Clay had not fulfilled their dreams of super stardom for him, and that they were using the latest new as an excuse to jump ship.
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COUCHIE! I hope that you had a wonderful day. Thank you so much for this great message board. I love FCA.
  5. FIEKY was not one of my favorites, but this discussion makes me want to go back and listen to it more. It just did not "grab" me like some of the other songs did. Gibby, Thanks for telling us where the bridge begins. That will help me alot. Also, for an ignoramous, can you explain what exactly is a bridge in music and what it is supposed to do in a song. If you have already explained this, sorry but I missed it. This is providing me with a really good opportunity to understand music. I love music and have a large and varied collection, but really know nothing except that for some reason, the music, lyrics and the artist "speak" to me. I can, however, most of the time, just hear a few notes of a song, especially one that is not current and instantly know what the song is. That is my only musical talent since I cannot carry a tune. That does not stop me from singing though! (when I am by myself.) I love to sing along with Clay when I get carried away.
  6. I am really enjoying this music conversation. Great that we have people who actually know music. Me, I am like Kandre, who just taught me how to hit a perfect G. Thanks Kandre. I know nothing about pitch or any of that stuff. The way I know if I like a song is if it makes me "feel" it. Clay's music touches my soul and my heart. and for Muskie (another place too.) His voice and what he does with it is what I love about his music. I love Barbra Streisand, and I think that she and Clay would sound wonderful together. Her duets with Barry Gibbs are so sexy. Their voices are so different. I love "I Am A Woman In Love." On second thought, maybe I am too old to handle her and Clay singing together. way too sexy for an old broad! Sacrificial Love has been playing in the jukebox in my head for days now. I love that song, even though it did get me trouble for not answering the doorbell because I was "so into it." and was blasting it all through my house.
  7. I don't understand the criteria they used for the ratings. Blake hasn't done that well, neither has Elliott or Kelly Pickler. Daughtry has done well, but has not done as well as Clay IMO. I do like Daughtry alot though. I do understand Jennifer Hudson. She did get an Oscar and stole the show in Dreamgirls. She has a pretty good role in Sex and The City and does a good job. I just read that the first CD she recorded was not released because it was mostly ballads, and they are going to release one which is hip hop. They are already proclaiming it to be a hit. Weird, they have not even heard it yet! I hate hip hop. I guess that is the way to make it in today's "music?" world. Anyway Clay should be rated much much higher IMO.
  8. Iseeme, I am not Scarlet, but will you take my hug? :thbighug-1: Hope your power comes back on soon. I was without power for two days during Rita, and the stuff in my freezer did not thaw because I did not open the door. The food in my refrigerator, we BBQ outdoors and shared. I hope that the food in your freezer stays frozen like mine did. You can also put food in a cooler and cover it with ice that you can buy at store. Good luck. I hope your ordeal is over soon.
  9. At this point, all I can say is that if Clay is the father, then I hope that Clay and Jaymes have been having a real man and woman relationship. I do not have any problem with the age difference. They are both adults, and attraction does not necessarily take into account age differences. Jaymes is an attractive woman. Since the news sources already have the pregnancy covered, and Jaymes is walking around with her baby bump in evidence, I am with the camp that does not understand why the Fosters or Jaymes do not just announce that Clay is the father. Why would that announcement interfere or be detrimental to her pregnancy? I really think that Clay would proudly stand besides her if that turns out to be the case. The only reason that I can think of why that is not happening is that Clay is not the father, and that is why they say nothing. If the rumors are incorrect, then why would the Fosters address them? It is not impossible that she got a donor, other than Clay because she wanted to have a baby. Then it is also possible that it is Clay's. Then IMO, it is a happy event because that is what Clay wants. Like Couchie, I WANT to know. Yes, it is none of my business, but so what? I still want to know!
  10. EIDN is my favorite too. The lyrics of a song and the emotional delivery is what gets me. This one has "everything I need" to love a song including the bluesy jazzy sound. I hope it gets released as a single. It is closer to what is played on radio today IMO. Merrieeee, "Get outa my bed, get outa my womb?" This could start a new rumor.
  11. Playbiller, I am glad that you were at the beach during the storm and also that you did not suffer the losses that other members of your community suffered. You were very lucky!
  12. dis111, You make a lot of good points. I agree with most of what you say because that is exactly the way I feel. I do not dislike Obama, and I do not dislike Oprah. I do however feel that it was when Oprah got into the Obama campaign that Obama's candidacy really took off. I cannot believe that the Oprah factor would cause some people to forget that Hillary has always been a champion of the middle and lower income Americans. What has Obama done in his two years as senator? His voting record in the senate reflects a large number of "present" votes when controversial issue are voted on. That to me indicates an unwillingness to take a stand on important matters. Hopefully he will appoint good advisers because he will be needing them. I did try to read the books on Oprah's Book Club and did not like most of them. After, her campaigning for Obama, I have lost a lot of respect for her. I used to consider her a very wise woman. I am going to vote in the General Election because not voting is actually voting. At this time I do not know which way, I will go. Selection of VP is going to be very important for me in both parties. McCain is already making speeches about his service to our country. No one can argue that he has not paid his dues. Can Obama counter that? It is going to be so easy for the Republicans to compare and contrast the two candidates. I live in a Republican area, and most of my friends are Republican. They voted and attended caucuses for Obama. They tried to convince me to vote for Obama. They will be voting Republican in November. I am afraid that we Democrats might have blown our chance to win the White House.
  13. Not really a fan of Teddy, but if one checks his record on the senate, he has been one of the most hard working senators in history putting in long hours when important issues are at stake. Once when I was in DC, we went into the senate chamber late at night, house had already convened, and a debate was going on about affirmative action. The mayor of San Diego was testifying against "quotas," and Teddy was debating him. There were only about four senators still there and Teddy was one of them. Being a liberal Democrat and desperately wanting Hillary to be the first woman president, I do not really know how I will vote if she is not the Democratic nominee. I do not know much about Obama except that he is handsome, intelligent and articulate. As far as his background in politics, there is not much there for me to make an intelligent decision. McCain on the other hand is very liberal. The Republicans viewed him as a "loose cannon" until voters made him the front runner. They know that the party cannot control him. His record reflects that he supports women's issues. I definitely do not like his stance on the war, but I wonder if that is just what he is saying to get the conservative vote? McCain with a Democratic Congress would definitely be interesting. He is the most liberal of the three front runners with Obama being second and Hillary being the most conservative. Of course the issue of what he would do with the economy and also his age and health remain. What if his VP had to take over? I would love McCain and Hillary on a ticket. Of course, that is a stretch and is not going to happen. I am still hoping that Hillary takes it all the way to the convention and someway convinces them that she is the one to beat McCain. The only thing that I really have against Obama is that he is raining on my parade! I have always voted Democrat with one exception when I voted for John Anderson, running as an independent, because he best represented my issues. I was a raving feminist at the time. It will be very hard for me to vote Republican. I just have to wait and see how everything plays out. Sometimes I feel that the Republicans made this mess, and they should be the ones to fix it, war included.
  14. The View is on right now. In the beginning segment Whoopee announced that the AP had breaking news that Hilary was going to concede to Obama tonight. They discussed it at length, each one giving their view. Barbara was there. Before the segment ended, Whoopee clarified that this breaking story said that Hilary would concede after tonights primary results if Obama had the necessary delegates. They went to commercial and in the next segment Whoopee announced that they had more breaking news. Hilary's people had just called the View and said that the AP story was not true and Hillary was not conceding tonight to which Barbara commented, "The AP story is not true?" This was the Associated Press breaking out this RUMOR that turned out to be untrue. How in the heck can we even believe TMZ? Scary that a lot of people do.
  15. It is now on the MSM Page with a good Clay photo stating that he is having a son. Of course the source that they quote is TMZ. Nothing about him performing at the Ford Gala, of course. I have not seen any mention of his incident with the TMZ scumbag on any of the entertainment news shows either. I wouldn't mind if more people could see that he is not going to take any more of that crap.
  16. I am so happy to see Clay in DC for the Annual Ford's Theater Gala. This makes it seem that alls in well in the Clay Nation. Clay is going on with his life and performing as scheduled. Really made me think, since I have been checking computer every fifteen minutes to see if there is any new "news," thus keeping me from what I was supposed to get done. How crazy is that? This weekend has been exhausting trying to keep up with all the discussions and speculations about the forthcoming baby event or not. It is possible that we have spent more time thinking about all the different scenarios than Clay and Jaymes have. I find it fascinating that some discussions are so passionate when we have no control over what Clay chooses to do or not to do. Hell, I can't even control what my grown kids choose to do. So even though, I admit, knowing full well that it is none of my business, that I still want to know from Clay's or Jayme's lips, I am really happy that Clay is in DC, and hopefully will be at the the Broadway Awards.
  17. Re: Muski's Retreat Idea Great idea and Santa Fe sounds good to me. Count me in. Any more takers? Just noticed that I have been promoted from dog walker to body guard. When did that happen?
  18. Like djs111, for some reason, I have always attracted younger men. That is not always a plus. Some years back when I was separated and in process of divorcing from hubby. He was having a major midlife crisis, I was out with my friends hoping to meet someone interesting. The young guys, way too young, would always attached themselves to me even though there were "girls" there that were their age. Once when I mentioned that, the guy answered, "point one out to me that compares to you, and I will go ask her to dance." My girlfriends roared with laughter because they knew that I was not about to do that. So I was stuck with him for the evening. I have been "dating" a man who is younger than me for the last 11 years. In the years previous to meeting him, all the guys that I attracted were a lot younger than me. One really young one tried to talk me into going out with him because he liked older women, and his last girlfriend was 40 years old. I was older than that. Needless to say, I was not comfortable with the big age difference at the time. Now had it been CLAY, it would have been a different story. I say good for Jaymes!!!! At this time all of this is speculation until either Jaymes or Clay confirms, but if Clay is the father, and he is going to be involved with the child, I am wondering what the child's last name will be, Foster or Aiken. Since Clay changed his last name to his mother's maiden name, it seems to me that last names are important to Clay. Is anybody else wondering about this or am I way ahead since we do not even know for sure?
  19. Didn't Clay say that he was going on Unicef trip after he finished album promotion? He also said that it was to an undisclosed location because of safety reasons. Remember fans being upset because he did not address confusion about Texas concert change, and he was in Afghanistan at the time. He could be out of the country. Have there been any Clay sightings in the US? I am also in the camp that believes that he doesn't need to address the issue, but I would like to know anyway. I strongly feel that he does not owe us anything but his music and good entertainment, but what can I say, I am nosy and hope that he wants to share.
  20. KF, From your son's mouth to God's ears on the movie offers. I sure hope that is happening. With Mike Nichols on Clay's side, that is certainly possible. I hope that we hear soon as to the truth about the baby. I actually am surprised that I will be disappointed if Clay is not the father. Regardless, I am hoping that all this publicity will help promote OMWH. As far as I am concerned, any fans that are ready to leave the fandom because of this should leave regardless of how this scenario plays out. Clay does not need those kind of fans. His personal life is his to live however he pleases.
  21. It is time to start thinking about baby gifts! Extra has confirmed it. It was their #1 rumor and declared true. Of course they had to mention artificial insemination.
  22. I agree with KF that Jaymes is the one to speak of it whenever she is ready. I do hope that she is ready soon so as to stop all the media speculation when she either confirms or denys. If true, I also feel that Clay should be standing next to her proud as a peacock. I see nothing wrong with the situation since the two of them have had a long standing relationship. I just do not understand why the method of impregnation is being reported. It is nobody's damn business except Jaymes and Clay's. Since the public thrives on this sort of publicity whether confirmed or not, this might even improve his sales. If true that baby will be beautiful and will probably come out singing.
  23. My favorite right now is EIDN. The one I care less for is Falling. Maybe it will grow on me also. Angsty songs are what I mostly hear on the radio on the rare occasion that I listen to radio. I mostly listen to CDs. IMO I think EIDN would do well on radio if given a chance. I like angsty songs. Most of them I can relate to. Guess that says a lot about me? I do love The Real Me. Usually it brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me of how certain parts of Clay's book made me feel, and I can relate it to what I know about what Clay has gone through.
  24. I would love to hear Clay sing with Christina Aguilera. Don't know about being the opening act though. If KD Lang can be opening act for Lyle Lovett , then opening act does not sound so bad. IMO Lyle should be opening act for KD. I have passed on the opportunity to see Lyle for free twice. I guess it would depend on what major artist would be the headliner. It would have to be someone really big. That would give Clay major exposure to a huge audience. With the price of concert tickets for these major artists I would think that most fans would be in their seats early to get their money's worth.
