  1. Wow, I didn't expect another Florida show to be announced this late.
  2. Woo hoo for those in that area! I am happy that I found something to wear to the gala today. 3 more work days to get through!
  3. Wow! Lisa L hardly looks like the same person.
  4. It really sucks that I can't make the dinner this time around, but I am just thankful to be able to make the gala! Maybe there will be some sort of a get together afterwards.... I read something on Twitter about Quiana not being a part of the Christmas tour this year. Does anyone know if that's for sure, and if so, how "we" know? I spent today going from farmer's market to grocery store to Costco superstore, accumulating all sorts of seasonal produce and, on the other end of the spectrum, all sorts of nasty frozen foods for Stuart to indulge in while I am in D.C. and at Skate Canada the next weekend.
  5. Hard to believe that Dee & Penn want to put themselves through that again. Unless Clay is brought in as an advisor (which I hope doesn't happen) I won't be watching again. I'm so over that show. I am, however, really looking forward to Gala next weekend! Eeeeeee! I missed last year and I still regret it.
  6. The email contains the details of the gala schedule. We have had to amend our travel plans for the gala, because my daughter was just told about a mid-term exam that she must write at 9 a.m. on the 19th. She tried to get it moved or at least get permission to write it early, but the prof wouldn't budge. So we are now not leaving until approx 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Our plan is to stop for the night about an hour and a half outside of D.C., and then drive the rest of the way in the light of day. We've heard some not-so-good things about D.C. traffic and don't want to take any chances, navigating unfamiliar roads in the dark.
  7. I want to get tunnelbear too because I love a lot of British shows (not to mention I apparently can also use the US streams that are blocked to Canadians). I just need to get my laptop working first.
  8. Wow, just saw this. Not that I live anywhere near Calgary, but cool to think he is winging his way to Canada today (according to tweets)!
  9. I have found honeycrisps at the farmer's market here for $2.49/lb. I usually only buy 2 or 3 at a time though, since they are so big! One is a meal unto itself. There is no other apple that compares, IMO.
  10. Hi preden, thanks for checking in! Looking forward to seeing so many people at gala this year, since I missed last year. Happy Birthday to ldyjocelyn!
  11. Oooh Fear, which ones? Good for you! I just did a quick trip to Toronto and back. My mom was having a garage sale to benefit her show choir, and I thought she might need the help. Turns out she did, so I'm glad I went. But I am exhausted! I think maybe a quiet night tonight, perhaps with a bit of clack? I rarely sit down and really watch it, as I mostly prefer just to listen, but after leaving my iPod on a random mix of Clay songs for the car trip, I am reminded of all the great live concert footage I haven't seen in a while. Yep, having tickets to 4 upcoming Clay events really gets me back in the spirit!
  12. The password for the Detroit radio presale right now is "JINGLE BELLS" but it brings up exactly the same seats as yesterday's presale password "HOLIDAY". There are still 2 in row D and 2 in row E available though! Those are pretty nice seats. I had one of those $0.99 cheap cases on my iPhone when it smashed. Never again, they don't protect the screen at all, at least mine didn't.
  13. Geez, I almost feel guilty for pulling up those pit seats yesterday in the midst of that horrendous presale experience. Almost. I recently upgraded to an iPhone4 from a Blackberry Curve. Both of them were hand-me-downs....I'd never pay the bucks for a new one. Within days of getting the iPhone from my son, I managed to drop it in the driveway and crack the screen. Then two days ago, I dropped it from the coffee table to the laminate floor and it literally smashed. I mean, you couldn't see through it. Luckily, I found a little place close to my work that was able to put a new screen on it for me quickly, and I purchased a knock-off "otter" case to protect it from further mishaps.
  14. ldyj, I think you are right. I saw elsewhere that someone lost pit seats due to a CC issue. I think I may have gained from their loss, or someone else's.
  15. Way to go shortyjill! What a horrible presale that was. Seriously, the worst in recent memory. It started throwing me mezzanine right at 10:00, and then double letters on the main floor after that (i.e. towards the back). I miraculously pulled up two in the orchestra pit after about 15 minutes, and then cindilu2 managed to get two in row D even later, so we are set. It's amazing to me what people throw back!
  16. I'm thrilled about the Detroit concert, and even more thrilled that it's the day before the Illinois concert so we can make a 2-fer out of them! Wheeeee! Now snow, you stay away, you hear??????
  17. Got my internet back yesterday, and today my son is going to pick up his puppy again. He has gone from 5 pounds to 15 pounds, so hopefully all will be well this time around.
  18. I'd say let's start a concert tour section. The Bethlehem date might be doable for us, but it's through the week so probably not. Still waiting to hear where the Michigan date might be! I bit the bullet and cancelled my landline recently. It's just not worth the $$ anymore as I rarely use it. The only people who ever call it are my mother and telemarketers. Bell Canada assured me it wouldn't mess up my internet connection. They told me I had to wait the requisite 30 days to cancel, but it's been over 2 months now so I called back on the weekend. They apologized for the oversight and said they'd cancel it right away. It still continued to ring until yesterday morning, then suddenly our internet went kaput and we had no dial tone. Ugh. I spent 45 minutes on the phone last night trying to get my internet service reconnected. Why is there no accountablility by the service provider, when they are the ones who messed up? I apparently have to wait 48 hours for them to create a new dummy line to connect my service to. Why wasn't this done initially? Argh, I was fuming last night. And I will be fuming even more if they take away my unlimited bandwidth. We will see what happens.....in the meantime, thank goodness for work internet and my 3G iPhone! ETA: Good luck with your ticket purchasing, Fear!
  19. We've had some hot, humid weather again this week. Yesterday I went to Toronto to the Canadian National Exhibition (our version of a state fair). The crowds were insane! We took the GO train in from Burlington, so we could avoid parking. My friend has a mobility issue, so we were able to get seats in the accessible car of the train, but by the time we got to the Exhibition stop, they were packed in like sardines. Trying to walk around the grounds was just as bad. We did nothing but eat in the food building, and watch a skating show (twice). Well, we saw a tiny bit of the air show en route from the food building to the skating show, LOL. But between the extreme crowds and the heat, it wasn't worth staying outside for long. The sun was killer.
  20. Back from my trip....pictures are up on Facebook if anyone is interested (just pm me). We had a blast! Crazy, 55 hour trip across 5 states and back but worth it! I also wrote a food-centric blog about it here. Glad to hear that there are some new concerts popping up! Funny, they are close to where I just visitied. Don't think I'll be making that drive in December though!
  21. Ok jmh123, you guilted me into posting about my boring life too. LOL. The puppy is actually for Ian, not Stuart. Ian has his own apartment. We already have 3 pugs and 2 cats here in my house, so last thing we'd need is a German shepherd! LOL. Anyways, the puppy is still with the breeder, who is trying to bring him up to a healthy weight. To her credit, she is doing a good job of it as apparently he has doubled his weight since he left us a few weeks ago. However, she is doing it with raw food and she now has to transition him back to kibble and have him continue to gain weight before Ian will take him home again. Of course, my concern is that this poor start in life has adversely affected the little guy and he will require more vet care than usual in the future. Also, I still don't think he will be fully insurable. But Ian's heart is set on him so hopefully he'll come home soon. I'm attaching a recent picture that was taken up at the breeder's. Later today, my daughter Lindsay and I are going to do something wild and crazy (those of you who know us personally, know this is not unusual LOL). She has to go back to college next week, so to end off the summer in which we didn't do anything but work, she wants to go on a whirlwind roadtrip. She has to be back at work by Friday at noon. So tonight, after work, we plan to drive as far as Cornwall ON, and then tomorrow wind our way through Vermont, New Hampshire and eventually end up in the Old Orchard Beach area of Maine for the night. Thursday, we will go back through MA and NY and eventually end up in Buffalo, where we may or may not stay the night depending on how tired we are. Crazy? You betcha! But she is a postcard hound, and likes to cross states off her list. I have never been to any of these states either (other than NY) so I'm game. Why not? What I wouldn't do for a fresh Maine lobster dinner...she also has plans to stop and take the tour at the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory in Waterbury VT.
  22. I do believe there are quite a few more dates to be announced...not sure why the OFC is dragging their feet on this when so many have already gone on sale, but I guess they want to wait until everything is ready and make one big announcement. He may well do one or more west coast shows, who knows? The two that I've bought tickets to are 6 and 8 hours away, in the dead of winter. There is NO ONE else I'd even consider making that kind of drive for than Clay. In fact, if I make it to one of the two I'll be happy. I figure the second is just insurance for bad weather.
  23. I got a pair in section 101 row C. If anyone remembers Lisa B (aka disneykid) she decided to come too, she got a pair in 102 row C for her and her hubby.
  24. I'm in for this new concert.....I figure that between the one in PA on the 8th and this on the 15th, both Saturdays, maybe one weekend will be driveable weather-wise!
