  1. Couchie, you beat me to the big 5-0 (barely)! Happy Birthday! :04: :fest09:
  2. OMG what a great performance! He totally killed that song (and I love that song)! I am really, really happy for him and impressed that he pulled it off without a crack. I wonder if his tweet was him being worried that he might not.
  3. Sounds like a lot of fun, ldyj! I drove through downtown Memphis once, when I visited Graceland on my honeymoon. We were stopped at a red light and some guy with a metal pipe was hitting cars with it, so we just kept on going and never got out! I'd love to see the sights like you are doing, one day.
  4. Probably because you're not the one sailing around, drinking tropical drinks and being waited on hand and foot. LOL. {{couchie}} hang in there!
  5. Isn't the $1000 ticket VIP? I thought they were going on sale today, too. But I'm waiting another full month for the "cheap" seats. LOL. Still cracks me up to hear them referred to as such. Woo hoo! My son, Ian, applied to our local Police Service last week, and he got called for an interview today! They are hiring 15 new officers for the September training class. It's his dream to get on the police force, so my fingers are crossed for him! Also, many of you know my daughter Lindsay aka crimsonice. She has one semester left in her college course (Travel & Tourism) but she was hired on this week to be a Tourism consultant for our city. She is ecstatic! Apparently, her knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language) was a real asset on her resume, according to the person who interviewed her. Every person with a disability has the right to be serviced in they way they prefer, so having an ASL trained staff member is great for our Tourism centre.
  6. Wow, makes my 5 km walk look pretty darned meager. So anyone here going for the big bucks gala tickets today?
  7. Just got back from my first ever 5 km walk (about 3 miles). It's 35 degrees Celsius out there right now with the humidex (about 95 F). The walk was to benefit Crohn's & Colitis research. My son Ian walked with me. It was a great cause, and one that is pretty important to our extended families, as it runs in my ex-husband's side. None of my kids have it, but one of their cousins does, and my ex has colitis and well as his brother, who has Crohn's. Thanks to all who responded to my Facebook/email and sent a donation. I really appreciate it. I was able to raise $475!
  8. Ha ha, I tried to like couchie's post because of her use of the word "adminny" but I got an error.
  9. My daughter and I will be driving in on the Friday. It's supposed to be about 10 hours, so if we leave early morning, we should be there by dinner!
  10. Yeah, mine too aikim. I don't know how much of a 'fight' it will be since for us folks buying 'cheap seats', we only start at row H anyways.
  11. Seems so weird to have a seating chart for gala. I remember the good old days when we had to email Aron about our tables.......
  12. Hee, I have no idea either ldyj. I was watching the broadcast of the Queen's diamond jubilee on CBC last night, with Sir Elton and Sir Paul.
  13. My twitter feed was all messed up yesterday....I was getting messages to my mobile phone hours after they were sent. Subsequently I was getting all of Clay's 20 question tweets in the middle of the night. Even though my mobile settlings clearly state that I don't want anything sent to my mobile phone between 11 pm and 7 am. Argh, I finally turned the damn thing off. Funny to read this morning though!
  14. Well the water ban has ended, thank goodness. It's supposed to thunderstorm today but we'll see if that materializes. Right now it's pretty cool out, but the forecasted high is 33 C (close to 100 F). The cluncheon I attended yesterday in Toronto was good! It was kind of cathartic, with everyone sharing their experience in watching CA and their disappointment in the outcome, but also sharing their pride in Clay and their hopes for a bright future. Almost everyone was planning to attend gala this year, which is pretty cool! We watched a variety of clack on the big screen that the restaurants always provides for us....Broadway Cares, JNaT, Spam, just not CA. I enjoyed talking to everyone and am glad I went.
  15. Ha ha ha ha ha.........my auto tweets turn off at 11 pm so I would have missed that one, thanks for bringing it over.
  16. No long weekend here, but yesterday was apparently the hottest May 25th ever in these parts. Thank goodness for A/C! And wouldn't you know it, we are under an outdoor water ban as well, because of a water main break. So I very sparingly watered my veggie seedlings from the dog's wading pool.
  17. I've had a few people at work say basically the same thing to me, that he did great. Most of them also say he deserved to win. I've been distancing myself from the anger and negativity that seems to permeate most boards and twitter posts this week. I don't need that in my life. So I've been doing a lot of reading (currently have the Hunger Games series on my e-reader) and gardening. LOL. TV is pretty non-existant at this time of year since all the shows have had their finales, or at least the ones I watch. I am already committed to attending a post-Celebrity Apprentice "cluncheon" in Toronto tomorrow, and I'm really hoping that it isn't all bitching and negativity. I'm as upset as the next fan at what happened, but I just don't want to dwell on it, you know? He did great.
  18. gbmifan, sounds like you had a similar experience to me.....we were having a rollicking good time until the last 2 minutes of the show and then all the air went out of the room. But I think Clay is fine, and I think if you missed seeing a sparkle in his eyes, he's probably really tired and was really ready to just go home. I think he will probably retreat to the man-cave for the summer, though....he's already said he's taking it off. I think he deserves it! But hopefully we'll hear about some tour dates and have the excitement of ticket sales, etc to look forward to. And of course gala! I reserved a hotel room today in DC. You walked 10 miles this morning? WOW! I am gearing up to a 5 km (3 mile) walk in a couple of weeks, in support of Crohn's & Colitis research. My son is coming with me.
  19. Wait.....they actually vaulted a version of Lean On Me with the Aresenio solo cut out? I just saw a reference to it elsewhere. Give me a freaking break!
  20. I made my donation Sunday night. Wish I could make another one but I really shouldn't have made the first one so there you have it. LOL. I hope those that have the means give, and give generously. I'd love to see him make that $251K. And so begins the work week (as yesterday was a statuatory holiday here). So far, I'm 1 for 1 with the co-workers who think Clay should have won.
  21. couchie, so happy to hear you are coming to the gala this year! I was concerned about the live auction too, but if you read it carefully, it's just the silent auction they've had to do away with. I love the live auction - it's usually my favourite part, at least until he sings LOL. I don't get the Arsenio hate. I don't see the point of it. They are obviously good friends, just like he is with Ruben, so even if I did harbour dislike for Arsenio, I wouldn't be tweeting about it. But I don't, I don't think he's the villain here. I love the Lean On Me clack and I watched it a number of times yesterday (and played it for any and all visitors that came through my door for my "Revolution Pizza party"). Hee. And it's because of the kind of toxic hate and negativity out there right now that I stepped away from the boards in the first place. Thank you FCA for still being my safe haven. <3
  22. That interview was what I needed, so thanks for bringing it over. My bitterness is turning into mere disappointment. I went out into my garden before 6 a.m. and took my frustrations out on it with a spade and a rake LOL. But I do think they best way we can all vote is (as usual) with our wallets. I made my donation to NIP last night before my head hit the pillow. I hope they bring in a lot of money with the "sympathy" vote as Clay said. Yes, Lean On Me was amazing! I will not watch the finale results ever again, but I would love to have the clack of just that clip separated out so I can revel in it. I hope Clay sleeps in and has a nice, relaxing day today. I too hope the fandom can contain it's bitterness and move on quickly. I did issue a few tweets last night to NBC and Apprentice to say they got it entirely wrong, but my only tweet to @clayaiken was not bitter. He did so well and I am so proud of him!
  23. I don't think Arsenio needed this title to get his talk show - he already has that in the bag with Magic Johnson being who he is. So yeah, I'm still bitter this morning. I think I'll feel better once Clay says something. I find it a bit concerning that he hasn't tweeted a word. Although I guess he did have a bit of a busy night.
