  1. the dancing talk isn't a criticism of Clay in the role of spamalot. I think everyone that has seen the show has been surprised and delighted at how well he's doing. But as someone who breaks all stereotypes because dancing doesn't come naturally I understand where KAndre is coming from. I love that Clay takes on a challenge. Play, weren't you the one that mentioned how Clay is totally concentrating during that dance number?
  2. Skybar...ding ding ding. I wanted to come online all day to say my 7 year old nephew reminds me of Clay LOL. He is extremely bright and easily bored and lord..thank god for the Montisori school..cuz I don't trust public school to deal with him and keep him constantly growing and learning. He always needs to be doing something. KAndre... I agree with you about Clay and the dancing. But I am so amazed and excited that he took this on and apparantly is succeeding quite well. Atinal...My mom watches that show of which you speak and good lord last night I was in the living room working on my laptop while the show was on and that little 2some singoff to see who would be eliminated was the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. Say what you want about Idol but they find actual talent. The banner is stunning!! Back to work!! Oh also wanted to say -- yep Jenna I also love humble Clay. Lord I know people who will tell you how much their phone costs or they just bought a new designer that or i make that amount of money or I'm so special before you've talked to them for 2 minutes. I have no time for those kind of people.
  3. I'm not bothered by what that guy said. It's an old quote anyway right? And whether it's true or not - it doesn't really matter at this point. I can so see Clay bored by the technical aspects of being a shrub. I saw on TWoP that people were making a big deal over the fact that he said he didn't know upstage from downstage..acted like he was lying to downplay his experience. Well IMO big parts in high school plays and a small part here or there in a regional production 10 years ago doesn't make him experienced. It's weird that that was the only focus to be found in that marvelous AP article. IMO Clay is not a name dropper anyway. Why would he walk around dropping Terrence Mann. Who is Terrance Mann. I know people would love Clay to talk more about his "experience" but really he doesn't have much experience in this arena. And I suddenly got a flash of Justin Guarini on Oprah dropping Q's name. It's just not attractive...on anybody.
  4. LOL...yep..And backhandedly complimentary..I really felt most NJU people would see it that way.
  5. I guess a round of "Kum Ba Ya" is right out, then. Darn it, I had my guitar tuned and everything. Monty Python humor? I'm sure there's a doctoral thesis out there on it. *g* And you know what? That's fine. Bwah! I would love to hear you sing kum ba ya. I was one that was worried that I wouldn't get it or like Spamalot. It's just not my thing. I don't like silly. I stop worrying about it becasue I do like Clay Aiken and he can pretty much make me like anything or give it a chance except Mandy. He has an amazing affect on me that way. I actually love strong opinions. I love that so many here have them...and so many with their own little style of expressing them. Well I got good news today..my little part time sit on my ass at home job will continuing. I figured I'd probably have 3 or 4 weeks to finish out this assignment but they have new topics to do. Yay me. Yay Spamalot.
  6. I agree with KAndre. I'm not going to apologize for anything I've said because I've meant every single word. I like the freedom of saying what I want. I know that there are people out there that go back and report directly to mods of other board moderators (like I give a damn or they are my mama or something) what is being said, usually misrepresented in some way. But I'm always willing to defend my position with anyone and I always challenge people to read a thread or two and not to judge anything by one post, or a bad day or the thing you hate. THis is a great community. But I do like to remind people now and then that FCA is open, there are no cubby holes and if that matters to you keep it in mind. This fandom has always been a ripe subject of interest for me and so I have no problem discussing it. Hell I see myself sometimes in the good and bad behaviour so it's not just some sort of condemnation nor do I go the good fan/bad fan route. We try to be somewhat civilized and hey I did veto a certain someone's thread suggestion (Clay Aiken is not your friend you stupid bitch). I should get points for that. Anyway I know I've heard often enough if you don't like the rules start your own board. HA!
  7. Just to clarifiy a few things... heh. The way we do things already is just fine. I think had the entire post been brought over it could have been discussed. Second - we don't care what members here post on other boards. I don't like to mod this board. I'm definitely not going to follow you somewhere else and tell you how you should or shouldn't post. I think the "review" was worthy of discussion. That, or anyone's opinion of the review, wasn't my concern at all. I didn't see JJ's post before she deleted it but JJ, I was not calling you a troublemaker and your participation is welcome here. back to work. no new eyeliner pictures?
  8. sorry to interrupt the eyeliner talk..but I didn't think he stopped after a performance to put some on before running out to greet the fans. From all accounts Clay is coming to the line quickly..or maybe people would prefer that he treat the line like he did tours and take up to 2 hours to come. ADMIN NOTE: I am uncomfortable discussing a person's motivation when they really are not able to defend them self. If we are going to discuss other fans posts and behavior I rather the focus be on their opinion...or on how they acted rather than take them on personally. I really do believe everyone is entitled to their opinion without being accused of bias or having other agenda. sorry- I guess I got a little carried away with my Clay love. First of all a RED Admin note? I want people to understand where we are coming from so forgive this rambling post. I understand that what I'm about to say may be hair splitting at its finest but for those who are confused right now I want you to understand. Feel free to ask me any questions. When FCA started (shut up heee) we had a long list of rules cobbled together from other boards. After a year I revisted those rules and laughed because they were so not us. We had grown organically and come up with our own board culture. One of the rules we struck down was no board on board talk. Oh and I understand that in some corners we are treated with disdain because it is just considered crass. Well what I have discovered when grown women are allowed to discuss really anything they want it actually leads to meaning conversation. And even a good blowout allows the air to be cleared and not fester. So I don't really care if people at other boards get on their high horse about how we run our board. However, while we may go on and on about the fandom and experts and insiders most of the talk is in general terms. There have been exceptions. When Clay chose to stop his show to call out somebody - well no lid was going to be put on that name here. Hockeydonna, baby mama and that whole mess --people need to be forewarned about them. I'm not posting this to make a big deal out of it....it wasn't but please don't have a running conversation here about specific events on other boards especially if it's encouraging participation in said conversations. (are you more confused). And then also please steer away from the good fan/bad fan/motivation discussions (which has never been a theme here). And here's where the hair splitting comes in, if the recap had just been brought here we could have dicussed it or parts of it as we do any other recap. Or as Bookwhore did, just bring over a question for our discussion. Anyway, i hope no one person takes any of this personally but I just saw some confusion about what's the difference and wanted to clear it up. Now speaking as a member...and of said recap - I don't get what was so bad about it. It seemed clear to me that Monty Python was not in any way something she considered herself an expert and it was generally a positive opinion. FYI I read this at CH. And certainly not something that warrants a questioning of fan status. Merryclay I really have no idea what Carrie would have to do with her opinion on Spamalot. Secondly, when it comes to experts - ok I know I show a disdain for a lot of but in reality it's more that people follow them blindly without critically thinking for themselves that bothered me. (oh what, Clay is still with RCA? duh!) And I think we need to get to the day that they are treated like any other poster -not worse, not better -- because some of the info is interesting or good to know. Like Thankful said, It seems that was happening and that's a yay for the fandom not a black mark against any poster as they also have a right to their opinion. How we are going to handle real reviews. I read some blog this morning from some not a clay fan that went to the show. Said he was the best actor in the show - that he was fabulous...didn't know he was funny blah blah blah but had five words that mentioned effeminiate as in a description of Sir Robin of which she was familiar and said Clay was perfect for it. No judgement. I pray that little insignificant blog isn't overrun by well meaning Clay fans trying to explain or "defend".
  9. oh you're a cruel mom...the joy of being a sports fan is reveling in the aftermath..especially when the sportscasters have to eat crow.
  10. ok my sister keeps playing the sawyer bad to the bone commercial over and over and over. LOL. I think she likes him.
  11. Ok I'll explain. It feels like you're plotting something right here on main and it's not what we do. My BIL was not impressed with halftime..said this is the superbowl not a 70s reunion. heee I don't mind even thought it's not my thang..I like that they spread the wealth around to different types of music.
  12. It sure explains why he frequently sings like his nuts have been crushed.... snicker
  13. I just caught the tail-end of Jordin's performance, but I thought she sounded good (I wasn't watching close enough to notice the lip-synching thing), and I thought she looked lovely. Good for her! I can't say that Jordin has been on my radar much since the end of her season, but she did win and she deserves the perks and opportunities that come with that. yep. And all I could think was what a cute girl and she isn't inorexic. My bil is still drooling. But my sister said on the radio they said..well we know she's not on some sort of diet. What the hell is wrong with her size that it warrants catty mentions.
  14. but at least it's kinda fitting as her father was a football player. That was the first time I heard her sing..I thought she was great.
  15. Whew! Fortunately, I'm wearing a bedazzled baseball cap with my halter-top sequined jumpsuit to work tomorrow instead of a top hat. I wouldn't want to dress in a manner that would be age-inappropriate or out-of-fashion. RAWK ON DUDES! :headbangerf:
  16. bwah..yep I filed electronically and keep checking the bank. I can buy that plane ticket as soon as it comes. heee. weeeeeeeeeeeeee
