  1. I know you were only kidding. At least I HOPED you were only kidding. I am so in love with this song. I llistened to it almost the whole way from LA to Philly coming home from Kimmel (with a few shots of IYDKMBN and BW thrown in...). I AM a lyrics person. Great lyrics win me over every time. One of my all time favorite songs is short on melody but has the most amazing lyrics (George Harrison's "Within You, Without You", side 2, song 1 on Sgt. Pepper...). The first time I heard LAA, about 12:30am on September 19th, I teared up. I don't do that. The lyrics are so raw. They are like we are being given a peek into Clay's heart and soul. He stripped himself bare on this one (Down, Muski! I'm being serious!). And I soooo identify with the lyrics - painfully so. Only he has a glimmer of hope in his words, as he should at 27. My glimmer went out years ago..... And the lyrics are so beautifully written (the guy who wrote the lyrics for ATD could take a lesson from this!). They are almost like a narrative, like he's just expressing his inner most thoughts. Its like a very special gift from Clay's heart. Add to that the lovely, simple melody and the thankfully simple arrangement - and that cello - that beautiful mournful cello, matching Clay's voice and the meaning of the words. Just beautiful. Just beautiful.
  2. I would leave, but isn't LAA next??? I LOVE that one. But next week I'll do everyone a favor and just wait to party until we get to IYDKMBN and BW.........
  3. Oh goody...... "Through my eyes I see...." NO! I thought you saw through your size 13 feet!!!! Geez, who wrote this stuff! It sounds like a bad Hallmark card!!! Spinning balls, fighting angels.... What did the lyricist do, pick up a book called "1001 of the Greatest Cliches" and then use them all in one song???? Banal lyrics. Plodding melody, And those DAMN strings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, anyone who has known me since we heard this during the JBT (Muski....) KNOWS I have never liked this song, to say the least. I really, really don't like it. But guess what? Its NOT my least favorite song on the album! That honor goes to RHW and EID! I do like the way he's sung it live this year, though. And I like the bridge. Did I mention that all evidence to the contrary I really do love Clay??????
  4. Heh. Not at all. All viewpoints all welcome, even those who are only OK with certain songs. I love to rock out with Clay on this one. And I'd love to know the story on why this is dedicated to Kristy. Speculation, anyone? Well, as I said earlier (I guess no one is reading my posts anymore since I am a negative Nellie.... Poor, poor me.... ).... I think this was just Kristy's favorite song. The "dedication" reads "FOR Kirsty", not TO Kirsty. To me that means the song is for her because she loves it, not to her because he loves her. (Even though I kind of like the idea of his crying out her name in the throws of passion........ )
  5. No awwww from me on that Kristy crap! Not a shipper. And he did say in PEOPLE he hadn't found love yet AND you don't write a song like LAA if you're in love! I just think this was Kristy's fav song. As for me......... You know, I really, really do LOVE Clay. I do. I really, really do......... but..... I think he sounds bored on this song, sort of like he's just going through the motions. That said, he will KILL on this in concert. We saw an inkling of this at Kimmel. This is a patented Clay song - power ballad all the way.
  6. Popcorn and a nice Cabernet do NOT go well together....... Chocolate would have gone well, though.............
  7. I love the Spanish guitar. Its sounds so sad. I just wish Clay sounded as sad...... I think his voice is a tad on the high side on this. But its still a little gut wrenching to me because I can't help but think he's thinking of BOTH his fathers when he sings this....... This is one of the ones I like. Not love, but definitely like. I just wish he had a little more sadness and lowness in his voice.....
  8. I don't even know what protools is. The instrumentation at the very beginning makes me think of an aerobics class! I like the allegedly protooled part. Guess we'll know of whatever that is was used when he sings it in concert. That end part is r eally is the only thing I like on this song. (Am I going to get banned from next week's party if I keep saying negative things?????????) Ok. I like the part where he says he can feel her body move..... But I heard the original of this on the radio yesterday and I liked it better. I have heard the Hall and Oates version and I liked it better. When I heard he was going to do this one, I was hoping for some green-eyed soul. But instead we got, IMO, a rather bland poppy version. And he sounds like he's smiling through the whole song and its not a smiling kind of song. I am definitely not getting invited back........
  9. chocolate hell, cG! have another glass of wine and suck it up til we get to broken wings1 I don't think we get BW til next week! But we do have LAA tonight!
  10. I want chocolate......... Just saying.......
  11. I really am out of step with this fandom, aren't I?? Oh well, its good to have at least one preson to rock the boat, don't you think???
  12. Hi SilverAngel! And this IS fun! What a wonderful idea!!
  13. He sounds heartbroken on the second chorus. Absolutely. Once e starts that wailing I like the song, but its just the first couple of minutes. I sort of tune out during the first 2/3 of the song. And on his TV appearances, he didn't seem to know what to do at the end. It was very awkward. I did love how he ended it at the Kimmel mini-concert with his little glory note contest with Angela! That was fun!
  14. Maybe I shouldn't have come to the party tonight because. I really do not like this song either. Can we say BORING???????? I also don't feel any emotion in the verses. He just sounds so disinterested I have to wonder why he's so upset the chick left!
  15. I can see major audience swaying to this in concert! I think with such a cover heavy album they had to send (and I use that term loosely!) a cover to radio, but I wish this was what he sang when he didn't sing WY instead of that damn spinning ball song! Oh I can't wait til we get hear that one!
  16. Talk about a bad Clay fan. It took me a long time to warm up to this song - despite Clay having a quarter of the writing credit on it. I found it a bit boring and monotonous (Ok, we REALLY need spel check here!). The second verse was better than the first and the baby growl was nice. I like the bridge quite a bit. And I love it when he starts singing with himself! It took me awhile, but I rather like this song now. Nowhere near my fav, but I do like it. I'm listening with headphones now. I love Clay being right in my head! PS - His voce sounds so much better on this than on RHW. Soooooooooooooo much better - richer.
  17. bwah!! BAD CLAY FAN!! **CG slinks away. Then decides to just take another swig of her wine and listen to LNM*** Ah, that's better!
  18. Maybe he had a cold when he recorded it!
  19. Gee, I'm glad I was a little late and now don't have time to repeat that song!
  20. Don't like this song. His voice sounds all nasally. Its a very plodding arrangement. I get no "feeling" from him on it. I don't think I have listened to it since I flew to CA to see Muski and Kimmel. I just find it a very boring arrangement and his voice is less than stellar. Combine that with not liking the original and that's why its my least favorite song on the album.
  21. Go to controls and then click on repeat one. I am being a good player and actually listening to RHW. :glare:
  22. See, now if she did this you would have the perfect excuse to ignore the family for a little bit! You could always go to your favorite coffee house with wireless access........
  23. And LAA gets like three hours, right? [ Maybe we should have a whole night devoted to LAA!
  24. Well pooh! I thought we could skip RHW and EID and subsitute IYDKMBN and LAA! Is it ok to come late to the party? I mean, I really don't like RHW. Do I HAVE to listen to it? **pouts* On my CD I put IYDKMBN and LAA right before BW. I like BW last because of the poem. Problem is, I tend to start at IYDKMBN and listen to only those last 3 songs on repeat! I just love those 3 so much its tough to move on. I am still working on my own version of ATDW but so far I have eliminated RHW and EID and IWKWLI and have substituted TRD, JY and ICMYLM, am thinking of adding IKHTRF, and then I added TOUCH. What - TOUCH is a love song! Although while working on my clack movie, I got rather fond of HYCA, which I used for my montage (a primitive montage by Clay Nation standards but what the hell - its my first one.....). Oooo! Speaking of my clack movie, I figured out how to get it to burn almost in its entirety. I just had to change a setting on iDVD. It was too close to 2 hours in its original form to burn, but I just changed one thing and voila! I now have to start working on Part 2! I am sure it pales in comparison to the artistry of someone like Spotlightlover, but its a start! I'm happy with it (although there are still a few things I would like to change but I haven't figured out quite how to do what I want all the time). Hmmm. I have to make sure I have wine for the Listening Party. What would a party here be without alcohol????:fest09: :trink3: :bier: :all_coholic:
  25. So the critics and haters would follow him and get hit en masse by a bus???? Christmas shows? I'm doing one-fer! I'll be at Red Bank - but I have to admit its only because a friend bought me the ticket for my birthday. But I will be at Red Bank with bells on. Well not literally with bells on. Although it is Christmas..... (contemplates the possibility of wearing bells. Rejects it because I don't want to be mistaken for one of the weird, er craz, er enthusiastic Clay fans....) And KAndre, I am honored to be one of your minions! I bow down to you! ETA: I want to echo this. This place is a breath of fresh air after reading some of the other boards! Plus, public drunkeness is not only tolerated here, it's encouraged! :trink3: Hee! I knew there was another reason I liked this place!!! :trink3: :704:
