  1. As a Clay fan posting on and reading a Clay fan board (or two) - and I guess this is non-PC in some places - I don't really care if someone doesn't like Clay any more. They are not relevant to me. Gasp. Over the years of reading that stuff, it just looks like they want company in their negativity or something, else why bother? Or they have a need to harsh a mellow. Nah. The only thing that pisses me off about Clay's bloggage is that AI is over and I am still reading about it.
  2. Bwah! Depends on who you are a fan of....and this stuff happens every.single.year. Things will settle down soon, I am sure.

The sports news is just like American Idol - the Magic didn't win, LeBron James lost! I feel bad for Dwight Howard - the Cavs are pretty clear they are going to hack-a-Dwight him - because Howard is shooting 59% on free throws, but that is better than the 99.99% he is shooting when he dunks. :-O That's from the Cav's coach....... Heeee....I was looking for Little Penny and Tyra commercials, here are some old NBA commercials - I didn't realise Spike Lee made the Little Penny stuff, and Chris Rock was Little Penny! NBA Commercials I have not seen the Kobe-James commercials, perhaps they are on hold here! The Magic have not gotten this far since 1995. Maybe I can sell all my Magic stuff on ebay, if they win! :-) That was a good game last night - too good, I like a nice commanding lead, those buzzer-beater things are hard to watch. Good luck to the Lakers tonight!!!!!!!!!!! even if the Magic go on to get beat there, I can see really interesting people in the crowd! I sat in a front row floor seat once, for the second half of a game. You can't really see the game as well as from the bottom rows of the second level - that's when you can see the officiating, for better or for worse - but damn, those players are very large and very sweaty and very fine!

Yup. Bullshit. Right there at the end of the 4th quarter, LeBron threw his shoulder into a Magic player, and the Magic caught the foul. And if I had a dollar for every time the announcers said LeBron James I wouldn't have to work for a couple of weeks. Anyway, we only have to win one more. I was quite resigned to losing, but now I am pissed off. Yayyyyyy!!!!!!!!! And I think a Magic-Lakers series would be quite good. Got to practice saying Turkoglu correctly. g'nite!

I read a couple of articles about the Magic-Cavs series today - the feeling is that the network and the NBA want a LeBron-Kobe finals, and people in Orlando are getting sick of the Lebron hype. A reporter asked Van Gundy about it, and he said he would never say the officiating is lop-sided because he would get fined $25,000 if he did. :-O
  6. Oh, I can't wait for the new HP! I think eclectic tastes is the way to go, too!
  7. Yup. That's the one. Even the preview is a tear-jerker. I am just not into that kind of movie. Well, I make an exception for the original Ghost and Mrs. Muir, but that's it! I do tear up all the time at movies, but at happy endings.
  8. I hope my reviews are taken as snark, they are not like the ones by professionals! I try and take my grandson, who is now 14, to a movie every Saturday morning; he gets to pick, and I go along with it almost always. I have seen movies I would never have considered going to! Gotta say that once I started thinking of the movies as a wildly inexpensive way to be entertained for a couple of hours - morning movies are $5 a ticket - I enjoy even the "bad" ones. We don't even buy popcorn or anything to drink any more, so the only other expense is driving to the theater. Plus it is three hours that we can spend together with about zero chance of getting into an argument. He lives with me, and raising a teenage boy is something I thought I would only have to do once. Thus my appreciation of the Fast and Furious movies, for instance, because they are just fun. Luckily, my grandson does not want to see any comedies that look blatantly dumb. The worst movie I have sat through was The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D, possibly because I do not like George Lopez and George was liberally sprinkled all through that movie. We enjoy the previews as much as the movies, too. About 80% of them get the "That looks good! Maybe we will see that!" accolade. Zero chance that I will see the Julia Childs movie with my grandson. I am really really looking forward to the next Ironman movie - aside from the Robert Downey Jr. factor, rumor has it that Gwyneth Paltrow does not like Scarlet Johansson, so it will be fun to watch for that. Weirdest thing I have seen Paltrow in - a series on a food network or something where she rides around Europe with Mario Battali, commenting on food. I don't know if she actually eats food, of course, she is pretty thin. But very odd couple. So anyway, take my reviews with a spoon of salt. Since I generally can post five times in a row here, I am never sure if anyone even reads them! Heeee......I told my grandson what would happen to the Bad Guy in A&D, and he was amazed at my brilliance!!!!!
  9. Ooops.....yes, Julia Child. There is a lot of violence in Angels and Demons, it just was disconnected somehow. I loved the book, too. Looking forward to the next book!

EEEEEE!!!!!!!!! I watched the end of the game in little glimpses - knowing full well that 18 seconds can last for 20 minutes. And a good-sized lead can vanish just like that! Must not get hopes up. Yeah, Penny tended to get injuries, he was sorta willowy and not gnarly. But moved like water when he was playing well. I do think there was tension between him and Shaq, though. I love Shaq now, but he had not learned to share when he was with the Magic. Injuries - other teams used to have "injure Shaq" as part of their game plan, Matt Geiger admitted he was intent on that, and he broke Shaq's thumb. Years ago the Heat played the Magic here in Tampa as an exhibition game, and my grandson was very disappointed that Shaq showed up at halftime, dressed in a business suit. They had used Shaq as a draw. I explained that Shaq had no intention of getting hurt in a pre-season game. Sniff. Paul Porter is still the Magic announcer. I recognised his voice, and checked - he is a big part of the game, for me.
  11. I hope Clay keeps talking AND singing! Without filters - he is funny and snarky and I generally agree with him. Well, I don't agree that there was some big message sent with the voting, I just think more people like to listen to Kris. Shrug. Also do not feel we would be having all this sturm und drang if Clay had said anyone else's one performance made his ears bleed. But, as in years gone by, this too shall pass. That's the thing about being a fan of someone who is polarising - like Clay fans, you have to expect that there is strong feeling on both sides of that polarising thing. I hope everyone has a great holiday today, and stops to think about the men and women who gave so much - no matter what the circumstances.
  12. I saw Terminator 4.7 - Lots of Machines, so you don't have to! It was all right. Christian Bale and Sam Worthington are very good-looking guys. Very very good-looking. Although Bale looks like Tom Cruise in close-ups, oddly, which for me is Not Good. The most exciting thing - Arnold still kicks butt right up until he gets immolated in flames, then covered in hot molten lava stuff, then blasted with freezy stuff, then somehow dismembered or something. I forget. There was a LOT of that. But I bet that was more fun for Arnold than his day job. Or maybe it was just like his day job! On the way out of the theater my grandson asked me if Arnold was going to be in the next Terminator, and I said well, he will be needing another job soon, I think, so yeah. I wanted to see Night at the Smithsonian, pout, maybe tomorrow. Except for The Bird Cage and America's Sweethearts, this is the only time I like that guy who was married to Helen Hunt for three minutes, years ago. Um, maybe I liked him in America's Sweethearts because of the John Cusack Makes Everything Beautiful (Except Jeremy Piven) Effect, because I liked Julia Roberts too. Anyway, the first Museum thing was silly and funny, looks like the second one is too. Previews - the Borat guy has a movie coming to a Theater Near You wherein he portrays a dim-witted gay man named Bruno who gets into various stupid predicaments because he is a dim-witted gay man. Think I will miss it. Entirely because it looks stupid. Robert Downey Jr. is gonna be Sherlock Holmes, that movie looks to be awesome. Because it has Robert Downey Jr. in it. And there you have it!
  13. Oh, cool!!!!!! Um, wait, you just mean news................
  14. Oh, I love Ted Allen, it is just funny how he gets all voice of doom. Thom Filicia was my favorite on Queer Eye, I really like his show Dress My Nest, he seems to be such a huggy and engaging sweetheart.
  15. Luckiest, yeah, a lot of competition shows, but I don't look at them because I care who wins, that rarely happens for me, but I love seeing the techniques and the recipes. And the host on Chopped is channeling Tyra, he sounds so portentous, it cracks me up. I am fascinated by the work it takes to make those fancy wedding cakes, people flinging around cake layers like they are made of rubber, when I have trouble taking one out of the pan without breaking it! I don't think anyone cares about who wins the Bobby Flay Throwdown, either, it is just fun. And I am still obsessed with having one of those 7 or 9 layer coconut cakes. Damn those looked and sounded good!
  16. Heeee......Lisa Garza was the next food network star finalist - and I loved her. She showed a lot of class in that trumped-up Las Vegas finale - having to be hoisted up into the air in a catsuit. The guy who won seems like a nice guy, but IMO they should have just stopped the show and gave it to him instead of continuing with the competition. Lisa has a quite successful restaurant and catering business in Dallas. I felt she was just an introvert, is all. She knows people don't like her, she posted this about that: Lisa Garza Reading the comments is EXACTLY like reading Clay-related comments. Interesting to read threads about this show on Twop and on the show's site, they track the success of the shows, they are pretty snarky and argumentative, just like us. Yeah, Chopping Block got cut, it was a pitiful imitation of Last Restaurant Standing. I thought the chef judge guy was kinda cute though. Love Guy Fieri. Love Bobby Flay Throwdown too. Don't like Paula Deen, but love her hair or wigs or whatever. I wonder how that tiny Italian chef stays so thin - she must only eat during the show, is all I can figure. I have not seen all the Chopped episodes yet. Just now saw the collard greens one - raw collard greens? Yikes. And the guy who lost in the last round was told flat out that his first two courses had problems too, but he left bad-mouthing the winner for only winning because he screwed up. I lurve Ace of Cakes and also that challenge where they all build cakes. And the build a better burger shows are awesome! And the burgers are medium rare! and look scrumptious! Saturday mornings I watch Sell This House. And the BBCA weird Scottish decorators. I miss Two Fat Ladies or Cooks or whatever, they were a hoot.

Well damn. But being a Clay fan, I can almost laugh at the headlines this morning... For a game where the Cavs had another big lead, and the Magic pulled up to them and there were seconds to go, and LeBron sank a buzzer-beater basket for the Cav's win - the headline is "Cavs stun Magic 96-95." I think the Cavs should be stunned that they lost the first game at home, and only won the second one in the last second, to a team that once again came from way behind. And the Cavs have that Super Star. Oh well, 1-1 is a lot better than 0-2. And now we will have home court advantage!!!!! I wonder if you can still get a free taco at Taco Bell if the Magic score more than 100 points. This would be much more fun with beer and nachos with extra cheese and jalapenos. Couchie, I can remember being at a Philadelphia Warriors/Boston Celtics game - Wilt vs Bill Russell - the Boston fans who came down to Philly for the game threw raw eggs on the floor and stopped the game, because they were losing. Oh wait, I can't be that old, maybe I saw it on TV! :-)
  18. Don't give it another thought. Some of us come from boards where we never posted unless we had something to say, because there were so many people online at once, it would have been pages of hugs or word! Some of us come from boards where we argued and refuted and discussed all the time. Clay's second blog is on the public page at OFC, I guess so the media can get it more easily. I can imagine him laughing as he wrote it. Some of the comments are so vile they really giving a window into some very nasty souls. As a boyfriend of mine used to say - "Are you going to eat with that nasty mouth?"
  19. I will be working tonight, with the occasional apprehensive peek at the basketball game, but I understand that Seacrest is hosting Larry King Live (are they sure about that?) tonight, guests are Adam and Kris. Maybe Clay can call in.
  20. Interesting that so much of the Idol reporting is split between Clay's blog and various articles about how Adam wuz robbed. I feel bad for Kris Allen. What I saw of Allison I really liked. I am hoping I hear more from her.

Oh, I am laughing, I just Googled Jeff Van Gundy to make sure it was the Knicks I was thinking of, and got reminded of the time he tried to break up a fight between Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning. Like a tiny terrier between two bulls. And he got knocked down and was hanging on to Alonzo's leg. Bwahahahaha! At least he was fearless! So, there is no one on the Magic team today that I am familiar with. But I still remember the fun of Shaq and Penny and Ho Grant. Horace has a twin brother that played for another team, their jerseys said Ho Grant and Ha Grant, it was funny. If you were there. Penny never did live up to the hype, but I liked him. When he was playing well, he was a pleasure to watch. I can still see his commercials with Little Penny - "That's Tyra Banks!!!!!" How old is Tyra anyway? She still looks eerily the same. My old Magic fandom attitudes came back, like, um, magic - Hey! We are happy just to get this far! It was an honor to lose to you!

Sooooooo, Ms. Couch, do you think my Magic will be facing your Lakers? Gotta admit that I am late to the party this year, but I am surprised Orlando has gotten this far. I still have all my tres chic Magic t-shirts, maybe I will put one on and look like a MagicMate! I wish the Magic would move to Tampa; I would love to start taking my grandson to games, but driving to downtown Orlando, from Tampa, at rush hour, sux. And I-4 turns into a parking lot at the least little bit of anything, like a dead rabbit or a flat tire. I do hope LeBron James' crampy leg is all better. The Magic are employing a sensible strategy - so what if LeBron can score 60 points? No one is gonna win a game 60 to something. Just stop the other guys from scoring. And it looks like he can actually hit his free throws, so the Shaq Massacre approach doesn't work. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out why coach Van Gundy looks so different than the Jeff Van Gundy I remember who coached the Nicks. It is his brother.
  23. That was exactly what I thought - he was surprised when people talked Adam up to him, because he thought the people around him knew what kind of music he likes. And yeah, I can see where he might think they were doing that just because he is gay. Were there questions to him at OFC asking how much he liked Kris? Or just about Adam.
  24. You know that would make a good song! "I love Paris in the springtime, I love Paris in the fall, I love Paris in the winter, when it drizzles, I love Paris in the summer, when it sizzles. I love Paris every moment, Every moment of the year, I love Paris, Why, oh why, do I love Paris, Because my love is near." Wow! You should copyright that! Quick!!!!! Heeee....isn't it romantic?
