  1. :04: for merrieeee getting tickets to GFI! Oh, and congrats on the citizenship test too! As for the early 2010 album release -- I'll do a cautious EEEEEEEEE on that. I'll wait until I see a press release from Decca and/or Clay. But it sounds really really cool to me too.
  2. I love this show, and really loved this episode. I agree fear -- you would think that after 15 seasons, people would know there would be challenges involving heights or water. I did NOT like the way Canaan almost forced Mika to go down that slide. I think my favorite team is the father/son duo. I also like the Globetrotters.

  4. Catching up here...thanks to MsMarm at the CH for compiling these... Posted on Twitter on October 14: AND AND Posted on Twitter on October 19: AND Explanation for the above twitter, from the CH: Posted on Twitter (as two messages) on October 22:
  5. Thread title poll is at the top of the page. Happy voting! Gee, this seems like something I was doing a few weeks ago...
  6. luckiest, thanks for the recap. I know you guys had a great, great time! canfly, I don't know if anyone answered your question about the naming of linear threads. Yeah, I think the CH is to blame for that. and to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how or why it happened. All I know is that I kind of like it -- when I go back over old threads, the titles suggest to me what was happening at the time. My new favorite picture:
  7. I think we can make the haiku work, somehow... A probable corny suggestion from me...
  8. We don't need no "seconds" around here... And the title suggestion thread is here! It's in the same section with our main thread...

  10. "Inner cool." LOVE that. Speaking of which...here's the "inner cool" dude...
  11. aikim, I googled your error message (which is usually quite helpful) and found this for you: See if that helps. As for your other question...no, I don't think the complainers really think it will change anything. IMO, it's just to hear themselves. I'm still learning to "tune them out," but that really is the best thing to do. If people stop arguing with them (or for that matter, commenting on them), I'm hoping that some will realize that they are talking in a vacuum. Meanwhile, I'm just going to enjoy what I have, and in this case, what I had -- a great weekend, supporting a good cause, talking with my friends, and enjoying Clay -- his heart, mind, voice, and humor. You know, we're starting to get close to the end of the thread (finally!). Do we have any suggestions for thread titles?
  12. Not positive if the older woman is her, but the photo is part of North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue's flickr photostream. ETA: maybe his visiting is due to this? North Carolina Bev Perdue Proudly Welcomes Enable America
  13. Well, you just answered a question I was going to ask -- if I want an mp3 of Moon River, whose should I get? I guess I now know!
  14. jamar, I don't know who exactly what doing that hyping, and I'm not sure that I really care. However, to me, some people took the word "b-a-n-d" and made that into "r-o-c-k o-u-t." I guess my years in high school jazz band made me realize early on that a piano, guitar, bass, and drum backing a vocalist is also the perfect setting for some nice, pretty music. No offense to those who loves Ashes, but for me, it's the one song on the album I almost always skip. Different strokes, though. Fear, great job with the beads! And thanks for setting that up!
  15. Thanks cha cha trusty, that was me! I wanted to add the total to the FCA Timeline.
  16. From the lovely Permaswooned, who I was so happy to see again this weekend: canfly, thanks for all the clack, shaky or not!
  17. Making this a new post, I hope -- if someone finds the total amount raised for the Project on Saturday night, could you please post it? Thanks!

  19. Happy birthday ClayIzzaQT! It was great meeting you this weekend... I got back fairly late last night, so I really haven't had a time to comment much on the stuff from the weekend, other than my "in the moment" ramblings Saturday night. But really, my feelings haven't changed all that much; I was thrilled to be there, I was thrilled to learn more about the Project, I was totally impressed by how smoothly the whole event ran, and I was in awe of a man named Clay Aiken. Yes, there were cracks here and there, but as KAndre (who, BTW, looked stunning) said, he's still better live than 90% of the pop/rock performers out there (IMO, anyway). As for his song choices? Maybe I was overcome with emotion over Moon River because that was one of my Mom's favorite songs -- but maybe I was overcome just because he sang the shiznit out of that song as well. My Eyes Adored You was never really a favorite for me, but again, he put some nuance in it that made me love it. Did I think it was perfect? Hell, no. But I personally don't love perfection. I think the flaws make him more human. And if I want perfection in a performance, I'll stay home and listen to the CDs. treenuts, thanks for the hug. I totally understand where you were coming from yesterday. It can be difficult to read opinions that don't quite mesh with your own, especially when they are stated rather strongly. However, if there is anything I've learned in 6 years of being in this fandom, is that there are always going to be differing opinions on performances, and there's not much I (or Clay for that matter) can do about them. What bothers me sometimes about "opinions" though is when they do actually turn into criticisms. Another thing I've learned is that being critical of Clay, IMO, just isn't all that much fun. I mean -- is he going to change the way he sings, or the songs he sings, just because I'm writing on a message board? God, I hope not. However, to me, I get the feeling that some believe he will. Blargh. I told someone over the weekend that this fandom's relationship with Clay continues to be like a marriage, to me. Lots of highs, lots of lows, and lots of "in the middle" as well. But the point I was trying to make is that I realized when I married my husband that I had to accept him, warts and all. There was no way I personally was going to change him. That doesn't mean he won't change over time, nor will I. The same thing with Clay. His core being will always be the same, even though there will be changes in him, and in my relationship with him as a fan. Acceptance is a good thing -- even when Clay throws curve balls that you least expect. treenuts, I said "balls" just for you. Heh. It was so great meeting everyone this weekend, especially at the breakfast yesterday. FromClaygary, you totally rock -- that place was fantastic! preden, I had a blast rooming with you, and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Sigh. Now I have to get ready for work, and also put my bathroom back together. Not to mention that I have to stay at work until 7:00 for the next two nights. I hate this "work late" crap! P.S. Anyone know why my avatar isn't moving? It's supposed to be! P.P.S. From the CH:
  20. I'm back at the hotel. I needed to get away from the madness at the Marriott to just absorb what I just saw and heard. My jaw is still dragging the floor from Moon River. His voice was made for that song. Yes, it's a ballad. Yes, it's cheesy. Man, I loved it. I need to hear that version about 5,000 more times. Grace of God was the obligatory "screw up" song, as he started to sing the first verse again as the second. The man cracks me up. My Eyes Adored You was incredibly nice. IMO he put some real emotion in it, and I loved the entire thing. couchie, As Long As We're Here was fantabulous. He rocked it out, and sang his ass off. Yes, he did say he was in the studio. Didn't say much more than that though. However, I still think his saying that he was going to be singing songs that he really loves to sing, and then singing Moon River and My Eyes Adored You tells me a whole lot about how he sees himself as an artist. Damn, I need a cigarette. And I don't smoke. The auction was incredibly fun. I would have loved to have bid on something, but everything was too rich for my blood. I did, however, win a copy of the Spamalot folio/sheet music and an autographed collage of some of his UNICEF pictures (created by Cotton). Time for some good dreams....
  21. Hey gang! I was one who overheard the sound check...and yes, I overheard As Long as We're Here. I know that music backwards, forwards, inside, out, so I'm sure of it. I was with laughn at the time. Looking forward to tonight!
  22. Greetings from Raleigh! I'm sitting here in a Middle Eastern restaurant with Jmh and lilyshine, enjoying each other's company and talking about Clay! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! My travels were uneventful...except for one thing. I flew from my home state to Atlanta, and then from Atlanta to Raleigh. So, I'm sitting on the plane, and who walks in, and seats himself way far away from me? Yup. Jerome. Frankly, I wasn't even sure it was him, because it's been almost a year since I'd seen him. But then, the three of us saw him at the airport, and it was confirmed. We were good people and didn't bother him. But I think we all internally "eeeeeeeeeeeee'd" at several points. Anyway....not sure what tomorrow during the day will bring, but tomorrow evening? Sigh. My dweemy boyfriend.
