  1. Minor crisis in household -- hubby not home, and no internet connection! Fortunately, hubby got my frantic cell phone call, and I'm now a happy camper. CH cellcert sounds pretty good, actually. muski, are you getting a post orgasmic phone call from CG after the show? jamar, I love your style. Keep us up on the game too. *g*
  2. EEEEEEEEEEEEEE stitchie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a fantastic time! :F_05BL17blowkiss: :F_05BL17blowkiss: :F_05BL17blowkiss: :TourExcite: :TourExcite: :TourExcite:

  4. Yeah...she's out of practice....I can tell....'cause she wanted to relive Frisco again on this date. I changed the location to Philly. *g* :medium-smiley-070:
  5. muski...thank you. I really do appreciate a good eyeboink. *g* There are days when he'll give looks like those in the montage, and I'll swoon and faint and think "OMG, where the hell did that come from?" (Today was one of them with that montage...) And then there are days when I'm just not in the mood for that, you know? Why, I can't tell you, wish I actually knew the answer. I just think there are days when I'm out of sync with so much of the fandom because I find Mr. Make-Me-Laugh sexier than anything, and I know that this isn't the case with a few people. JMO, YMMV, and all those combinations of letters.
  6. You know what? I must be kinda weird....I love PermaSwooned's original killer picture. The banner made from it? Not so much. Too much "up his nose to see his brain." But that's just me. IMO it needs balance, and that banner doesn't give it. (Can I hope that someone does a grinning Clay banner soon?) Oh, you mean like Scarlett being called out in the first row at Houston! Hee. It actually is. I'm incredibly glad that I was with friends *waves at Heidi, CG and muski* for my first show of this tour. But Tulsa was fun too, for a different reason -- the one mentioned here. I was surrounded by people who were not just us, and it was a hoot to watch them react to Clay (when I could tear my eyes off Clay myself. *g*). There were also two ladies directly across from me on the aisle that I think might have been more intense and possibly connected fans, but didn't know anything about the show. I could tell this because I could see their faces during several portions of the classics medley where they were simply cracking up. It was a lot of fun. That is one good thing about seeing early shows -- the schtick isn't routine to the diehards quite yet. It always frustrated me during the JBT with the 70's routine; toward the end of the tour, his joke about being born in the 70's was always lost because too many fans knew that what was he was leading towards and blew it before he got there. The introduction to the classics medley may turn out the same way. I hope not, though. And that was my one and only JNT2005 experience -- from a balcony fairly far away. Sure, I didn't get to see the pretty upclose and personal -- but I got the full idea of what Clay was trying to accomplish, and it was pretty cool IMO. I look back at the pictures of him from that tour as well, and just grin. He seems so young -- and that was only two years ago! I love Mr. Chameleon.
  7. My husband and I went to see it, along with two friends who have only seen the movies, not read the books. My review: I loved the casting of this movie. The lady playing Umbridge was perfect; Luna's casting was also fantastic. The acting by most of the actors is very very good, and I think Daniel Radcliff has improved greatly over the past few years. I also think that Emma is a good little actress too. I liked the movie as a whole, but I think they really started to cram a lot of stuff in at the end of the movie, and I also feel that they didn't explain a lot of stuff very well -- stuff that I think will have to be explained better in the next movie. The whole thing felt very rushed to me. I think my problem with books 5 and 6 (and hence, this movie) is that J.K. Rowling really didn't have contained stories any more -- those two books felt like build up for the final one. Books 1-4 all gave the mythology, but at the same time had stories that felt finished by the end. My friends who went to see the movie with us were just OK on the movie -- the one in particular said it was just a lot of Harry trying to figure out who he was and not much more than that. I do want to see it again, because I think I missed a lot, and there were a few things that I need to see if they mentioned during the movie or if a certain plot point was missed. I may wait until the DVD comes out though.
  8. Happy birthday and :F_05BL17blowkiss: to Carolina Clay!!!! I'm extremely jellus of all you who get to now start your Clay adventures. I miss Clay already. Everyone from here have a wonderful time (and very safe travels) in the next few days/weeks! lickiest1 wrote: Amen. I've been extremely lucky to have excellent seats several times, and was eternally grateful that I got great seats for both shows this tour. But at this point, I'm always just so thrilled to be in the same room with the man, breathing the same air, that if I'm in the 20th row, or in a balcony seat even, I'm good. Besides, it's really not like he's going to notice me or anything. I'm not the type to stand up in the middle of the concert and announce my intentions toward Clay while he's talking. *g*
  9. Well, I ate the extra ticket money when the Houston-Dallas show changed for me into the Houston-Tulsa show. Cost me more money, money that I really didn't have....but I did it anyway. I'm easy like that when it comes to Clay. Besides, I could do that because I knew those two shows were going to be my only ones. I don't know....there's always choices to be made, by all parties involved. TC chose to release the dates the way they did (don't have to like the way they did it, but I can't change them either). The fans choose to go to particular shows....sometimes way earlier than they really should. I mean, I learned my lesson this time. And I do think that waiting isn't always a bad thing anymore. If I would decide to attend another show later (don't look at me like that Ansa, I just CAN'T come to California...*g*), there are people who would be willing to put me up (or put up with me). I'd have tickets offered to me at the drop of a hat, probably. Anyway, it sounds like the NJ show will be doing OK anyway. I'm not sweating it. JMO. muski's telephone story reminded me of my office mate. I got back in last Tuesday to work, and she said to me "what happened with Clay? Was it a slow news day or what? And he was asleep, wasn't he?" She had the whole thing figured out in 30 seconds, and I keep hoping that people will be smart like her and see it in the way she did. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that's always the case.
  10. Well, someone must have been watching it, because according to IMDB, it was on TV for 6 years! Actually, that was one that I did know -- I never watched the show, but damn it if that isn't a catchy one, IMO. The two I didn't know at all were Growing Pains and Who's the Boss. The theme I think he should have added? I would have keeled over in laughter if he had added The X-Files for the orchestra. And again, I'd love to know who picked the songs. Clay? Jesse? A combination of the two of them (which is probably true)? Clayzor, thanks for posting your pictures. Sounds like you had a fairly cool vacation. {{{{{{{muski}}}}}}}}}} BWAH! Oh, sorry, I should have laughed, should I? 'Cause I know I'll get hit the next time you see me. WARNING: MAJOR HOTNESS AHEAD!!! Gurgle....
  11. The Syracuse Post-Standard Clay Aiken, of "Idol," to Perform with SSO
  12. For posterity's sake, since Clay issued a statement: Clay talks to ET about Airline Drama
  13. I love this band!!!! Hee. I do too. As a matter of fact, I think the show itself is pretty much set. Maybe Jesse will have worked on another arrangement or two, but I think for the most part that Clay likes the show as it is. And I've got to come in and support the TV medley. That thing is growing on me like crazy! IMO, the reason that a few people don't care for it is because they aren't familiar with the themes. Honestly, I was one of those as well. But darn it, Mr. Nick-at-Night (because you know that's the only way he could know these themes!) has made me really like these things. There's really some fantastic singing there, to me, and I'm thoroughly in love with gospel!Clay! during the Jefferson's theme. I now wake up in the morning and find myself singing some of these theme songs! Oh, I'm sure it is. But I've done some side-by-side comparisons of this concert hair and the Raleigh gala hair (shut.up.)....and to me, there's not a whole lot of difference! Just a little shorter for this tour. I would have liked to see that. Since I've been a fangirl since I was about 4, I'm fascinated by the process of fandom. If I had a chance, I'd love to write a Master's thesis on fandoms. I hear ya, and feel for you. I know I just can't do the CA 4-fer. And yet, I'm itching to soooooo badly. Unfortunately, the airfares are way too much for me still. I'm off for an all day meeting today. Have a great day y'all!
  14. bottlecap, are you getting away from your chicken fetish and becoming enamored with squirrels instead? Karen Eh?, thank you so much for your Frisco pictures. The B&W ones are especially droolworthy, IMO. My two favorites: I love this one....it looks like the concert was a religious experience for him too. I like the second one for two reasons -- first of all, Clay's laugh is so damn infectious. Gotta love that. Then....you also got Jesse in there. Slurp. There's a whole lot of pretty in that picture. Amen Sistern jamar! The internet has changed so much how we obtain and process information...and as someone who is in the information business, it's really caused a bunch of changes in my career as well. Your point about the old working models in journalism is spot on, in my opinion, as well as those HS kids wanting things RIGHT NOW. I personally think the internet has given so much good....but unfortunately, there's also so much BAD with it too. Or as you said.... We're here for you, you know... NO KIDDING! I need a new Clay fix, even if it is only via cellcerts at this point.
  15. keepingfaith, I love this line. I think you captured what I love about the man so much with those few little words. Thanks for the great recap!
  16. and :bday2: to jmh123! You are one of the "good ones" IMO. jamar, I'm "doing" Harry Potter tonight too. Heh. Off to watch some more Scarlett clack!
  17. The original versions (as compared to Clay's classics version, which I now like more than the originals. *g*) Baby Got Back -- Sir Mixalot Like a Virgin -- Madonna Bills, Bills, Bills -- Destiny's Child She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy -- Kenny Chesney Oops, I Did It Again -- Britney Spears OPP -- Naughty By Nature Yeah -- Usher Sexy Back -- Justin Timberlake Achy Breaky Heart -- Billy Ray Cyrus Opposites Attract -- Paula Abdul Beat It -- Michael Jackson Morning all!
  18. *tackles sheiladownunder and staples her to the board* EEEEEEEEEE! I'm so glad I got to meet you in Tulsa and spend time with you. I'm also very glad you're here! I know in my case I tend to be an early bird. That woman you saw in Tulsa was on pure adrenaline by that point. *g* But there are some night-owls around here too....
  19. Maddy, I'd give your recap an A++++++++++++++++! Thanks for sharing!
  20. Oh dear. I just downloaded the Houston Classics medley from jtgranny. That head that keeps bopping in and out of the picture? Dear God, that's me. I'm so sorry. I had a two clack gatherers directly behind me; one I knew, one I didn't. I feel like I should cut my legs off at the knees.
  21. Uh, yeah, I am. Can't help it. Sometimes it's a bear -- finding clothes that fit; and sitting in front of clack gatherers are two things that I can think of. OTOH, there have been more than a few times that I've been able to see over an entire crowd just to see a glimpse of Clay. Heh. It was great to meet you too Puddins -- and you as well Karen Eh?! Great recaps too! Oh Lord. Oh Lord. Oh Lord. Where's that drool bib? Love this. That's exactly the way I see him (I know not everyone does)....and I love it. Isn't he though? Those eyelashes are to DIE for. I wish I had them. But then I wish I had HIM. Love all the new designations! I'd sure like to executive produce something with Clay sometime, that's for damn sure. :F_05BL17blowkiss: to FCA...just because.
  22. :F_05BL17blowkiss: bottlecap! jamar, I think we'll run into that problem a LOT with that gif image. *g* Anybody up for some concert pretties? Most of these are from toni7babe, but he last is from alliesmom2. Very pretty.... And then he's so cute... Are you lookin' at ME? It's a ho-down! Guh...that neck... Lucky woman and lady....
  23. Tulsa on 7-7-07, or, who cares about a restored theater when there’s no damn air conditioning… As we last left our story, I had just gone to sleep after spending a grand old time talking to keepingfaith after the Houston concert. Get up the next morning – hey, it’s time to hit the road again. After scolding keepingfaith again and again that we were going to be late (and her sister was doing a good job of that as well), we hit the road at 8:00 a.m. I’m sure keepingfaithsis was tired of us talking and talking and talking about Clay, with only minimal stops (mmmmm…cherry limeade from Sonic!). Then, we pull into Tulsa. Elvira the evil GPS at this point was telling us all kinds of crazy directions to get to the hotel, so we finally shut her off. We arrive in the hotel lobby, not even sure if we’re going to find Clayzorback because she doesn’t have a cellphone. Lo and behold, there she is, proudly wearing her DCAT shirt. She’s chatting up a storm with the people who haven’t checked in to the hotel yet. Let’s just say that she was talking with a lot of people! This is also the point where I space out entirely and forget who atinal is, even though she lives fairly close to me and I’ve had lunch with her! My bad. We get up to the room and do the important stuff – plug in the laptop and get the wireless going. What? keepingfaith and her sister decided to get ready for the show before attending the party. Clayzorback, however was already at the party, so I followed her lead. I’m glad I did too, because I got a swag bag…not everyone did. *g* The ballroom for this party was amazing. There were huge posters around everywhere, and tons of stuff for auction/raffle. The DJ was playing Clay whenever he could and was mentioning his name every time all the time, in order to get screams. After a while, I found atinal sitting outside the ballroom by herself, so I came out to get some quiet and spend time with her. Then – time to get gussied up, and the pick up Clayzorback, keepingfaith and keepingfaithsis. It’s time to see CLAAAAAAY! We arrive at the theater…and it’s a freakin’ barn. Walk in…and it’s hotter than hell. From the advertising, I was expecting opulent; that’s the last word I’d call it at this point. But, I was in “who cares” mode, because CLAAAAAAAY was coming on stage! I take my 9th row seat and freak out once again when he walks out on stage. And then the flashbulbs started. It was such a change from the Houston show, where the audience was fairly well behaved. In Tulsa, it seemed that the management handed out flash cameras to every other seat and said “use these!” Followed immediately by the camera nazi’s coming out to say “NO!” The camera nazis were really trying to do their job, I’m sure….but they were busting EVERYONE, including those who were taking non-flash pictures. Grrrr. The audience continued their boorish behavior after the first two songs (which, BTW, were gorgeous as usual). I was about 5 seats away from “water bottle gal.” I was sorely tempted to rip that bottle out of her hand and beat her up with it. It really floored me that audience members were literally standing up IN THE MIDDLE OF CLAY TALKING to announce their intentions and get some attention. It was truly sad. By the end of the show, I was pulling out my librarian “SHHHH” (as well as a bunch of other people doing the same thing) so that Clay was noticing THAT too. He knew by then that there were several who were ready to do a butt kicking in that audience. EYGA was a treat. The song ended with Q&A holding that note, and Clay decided to kick in and then started melissma-ing up a storm. Q&A soon followed. I think that last note lasted at least 30 seconds. His banter? Well, he was full of piss and vinegar as far as I was concerned. I think “Clay’s very very bad day” gave him some fuel for the entire show. The plane incident was a running joke throughout the show. The man is simply hysterical – his timing is impeccable. In a way too, I think he gives the famewhore’s the chance to interrupt his show, knowing that it could either work really well (with some perfectly timed comebacks) or totally backfire. No matter – in this case, as frustrating as the famewhores were, Clay gave it back rather pointedly that night. It still amazes me that some of these people can’t figure out what exactly he’s doing. I think the vocal strong point of the show is ATD. Or EIH. Or MOAM. Or WY. Or…hell, he does so well with the entire show, I really can’t pick. The TV Medley is a lot of fun, and of course, watching the thrusting live during the classics medley was extremely memorable. Guh. Thankfully, during LAA, the audience kept quiet. Thank God for small miracles, as well as the power of Clay Aiken’s voice and emotion during that song. During intermission, I chatted up the two women next to me. They had seen Clay twice before – an IT show and the JNT2005. They asked all sorts of questions from me, and most of them were actually about the fandom. “How do you all know each other?” Ah yes, the power of the internet. Unfortunately, I neglected to ask them afterwards about what they thought of the show. I had behind me a sweet lady, probably in her late 70’s. I apologized to her before the show started, because I knew easily that she wouldn’t be able to see over me. She said it was OK, that’s why she had an aisle seat. She said she worked at one of the different theaters in Tulsa, and was curious about Clay. She brought her family with her – daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. SIL was sitting next to her, and I could hear him identifying all the TV show themes as they were sung. Also, I checked out his face at the end of the classics medley…and he had a huge grin. I really think Clay won this guy over that night. (BTW, this family cheered heartily when Clay talked about supporting the arts.) After the show, the sweet lady said to me, “I really enjoyed this show, and part of it was because I could see YOU enjoying the show that much.” I thanked her and told her that Clay brings so much joy in my life, it’s hard not to be happy! Soon (way too soon) it was time for BYLM. I noticed this time that he sings “the ones who saw me through it all.” Ones, not one. It touched me…and again, I started to cry. And then it was over. My thoughts on Clay remain the same – the man simply cannot be classified as a “singer.” He is an ENTERTAINER, pure and simple. He’s done a fantastic job putting on an entertaining show for both the die-hard fans and those who were simply curious about him because they knew him from AI. On the other hand, I also continue to get the sense that the man has no fear. He really seems to just not care about what people think of him, he just does what he wants. I love that about him, and admire it greatly. He’s also fantastically talented in reading his audience, IMO, adapting his banter for each venue. But WAIT, there’s MORE! After hearing that he had gone outside to greet the fans in Houston the night before, my roommates and I knew that we had to try in Tulsa. Sure enough, we head behind the theater, and there’s Jerome. It’s kinda hard not to find him, actually, as he stands at least head and shoulders above everyone else around him. It’s actually quite funny to hear him give orders…or actually, watch the fans react to him. It really was almost, “he says ‘jump,’ we say ‘how high?’” (This was so much better than my last bus line…the infamous Rockford NAT show.) Soon, we were in a huge line, everyone single file. Jerome even asks us to hold hands so that everyone has room. Somehow, Clayzor, keepingfaith, keepingfaithsis and I all ended up in different sections of the line. And then….we wait….we wait...and wait some more. Finally, Clay comes out, and starts at the opposite end of the line from me. That’s OK….because soon he comes zooming by me. “Hey, thanks for coming.” All I could say was “thank you.” He gave me a good handshake, but what I remember most is that as I let go of his hand, my fingers grazed his arm. Yes, I got fur. I think I will never forget that feeling. Afterwards, I meet up with my group, and also find the eHP. I thought merrieeee’s face was going to crack because she could not stop grinning. Honestly, neither could I. We floated back to the hotel and find the bar is crowded and noisy, and for me, just too much. So most of us went back to the room, checked the boards, watched clack, and drank these really good martinis. I had a great time talking with TigerPat from the Clayboard and sheiladownunder. I finally fell into bed about 2:30 a.m. Got up way too early, packed my stuff, said goodbye to my new friends, and took the hotel shuttle to the airport with spotlightlover and Nelle. The shuttle driver told us several stories about how nice Clay was (since he was in our hotel), and we talked a bit about “the incident.” Flying from Tulsa to Dallas was long, just because there was a delay for a lightning storm. Make it to my port of call – and there was Invisible2sum and her husband again, waiting for the flight home! What a fantastic weekend – one I’d like to do again so very soon. I met a lot of fantastic people, both old friends and new. And I got to touch Clay Aiken. *sigh*
  24. First of all, just wanted to see my new avatar in action. Yes, I'm down with OPP. Me too, merrieeee! fan2 (făn) n. An ardent devotee; an enthusiast. Short for FANATIC. Yeppers! I'm proud to be a fanatic, and I'll argue with anyone who gets in my way. BTW....keepingfaith, I love that your sister now seems to be one of "us" as well. Go sis! Yum....really yum. Butt (haha) I still think that's cheating. He has a great butt....when he's bending over. His butt when he's standing up, though...just not so much, IMO. Now, I do have to claim ignorence with the stories lickiest1 and cindilu was telling today....so maybe that would change my mind a bit. *g :::dies::: *mouths "thank you"* Great blog Caro. I simply love your style. YSRN, I've always loved that clip with him and the top 5 albums of the year. Such a selfdepricating man...and yet one who knows how to turn the situation on its ear. Oh, and I too watched the Chardonnay "best of the banter" clips this past weekend, in the hotel in Houston. That is one funny DVD! Finally, if anyone is interesting in reading a novel, here's my link to my Tulsa recap.
