  1. Tickets for Clay's show in Merrillville go on sale THIS SATURDAY, noon CDT. Prices are $45. Source is here. Sheesh. I thought I was done with ticket stress for a few months. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... :F_05BL17blowkiss: to luckiest1. She knows why.
  2. Woohoo for Caro! I'm so happy she's doing well. *waves to Aspiegirl* p2p is short for "peer to peer." If I'm remembering my network class from a LONG time ago correctly, it's basically "your computer is directly hooked to someone else's." For music sharing, it's basically opening up your own music files for someone else to "grab." Am I explaining this right, major techies? I've only done very little music downloading. My husband knows of that Russian site YSRN, and he speaks Russian so he uses that Russian language side instead of the English language side. For me, personally, I really think I need to PAY someone....maybe it's because I'm an amateur musician and would love to get paid for music. But if I do download, it's usually iTunes, even with the problems in formats. Can't you now pay a few cents more per song and get them in more universal formats? And even though I bought the new Macca album, I may have to download it to get the cool extras from iTunes. Why isn't it July yet?
  3. I totally agree with this...and yet, it makes me rather sad in some ways. I personally LIKE having my CD -- the complete artwork package (which totally gets lost when you just download a song or two), and the idea of an album as a "concept." Yes, I know how to purchase songs from iTunes and such as that, but I really do like the idea of buying a CD as well. The idea of marketing a particular song rather than an album, though -- I'm not sure if that's totally a new concept. To wit: a song hits huge on the radio before the album is even ready -- so they put out a quick album, and the rest of it is filler. This used to happen a LOT in the "olden days." It's just a different way to look at it, IMO. EEEE! I can't wait to see you there! South Bend and Waukegan are in late November, and Merrillville is the Saturday before Christmas. So he's got a month to work out the kinks. *g*
  4. couchie, I know you're jealous of those crazy insane wonderful people who get to see Clay in Texas and Tulsa (including me). However, in my case, those are my only shows. I'm going to be extremely jealous of those of you who get to see the man in California, especially the Greek show. :Tour3: :Tour3: :Tour3: I can't believe it's almost here -- and that I'm now buying tickets for Christmas shows!!!!!!
  5. I'm not only worried that muski is talking about herself in third person, but that she's also attempting to see the Houston show on July 5. Check your calendar, babe.... :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  6. Woohoo!!!!! EEEEEE! Chicago Sun-Times luckiest1, want to try for it again?!?! That's a Saturday.
  7. OK, here's the deal, see [tm Ross Perot]. I'm not going to Frisco, sadly. I think KAndre may be mixing me up with muskifest -- she and I have the same real first names. I'm pretty sure muski and Claygasm are flying into Love, but I'll let them post their own details. Here's what's happening with me, as far as I know: July 5: arrive in Houston with HeidiHo. We'll party that night -- not sure where yet. She and I are staying in a hotel -- I don't know which one, I think it's the one where the post party will be after the Houston show. July 6: Heidi and I attend the infamous eHP preparty, swoon at the beautiful man and his singing. Then, Heidi and I will part ways. I THINK I'm staying with keepingfaith and her sister after the show. July 7: wake up too darn early and get in a car with keepingfaith and her sister to drive to Tulsa. We're going to the OK fans preparty, and then we'll swoon at the beautiful man and his singing. Then, the three of us plus Clayzorback will sleep at the Crowne Plaza. July 8: I'll need a ride to the Tulsa airport, and I THINK keepingfaith said she would do that. If not, I'll get a cab or a shuttle. I fly home from Tulsa. Anyone else?
  8. treenuts, I'm posting this here too.... I don't want you to go back to lurkerdom, honestly. I've enjoyed getting to know you, and I'm sorry I came off as harsh. It's just that wikipedia is a very sore subject for me.
  9. EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! But can someone try to get me a ticket? I'll be in Minnesota on Saturday!!!! PWEEZE!?!?!?!? Got my FCA tshirt today. My report: it took just over a week to get it. The printing quality is fine! I ordered a large white v-necked shirt, and I like the fit on me personally, but I like my stuff on the order of a tighter fit. If you like your clothes loose, I'd go one size up. I love Jimmy Kimmel. Not as much as Clay Aiken, though.
  10. Librarian hat goes on... Ahem... I personally don't think Wikipedia rocks. At all. The way anyone can change anything in an article is just so, so wrong to this librarian. I mean this as no offense to treenuts who brought this over, but there is a long and, shall we say, varied history with this article. Again, no offense, but Wikipedia is no authoritative resource. Librarian hat off...
  11. Not going there, not going there, not going there... Oh hell, I give up. I've been trained by muski...
  12. It's a speed drawing of Clay Aiken...v.v. strange. I have an ankle bracelet -- thanks to Beads for Life!
  13. You know, sometimes you find the most interesting stuff on YouTube...
  14. Well then, I'll make a confession - I'm having minor (I mean, seriously minor) surgery on my foot Wednesday. I have to have it done Wednesday because every other date conflicted with a Clay concert. I have my priorities, people. Ya shoulda seen my podiatrist roll his eyes. So THAT was the sound I heard the other day! I could have sworn it was the sound of eyes rolling.... *g* Hope things go well for you KAndre. The big question -- will you still be able to wear fabulous shoes? I forgot in my massive missive yesterday to talk about allergies -- and to say I really can't help. I've been an allergic mess since I was a kid (Hey! Clay and I have a connection!), and I take prescription strength Allegra D every day. I'm also subjecting myself to a round of allergy desensitization shots. I think after 6 months it's starting to work. (This is a LONG process). Faye? Totally out of luck on the pin. Clay, however -- well, I'll sacrifice one of my pins when I get that M&G. *g* Explaining the pin should be fun. {{{{{Caro}}}}}]
  15. Clay Aiken Adds Dates to Magical Holiday Tour 2007
  16. No time right now to post a lot, but I saw this one on the CH this morning (full text in the Fast Forward News section): Clay Aiken Adds Dates to Magical Holiday Tour 2007 Bolding mine. I like that. {{{{{{playbiller}}}}}}}}}}] Hope things work out for the best.
  17. CG, no that wasn't my husband at Boston -- unfortunately. I seem to remember that the wife was someone who posted regularly atCV, but the name escapes me at the moment. Anyway, I so enjoyed that husband bit -- finding someone who was attending a Clay Aiken concert on his honeymoon was so great, and I think Clay thought it hysterical too. My husband's taste in music runs toward the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Steely Dan, bluegrass, and old time country music, plus throw in some old jazz at the moment as well. He's got ecclectic music tastes, not really into current pop music at all....and he's seen Clay in concert 5 times. I :::heart::: my husband. You were at Boston, CG? How cool is that! I'm so very glad that in a few days though we're going to get to meet in person and squee and eeeeeeeee and just soak in the Clay!
  18. I love this place – I’ve been gone for 2 days and the pages flew by!!! Favorite concert memories: AI2 St. Louis: not great seats (this was before I knew about things such as upgrades and last minute seat releases by Ticketmaster), but I distinctly remember two things. The first was being able to see him get onto the platform before it rose up for his entrance for TITN. My first ever glimpse of Clay live! The other was watching him, through binoculars, during the BeeGees medley. As soon as it finished, I could see it in his face – he knew he’d done the dance steps correctly! And not 2 minutes later, he was bragging on that from the stage. It was so funny. Dayton NAT: ISY. ‘nuff said. (And if you need it, I’m sure YSRN will be more than happy to post the YouTube link. *g*) Charlotte NAT: just seeing both “I’m cracking up” Clay (thanks to Ethel , and the Energizer bunny band that kept going and going and going and goind....) and the little humper boy made that night totally magical. Atlanta JNT 2004, the Friday night show: this is one of those memories where there’s no visual clack available, so that makes it even more special to me that I was there! This was one of the first times when he was telling the story of his friend cruising down the road listening to Clay Aiken (“and you can never have too much Clay Aiken!”). When he was telling the story, he was making the driving motions, and it was just so cute. Well, later in the show, when he asked Jacob what his New Year’s Resolution was, he replied, “to make this motion a lot more.” And then he, Q & A started making that driving motion ala Clay earlier. Clay. Cracked. Up. It was fantastic. JBT Boston: Front row baby! And having him walk directly next to me to get to the husband (which, IMO, was the funniest hubby bit of the entire tour) was indescribable. JNT2006 Merrillville: since I was with luckiest1, I’m sure you can understand that I too was blown away when he hit the note during AIW. The room was electric! I wonder though how many not.just.us fans got the significance of that night for the diehard fans. Very cool on the Minnesota dates for Christmas. Unfortunately, it will be a little too early for me to visit my husband’s family, but I maybe I can sneak the last date in. I keep hoping for a Peoria concert if he’s focusing on the Midwest. It’s funny y’all are talking so much about the Toronto JBT, because that was clack that I missed until many months later. I was attending the shows the next two nights, New Hampshire and Boston, so I skipped the cellcert, and didn’t have a chance to download the clack right away. Then, a few months later, luckiest1 sent me a DVD of her montages with goldarngirl of that show. Loved it! {{{{{{{{{muski}}}}}}}}}, hope the house is dry soon and the dog is happy again too! Clayzor, sorry to hear about your rainy garage sale. Me? I’ll never do a garage sale. Too much work. Our church youth has a yearly sale, and we just keep stuff up throughout the year and then take it to them to sell and keep the money. As a matter of fact, we’ll be doing that tomorrow! YAY for YSRN attempting to go to a show or two or 10. *g* treenuts, I understand your frustration, even though I’ve been thrilled to hear Clay a time or two unexpectedly in the middle of breakfast out, or shopping for socks. Heh. Maybe it’s totally because the few times it’s happened to me, I’ve been posting on boards with linear threads (not needing to start a new thread!) and also had other things to post besides! This is me: Jacob, eh? OK, I’ve got a few questions/observations. Firstly – since PuddinsJoy mentioned being involved with the candles at KC – was that planned after Jacob left the show in Iowa, or was that something that had been planned for a while? I’ve always wondered that. I thought it was just fortuitous circumstances – that the fans in KC planned the lights, but then timing made the whole situation that much more interesting for Clay. But, I’d love to hear if my intuition on that was correct or not. Secondly – I remember the Raleigh N&O article (the one that talked so much about the “new” album) also talking about the rules for all the people involved with the show. One of those rules was that all participants had to arrive in the next city the day previous of the show if that had more than a few days off. And then, it was mentioned that Clay had to let someone go because of that infringement. Wasn’t the assumption that this was Jacob? We really don’t know, of course, but my guess is that something probably went down earlier in the day and that something happened during the show that finally caused the no-show. Again, I don’t even know that the incident mentioned in the article was even about Jacob, but at least I can make the pieces fit together. I see that bottlecap and I are on the same wavelength with that... Ever notice how almost no one complained about Jacob’s sax playing during the JBT? I contend to this day that it wasn’t necessarily Jacob’s playing during the NAT that was the problem, but that it was the difference between a soprano saxophone (which is naturally shrill and what he played at the NAT) and an alto saxophone (more mellow, JBT). As for his singing, I thought he blended quite well with Clay’s voice too. It’s perfectly OK to just not like Jacob. I just never cared all that much, actually. OK, if you’ve made it through this tome….you’re a better person than I!!! LOVE THE NEW BANNER! Told my SIL this weekend that I was doing a "Clay adventure" in a few weeks. Little do they know that I've done 5 others of these plane trips, not to mention the driving trips. *g* I honestly couldn't tell if she was freaked out or not. And I conveniently forgot to tell my Mom all about my trip too. Amazing how, even in my mid-40's, I'm still worried about what my Mom would say. Actually, I know what she'd say -- "you're meeting people from the internet? They could be axe murderers! And why aren't you visiting your sister in Florida instead of seeing this Clay guy? Couldn't you spend your money better?" *sigh* Just over a week! EEEEEEEEEEEEE! :Tour3: :Tour3: :Tour3:
  19. Just bopping in to send good vibes to both Caro and Claygasm!!!! Pictures? Did someone say picture? *g* OK, only two...I'm still gahing over CG's last round though... This one is definitely one of my favorites.... And a nice closeup...
  20. couchie wrote: Hee! I was thinking about bringing something similar to this onto the board yesterday. During the NAT, it was WYSYLM; for the Christmas shows, it's generally MDYK. So, what will be the song that he will mess up consistently? It sounds like SSTBTHW has the edge at this point. I too cannot wait for these shows, and think it will be a rockin' good time, even if much of the show is based on ballads. Shoot, I came up with the name for the tour, "Rockin' the Ballads" right after ATDW came out. I'm bummed that Clay didn't try to use that name, and give me credit. *g* So...regarding M&Gs....should I be working the "power of positive thinking" angle, or the "I'm not going to get one" angle in order to get a M&G? Great posts the past day or so. I've just been swamped at work, and then I'm away for most of the weekend myself. *sigh*
  21. Raleigh New & Observer In this off-Broadway musical, Clay's the thing
  22. A pretty cool article about "Idol: the Musical" from the Raleigh News & Observer... In this Off-Broadway musical, Clay's the Thing Entire article is in the Fast Forward News Section as well. So, does Clay have two assistants now? And will Janice work her way into laughn's world? :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  23. Well, now wait a minute...he doesn't seem to wear shoes WITH laces, as proved by this and this. Either that, or he wears flip-flops (and I can't find a picture of that at the moment, sorry). So I'm beginning to think that the shoe-tying metaphor doesn't work very well anymore.... muski, I'm so sorry to hear about your house troubles. Total bummer. Seems to me we've seen quite a range of music from Clay over the last four years. If someone asked me what Clay had been telling me since he came off of AI, or what I'd learn to expect from him, I'd say "that he loves to sing, can sing almost anything, and to expect the unexpected from him because he refuses to stay inside any box that anyone else wants to put him in." Some of my favorite songs he's sung have been in concert - Rosanna, Kyrie, Where The Streets Have No Name, Chain of Fools, WDC, Alone. We heard lots of "rockin" Clay during the IT, NAT, and the JBT. He hasn't done a pop concert tour since then. Since then, we've had two Christmas tours, ATDW, and AIW. No doubt he loves ballads, but I think he also loves to rock out. To me, he's always looked like he's having the most fun when he's getting down and jumping around up on stage. I will always enjoy watching him perfom upbeat songs - Invisible, Perfect Day, Back for More, the 50s Medley, and anything else where he moves around, pumps his arms and jumps around. He looks so happy and like he's having fun. That's something I've missed alot these past couple of years. I imagine that is what some others have missed as well and why some have been concerned about a summer concert with a symphony. I think for me, personally, is that some of the people who want him to rock out are really, really, REALLY focused on that, to the exclusion of him singing any ballads. I too enjoy his performances of Invisible -- shoot, it's made me CRY more than a few times! The 50's medley -- yes, he was having a grand old time. But he also sang a ballad or two during that medley as well, and IMO some people "conveniently" forget that. I love watching him do pop/rock (and I really think that's closer to the correct term -- rock to me is more Metallica), but I also really loved him doing "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You" during the Elvis medley. My point is that there's many different facets to Clay and his performance styles. Right now the focus seems to be on his softer side (and whose choice that is -- Clays', Clive's, RCA's, whatever -- we do not know), and while I sympathize with those people who want the rock star to be here now, it may not happen that way. But you know, that's the thing -- we really don't know. I think, though, that some are wishing so hard for rock!star!Clay to appear, that they seem to miss the forest for the trees -- as someone said earlier, missing the beauty of the Clay Aiken that is directly in front of them. Totally agree. Well, first of all, thank you for stating your opinion on that -- a gutsy thing, and I AM glad to hear it. However, there's a couple of things here. One of them is that I just can't worry about Clay all that much. He's a grown man, and he can take care of things. I'm not his mother, so I can't feel the need to fuss over things that are happening to him/with him/about him. The other thing is that even if someone here does express concerns or even strong opinions about something, it almost feels like a "vent" that is let go as soon as it is posted. People reply, or choose not to, and soon the topic has moved on. Sure, many of us will pick up on it, and state our own ideas, and that's great. But I've never felt that a topic has gotten bogged down here, while I have at other places. I know that made no sense, but I'm too lazy to fix it. The first thread title here at FCA was "Ready for Your Constant State of Celebration." I like celebrations. They make me happy.
  24. :::happy sigh::: I too loved the video, or at least the way Clay looked in it. Lord in heaven, I almost fainted the first time I saw that last eyef***. And yes, I think that people were really expecting Clay to have a hawt and heavy love scene in that video, which of course didn't happen. LTS really gave us some good background information on that. play, I loved seeing your "home away from home." I'm with KAndre, I'm sure we could all fit in there....kinda like that 60's craze of stuffing people into a Volkswagon bug.... He's never opened a concert with Invisible, has he? That could be quite funny, actually. I'm still thinking it will be RHW though, just as he did for the Foster gala...with those long feet striding in. Guh. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Cannot wait! {{{{{{{{muski}}}}}}}} My husband and I have been lucky in the fact that we've been in our house 8 years now, and approximately 1 major appliance has broken each year. At least they are spread out! Hee. Bravo! I personally find the ageism in this fandom to be totally frustrating. IMO, he doesn't need younger fans to expand his fan base, he just needs FANS. And as far as I know, my money (as an almost middle-aged person *g*) is as good as a 25 year old's. Maybe even better, because I think older audiences tend to stay loyal. I kind of believe that those who think he needs younger fans are hoping that the media will pick up on it, therefore relieving them of the fandom focus of older women that the media likes to portray. Sure, that's ageism too, because there are a good number of younger people going to Clay's shows. I think though that those within the fandom proclaiming that he needs younger fans maybe should look in a mirror sometime. JMO and all that crap. Claygasm wrote: I'm honestly not sure if I even want to know...but ITA with your entire post. Meanwhile, I'm going to my happy place with the fact that in 2 weeks, I'll be in HOUSTON and then I'll be seeing CLAY!!!! :Tour3: :TourExcite: :Tour3: :TourExcite: :Tour3: :TourExcite:
