  1. When I cleaned my office two weeks ago, I found some of my notes for this and said to myself that I really needed to get on that. Well, guess what? I did it tonight -- think of it as Christmas in June. OCOCE ratings! My apologies for putting it off. It was actually easier to complete now that I wasn't a bit burned out of the song. (And yes, I do think you can burn out on Clay stuff on occasion. Sue. me. ) Other than that, I don't have a lot of time to post this evening. Hubby is leaving for four days tomorrow, and I'm going somewhere else myself over the weekend. Sigh...I miss him already. But in two weeks -- for me -- the adventure begins! :Tour3:
  2. Hey! It's Christmas in June! Yes, I've finally gotten around to this. 5 months ago, I had a terrible time whittling my list down, but got it to 12 clips. After letting it sit for a few months though (and I apologize for that), it took me all of 30 minutes to come up with this list! All of these clips have practically no audience interference. Winner #1: 061204_Verona_OCOCE_Ianaren&TorontoGirl05. In my opinion, this one is simply amazing. Clay had gotten “in the groove” for touring by this show, and his performance is magical. The “production” on this clip is incredibly clear, and the balance between instruments and voice is great. Bravo! Winner #2: 061215_WestPoint_OCOCE_Scarlett_xViD. Clay’s voice is strong and clear as a bell in this clip. Scarlett captured a fantastic performance that night. Runner Up #1: 061202_Merrillville_Banter&OCOCE_Crimsonice. Now, I’m partial to this clip, because this is the show I attended, and Clay’s voice is a little rough (IMO, he wasn’t at full tour voice quite yet). But the recording on this one is fantastic, and it’s one of the cleanest clips out there. This is also one of the few that he added a vocal variance to, toward the end of the song. Runner Up #2: In my mind, I had to pick a Long Island clip, just because I was simply amazed at what he pulled off that evening. The best of the bunch is 061214_LongIsland_Banter&OCOCE_TorontoGirl05. I thought this had some great sound quality and balance to the song.
  3. YSRN, I found that article! It was actually an early Foxes on Idol piece.... Clay Aiken’s Stardom: The Real Way People Measure a Man! Sounds to me like you need to train that daughter of your's in the ways of big feet. OTOH, maybe you don't want to get into that with a 12-year-old. (What can I say, I don't have kids, I don't know whether a 12-y-o would want to know about that or not....*g*) Holy hell, Batman! Stick a fork in me, I'm cooked. You did quite well.... Hee! But won't your Mom and SIL be shaking and screaming along with you? *g* Evil Houston Posse. KAndre and her band of renowned. The sultans of bling. The masters of style. *Do you think this will get me a pass into merrieee's house for a party after Houston and then on to the Tulsa show?* That's very cool. I know a number of people who didn't like the LKL interview (particularly one section which needs not be named), but I think it's great that at least one person saw that and went "he's good." I really think that that interview showed a great side to Clay Aiken. I loved it too treenuts! Name the disorder? This is a disease? I thought it perfectly normal. :medium-smiley-070: ETA: merrieee, if you label me as a virgin -- heh. I like it. That just means I'll be deflowered later in the evening. ETA2: CG, I think I would start treating the situation as Clay does with the gnats -- ignore them. I know, I would want to fight them too, because I can't see hating someone just for whatever she's done (or not done). But it seems that somehow, they are getting enjoyment from people paying attention. and IMO the best bet is to let them drown in their own sorrow. ETA3: the presale button and password are up for the Fort Myers show on the OFC. If you're going to this show, PM me and I'll add you to the representing list.
  4. Well, why the heck not? It's not that hard, although there are so many more places out there for this kind of thing. I really need to investigate flickr more, actually. But the reason my first picture in photobucket is only from two years ago is for a while, it was IMPOSSIBLE to register with them. Anybody remember that? You could only register for like 2 hours a day, and I was never available. Finally, they let me in. They've probably been regretting it ever since. Thanks for checking on that. Shoot, I'm gonna have to do some librarian digging on my lunch hour for that, if I find the article, I'll let you know. Heh. You funny. Me likey. KAndre, that sounds like a wonderful day trip! I'm jellus. :F_05BL17blowkiss: to atinal, just 'cause.
  5. jmh, I hope the venting helped. I know that sometimes it helps just to let it go in this way. I'm really not one to talk, because at this point, my Mom is in a nursing home, and is getting good care. I don't see her as much as I should, and I think my brother (who lives closest to her) resents it. But....I agree with you that your Mom should be trying to take care of herself better, and if she isn't going to, someone else does. It sounds to me as if your brother and sister are in denial over this, or at least in the "I don't care" stage, and that makes me sad for you. I personally wouldn't want to remember my Mom's last days as her sitting in squalor, etc. Every human, IMO, deserves to be at least comfortable. It also really concerns me about their feelings for the house. Is there THAT much sentimental attachment to it? I hope they realize that renting it without fixing it up is going to not serve the family well. I'm going to guess that it's a case of "we don't have the money NOW," but the long term issues would really suggest to me that they need to start working on repairing and replacing things now. Just pick one, and start with that -- the roof? The furnace? Etc. In the end, I think the return will be better. OK, I know that wasn't much help...so I'm just here to {{{{{{{{{{{{{{jmh}}}}}}}}}}}.
  6. I've got practically the same problem. I think I can stay away from the Frisco cellcert, I'll be too tired from my "visiting the family" trip right before the "going to see boyfriend" trip. It will be hard though to stay away from this board though....and arriving in Houston for the preparty will be incredibly difficult, what with 3/4 of the people going to that party also attending the Frisco show. merrieee, you've made the namtags right? You may have to add "concert virgin" to mine just to keep people away from that topic when they are around me. *g* (I did that for someone during the IT -- they had gone unspoiled, and they actually wanted "concert virgin" on their nametage for exactly that reason...) WooHoo!! This calls for a round of The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" and some danicing nanners! OTOH, I'm still a bit frightened of bottlecap and her obsession with chickens.... I've always had an extreme fondness for that picture too. YSRN, do you have a link to that article? Or a copy of the complete article? I've never read it before, and I LURVE the quotes you had. Besides, I need to add it to the FCA article list (which I'm woefully behind on working on). I LOVE this. I wonder if he's ever gotten used to the adulation like that or not. Heh. Yeah -- and I was one of the few friends who said "no way, I don't want to be a mod." See what happens when you spend enough time with couchie and Ansa? They have their way with you...*g* Yeah that, just on GP. Ditto. I know! But it really thrills me that we're at the point where, with our linear threads, that it doesn't take that long anymore. We're on par with a few other linear thread boards. I think that cool. That's a cool picture! Did you take it? I'm always curious about how Clay came into people's lives, so I'm ready to listen as well! Actually, my dressier stuff is LIGHTER weigh wise than jeans! And I've never been a person to pack my entire wardrobe for a flight. Heck, I flew to Ireland for two weeks, and was WAY under the international weight limit of 50 pounds for my bag! I personally think that people wearing jeans are fine for this concert, although I will be dressing up. I think there will probably be all types there -- but I'm really expecting the not.just.us fans that will be attending to show up in dresses and suits (or at least nice sports coats and shirts). It's a SYMPHONY show to them, not a Clay Aiken concert. IMO, there's a mentality difference there, and as I said yesterday, I was raised that "symphony" = "semi-dressy." I wonder if Clay will give us a blog on this... *g* I also wonder what Clay will wear this go around. Will he be casual for the outdoor shows, and dressy for the indoor ones (similar to the Christmas shows)? Or will he try to stay fairly uniform for all his shows? It will be interesting to see. I just moved the JNT2005 and the JBT to an external harddrive over the weekend to make room for the new clack. Hee. It's the passion. And personally, I go "guh" when he's singing like that.
  7. Welcome! Please tell us more about this next time you post in the Main thread. I love hearing about new discoveries of Clay. Keepingfaith was captured by Clay on AI5 and is going to her first concert this summer too. treenuts! Yes, I'd love to know the story on how you "met" Clay. I can always listen to those kinds of stories!
  8. Heh....my first photobucket picture was also the night I figured out that my computer could do screencaps.... But I like this one better from the same night...
  9. to couchie and mom....sending lots of good thoughts your way..... But she said we should talk about Clay....how about a picture or two instead?
  10. Hey! Look! I remembered how to add an emoticon to our files!!! And I didn't accidentally do it either! Heh....
  11. The overly stressed Clayzorback :medium-smiley-070: wrote: Actually, that's not quite true. FCA proper has been around since 2003, but you'll have to ask couchie for that history. The message board came into existence on July 10-15, 2005 -- just in time for the JBT. The first thread ever is located here. What I find interesting, and quite grand actually, is that it originally took the FCA members ALMOST 8 MONTHS to burn through the first thread. 8 freakin' months. Second thread? 6 months. And it's been going down quickly, ever since. I think we're at about a month down between threads. I think that's great.
  12. OMG, that's so cool! :Tour3: :Tour3: :Tour3: As for the emoticons and images, I'm personally glad we can post images more that emoticons. Emoticons are fun, and very useful. But seriously -- those images above are fanfreakin'tastic, and it's great to see them without having to click on a link. (For those who have images turned off because of work issues -- shoot, that's way too bad, but I understand....) I'm glad I've been in on this message board from the beginning, although at first it was a nice little side project -- a good place to meet up with other fans from across the boards. Now however...it's home. A lot of good people here, and I'm happy to be part of it. I'd still like to know how Claygasm got a higher post count than me, though -- considering I've been a member a lot longer! Whoops, and there's muski right on my tail! Sheesh, you post-hos.
  13. couchie, I've got my outfits picked out because 1) It's just over 2 weeks until my concerts (you've got at least a month yet, right?); and 2) I'm going to be on vacation with my husband right before this Clay trip. I leave on the 29th to visit my husband's family, we come back on the 3rd of July. I have the 4th at home to do laundry and pack up again, because on the 5th, I'm going to Houston baybeee!!! I think this will be interesting as well, and I agree that the flavor of these shows will be different. I totally expect the outdoor shows to draw a lot of families who will bring their picnic baskets and expect to have a great little family evening outside, with some good music provided by that guy who won American Idol. *g* OTOH, I'm expecting the indoor crowds to be a bit more "snooty," and maybe also a bit "stuffy" as well. I think much of these crowds will be people who really don't know what to expect -- may not even know who Clay is, but since they have a subscription, they'll be going. Either way, I think this tour may be a bit genius, because I think it will expand his fanbase to young and old alike. JMO and all that.
  14. From what I understand, pricing on Cafe Press is simply by the SHIRT. So, for example, I bought yesterday the white v-necked t-shirt, which is $15.95 (plus shipping). I then uploaded the graphics (one for the front, one for the back) at no extra charge. So there is no charges by the letter or anything like that. If you want one of these "I did Clay in Houston...blah blah blah" shirts, you need to PM YSRN and it sounds like she'll come up with a design for you. Then you just upload it in Cafe Press and pick your style of shirt.
  15. Claygasm, while I'm not pulling out my furs (ack, I would never wear fur) and my best bling (sorry KAndre), I am planning to go a bit dressier than normal for my indoor shows. By that, I do agree with luckiest1 that I personally feel that jeans and t-shirts and tennis shoes are out (again, for me personally). I'm one that hears the words "symphony" and "theater" and thinks a step-up in the clothing department. I hear the word "arena" and think jeans and t-shirts. I know that's really not the case anymore, that people show up to Broadway shows in shorts, but I just wasn't raised that way. And the outdoors shows, if I was going to one, I would probably be in shorts. I've picked out my two outfits for my shows too -- a nice skirt/short sleeved sweater set (that doesn't wrinkle), and a Chicos travel pants/shirt set. Chicos travel stuff is the best stuff ever, even though it's expensive. Throw it into a suitcase (don't even worry about folding it), and put it on later, nary a wrinkle.
  16. :00003653: dearest Ansa! It sounds like you've got a great day planned! luckiest1, that show sounds like it would be a LOT of fun. I hope it's successful enough that more of us Clay fans can see it. Hmmmm...wonder if Clay's gonna try to fit in a show during his tour? Clayzorback, clicking on that photo link is very cool!!!!!
  17. *waves at mirimichi gal* Totally OT: that Paul Potts guy, who sang opera for "Britain's Got Talent?" Saw on NBC Nightly News this evening that he won! (Sorry Ansa, he beat the 6-year-old girl...) And he's going to buy a makeover with his win! Meanwhile, back to wishing it was July....
  18. Is it safe for me to come in here yet? I mean, at least I didn't lose the threads...thank God for that.... And yes, I admitted it to couchie and Ansa immediately. Figured I'd give couchie a birthday present so she could gloat a bit.... Now, though, I'm going to see if I can figure out what the other two thread titles were, and see if I can incorporate them some how into a major thread title..... KAndre, I know nuthin' 'bout no Canada, except for one thing -- take your passport!!! I guess the government has eased the restrictions a bit for people who don't have one (I think they need to show a receipt that they are trying to get one), but I know KAndre has one, so take it with you! Other than mourning the loss of Daniel the bass player, this is pretty much me too. I agree with cindilu that it is totally frustrating the way fans NEEEEEED to know what's going on before it happens, but I also gotta admit that the email didn't tell me a lot either. And I'm totally easy too. You know that joke about "singing the phone book?" Yep, still applies to me. Jenna, I've read a few of Stasheff's books, and I seem to remember that KAndre is right, he doesn't reference the SCA personally, but the similarities are there. Speaking of similarities....there are similarities for me personally with the SCA and my Clay fandom. I used to be HEAVILY involved in the SCA -- held a few offices in my local chapter, and pretty much everyone was a friend. But, after time, I started noticing things, such as power going to a few people's heads, and secretive things going on behind the scenes. After being in Clay Aiken fandom for a couple of years, I guess this kind of thing must happen in many organized fan type of things OK, the old humongoid thread has been put in the main thread archives (located here). I've also numbered our last few threads.
  19. Worcester Slow Grind via Clack Unlimited The clip was actually taken by SecretlyLovesClay, if I remember correctly....but MrsLoki made the awesome slo-mo.
  20. Yep, if I do say so myself. Our priorities are pretty darn straight. I'm talking about the AI2 Tour special, which originally aired on New Year's Day, 2004. Here's a link to download from Clack Unlimited. You can get just the Clay parts, or you can download the entire episode. The segment I'm talking about is the Chicago concert debacle -- which caused Pissy!Diva!Clay!, and showed him to the world. I still laugh about that clip. God, I think I need to watch it again....
  21. This is for artquest, whom I think popularized the phrase in connection with Clayfans: FBI to Fight Zombie Hordes OK, so it's about spambots, not Clay Aiken, but still...you gotta admit the headline is funny. Ooooh...heh. Think Clay would want any of our designs, if I presented one to him at my supposed M&G???? Thanks for the reminder, I just ordered mine -- front and back design on a white v-necked shirt. After the Virgin Record Store and the two fans that appeared on Kimmel, I'm going to guess that you'd not be the only one to suggest that. *g*
  22. I will not smut. I will not smut. I will not smut. Aw c'mon. You know you want to. It really doesn't hurt. *g* luckiest1, you spelled centerfold wrong. *runs and hides from all the Canadian fans on this board* Man, I need for it to be July sooooooo badly.
  23. Ooooh, I like luckiest1's question! I think that if I win a mythical M&G (in my dreams, I'm afraid), I'll have him sign either my People magazine from last September (that centerfold... ), or I'll find a cool picture from my collection and having him sign that. I have another question, though. As I said earlier, my concerts are in just over two weeks. Both of my concerts are of the indoor variety. What does everyone think the "dress code" will be? I'm thinking a nice skirt/sweater set for one of my shows, and a nice pants outfit for my other one.
  24. atinal -- shush! It's seeeeeekrit! :F_05BL17blowkiss: You know, for me, it's just over two weeks before I get to see Clay! :Tour3:
