  1. I love this Ford ad - Hmmmm, still it is always about Clay (or sometimes about WIlliam Hung)

hough the Focus SVT is surely not returning, Ford did give the new coupe a new freer-breathing exhaust on models equipped with the five-speed manual to free up some horsepower, and also added a new 4.2 final drive ratio to make off-the-line acceleration a bit quicker. The 2009 Ford Focus Coupe will have a base MSRP of $15,920 when it goes on sale in late Summer, and you can check it out later tonight when Ford officially debuts it in a video on American Idol. We want to hear what supercar collector has to say about the new look Focus Coupe. Is it a Clay Aiken or a William Hung?

Now if Clay got paid everytime someone said his name, he could produce individual records for each of us. Profit would not be an issue

I strongly suspect Clay IS getting paid for the use of his name in that one in particular. Good on him!!

Why would you think that Clay is getting paid for a Ford blog? (note this wasa a real question) I think they are just using his name as a pop point. (this is an opinion

It ain't Ford that is using Clay's name. It's the person who wrote the blog. Big difference. It is not a Ford ad. And it is not a Ford blog. A link is a wonderful thing sometimes (although I know why it isn't a good idea to link blogs): original source of quote - autoblog.

  2. i loved this interview, not jay particularly, but clay was so funny. he was so cute when he played up the bitterness about not getting cast in his high school musical and then blowing a raspberry. however he did tell a fib when he said 5 years, 5 different hair styles. he's had 5 different in just the last year. the christmas tour alone had at least that many.

BWAH!! I'd forgotten that about the Christmas hair changes. :cryingwlaughter:

One thing I've loved about these promo appearances is that he has a huge group of musicians with him for a pop act: two backups, a piano and a keyboardist, the drummer, and was it three guitarists tonight? There were three on GMA but I'm not sure I saw three tonight--it went by so fast. This is a guy who takes his music seriously and it shows.

    And he's CUTE!!

  3. Broken record from me. No artist sells millions album after album after album. It just doesn't happen. That's why such a big deal was made of all of his albums debuting in the top 5 when ATDW came out. Looks like, with the QVC numbers added in, he's certain to make the top 5 again. That's good enough for me. I'd link to the Kylie Minogue article again with the huge build-up and the 6,000 in first week sales, but it's too much trouble to find the link again. I think this album is definitely a success!! Already!! Right now!!

  4. I think I'm starting to get it. I think they want him to sing about sex, not love but sex, and because the lyrics he sings doesn't spell it out in an in your face, I want to screw anying that isn't nailed down sort of way, it's not edgy or cool, and only the Claymates could like it because they're all beyond that in their post menopausal state. :cryingwlaughter::cryingwlaughter::cryingwlaughter:

    That's exactly it.

I e-mailed my friend the template for a typical top 40 hit:

We're going to (euphemism for having sex) now

We're going to (euphemism for having sex) now

We're going to (euphemism for having sex) now

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

We're (euphemism for having sex) now.

We're (euphemism for having sex) now.

We're (euphemism for having sex) now.

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

We're going to (euphemism for having sex) again now.

We're going to (euphemism for having sex) again now.

We're going to (euphemism for having sex) again now.

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    Bumptedy bump bump bump

    For variety, it could be:

I like (euphemism for having sex) with you now

You're hot when we (euphemism for having sex)

Babe, I wish we were (euphemism for having sex)

I can't wait until we (euphemism for having sex) again

    and so forth

Edgy is when the euphemism is particularly creative, or describes a non-traditional sex act (such as London Bridge).

  5. Don't know about WINY and haven't heard it yet--well besides knowing that it was recorded for MOAM--but the other tracks are from AOL Sessions. (You can see those identified, and dated, on your CD itself. I saw it on the QVC order page.) You can find the AOL Sessions, with video (slurp) in the vaults, and also at AOL somewhere. He was really pissy that day about something, and there's also an interview that goes with those--two versions, one of which has him making a pissy remark at the end. Basically, one of those probing for sexual secrets deals, I think, is what made him angry. This was back in early 2004, so I don't remember too well.

  6. This one has to have been produced by Kipper too. It has that same "sound." The piano is pretty, and the high instrumental sound in the background. It's a little jazzy, and we're back to that light drum touch.

Now, bam, we've got the guitar licks and louder drumming. But it doesn't really go there, quickly switches back to a lighter sound.

Clay's singing backup with the girls, I like that.

It's a nice song but doesn't move me like some of the others on the album.

    Biiiiiiiig glory note.

Beat picks up and the song gets louder again towards the end.

Quiet, abrupt ending. "Forget I ever knew you." No instruments. Interesting.

  7. I'll never forget this song in Chautauqua with the rain pouring down.

It was Canandaigua- and it was AMAZING!!!!

Oops - always get those two names mixed up. It was AMAZING, wasn't it?

Wish that the downloads of it could have done it justice. I think it was one of those "you had to be there " moments.

Definitely. It's etched in my memory forever.

I admit I tend to do happy dances of joy at the end of my relationships...

Back when I had 'em, I didn't, but I do a happy dance about deciding not to go there anymore, about being on my own and happy to be that way, satisfaction with that way of being.

I actually think it fits very well. It speaks to learning one HUGE lesson - that we can either sleepwalk through life or open our eyes and realize that each of us can make a difference. in the world or in the lives of others. Its sort of the ultimate lesson in life.

You're good at this lyrics thing. :cryingwlaughter:

  8. This song has a gospel feel to it, with the piano chords and melody. It sounds like a hymn, almost.

After the first verse, it gets jazzy in the second verse, and I like it much better. I love the things he does with his voice in the jazzy verse.

    Again deep voice. YUM.

    "I've been realizin' that...."

Once the choir comes in, then it gets a teeny bit too bombastic for me. I do love that he is dueting with himself here.

    Good message.

One of the few songs on the album with a glory note. Then back to a softer, churchy sounding ending.

  9. I remember the first time I heard this song it moved me to tears - which doesn't happen often.

I so identify with the lyrics.

I think these lyrics are some of the most sophisticated on the CD and the simple arrangement works so well with them. This is someone sitting in a dark room alone and wondering if he ever will find real love. He knows he will survive, be ok, even happy but in his heart he is so lonely. He has so much love to give and he so desperately wants to share that love with someone - and to feel that kind of love in return.

But he still has hope. He still believes it will happen for him one day. That's the part I don't identify with.

Awww you are making me cry again!!!

Yeah its not really that its bitter...its just honest, introspective...and so insightful

pickung up the pieces I wonder if I build it up to watch it fall...

wow to actually think that...it usually takes a therapist to get someone to realize this.

Clay is one mature and self aware person...

    Word to both of you.

  10. Lover All Alone fits so well on this album, and it's definitely one of the best songs on the album. I've always love the spare arrangement, the counterpoint between voice and instruments, the cello. The lyrics are so sad :cry4: and so poignant. It's not entirely hopeless, there's a teeny bit of hope, but mostly very sad.

    Did I mention it's a sad song?

I'll never forget this song in Chautauqua with the rain pouring down.

  11. 11 grace of god

Some folks always get the rough ride

seem to end up on the wrong side

    constant battle just to survive

    on any given day

How can you explain the inequity in the world?

Fairness is something we believe in when we’re young - but as adults learn that the world just isn’t that way.

    Right?

Right! Still hard to accept sometimes, but the world definitelly isn't fair.

One of my favorites. Is your sign cancer too?

Actually yes it is. And how did you guess that?????

I'm a Cancer too. Don't know which song you're talking about though, since I was late.

  12. I really like the theme of this one, and the lyrics. Musically it isn't one of my favorites, but it is catchy and easy to sing along with, unlike some of the more complex ones. I'd put this one in dudley's "Nashville pop" category. There's really nothing country about it, but still something about it reminds me of country pop or gospel.

I like the bridge. "Faith holds the hope for the world."

It's pretty light in sound for the heaviness of the theme.

I like the finger snaps in the last verse.

His voice is so deep throughout this song--that may be my favorite thing about it.

  13. Hey, I'm late. Was at a Raleigh ProC gathering. We had lots of fun!!

    OK, so Sacrificial Love, right?

The vocals are gorgeous on this one. He just sounds scrumptious. The theme isn't something I can particularly relate to personally--maybe sometime in the distant past--but it's a pretty song. Beautiful melody and voice. I love the way he says kiss, and the idea that someone is lying beside him for any reason is HAWT!!

This is another one that would be fantastic for DWTS.

"Do I have to spill my tears

Teach you how to say goodbye"

    "Until you find yourself

    That perfect face."

Love the soft voice at the end.

  14. :cry4: I had to work late tonight. Aaaaand....I left my CD at work! :cry4: I wanted to join the party! :cry4:

Even though you missed the party, I'd love to hear your comments on the songs! Will you be able to get your (or a new) CD before tomorrow night?

  15. The other actors in Spamalot must really be amazed to hear these types of songs from Sir Robin. I think it will take time for others to discover this album but it could be a real breakthrough for Clay. He is not just singing, he is feeling and acting. It proves that he can be right up there with the best singers of all time.
