What happened on that day? I am doing my best to catch up on what everyone already knows.... I already impress some people , well okay, NJUs... with my knowledge about Clay.....of course they don't know where I get it all from.... Wasn't that the day of the (now deleted) post claiming Clay was buying real estate in Montana or some such place? That was then linked to lots of other boards? Or was it the day we were first with a sexy pic that got linked a lot? (one of Muski's favorites) You might be right, being as how you had intimate knowledge of this. Heh. I've been looking into this issue. The "Clay buying a house in Branson" thing was at the end of August; so was the infamous "Clay unzipped" picture. Both of these brought a bunch of new members here to FCA -- some who even stayed! :F_05BL17blowkiss: But I've looked at our archives like CRAZY, and cannot for the life of me what happened at the end of September that caused the influx of people visiting the site. Yeah, I do too. As much as I love my iPod, I really do like have the liner notes and such. The reason for this doesn't come through in the editing of AIR. In the original broadcast, Clay was the last person to sing -- and they were running real short of time. Hence, they only let Simon speak. (Piffle) The AIR edit doesn't let you know that. Well, I just found out that I've scheduled my trip to NYC at the worst possible time, actually. I have a summit that I'm in charge of, and that is April 8. OK, I can get a lot of work done on it before I go March 28-31. But nooooooooooo -- NOW I find out that I have to write a program plan for the library and have it in to my boss April 4 as well. Considering I've never written one before in my life....I'm sick to my stomach over this. But there is no way in HELL I'm canceling my two days off work to see CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I'll just have to keep my nose to the grindstone. In other words, no searching the FCA Archives for a LONG while. *g*

I usually buy multiples of almost anything Clay does! Hee. Of Clay's CD's, I actually usually buy "too" many -- of course, that helps him, but I do have 3 of all his CD's sitting around, I think. I usually get one for my car, one for my house, and one that I keep hermetically sealed to keep forever as an archived copy. (Also, hoping that when I'm 85 and need to pay for my nursing home, I can sell it for ooodles of monies.... *g*) Now that I have an iPod, I'm sure I'll also get a copy from iTunes. I will also probably buy a few copies of his new album for a few people who I know will like it, or have talked to me about liking Clay. But that's just me. As for your other question CG, I've been trying to search archives of message boards, to no avail. I think couchie's theory may be correct, though....it was TBD for a LONG time. I just had a very brief chat with Ansa. She and the girls made it to the Philippines safe and sound, but she was suffering from major jet lag. Has anyone heard from couchie today? I'm a bit worried for her.... Everyone should do what they want to do regarding the pre-order of Clay's next album. However, I do follow play's logic -- IMO, it should be a slow and steady build-up to the release (I've been taking lessons from muski, did I do good?). Mass pre-orders now, followed by very little? I don't think that builds quite the impression that many of us want. muski, that is so great about the young people at your daughter's school. They rock. FromClaygary -- BWAH! I don't think you did. I think wanda is talking about the interview with Linda Loveland last week, where Clay "showed off" his underwear and tights. If I'm wrong, I'm sure wanda HAD BETTER LET US KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because if there's a new video clip out there, with Clay wearing said items and showing them off...well, I'm writing off work for the day.

I would say my grade would be a "C" from the Clay Aiken School of Financial Management. I am doing one Spamalot trip -- when I hadn't planned on ANY trips. And I'll probably splurge for a few more tickets to the show while I'm there. But....having said that...when there's a husband involved (one who is wanting us to put new windows and gutters on our house, not to mention remodeling the bathroom), it kind of knocks the grade down a bit. *g* 3 pieces of Clack? Oh God no. Only 3?!?!?! That's insanity.

My husband claims I curse more lately than I did before, and he thinks it's because of me hanging out with all you guys. I don't know where he got that idea. I still don't curse all that much, but it's mostly when I'm mad as hell. Also, stupidity in traffic makes me curse. But I will say that I think my cursing on this board may be seeping out into my RL talk. *shrug* I hope Clay has a good day off today. I seem to remember a screen crawl during last week's episode announcing that the show would be on yesterday. Which I of course totally forgot about. Figures. I'm going to hope my local station will show it just under two hours....but that channel is showing NASCAR at the moment. So, I could miss this episode all together. *sigh*

Ho hum....just another boring day in the fandom, I see. And honestly, that's pretty much all I have to say about that. I think maybe I'll go to the gym this afternoon and listen to Clay sing to meeeee! Ansa, I hope you have a fabulous time on your trip. Please keep in touch! I still love the Moanica picture. He was so damn cute that day. Of course, I find him "so damn CUTE" every damn day.

What is it about Clay? Damned if I know. (Gotta steal from the best, don't ya know. And heh....just had a thought. That line above should be a thread title....) What draws you to him?There's a couple of things at play here, for me. One is, as Gladys so rightfully put it, is that he's a mystery. He's constantly surprising me, and I like that. From his hair to what he sings to his career choices, I never quite know what to expect from the man, and while I normally hate that kind of thing, in his case I find that charming as hell. Secondly, it's his sense of humor. As couchie said, the man is QUICK, and I'll never forget the day I figured that out. I had been half-heartedly following AI, even through the beginning on season two. I liked Clay's underdog quality about him, and thought he had a really really good voice, but still wasn't really all that invested. Then, they showed the visit to the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. Clay mentions that he's from Raleigh; a person in the audience claps. He then says, "if you're here, who's at home?" At that precise moment, I knew the man had a brain, and was funny. Have you ever been this involved in another singer's career? Yes and no. I've been a fangirl almost my entire life -- actors and singers. So, I've been involved in their careers in the fact that I've gone to see Raiders of the Lost Ark almost 35 times in the theater, or seen Huey Lewis in concert more than a few times. But....the internet wasn't around for most of these fandoms for me, and to me, that changed everything. The speed of clack being uploaded, and the instant sharing of ideas, is a boon to someone like me. Is it just the singing? No. I do love Clay's voice, I really do, but I would say that's fourth on my list of his favorite qualities. His humor and his brains would be number one and number two. The other would be his heart -- the man seems so caring to me. (Sorry for the sap....) What is the other key trait that makes you get on a message board every day or download some clack? Easy. The friendships. I love reading about Clay....but I also love knowing what is going on with every single person here. And was it the voting and the nature of Idol that invested you so much? Again, no. I only voted the last two weeks. I think for me, the reason I'm invested is because of the MAN. _____ Crap. Well, it took a month and a half. I guess maybe I was afraid it would be a shorter period of time than that.

cindilu, that article linked says that CMH is usually associated with Christmas, but they are changing one lyric (the first line) to take the only real "holiday" reference out. (Hopefully, they asked Kenny L. first! Hee) In the case of the interviews with Linda, I'd totally agree with this assessment. He knows Linda, he likes Linda, he trusts Linda....and vice versa. He seems to open up to people who he likes and trusts. Diane S. is another one. Heck, I'd even throw old bird Larry King into that mix. He's turned into a terrible interviewer anymore (and not just with Clay), but I've always got the feeling that Clay likes him. To be totally self-serving, may I suggest

Considering that several of us have our only Spamalot trip planned for March, I would say -- NO!!!! Yeah, I think claytonic will be a bit busy this weekend. You know, I was never a "I can see it in his eyes" person, so I can only vaguely comment on that. However, I will totally agree with this.... He is definitely a survivor, in soooooo many ways. And I think it is fantastic that he's found someone (both Jaymes and Kipper) who are helping him find his muse to channel everything that is going on his life. It's exciting, ya'll. Definite thread title nomination.
