  1. WRAL.com Clay Aiken Spills the Beans on Upcoming Album
  2. {{{{{{Cotton}}}}}} Welcome back zena! Good Lord, the interview on the WRAL.com website is LONG!!!! It's going on 10 minutes, and I'm still listening! There's LOTS! Make sure you watch!
  3. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Just watched the clip via WRAL streaming. Two songs mentioned: On My Way Here (the ballad, could be the album title) and Ashes (the uptempo track). He's shooting for LAA to be on this album too!!!!!!!!!!!!! On My Way Here is the theme of the album. Kipper is the "secret." He has also written a track for Clay that has an R&B feel. (EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!) They are supposed to have audio clips up on the WRAL website soon. EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Whew. That was exciting! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! ETA: Article on WRAL.com up already! And they have the video up too!
  4. I'm back from my meeting. My boss was there, totally supporting me, as I told her boss that I just don't want to be saddled with the administration duties here at the library. It wasn't what I was hired to do. However, my boss' boss feels there's got to be someone on staff who can do this. Shyeah, right. So ANOTHER meeting will be called soon, and I'll go over all this again, along with other colleagues who work with me. All I know is that I'm so tired. EEEEEEEEEEE for new music from Clay. I'm looking forward to what Kipper and Clay can each bring to the party. Kipper and Clay. Sounds like a cartoon.
  5. CG, we have computers with the speakers built into the monitors all over our library. Look on the back of the thing, there is BOUND to be a headphone jack there somewhere. ETA: Another WRAL promo clip from Clack Unlimited
  6. CG, maybe someone could call you and play the clip to you over the phone? If I wasn't going to be in a meeting soon, I'd do it!!! I've watched the clip a few times now....and EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Very cool. It sounds like a neat song.
  7. Sting? couchie. you're right in that his work with the Police was more rock 'n roll...but it was always tinged with jazz as well. And by the time he went solo, he really went way more heavy on the jazz influences. My favorite album on his was his first one, "The Dream of the Blue Turtle" with the hit "If You Love Someone, Set Them Free." I noticed that Kipper worked on the song "Desert Rose" with Clay. This is the Middle Eastern influenced song from one of his later albums...that was used for a car commercia. Oh, and Sting's last album (also with work by Kipper)? The music of John Dowland, played on lutes (medieval stringed instruments). My husband plays the lute (and is building a few of them) but we never got around to getting the album. He did let me read some of the reviews in a lute journal he subscribes to. Let's just say the purists were not amused. *g* So yeah, it looks as if Kipper is a "march to his own beat" kind of person. It will be very interesting to see what he can pull out of Clay...and from what we read in the Broadway.com interview, what Clay managed to convince Kipper to do as well. (Remember the "we don't want to aim for radio play?") Wish me luck guys....I've got to stand up to my boss' boss in a few hours and tell her that I don't want to be a library director, that I like my life without having to field phone calls from sick employees or whiny patrons, that even with extra pay (which they won't provide anyway) I simply don't have the personality type to be the kind of leader that the library needs. We'll see if she listens.
  8. I'd forgotten about the PromoSquad snippets. I did listen to them. The Clear Channel stuff? I put the album on, and then turned the sound down. In that way, I could support Clay (to show I was interested) and yet, kept myself unspoiled. And yeah, I know....life is short, listen to Clay when I can, blah blah blah. People tried that with me the last time, and the time before that, etc. I guess I just like delayed gratification. I like the act of discovery, especially on the day the album is meant to be released. It just makes me enjoy it all that much more, for some reason. And I know that not everyone is like me. Eh.
  9. Regarding album spoilerish stuff.... I'll read stuff, if it is put in front of me. I'll even listen to demos of the possible songs. BUT -- I always keep in the back of my head that what I'm reading could easily change, and what I'm listening to won't sound anything like what Clay can do with a song. I'm pretty good at keeping an open mind regarding this stuff. But actual leaks of Clay's recordings, once he's done with the album? Nope. Won't do it. Didn't with MOAM. Didn't with MCWL. Didn't with ATDW. I can easily resist leaks of the final album; I'd much rather hear the album for the first time the day it is meant to be released. I'll be strong. I'm thinking "Clay's secret regarding what his fans don't know about his music" is that there are NO secrets in what he likes for music. But I could be talking out of my butt.
  10. For some reason....I'm imagining this scenario right now... Clay, in his apartment in NYC. Dressed in a bathrobe (not going to say what is underneath the robe *g*). Chicken soup at his side, as well as cough drops and some antibiotic. Sitting at his Mac. Reading the boards. Laughing uncontrollably at how quickly his fans figured out both the song and the producer. Coughing fit from the laughter. And then he goes to bed and sleeps.
  11. laughn, thanks for clarifying.... Heh. I don't normally do this, but I couldn't resist because I saw Sting's name.... Kipper
  12. {{{{{{{{Clay}}}}}} {{{{{fans missing Clay tonight}}}}}} At least it was a Tuesday, when there are less people attending.... Understudies from the Playbill I ordered: Brad Bradley, Thomas Cannizzaro, Matthew Crowle, Greg Reuter, Lee A. Wilkins laughn, any names ring a bell?
  13. play, what are you talking about? Did we receive word that Clay's not on stage tonight?
  14. Guy with a British accent? Sounds like our producer may be revealed! cindi, I agree that actively engaging idiot blogger on his own blog is stupid. And I'm sure our rants here are mostly harmless. Having said that...we do have guests here, and even the admins don't know the identity of them. I guess it's just my nature, but I've always one that felt that hatred breeds even more hatred, and somewhere down the line, the circle has to be broken. In my case, it ends with ME ignoring the jerk. And yes, I realize I've just broken my own rule with this post. It's a hard world we live in. Meanwhile, back at the ranch....I think I'll just do a bunch of happy dances that we'll be getting album news very soon! EEEEEEEEEEEE! :Pogo0:
  15. Sorry for the postho.... Thanks for the info. Blech. But now, this brings up an interesting question to me: are WE (Royal) part of the problem? I think he thrives on people hating on him, as much as he thrives on people loving what he does. I know, it's fantastic to rant about what a waste of space the man is. I've done it more than a few times myself. And I know this sounds like censorship (something I'm totally against as a librarian), but I sometimes wish references to him would be ignored. In this case, it's actually kind of funny, if I'm reading this board correctly -- Saint David Foster's company hired him? BWAHAHA! So I guess I can understand it being brought over. But, in my case, I just tend to ignore whenever possible. I know I can't tell people what to say and think though, so I'll just shut up now.
  16. I'm one that believes that this kind of "karma" (or whatever you want to call it) will come. The question is, when? And that's the main problem in a nutshell -- I think God probably has a plan for almost all scum suckers of the world, but unfortunately, God also tends to take these things in time. In this case, I do wish God would hurry up a bit; but just as I can't tell Clay what to do with his career, I can't tell God what to do either. But I do still hold onto the belief that it will happen. In the meantime, I'll just be sad with the rest of you that much society seems to enjoy what PH does. I just tend to ignore the PH stuff -- anything to do with him. Didn't get the PH references in the Kimmel video from yesterday until someone explained it to me, and I think I'm probably just the better for it. I don't have time in my life for that kind of crap. I don't know, people said that about him getting a show on VH1 too. How many episodes did it go? One? Two? Is it even still on? As I said, it is rather sickening, but I still think the best thing is to just ignore the "little maggot."
  17. You might want to right-click and save this one, for later use....
  18. It snowed here too, but not as much (maybe 2-4 inches). Not enough to cancel school. However, right now....my throat is raw, my head is filled with gunk, and I'm drinking lots of tea. So, it's good in that I'm not at work, but bad because I feel lousy. I'm making myself feel better by listening to my CITH song. Remember that project? Anyone? Anyone? I know luckiest1 is finished with hers. I've only got about 25 more to listen to, and then make my final decisions. I can at least get through the major portion of them today. For those who have to go out today and are in the middle of bad weather -- please drive safe. I hope Clay is feeling much better today too, and that he got lots of rest yesterday.
  19. New images from clayaikenpix.com. They've got a bunch of new "old" ones from ACAC, such as this: And this... They've also got new "old" pictures from Scrubs, such as this (wenches seem a bit enthralled with Clay, eh?): They've got more of both of these photo shoots. Oh yeah, they've also got 4 more from the AP/Spam interview. Heh. Make sure to click a few times.... My work, for today, is done.
  20. Damn it Gibby, you beat me to it! I was going to post the People magazine article about it though.... I still can't beethe from laughing.
  21. This is news? I guess she's new to the world of Clay Aiken. You know, honestly -- for some people, yeah this is news. He has the image of the big voiced belter. There's lots of things that cultivated that image, including Clay himself IMO. So, for him to be doing something like Spamalot, where there's more subtlety involved, I think it will open some people's eyes. And yes, I think their ears would have been opened if they had LISTENED to ATDW. I know, people will point in the direction of LAA, and I can agree with that. But I would have also pointed people in the direction of HYCA too -- what a range that song has, and I think people would have been truly surprised (in a good way) with that song! Clay wrote: I know I'm "parsing his words" here, but the way this is written, I wonder if he did these blogs ahead of time, and they are just publishing them once a week (except for the one week they forgot....). Damn, got to work. More later....I want to reply/agree with KAndre for sure.
