  1. Hey Caro! (Love the nickname, BTW...) Chat???? FCA Chat -- tonight! 9:00 - 11:00 EDT!!!! Also will be the same time on Saturday evening! Location is HERE!!! Topics for tonight: This will be "short burst" chat -- no more than 20-30 minutes on each topic. Looking forward to it!
  2. Yeah, I like that idea....THUD! That's not what Clay's hair in these pics tell me. ETA: CG -- the thing is, not everyone thinks he looked awful. A few have said they like the look. And I'm not totally convinced those are spikes. But it will look different soon...that I'm sure.
  3. You know what I think I love about Clay, more than anything else in the world? The curve balls he throws. He shocks die-hard fans, casual fans, and so many others in a thousand different ways *g*. Just when some complacency can set in with the die-hards, he changes his look once again. This orchestra tour, which I just know in my bones will be a fairly laid back event promoting ATDW, could be the rockin-est tour ever. I think he truly loves to mess with our heads, just for sport of it. Sure, could be considered cruel by some, but in other ways, it just makes me laugh. He's never boring, that's for sure. {{{{{{{{{CG}}}}}}}}}}} just because I'm guessing she needs it.
  4. And this is a problem? *g* Ya gotta remember, I do love me some goofy Clay....
  5. playbiller, that's definitely him from last night. The video clip shows him singing at the event, and that's where the picture came from (a screen cap).
  6. Yeah, that was the way I took it too -- that DF was probably asked to set the entertainment up for the soirée, and so he brought in Canada's favorite son via North Carolina. Just a random though -- could this be the "private concert" that some lucky bidder got early last September? Or maybe he's in Canada to soon give that private concert? Aw geez, I missed Jaymes sitting next to him. Twist my arm, gotta watch again.
  7. That's OK -- I actually LOL'd at your response! I think I'm with KarenEh? in that I'm getting tired of whiplash! And hell, I'm so easy that I still think he's damn adorable. counts the days until July 4 Hey, you know what? It's JUNE! That means there's only one more month before the tour. (And one more month to stress about the hair and the tour!!!!) Just a reminder: First FCA Chat this evening! 9:00 - 11:00 EDT. Topics: jmh, thank you for that blast from the past regarding Clay appearing with the Governator! I guess that's another one of those mythical "no-clack" shows, which is probably why I don't remember it. ETA: Karma can be very strange, can't it?
  8. cindilu2, I love your smilie -- so apropos! Yes, you are a queen. And then, the wallpaper! I love your calendar wallpapers -- they give me a nice change of pace at work with my computer there. jmh: Refresh my brain -- when was this? I'm an old fart and this doesn't ring a bell for me.
  9. Very cool news about Clay being in Vancouver! Actually, that news doesn't surprise me all that much -- isn't that where Jaymes is based? She very likely is helping him put the tour together. Can you just see Ahnold with a video camera taking clack for his kids? Or for Maria? Heh.
  10. White, for me anyway, equals "coffee stains" or "chili dog stains." Not good for me. I'm like CG -- the black makes me look skinnier. And I wear all my Clay shirts out in public (all 20,000 of them)! I generally don't wear them to the concerts -- but during my travels before and after! Love all the work you've put into this cindilu2 -- fantastic job!
  11. That's cool! What was the article about? It was just a general article about the book, and what he did by setting up that school. I pulled the article, maybe I'll try to scan it later this evening. I am so jealous of your concerts (well, maybe not so much Cool & the Gang)--lurve the Eagles. Enjoy!!!! :me0: LURVE me some Eagles too, and especially Don Henley. Got to see him in 1989 -- fantastic show. I find him to be another one of those "good guys" -- passionate for his causes, and a damn fine musician as well. Kool & the Gang? Celebrate, good times, c'mon!!! (Just not the Josh Gracin version...) And I do love the blue-eyed soul of Hall & Oates. I really think Clay could emulate them, if the recording conditions were correct and whoever is recording him at the time gives him the opportunity. He's got the soul, baby! ETA: :F_05BL17blowkiss: back at ya! And it's funny -- I'm trying to interlibrary loan a copy of this book (my library doesn't have it, and I'll work on changing that)...but almost every place it's checked out! Good sign, eh?
  12. Read "Kite Runner" and loved it! But then, he blogged about that book, if I remember correctly, and therefore it gave me an imperative to try that book. The one he was carrying in the airport, though -- eh. From the "reviews" I'm reading here, I may have to pass. "Three Cups of Tea" is still on my list though -- will probably have it read by summer (gotta finish rereading the Harry Potter books first!). Since I'm on the staff at my church, I just got a copy of the latest "Lutheran" magazine -- and lo and behold, there was the author of "Three Cups of Tea." I guess he's a Lutheran! Hee. Anyway, that's my reading list for the summer. Topic: wonder if Clay will have time to read while prepping for the tour? Or will he be a couch potato?
  13. Never Give Up! Never Surrender! God, I loved "Galaxy Quest," but then I'm a Star Trek geek too and could identify with the entire convention scene. 1) I think only Insider this time; no ET, but I could be wrong. 2) People magazine mention 3) New photo shoot 4) New program -- just looked at my old programs the other night. Made me a bit nostalgic actually, but it also really drove the point home about how he's changed his hair! 5) Even though I don't need them, I'll be buying at least one new T-shirt (not to mention the DCAT shirts from here)....
  14. Hee, you are making me want to turn on images here at work! I'd bet I could bounce a tooney off his butt..... This ignorant American had to look up what a tooney was....Thank God for Google. *g* artquest, I'll have to see if I have a high-res of that one at home tonight -- I think I might have just pulled that picture from a publicity website, which would mean I wouldn't. Does anyone else? And I think I know what you're thinking about doing...maybe. *g* Let's see...couchie is now smutting. Pretty soon she'll fall under that minion spell too...
  15. clayzorback, I too appreciate your clarification. For the most part I agree about your ideas that religion and politics aren't always the best topics of conversation in public -- it gets too uncomfortable too fast for me, and as a Christian, it sometimes hurts (just as I'm sure that things said hurt non-Christians too). However, I think Clay doesn't seem to be one to shy away from some issues, and his religion is important to him. Hence, his talk....and the resultant hurt from fans. Also, I think in a way that his talking about it at least attempts to get things out in the open, to start a dialog....which IMO fosters understanding. Once again, the key is respect -- if people don't even attempt to try and "hear" what is being said, all hope is lost. But there are pockets where it does happen. I know in my case I've heard many a viewpoint that is different from my own, and I now understand where they are coming from. In other words, I've grown as a person. Sometimes we have to keep trying to get to that point, and one of the ways of getting there is through discussion. {{{{{{{{{bottlecap}}}}}}}}}} Totally understand.... Um, I think it was requested that we post pretty pictures...
  16. Thing is, I've seen just as many, IMO, that are left wing non-Christians that are mothering, protecting, and fighting for him. I think Christianity has very little to do with this. IMO, it's more of an overinvestiture in Clay than anything else. JMO. But what is that really? "Mainstream" to you could be totally different than "mainstream" to me. And, in my experience as a person in the Midwest, "mainstream" frequently (not always) equals Christian. Again, JMO. Think I can use "MO" in this post any more? I'm in the middle of reading a book right now called "Religious Literacy." The author, Stephen Prothero, believes that there needs to be a basic understanding of ALL religious cultures, in order to understand this country. Both the right-wing and the left (and that includes me, even as a Christian *g*) must understand the basics of the Bible, the tenets of the Quran, Buddhist holy books, and so much more, to be able to discuss issues happening in this world today. It's a fascinating book, and I'm going to be following it up with some basic works on many of the big world religions. Anyway, this paragraph may be apropos of nothing, but the conversation keeps reminding me of it. This? I agree with. *waves at 00lsee*
  17. Actually, I HAD noticed...and I'll be thinking about you and your family. Keep us posted if you feel up to it, 'K?
  18. FCA Chat Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2, 9:00 - 11:00 EDT Come for one or both nights -- heck, come for only 5 minutes is that's all you can do with your busy schedule! Ansa, couchie and I have set up a tentative schedule for the two chats. Yes, there's a LOT of topics -- the plan is a "quick burst" approach, no more than 20 -30 minutes per topic (shorter if the conversation stalls). Therefore, here are the topics, so that anyone can formulate their posts ahead of time.... This thread is locked for now. It will open up again about an hour before the scheduled chat begins. If you have any questions, please let any of the admins know!
  19. ITA. As long as "choices" aren't forced down the throat (and I guess that wouldn't make them "choices, would it?), I'm pretty cool with it. Again, I respect that, and I mostly agree with it. However, I'm sure there's some money that has to be funneled into the church coffers. What they do with it is their choice, and it the money went to fund something that I fundamentally disagree with as well, I'd have to think long and hard about attending. IMO it should go to pay the electric bill, not to mention the cleaning of the chairs *g*, after the Clay show. But you're totally right that Clay just can't research every place he's played either, and your bringing up the casino shows is a very good point too. Some people are morally opposed to gambling, pure and simple, and attending those shows would cause them grief. Again, as long as they aren't shoving their morality down my throat, I'm cool. But in the end, I think muski has hit upon what I foresee as the main bugaboo for me in this: I get the feeling that most of the people who will be getting their panties in a bunch about this are people who probably wouldn't consider going to this show in the first place anyway, because of logistics. I am speculating on their part (bad idea, I know) that they feel this ONE show sets a precedent -- that there's going to be more shows at churches during this tour. We know this how? I'm just gonna say that I need some more information first before I start speculating where all his shows will take place this year. LOVE this, and I said something similar to this in an email this morning. While the location of this show might turn some of the fans away, it also might bring in different fans -- heh, like that younger demographic. Thing is, it's not my choice to decide what demographic he's going for. *shrug* In the meantime.... 20. cindilu2, I think one of the suggestions for that phrase (which is actually credited to bottlecap) was to put "I did Clay a thousand different ways, and gave him everything I had...." on the front, and then "...and I have the credit card bills to prove it!" on the back of the shirt. Does that help any?
  21. Thank you Gibby -- I think that's my take too. IMO, he's made great strides in this regard, because to me his major oversinging was with much of the early demos (not all). But, every once in a while (and again, not frequently), he does seem to slip into an old habit or two, for whatever reason. I liken it to what I've read about golf -- people start learning golf on their own, do pretty well but have some troubles, and then take lessons and figure out what they need to do to make things better. But, on an off day, they go back to what they did before. Clay doesn't do it often, IMO, but he does do it from time to time. I'd go: intern; assistant; A&R; manager; and president. couchie, that's a great idea for the levels!
  22. Cool pin design, and I can't wait to order more than a few! Also, I cannot wait order a t-shirt....or more than a few of those too! I'm so bad.
