  1. ITA -- because I love merrieee to death, and even though I have never met her (woohoo for Texas!), I'm positive she's a smart cookie. Not shallow either. As for Pollyanna...well, I fully admit to Pollyanna tendencies regarding Clay. I like thinking about Clay, usually about him and me and a bathtub. Sorry, I suppose that should be shower stall....heh. In other news... CBS Cancels "Jericho" I'm wondering if we'll get a blog from him very soon, due to this news? *g*
  2. Yep, no pictures of Clay's ass. Darn. But I'm cracking up over the karaoke thing too! He's so silly.
  3. For those who donated $50 to the UNICEF/Afghanistan campaign, be on the lookout for your email with the PDF report. I just got mine. Off to read!
  4. Can I be bottlecap when I grow up? PLEEEZE? And PLEEEZE on the programs, too. BWAH! *off to nominate the last line as a thread title* Welcome back KAndre! (Will that get a "yeah, that" from CG? *g*) Almost forgot -- Happy birthday Solo! Do you promise to not to drive over 100 MPH from Houston to Tulsa? *g*
  5. According to The Late Night TV Page, Clay's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel will be rerun on May 24. couchie, thank you for this, because it's how I feel too. I was bi-boardal since the beginning of this board, and had no problems going back and forth. But, little by little, I felt a bit shut out at my original board, mainly because it seemed so one-sided, with no chance for rebuttal. Frankly, it hurt for a time -- that place was my home, my original foray into the internet world of Clay Aiken. So, I decided to find a new home. Sure, I can see "mocking," but as luckiest1 said, it's mocking of a mind-set, IMO. I also remember quite well when the fans were pretty darn good at mocking themselves, and few took it personally. Somehow, that changed in the past year and a half or so. Again, that makes me sad. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy Clay. He makes me happy, even if he does do things from time to time that make me crazy (and not in a good way -- although making me crazy in a good way happens more often than not).
  6. I'm already starting the burn prayer candles every evening for the chance to get one of those mythical M&G's. I may even sacrifice my husband one night, to see if that helps. First of all, I've never been a popular kid, was always the last to be picked for things. I've learned to deal. We can sit in the back and eat all the Cheez Doodles YSRN. Secondly....your last paragraph? That's the feeling I get too. Double meh. I think many people, including ones on this board, can have pod-like tendencies regarding Clay. He's special to us, and thus, we truly want the best for him. It might be RCA; it might not. And I personally would say that some of the publicity didn't work for the best. I'd also say that some of it worked well. What gets me is simply the insistence, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, that RCA is simply out to ruin Clay. Triple meh. I really like muski's new siggy file -- you know, that one that keeps slipping into her posts for some darn reason. *g*
  7. couchie, split the first two letters away from the last three letters, and then see if it makes sense. Yeah, I understand the pin...but yet I don't get it either. You also ask a LOT of good question, one that I don't have answers for either. I think your best question is really "will any other record company GET Clay?" It seems to me that they may not -- record companies, when they get big and fat and profitable end up using formulas to create hits. That's what RCA was trying to do with ATDW, and I'd bet you bottom to a dollar that any other record company of RCA's size and scope would do the exact same thing. And smaller labels, as couchie suggests, could either take the KLo route (which makes me sad too), or else they could give the artistic freedom -- but maybe not the resources to do any sort of promotion. It's called show BUSINESS for a reason, folks. Deal with it. JMO. Almost forgot: Oh, like that one paparazzi picture from the other night? *g*
  8. Totally agree. TOTALLY. I think I'll go watch some clack now. :TourExcite: :TourExcite: :TourExcite: luckiest1, I see that great minds think alike, as we posted the same sentiment at about the same time. *g* I have my two tickets to my shows. All I need to do now is rearrange my flights -- being an idiot for booking a flight before having tickets in my hands. I may just cancel and start over, if I can without penalties.
  9. Totally agree. I think (and I may be putting words into your mouth here, let me know so you can slap me later) that the difference here is the word "wish." I wish the world for Clay as well. Do I expect it to be handed to him on a silver platter, though? Nope...but I get the feeling some do. Clay's a hard worker, and he's hella talented. He'll get there on his own terms. The other thing that I keep going back to when this topic comes up (way too frequently for my blood pressure *g*) is the time frame. I do believe that more and more success will happen for Clay -- IN TIME. He had a buttload of stuff happen to him in 2003 and the beginning of 2004, maybe too much for him to handle immediately. But, with time, he's gathered some experience in this stuff. Also, I want Clay around for a long time. He'll have some peaks with his career, but also some valleys. It's just the way of the world, really. There's no way for him to continually top himself, without some letdown. Why can't people see that? So, the videographer is in question again? *eyeroll* I saw that. Let's see, all the songs he wrote: LAA, LNM, and the Peanut song. Short concert. And people wonder why Clay Aiken fans get a bad name.
  10. Thread title. Please???? Oh God yes!! Karen Eh? - you are one funny lady - and insightful too! :bier: Ah -- forget thread title. I'm thinking this should be the new subtitle for the entire board! My head is tired of nodding from agreement today -- way too much to quote, and not enough time either. I'm glad I'm here.
  11. And next time you see me, you're allowed to do this to me if you want: *g* atinal, I wuv you. I certainly have dreams for Clay, and I know that just a few years ago, I wanted the moon and stars for him (along with that Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, the Cy Young Award, and the Nobel Peace Prize). But after a while...realism hits. OK, so I think he still could win the Nobel Peace Prize. *g* My point is that rather than hoping things will happen for Clay, I'm trying to make things happen for ME. My life is happy right now, and that's because I believe that a combination of God and me made that happen. Clay just enriched my life a bit. (I think he added Vitamin Ooooooo).
  12. I can also imagine Roger having a bitingly sarcastic sense of humor...just as I think Clay has as well. Know what I mean? He COULD have said exactly what has been reported, but without the whole context (including body language and tone of voice) I really can't judge. And even then, some people have a hard time discerning sarcasm. What I see here is just "cherry picking," in order to make Roger look bad, and justify personal feelings for RCA against Clay. JMO. I almost used that one last night as well, and said the same thing. WORD! If the fans condemn an album loud and long, to industry professionals, media, to friends and on the net, no one is going to want to buy it. Talk about negative buzz. Sheesh. Doesn't matter that they thought they were "helping". Pisses me off. :angry22: I honestly didn't experience this phenomenon of people writing things as what play put down...but then, I try to avoid things that just seem extremely odd to me. *g* IMO, it all boils down to this: Clay did not make the album that many fans wanted him to. When they finally got a chance to listen to the album, their feelings about what they thought was the process of getting this album made totally colored their feelings about the album itself. I keep going back to to Clay's blog from over a year ago -- "open your mind and prepare for something different." It seems that many worked on the last part of this statement, but the "open your mind" part just flew past. And yes, I know that many people don't like this album after listening to it -- that's their prerogative. I just get he feeling, though, that more than a few didn't even TRY to listen to it, or again, their feelings about the process clouded everything. I feel pity for those people, more than anything else. Oh come on, it's easy -- Clay needs our protection. Pure and simple. ONLY NOT. As much as I love Clay, I also know that he's a grown man who can make his own decisions and deal with the ramifications later. I cannot worry about him constantly, especially when it comes to his career. Amen, Sister couchie. I remember seeing at 60 Minutes piece on Norah a few months ago, so I looked her up. She actually has had 3 albums released. According to this website, all three of her albums have gone multi-platinum. Thing is, the first one broke incredibly huge -- 20 million. Therefore, when her third one sold ONLY double platinum, she was almost considered a failure. I think in this case, it's all about the perspective again. The fans search for EVERYTHING about Clay Aiken -- good, bad, or indifferent. I personally think you've got Clay pegged with this paragraph. LOVE IT. Totally agree with all of this. I'm still one to believe that TV helps him sell albums as much as anything. And as much as I love his voice, love having his albums, I also believe that many in this nation feel he is a TV personality first and foremost, because of where he came. I mean, really -- how many other recording artists get regular mentions in TV Guide? Clay sure does. Who knows where he wants to go? Exactly. I opened the CH and the first thing was a post calling Roger a bastard. I'm sorry, but to me, that's just wrong, based on hearsay. Same with all the posts calling Clive horrible names. I don't know either man, and I don't have any love for them, but I don't go around calling strangers "bastard". How anyone thinks that might possibly help Clay is beyond me. Even if they are both bastards in RL. I'm gonna use luckiest1 here as an example. (Please don't take it personally, I really don't mean it...) I meet her, and she says something that I don't particularly agree with. Does that give me the right to call her a b***h on a PUBLIC INTERNET BOARD? Yes, I'm a librarian, and free speech is near and dear to my heart....but gosh sakes, there's also things called TACT and RESPECT. It's fine to disagree with things, but I just don't see the point in name calling. I really don't think it makes people feel any better; in fact, I think it makes things worse frequently. Unfortunately, I think it's a society wide problem, this lack of respect that the internet has wrought, IMO. And I know I'm probably being very hypocritical here -- some may see as what I've just written as lack of respect to other fans. It's very circular, isn't it? All I know -- I love Clay. I'm just not his mother. Or his publicist. Or his gardener. I'm just a fan. muski -- :F_05BL17blowkiss: I needed that comment. Hee.
  13. I had never heard this bit of fiction information before. Has anyone else? I mean, it makes sense to me that an RCA/Clay's publicist would tell the fan on the street that one of his clients is "going down". Awwwww....how sweet! Good for you to give her something that it seems both parties like (and you as well). :Tour3: :TourExcite: :Tour3: EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm hoping this list holds up, just for WISYS and HYCA. And I still wonder if WY will be the encore....
  14. I'm back! For those who want to know...Mom is doing well. It's been over a year now since she fell, and she has settled into the nursing home quite well at this point. She's at the point where she can now get from her wheelchair to the bathroom and back by herself, and today she informed my husband and I that she can now get into bed from her wheelchair for a nap in the afternoon by herself as well. I think what makes me so happy about this is that she came up with both of these acomplishments on her own....no one "forcing" her to do this. CG, I spoke too soon about the kitties...they got me a card, saying that they were going to miss me today when I was gone. They are so sweet. (And yes, the kitties buy my husband a Father's Day card too...*g*) Regarding Kelly -- I pretty much agree with CG and play that there shouldn't be a "competition" between her and Clay. At the same time though -- the music business is all about the competition, and I think that's where the problem comes in: the lines really get blurred when people talk about "comparisons," and it turns into "competition." I personally bought both of Kelly's CD's, and I think I listened to them once each. *shrug* I don't always turn her off the radio though, I actually do like many of her songs. I just end up listening to other music more -- for example, today my husband and I listened to U2, Don Henley, Bruce Springsteen ("The Seeger Sessions" -- fantastic album) and Paul McCartney on our road trip to Mom's. Those 4 albums were agreeable to both my husband and I. Other days, my husband picks what he wants, I pick what I want (usually Clay *g*). Anyway....I think I lost my train of thought. Sowwy. muski, such a cute story. Off to watch "Celebrity Fit Club!"
  15. After sleeping on it...I downloaded all three pictures. Heh. I can't decide if I like the first one or the last one better. Everyone's right in the fact that the attitude just SHOWS in that first picture. He's so confident. But then, I love the flyaway hair picture as well. It's funny. I've noticed it too....but I guess I've never really questioned it. He said in LTS that he was always comfortable hanging out with women, because he was raised only by women. He seems to find women that he can trust, and once in place, they are with him for a while! Anyway, I've always taken that as a "just the way he is" kind of thing. BTW, anyone know what happened to Nick? It seems like I remember reading it somewhere, but I've forgotten. Happy Mother's Day! I'll be off to my Mom's very soon. And as far as I know, the cats didn't get me anything this year. Maybe a new stuffed mouse to put on my pillow.
  16. I think I read somewhere recently that Felix is staying with Taylor....someone who saw Taylor very recently asked Felix at that time. This was after the previous report of Felix going with Clay. I think I'm with you bottlecap on this one. I like how cute he looks, and I'm sure I"ll probably download as soon as I get back to my desktop computer (gotta watch Alton Brown on the Food Network, and the laptop is the best way to surf while watching....), but at the same time, I feel a bit squicky with these too. I don't know...I get so confuzzled with these moral controversies. That second picture? Dude...no need to show off, OK? Or are you worried about that comparison with the horse from the other night? He does look adorable though. And I think he must own 25 pairs of those docker type shorts! P.S.: Our Netflix movies for the weekend: "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" (very strange movie, but in a good way), and "Cars" (incredibly funny, lots of great sight gags, and a sweet story as well).
  17. Ha! Got you all beat! My husband and I walked with 20,000 of our closest friends in the Race for the Cure here in central Illinois. This area hosted one of the first RFTC's back in 1986, and it's still going strong today. It helped that we had a gorgeous day to walk -- 60 degrees or so in the morning, so it was a bit chilly, but a beautiful sunshiny day. And now, I just got finished planting impatiens in my flower bed. This week -- the vegetables get planted (I hope!) I agree! Maybe we need to come up with our own "color." Wait -- I know! Our own special "word." I nominate "spring." *g*
  18. I wondered if part of my thing was that I only bought 1 ticket. I was very surprised when it gave me the seat it did. I'm right on the aisle, which makes me happy, as I'll have extra leg room for my freakishly long legs. Clayzorback, as we get closer to the show, I'll be PMing you and trying to figure out how to meet you! :Tour3: :Tour3: :Tour3: :TourExcite: :TourExcite: :TourExcite:
  19. Man, this place turned into Smut Central in the past 24 hours. I like it. :F_05BL17blowkiss: I was at that show (Winston-Salem, NC) -- didn't get to see for real this particular shot, but I did get a similar one during the same show. I was in the third row, toward the side, and was in the same row as a lady who had signs for all the different songs he sang. He noticed her and was talking to her. At one point, he crouched, as if he was sitting on his haunches. Um, that was an image I'll NEVER forget. Mine too! Bolding mine. I'd even take that one step further -- CLAY is best enjoyed when he is not picked apart or analyzed. I know that some people like thoughtful discussions about his career and such. I do from time to time as well. But for the most part -- I want my fandom to be fun, and talking endlessly about his particular thought process behind each and every action he does simply wears me out. I'd much rather let the voice and the man just wash over me every time I see him. (Actually, I'd like for him to wash me -- shower time????) I think my favorite section of the interview is when Jimmy finally says, "I just noticed, you seem to be on a horse," and Clay does a doubletake look, as if he's just noticed it as well. Pure physical comedy -- and comedy gold, IMO. Love him. Love those high-res pictures. That one that CGposted the link to was simply stunning. EEEEEEEEE! Got a great seat for Tulsa! WOOHOO!!!!!
  20. WOOHOO!!! Section C center, 9 rows back, right on the aisle. Not directly in front of Clay, but that's OK with me. Um...anyone want to buy a ticket to Steve Winwood? When I was setting up my account this morning, I "practiced"...and bought a ticket. Oh well...well worth it, I suppose! Heh. Ebay, here I come....
  21. Thanks artquest. It's always fun to hear about the stuff we couldn't see. It did look at the end though that him and Aida were best of friends, suddenly. He's a charmer, that Clay Aiken guy. muski, I noticed that too. Amazing how I missed them, actually. Mary looks very pretty in the picture. Not shipping, not shipping, not shipping...but kinda curious, y'know?
  22. Something for Everyone -- New York Social Page Scroll down for complete article. Pictures!
  23. As expected.... AOL's Top 5 Moments on TV for May 10, 2007 Man, I'm paying for staying up too late this morning...terrible sleep. Between the headache and just being damn tired, I'm not getting anything done today! Between this: and Karen Eh?, I love you. Totally BWAH worthy! On description only, I just knew I was going to hate the purple/green combo. Upon seeing it...that was the most adorable color combination evah! (Gee, think maybe the guy wearing it had something to do with my feelings?) Hey artquest -- you were at the show last night, right? Thoughts? Comments? Check out my new avatar!
  24. Oh, am I glad I stayed til the very end! Him riding away in the night, waving -- simply priceless. Goodnight, sweet prince. Time for bed.
