  1. Yep. Between that and what it seems to me to be a focus on the fans (which doesn't get my panties in a bunch all that much), I'm guessing that there will be some good old fashioned angst after today's appearance. And yes, I'd bet on Cookie too.
  2. {{{{{{{{{{{{{play}}}}}}}}}}}}}, although it sounds as if VIP seating is so "VIP," IMO. What time does the show start for you guys? In other words, what time should I really be following the board? *g* I hope Clay does well today, although, again, damn it, why does he have to be coughing (if that blog report is true)? Is it the air in NYC that does him in? Stress? Allergies? If it is the latter -- dude, get allergy shots. They'll help somewhat.... As for the new and improved FCA -- well, shoot, I'd volunteer to help, but you probably don't want me. I'm one of those people that tends to start things and then fades out...such as my OCOCE rating (which I swear is ALMOST done....just need to find the time to whittle down 12 clips to 3). Right now, I'm just happy deleting spam-bot members from the message board (4 of them this morning....).
  3. to muski...sucky days really suck, don't they? play, I'd probably do it, but I'm not you. What is this VIP room? I don't totally understand.... But do what you think would be best, or the most exciting, or whatever.... Ansa, I'd suggest that we throw something like tomatoes. Unfortunately, they stain, but hey, why not. I cannot wait until this show tomorrow....I love his personality that comes out when he's on talk shows. He's so damn charming!
  4. Like this? Man, where is everybody? I guess it must be a work day for everyone. Or Clay needs to blog. *g*
  5. I love this time of year....for I read all your comments about the AI contestants, but have no clue what they sound like and such. Just don't watch now. IF I do decide to watch, it will be when they finally come up with the top 12, and even then I'll have to think about it real hard. KAndre mentioned DAUGHTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!11! in her post, and that reminded me. I received my Entertainment Weekly yesterday, and there's a 3 page article on him. I read through it, and man, I'm not impressed. He seems to be getting NO joy from what he's doing at all. Granted, this was through the eyes of the reporter and writer, but still -- doesn't crack a smile on stage, cancels a Q&A at a Children's Hospital, just a lot of stuff that made me feel like he seems totally ungrateful for everything that has happened. Wow. I think I'll follow his career....only not. Topic? I love that Clay smile, especially when he's on stage. I love that Clay seems to be incredibly grateful for most everything that has happened to him and for him in the past three years. And I look forward to seeing him tomorrow on my computer (I don't get Mike & Juliet around here....).
  6. Hee! At the Illinois State Fair, I almost made a sign that said "Dare you to stage dive, Clay!" In retrospect, I should have done it..... I really think this is the crux of the matter for me. Sure, it's great to wait for whatever next comes Clay's way...but how patiently? As couchie alluded to yesterday in her post, I'm not expecting a new, major CD release from Clay until at least early 2008. The recording industry just doesn't work that fast any more. So -- what can I do to pass the time? Well, I still listen to ATDW on a regular basis, and plan on supporting it as much as possible, simply by talking it up to people who show an interest in Clay. I've also been streaming the videos on a regular basis. I'm already planning for RHW to be the opening song for the concert. It has a great instrumental introduction, and I can just see Clay striding on stage to that music. I also wonder what song will be the encore -- LAA? (Just him and a piano?) BW? (Clay on stage, Erin prerecorded showing on the jumbotron?) I also think that ATD will be the song that has the transformation that he always seems to do at least once per tour. ISY was that song before, it really changed throughout the tours. ATD will be that song during this tour, I would bet. I will be looking forward to swooning over HYCA, with those low, low notes. (Hey -- let's make the chairs vibrate when he hits those notes!!!!! Hmmmm...maybe not....) And IFYDKMBN -- good God, that's gonna be good. I love it, that's fantastic! Made me LOL a LOT!
  7. There are some really great behind-the-scenes videos on the CBS Amazing Race: All-Stars site. Check out, under videos, the Pit Stop cams. I watched one with Mirna talking about being a newlywed; this one also gave a clue when the race took place, for it mentions "tomorrow is Thanksgiving." I think these pit-stop cams will be verrrrrry interesting when we get down to the final 5 teams or so.
  8. Hmmm....maybe I need to open a cookie thread....later today.... See, my oatmeal cookies, and the shortbread too, are Clay friendly. I love chocolate chip too, but I don't want the guy to have an upset tummy. Yeah, right....like I'll ever get to make him cookies. I wish.
  9. They don't necessarily make me antsy, but I'm always curious to know what is being done in real time....kinda. So I too will be looking forward to hearing the reviews. This sounds like it should be a lot of fun. I think he really enjoys doing these kinds of shows. And again, I think a show of this type plays off his personality so well, I believe he really sells some albums through appearances like this. (I could be totally wrong though....wouldn't be the first time, nor the last....) OMG, this is perfect. I volunteer to make the oatmeal cookies! KAndre, I also have a wonderful recipe for shortbread. And my oatmeal cookies are out of this world (NO RAISINS THOUGH! YUCKY POOHY ON RAISINS!)
  10. I'm in! I love mosh pits -- especially at Clay concerts. I'm not joking here either -- when I saw Clay at the Illinois State Fair during the NAT, the show was in the grandstand. However, they sold tickets on the track in front of the stage. I took a risk and bought two for me and my husband. It was a risk because that area wasn't covered -- if it had rained, it would have been a mess. Instead, it was a nice cool August night, the weather was perfect, and there was about 300 fans directly in front of the stage (no chairs around). Those in the grandstand were about a football field away from the stage. It was a great night, and a really fun show. I dearly hope that the FCA can have a get-together during at least one stop on the tour, and we can squee, shoot the shit about all kinds of topics, squee some more, eat, laugh, and enjoy Clay.
  11. I think that if I were not an internet connected fan, but found out that he'd gone gold with this album, I'd be pretty happy. But then, I'm also enough of an entertainment junky to know that his previous album had gone multi-platinum....and to know that there's what they call the "sophomore slump." Would it bug me? Nope. Most of my other thoughts on this topic mirror what Clagasm has so elegantly stated. I would have quoted you, but then I would have been quoting the entire gosh darn post. *g* I do think there's one thing though that wasn't mentioned -- radio play. I think in many fans eyes, for this album to have been a success, it would have had to have spawned songs that are being played constantly on the radio. Well, this conceivably could be happening with ATD, but confusingly (to me), that is being downplayed. And my thoughts on this subject harken back to discussions I've had on my previous board when the video for "The Way" came out. It was almost universally panned by the fans, and many questioned why they should support the video via TRL (RIP 2007) when they personally didn't like it. The answer that more than a few suggested was that it showed interest in Clay, and gave him ANOTHER chance to record, make videos etc. In my mind, I think people expected in 3 years that he wouldn't have to fight the battle to make another album. But you know what? Almost EVERY album made is made with the possible expectation that it will be the last album by that artist. Record companies have no problem dropping artists that don't sell to expectation (hello, Bo Bice). And, if a company does just that, many of the other companies see that as a vote of no confidence, and they aren't quite as willing to stand up and pick up that artist. So that's why I feel the need to keep supporting Clay -- I want him around for a while. I do my supporting pretty much as muski does -- I go to Yahoo and play the video; I go to the Chicago CC station, and play the video. I've tried to do the request thing, but when you live in podunk, it doesn't really work all that well.
  12. Man, it's too bad we just changed thread titles, because this would be really, really good. Thank you ladies for all the discussion about this yesterday. I keep learning from all you smart, smart women. And it's when we can agree to disagree that I think things turn out for the best, especially when there's seemingly respect on all sides of the discussion. I'm still watching the clip from Saturday night and grinning like a fool. I actually find it so much fun to watch the crowd in that clip -- the way people are simply enjoying the music, and also with a bit of "star struck" when they see Clay there. It doesn't seem overt, the way it would be at a Clay show, but with at least a few of the people, it's there. And he looked adorable, baggy jeans and all. And now, for the big news of the day: Happy Birthday bottlecap! :bday2: And just for you , since you love the little guy so much: :3:
  13. Your theory about them not wanting too many winners is probably correct. Plus, if they're gonna have a winning team in the show, they wanted the one that would have most "revenge" with them -- ie, Uchenna and Joyce, with the Romber on their heels. That was probably the season with the biggest drama for the ending, with two teams that most people liked. There have been other closer finishes, but the revenge aspect would have to be huge.
  14. Let's see if I can do this from memory: Rob and Amber -- the Romber Drew and Kevin -- the frat boys Oswald and Danny -- Team Cha Cha David and Mary -- Kentucky Charla and Mirna -- Mirna and Schmirna Bill and ? -- Team Guido The Beauty Queens (I don't think I ever knew their real names) Teri and Ian, John Vito and Jill, and .... shoot who? Don't have names. I also know I'm missing someone here. Loved it that Teri and Ian realized that everyone had "pet names."
  15. Yes, Heidi -- that's the guy from the same season with the Hippies (double love) who came in second. I really don't remember much of the girl, but she was eliminated fairly early. I'm gonna love Charla next week, I can tell that.
  16. Heidi, you can rent the first season of TAR on DVD. My husband and I did that. I hated Team Guido the first time around, but watching them again on DVD, they really weren't that bad. Pushy at a gate or two, more than anything else. Their really big mistake? They assumed about a bus leaving, didn't try to find alternative transportation, and ended up almost a day behind the first two teams. It was actually quite funny. Man, I could have sworn the frat boys would be toast tonight. I'm sad for John Vito and Jill.
  17. Oh, I agree with you on Charla. I just can't stand Mirna. And it looks like they may have screwed up big time. Yeah, Team Guido is pretty cool too. I'm actually very interested to see how they will interact with the Romber. The original backstabber team for TAR with the most famous ones. I also have a soft spot for Teri and Ian too. He can be a major crab, but for some reason I liked him.
  18. Oswald and Danny are Team Cha Cha -- the Latino gay guys. I'm sick of Mirna already. Shut up with the rapido, OK?
  19. OK, I like John Vito -- "I'm sick of Rob and Amber and I think America may be too." *g* Yeah, it looks as if the frat boys may be gone. OWWW. That's not good. Marriage softened him, I guess.
  20. Quick reaction: I want Team Cha Cha to win. Big time. Heh...Kentucky is screwing over the Beauty Queens. Heh. Yeah, I don't like Romber. He's nice now...just wait until later.....
