  1. So... O/T poll-ish question here...

    I made the mistake of telling one of my friends (the one featured in my signature, actually) that I had listened to the single of TITN 72 times, plus assorted other versions of it for a total of listening to TITN 94 times, which makes me wonder... Does anyone else have a Clay Aiken song that they just can't get sick of? (I might get sick of it though... she's proposing locking me in a car and making me listen to it all 94 times, which would be, like, four hours straight of TITN.) If you do, how many times have you listened to it?

    That's all. I just want reassurance that I'm not, y'know... nuts... :D

    ETA: You know... 94 is actually on the really low side since I listened to it on CD so many times before I got my iPod... :lol:

    When the single Solitaire first came out, I put 3 copies of it on a CD and listened to ONLY THAT in the car on my 1 hour commute to and from work. I also had another CD like it in my clock radio. I never counted how many times I listened to it, but I'd wager it's more than 94. :)

    WHAT?? I watch Tv/movies for 3 hours and I'm 6 pages behind!??!??! (and I'm not even finished watching "The Devil Wears Prada!")

  2. Thanks Caro! Now I understand what you are talking about!!

    As for my project - I did post it online, but when I got back, I was working on it and I got that nasty virus, and I just got my computer back and running late Friday afternoon. I've been busy catching up, and haven't had a chance to get back to it.

    The dates are complete, but I haven't added as many youtubes and photos as I planned to do!

    Check it out! 2008 YEAR IN REVIEW

  3. Good Morning, FCA! :BlowKiss:

    Farewell to SPAMALOT! It's been a great run -- even from afar! :clap:

    UPDATE: The golf balls are still coming into the Carolina blog. I think it's so cool that a whole new segment of the population is reading about Clay Aiken, Golfing for Inclusion, and The Bubel/Aiken Foundation. :)

    Have a great day, all! :lilredani:

    Caro listen.gif

    Caro - What what do you mean by "The golf balls are still coming" to your blog? Am I the only one in the dark. I went there and I can't figure it out! Sorry to be so dense!! :)

    FAREWELL TO SPAM

    Spam_Redux_CurtainCall5.jpg

    GOODBYE AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH

    I LOVE THIS, BOTTLE!!! :BlowKiss:

    I've got one more Spamalot in my future.... :clay:

    :hello: to duckyvee!

  4. cha cha, do you want the long answer or the short answer?

    Here's the short answer: That song does have a special meaning for me going back 39 years and 15 days. I was thereafter intrigued with it and wondered about it's meaning.

    You never give me your money

    You only give me your funny paper

    and in the middle of negotiations

    you break down

    I never give you my number

    I only give you my situation

    and in the middle of investigation

    I break down

    Out of college, money spent

    See no future, pay no rent

    All the money's gone, nowhere to go

    Any jobber got the sack

    Monday morning, turning back

    Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go

    But oh, that magic feeling, nowhere to go

    Oh, that magic feeling

    Nowhere to go

    Nowhere to go

    ah, ah, ah

    One sweet dream

    Pick up the bags and get in the limousine

    Soon we'll be away from here

    Step on the gas and wipe that tear away

    One sweet dream came true... today

    Came true... today

    Came true... today...yes it did now

    One two three four five six seven,

    All good children go to Heaven

    One two three four five six seven,

    All good children go to Heaven

    One two three four five six seven,

    All good children go to Heaven

    It has always had a special place in my heart even though the lyrics were just out of reach for me -- and not just me as I've participated in many a discussion around the theories of what this song means. Among the theories are that this is the last song the Beatles ever wrote and that each of them contributed a part with John doing the money part, Ringo the college part, Paul the sweet dream part, and George with everybody going to Heaven. Some see the song as Paul's FU to Allen Klein. Others as a love song to Linda. Whatever, but it's been discussed. And then there's the thrilling reprise with the guitar that breaks my heart in Carry That Weight (A Long Time). Then one fine day I was read Learning To Sing, while hearing this song in my head and humming. And then it fit what I had been reading. Clay growing up, getting out of college, at a crossroads, and then One Sweet Dream came true. Then this song finally had a meaning for me after all those years.

    For anyone who isn't familiar with You Never Give Me Your Money (from Abbey Road) here's a YouTube musicvid:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEukNvLOOcs

    and then there's that glorious reprise during Carry That Weight and following the guitar solo that weeps:

    I never give you my pillow

    I only send you my invitations

    And in the middle of the celebrations

    I break down.

    Boy, you're going to carry that weight, carry that weight a long time.

    That can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLTFJiN8o-A

    This stuff still chokes me up. If Clay ever sang it I would die on the spot. And I'd be ready to go.

    Hey! Now can I have the long answer?? Animated-biggrins.gif

    I always thought I knew the meaning of that song, but maybe I only thought I did because I was stoned at the time!

    I absolutely love that song and Abbey Road in general.

    Do you have a copy of "The Sessions Book"? I should go and look up that song. I'll get back to you on what it says. Thanks for 'splainin' :)

    Yep - it's late again... time for bed. :offtobed:

    eta: was it 39 years and 15 days since Abbey Road was released? :)

  5. keeping faith :

    what Beatles song is this from , those lyrics at the bottom of your post?

    "One sweet dream

    Pick up the bags and get in the limousine

    Soon we'll be away from here

    Step on the gas and wipe that tear away

    One sweet dream

    Came true today"

    I can hear Paul singing it in my mind but what's it from--is it from "Abbey Road"? album?

    I'm getting OLD...and I'm scared that my Beatles Fan Club membership may be revoked!!!

    Penny - I am wracking my brain to answer this question!! I should know it!! Is it "You Never Gave Me Your Money?" Yep - I think that was it!!! :)

    And now - the next question would be, "what significance does that quote have to you kf?" :D

    (It happens to be one of my faves as well.)

  6. So.... 5 pages of band audtions and nobody mentioned playing the loveliest instrument of all? :DoClay:

    New banner time - since we have new/old Clack of the beautimous ATDW songs, I thought it would be appropriate. Plus, he's HOT!

    I have two random questions. One, do we know how old Reed is? (sidebar: it's funny, every single mention of Jaymes in relation to Clay states her age like it was part of her name, Jaymes Foster-50, but none of the mentions of Reed do.) And two - in recaps of the last few weeks of Spam they say that Rick (as the French Taunter) says 'I throw my shoes at you', instead of 'I blow my nose at you' - and people were going crazy over it - is there a reason that it's so funny?

    Hey, I'm taking care of that instrument during my hourly massages. I got it covered.

    Isn't that one of the main rules of massage?? "Keep It Covered??" Animated-biggrins.gif

    verra niiiice banner cindilu!

  7. Maybe it's just me, but I never thought he was lip synching on the ATDW videos.......sure, they are overdubbed with the album track, and maybe he cuold hear it as he was singing so he was in time with it, but they look "live" to me. We just can't hear it. Does that make any sense? Oh well, perhaps not, it's early and I haven't had my chai yet. :cryingwlaughter:

    It's not just you........ but it does do funny things to me. I don't know if he trying to be sexy or if he's channeling some other personality, or if someone was there and he was showing off, or trying to make them laugh. But that set of videos just makes me squirm - in a good way!

    Plus we got one of the most flatterings screencaps from those sessions.

    claylookslikegeorge.jpg

    I love this one because he looks like George Harrison - one of my first loves!!

    and heinz -- lucky might have wanted you to play Mull of Kintyre because Paul McCartney wrote it, eh? - No??

  8. Can I join the FCA band?! I know how to play a few musical instruments, but I'd like to be Clay's bagpiper. Maybe we could convince him to wear a kilt.........

    Luckiest and her son were treated once to my piping and I didn't scare them away....as least I don't think I did ;)

    Hee, no, we were enthralled with your rendition of Mull Of Kintyre!!!! :)

    She played "Mull of Kintyre"?? That was my request to be walked down the aisle at my daughter's wedding in 02! That was before all the Clay Madness!

    --

    FC - if you got the shoelaces covered, maybe I could handle the bare feet? Like dusting and powdering and massaging? (plus a little washing maybe? Hey! Somebody's got to do it!)

  9. Likewise...not musical. I will volunteer to be his dresser and I'm sure I could learn over the course of the tour to dress him quickly.

    Dress?????....Party pooper.

    Congrats Annabear!

    Picture this..........Clay on stage, looking all cute, well dressed (about fifteen times), singing up a storm, ...and then the thundering of cowbells and triangles and melodious paper & comb. Then from stage left, out glides the Aikenators! (segClays?) the crowd goes crazy, the critics applaud wildly for the much admired (and v.v. attractive) precision all segway riding backup dance team!!!!!!!!!

    They twirl and glide while simultaneously making witty messageboard posts on the laptops strapped to the segway handles. Clay thrills all with the bestest glory note ever. Then he hurries off stage to "pay" his Aikenators and get changed- again about fifteen times.

    This backstage umm.... "activity" takes quite a while as you can imagine and a weary Clay emerges from the theatre as the sun rises and he dodges the kangaroos in the street...................

    Hey its my fantasy and of course all my fellow backup dancers can stay at my house. I will arrange the valet segway parking.....

    ETA: Bottle the bedazzling is mandatory.

    the Clegways??? :cryingwlaughter:

  10. My rider is short and sweet:

    a fully charged Segway to be at my disposal 24/7.

    SEGWAY!!! Thanks KAndre! I've been trying to think of that word for DAYS!!!

    Ever since someone was trying to describe one over the weekend using hand gestures!!

    ~~~~
    OK - I'll sing back up - I wanna be on the grinding side! I'll play a little tamborine with that. :pickme:
    "Hear the beat from the tambori-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ne" tm Mamma Mia
    (has anyone watched/played/sang the sing-along version from the DVD yet?)
    kim - hope you don't get stuck! :snowing2:
    wish I :golf:
  11. O.M.G... I FINALLY got caught up! Work and RL have been kicking my butt.
    KAndre... BWAH!!! Keep 'em coming!
    Aikim... congrats on getting your computer up and running!
    Those feeling ignored... I love you! As you can tell since it took me so long to catch up, I read every word!
    Can I pick June 1 for the summer tour, which is Memorial Day this year and which I find totally weird!
    Bottle... I love your tongue pics.
    Keeping... thanks for the Spamalot pics and the gorgeous SD pics! YUM!!! times 3759. :cryingwlaughter:
    muski... you are a brave woman! I salute you! And, good luck!
    Here's hoping things calm down enough to let me participate on this board, instead of catching up 13 pages in one night! Geesh!
    See? liney's got her finger on the pulse of this board and all it took was a few hours and 13 pages of reading!!!
    Thanks liney!! Those are all the things I wanted to say but got too bogged down with other things and didn't get around to it! (and I really do have a round tuit around here somewhere. It's made of cats pewter...)
    I spent the evening with chachadotters 3&4 and respective SIL's, which is about an hour away. So I decided to change it up and play ATDW for the drive. I cranked it up and sang along with every song. Surprising myself that I knew most of the words!!
    I LOVE THAT ALBUM!!!
    I would love for Clay to be working on another album - I love his particular IDIOM... I especially love Broken Wings and would LOVE to see that performed live... or on any show on TV, I'm not picky! Wouldn't it be great if he'd do a video of that song? That song just BEGS to have a video done of it, doesn't it???
    --
    OK - I thought it might be a good idea to make a list of possible things Clay could be working on for his next "gift to the public," so to speak.
    1. Tour
    Album
    Talk Show
    Movie
    --Spamalot movie
    Video
    DVD
    Broadway
    Gala
    Guest Appearance
    --maybe Kimmel for Valentine's?
    Another book
    OK, your turn! What else could he be working on???? :D
    --
    PS - merrieeee - I have lots of photos on my other computer. If you still need some tomorrow after it's back to normal, let me know!
  12. My first preference would be a band because someone said he couldn't do songs like LNM and BW with the orchestra and I'd really like to hear him sing them live. With that being said, if Clay can only tour using orchestras because of the economy, then I'll take the orchestras. Of course, he could sing to a recording or to Quiana and Angela humming in the background for all I care. I just want to hear him sing.
    I am wracking my brain to figure out what song LNM is!!!
    I'm with couchie - anywhere, anyhow, anytime!!! I'll be there!
    Kim - regarding your/our computer virus problems.... how did you get them sorted out?
    One thing that got messed up on mine was the TCP/IP got uninstalled.
    My guru couldn't make it over yesterday, and is coming tomorrow instead, and I know he'll fix it. I'm just curious how much damage was done to your computer. :)
  13. HERE'S TO NOT CARING!!!!
    to add my 2ยข to the makeup question....
    I agree that he probably has gotten his eyelashes darkened permanently from time to time. It does wear off eventually, and he probably procrastinates getting it redone. Don't we all?? Procrastinate that is. I actually did get my eyelashes dyed once and I loved it. I am one who does not like to go in public w/o at least eyeliner on. I have very pale lashes. :)
    There are pictures I like of him with his eyes dark and natural, and some I like and some I don't... I can't think of any clothes I haven't liked him in, but being a photographer, I have seen some poses and lighting I absolutely hated! But I've always thought "It's a bad picture" not "Clay is ugly" BECAUSE HE IS NOT!
    THIS is one of my favorite pictures (thanks for posting it!)
    wal2.jpg
    I also agree that some people feel invisible on message boards now and again. Even me. :)
    I read everyone's posts most of the time, I just don't comment on all of them. Sometimes I skim if I am really behind!
    RE: SPAMALOT -- out of curiousity I just checked the website for tix for tonight and the best 3 tickets were Mezz far left and far right and center Row K. So I guess the last few shows are also going to be almost sell-outs. So sad to see it go! Maybe there is a movie in the works? And maybe Clay will play Sir Robin? The cast list didn't mention the actor playing SR tonight. And the main page still has Clay's picture on it!
    Still waiting for my computer guru to call. I have a feeling he might not make it today. :(
    :hello: to wanda! :BlowKiss:
  14. NzY0OQy_large.jpg
    trying to post picture
    but it's not working :(
    tribeca -- I think the best way to post a picture is to right-click on it and save it to your hard drive, and then upload it to either a photobucket acct, or to a gallery here on FCA that you can create for yourself, by clicking the gallery button at the top of the page.
    Then in either format, you copy the posting code and paste it in the post window.
    I'm looking at the code from the red x picture above and it looks ok, so I am not really sure why it didn't work. When I use a picture from another website I usually right-click on it, and choose properties, and then copy the url in the properties box. Then post it with the %7Boption%7D code and it looks like you did that, so I am not sure why it didn't post. :)
  15. couchie - that's a gorgeous picture!! gorgeous kids - gorgeous setting!! Where was all that snow??
    Regarding Reed and his newfound popularity:
    He is a Broadway actor, and I think his attitude would be "the more publicity the better" - call me crass but I would think he would be welcoming of the added attention he has garnered by his association with Clay. It would be naive of us to think that our interest in anyone even remotely connected to Clay doesn't give that person, place or thing a leg-up in the Q-factor index.
    Case in point, the Broadway Cares auction. Another case in point, the bolstering of Spamalot in general. Interest in Hannah, Rick, Tom, Eric Idle, all things Monty Python, the list goes on.
    Back to Reed for a second, since he is a Broadway actor, he really doesn't know why you are recognising him, he just notices that you do. It really could be for any number of reasons.
    Well....... in the continuing saga of the Virus Remover 2008 and resulting mayhem, I have removed some of the damage by running the VRG virus scanner and SpyHunter programs. But it didn't undo all the problems. I was able to access them thru the Task Manager Browse function, since I have no taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
    --Then I tried accessing my home page and got a real shock! All the links were in RED and there was a notice at the top in RED saying, Your Computer is at risk, run a virus scan on whole computer. That was scary. So I am running another virus scan, and I called my computer guru and he can hopefully come over tomorrow afternoon. (For those of you who thought I was a computer guru - WRONG!!! This is way past my expertise!)
    Love all the pictures! I am staying away from sendspace and photobucket links for the time being tho, as I don't want to get the virus on my laptop!! Thanks for all the good wishes and advice. :BlowKiss:
  16. The New Adventures of Old Virus Remover 2008.......
    Well, Kim and everybody, I did get a real virus. After I closed the popup pages and boxes, I decided to run a virus scan.
    It froze up after finding two Trojans within the first 2 minutes, and wouldn't finish scanning the computer. I held the button in and rebooted. Now I have another problem! There is no tool bar at the bottom of the screen, and I can't get any response from the Windows button. I have no Start button and no icons.
    I am on the laptop now, about to look up which key to tap to get into safe mode and see if I can do anything there.
    Wish me luck!!
    Kim, last time this happened, I googled "Virus Remover 2008" and on one site it recommended I download a spyware remover called Spy Hunter. The scan is free, but you have to buy the program to remove the malware. It does work! Click here for more info.
    BTW - I just realized I can't finish my 2008 Review page until I fix this. (Unless I install 2 or 3 new programs on this laptop. I'm bummed!
    How can you get a virus from Sendspace? (or Photobucket, wherever it came from!)
    I'm bummed!!
    FIRST PAGE - WOOOO HOOOO!
  17. WARNING!
    I am in pop-up hell now since I clicked on that video that's posted on photobucket.
    (or maybe it was sendspace)
    It's that f**king "Virus Remover 2008" again.
    Someone posted that they got a virus from d/l'ing something yesterday. Kim?
    IT MAY NOT BE A VIRUS!
    If it says "Virus Remover 2008" on it it is a bogus virus scanner (i.e. it only SAYS it's a virus scanner) - what it really is, is a malware/spyware program - DO NOT DOWNLOAD the free scanner they are offering!
    I'll give you more information after I get rid of it!
    :hello:
    to all the FCAers I saw yesterday! "Sort-or-recap" coming soon.... :)
    eta:
    Martin Moran is going to reprise the Sir Robin role.
    I think he took over from Clay last spring, too.
    Actually I think Marty Moran is the guy who was Sir Robin before Clay. The guy who took over in May was from the touring company. :)
