  1. I'll give everyone 3 more minutes -- while I clean up the slight flood from my dishwasher. (Good news: tomorrow I get a new dishwasher, which I've wanted for a while!)
  2. Just quickly adding that I totally agree with couchie on the People article! It actually served two purposes -- it DID mention the album, but it talked about the gnats in an indirect way too. Only 2 minutes left -- want to go on with the next topic?
  3. Very cool Nicki! I've added you to the representing list!
  4. That's a VERY good question. Honestly, it probably was because of the gnats -- since so much of the publicity was about that instead of the album. Sad, but true. I agree Ansa that the timing of the album wasn't great, but I don't think it was bad either. It just didn't capitalize on the buzz of AI5. I remember people thinking it was sad that he didn't have any "product" after that appearance -- but ITA that Clay was doing things his way (thanks to Frank Sinatra. *g*) I also suspect that Clay knew that he wasn't going to be capitalizing on that appearance by doing the album on his terms, but it was a choice that he made. But that's a speculation on my part.
  5. But IMO playbiller, you have "opinions" -- which we all do. Facts? None of us fans should have them. But the sharing of opinions is very cool, as long as respect is there. As for the topic: I really think that the TV appearances served Clay well, although the sound mixing on a few of those WY's left a lot to be desired. I'm one that thinks he sells records just by being his charming self. More later.... OK, I'm back. *g* I think the main thing that really hurt is the lack of a innovative single -- IMO, if they had released HYCA first, I think some people who don't normally like Clay Aiken would have had their interest piqued. (But then, I love HYCA...) I also do wish he would have done a stint on SNL. Might have given Clay some "street cred." *g*
  6. Question 1: 1) ATDW and the PR campaign -- what worked? What didn't? What else could have been done?
  7. CG, the hair discussion is tomorrow! And again, your sacrifice in posting that picture just for me is duly noted. :F_05BL17blowkiss: Hope the thunderboomers don't get too bad. Hate it when that happens -- thought it might be happening to me too, but the storms passed early. Chat in less than 3 minutes! ETA: Chat is open here!!!!
  8. Thread is now open....chat begins in 15 minutes!
  9. You rang? :F_05BL17blowkiss: Of course, I saved all 4 pictures! When you simply love Clay in all incarnations.... BTW, I'd like to thank bottlecap, because I'm thinking she probably sacrificed her lunch when she posted the high-res goofy picture. Heh. Love you! Good for the BAF!!!!!!! YAY Clay and all involved! Kids, though -- sorry, not for me. Even though he's made my ovaries explode on more than a few occasions...heh. Chat starting in just a few minutes!
  10. Hey Caro! (Love the nickname, BTW...) Chat???? FCA Chat -- tonight! 9:00 - 11:00 EDT!!!! Also will be the same time on Saturday evening! Location is HERE!!! Topics for tonight: This will be "short burst" chat -- no more than 20-30 minutes on each topic. Looking forward to it!
  11. Yeah, I like that idea....THUD! That's not what Clay's hair in these pics tell me. ETA: CG -- the thing is, not everyone thinks he looked awful. A few have said they like the look. And I'm not totally convinced those are spikes. But it will look different soon...that I'm sure.
  12. You know what I think I love about Clay, more than anything else in the world? The curve balls he throws. He shocks die-hard fans, casual fans, and so many others in a thousand different ways *g*. Just when some complacency can set in with the die-hards, he changes his look once again. This orchestra tour, which I just know in my bones will be a fairly laid back event promoting ATDW, could be the rockin-est tour ever. I think he truly loves to mess with our heads, just for sport of it. Sure, could be considered cruel by some, but in other ways, it just makes me laugh. He's never boring, that's for sure. {{{{{{{{{CG}}}}}}}}}}} just because I'm guessing she needs it.
  13. And this is a problem? *g* Ya gotta remember, I do love me some goofy Clay....
  14. playbiller, that's definitely him from last night. The video clip shows him singing at the event, and that's where the picture came from (a screen cap).
  15. Yeah, that was the way I took it too -- that DF was probably asked to set the entertainment up for the soirée, and so he brought in Canada's favorite son via North Carolina. Just a random though -- could this be the "private concert" that some lucky bidder got early last September? Or maybe he's in Canada to soon give that private concert? Aw geez, I missed Jaymes sitting next to him. Twist my arm, gotta watch again.
  16. That's OK -- I actually LOL'd at your response! I think I'm with KarenEh? in that I'm getting tired of whiplash! And hell, I'm so easy that I still think he's damn adorable. counts the days until July 4 Hey, you know what? It's JUNE! That means there's only one more month before the tour. (And one more month to stress about the hair and the tour!!!!) Just a reminder: First FCA Chat this evening! 9:00 - 11:00 EDT. Topics: jmh, thank you for that blast from the past regarding Clay appearing with the Governator! I guess that's another one of those mythical "no-clack" shows, which is probably why I don't remember it. ETA: Karma can be very strange, can't it?
  17. cindilu2, I love your smilie -- so apropos! Yes, you are a queen. And then, the wallpaper! I love your calendar wallpapers -- they give me a nice change of pace at work with my computer there. jmh: Refresh my brain -- when was this? I'm an old fart and this doesn't ring a bell for me.
  18. Very cool news about Clay being in Vancouver! Actually, that news doesn't surprise me all that much -- isn't that where Jaymes is based? She very likely is helping him put the tour together. Can you just see Ahnold with a video camera taking clack for his kids? Or for Maria? Heh.
  19. White, for me anyway, equals "coffee stains" or "chili dog stains." Not good for me. I'm like CG -- the black makes me look skinnier. And I wear all my Clay shirts out in public (all 20,000 of them)! I generally don't wear them to the concerts -- but during my travels before and after! Love all the work you've put into this cindilu2 -- fantastic job!
  20. That's cool! What was the article about? It was just a general article about the book, and what he did by setting up that school. I pulled the article, maybe I'll try to scan it later this evening. I am so jealous of your concerts (well, maybe not so much Cool & the Gang)--lurve the Eagles. Enjoy!!!! :me0: LURVE me some Eagles too, and especially Don Henley. Got to see him in 1989 -- fantastic show. I find him to be another one of those "good guys" -- passionate for his causes, and a damn fine musician as well. Kool & the Gang? Celebrate, good times, c'mon!!! (Just not the Josh Gracin version...) And I do love the blue-eyed soul of Hall & Oates. I really think Clay could emulate them, if the recording conditions were correct and whoever is recording him at the time gives him the opportunity. He's got the soul, baby! ETA: :F_05BL17blowkiss: back at ya! And it's funny -- I'm trying to interlibrary loan a copy of this book (my library doesn't have it, and I'll work on changing that)...but almost every place it's checked out! Good sign, eh?
  21. Read "Kite Runner" and loved it! But then, he blogged about that book, if I remember correctly, and therefore it gave me an imperative to try that book. The one he was carrying in the airport, though -- eh. From the "reviews" I'm reading here, I may have to pass. "Three Cups of Tea" is still on my list though -- will probably have it read by summer (gotta finish rereading the Harry Potter books first!). Since I'm on the staff at my church, I just got a copy of the latest "Lutheran" magazine -- and lo and behold, there was the author of "Three Cups of Tea." I guess he's a Lutheran! Hee. Anyway, that's my reading list for the summer. Topic: wonder if Clay will have time to read while prepping for the tour? Or will he be a couch potato?
  22. Never Give Up! Never Surrender! God, I loved "Galaxy Quest," but then I'm a Star Trek geek too and could identify with the entire convention scene. 1) I think only Insider this time; no ET, but I could be wrong. 2) People magazine mention 3) New photo shoot 4) New program -- just looked at my old programs the other night. Made me a bit nostalgic actually, but it also really drove the point home about how he's changed his hair! 5) Even though I don't need them, I'll be buying at least one new T-shirt (not to mention the DCAT shirts from here)....
  23. Hee, you are making me want to turn on images here at work! I'd bet I could bounce a tooney off his butt..... This ignorant American had to look up what a tooney was....Thank God for Google. *g* artquest, I'll have to see if I have a high-res of that one at home tonight -- I think I might have just pulled that picture from a publicity website, which would mean I wouldn't. Does anyone else? And I think I know what you're thinking about doing...maybe. *g* Let's see...couchie is now smutting. Pretty soon she'll fall under that minion spell too...
  24. clayzorback, I too appreciate your clarification. For the most part I agree about your ideas that religion and politics aren't always the best topics of conversation in public -- it gets too uncomfortable too fast for me, and as a Christian, it sometimes hurts (just as I'm sure that things said hurt non-Christians too). However, I think Clay doesn't seem to be one to shy away from some issues, and his religion is important to him. Hence, his talk....and the resultant hurt from fans. Also, I think in a way that his talking about it at least attempts to get things out in the open, to start a dialog....which IMO fosters understanding. Once again, the key is respect -- if people don't even attempt to try and "hear" what is being said, all hope is lost. But there are pockets where it does happen. I know in my case I've heard many a viewpoint that is different from my own, and I now understand where they are coming from. In other words, I've grown as a person. Sometimes we have to keep trying to get to that point, and one of the ways of getting there is through discussion. {{{{{{{{{bottlecap}}}}}}}}}} Totally understand.... Um, I think it was requested that we post pretty pictures...
