  1. Muski you must be made of the tough stuff! I always thought I was tough but I resembled Phylllis Diller for many, many days ( months): The hat made it all work, cindilu! On the hospital stay topic, did you all really leave that quickly? I remember that my first was born on the 23rd and went home on the 27th, and just about the same number of days (3-4) for the other two. (I can just hear Solo saying, why am I not surprised?) Scarlett sounds like you just took sensible precautions not that I would have stayed anything like oh...eight days ....or anything..... Yes Jmh you do need a bloody great big incision! Even when you are a sane (shut up) reasonably intelligent (again shut up) woman it is still a shock to the system. Here in Oz I had a follow up check after four weeks . It is hard to get the rest needed, I always say that its the only major surgery that you don't get a recovery time from- within the day you are up trying to find the user manual for this brand new person . Yeah that whole "nursing helps you lose the weight" myth..... I lived in maternity pants for a very long time. And I dont like your sister........ Liney I am so hearing you! My last Caeser was only ten years ago but I had eight full days in with both kids. I neeeeeded it! My doctor told me that it is not uncommon to have some pain up to 12 months later. People used to try and tell me how I "did it the easy way" by having the caeser and I could have throttled them, still could. It is after all Major surgery. so we're talkin' birth stories now? well arriight...... in a nutshell..... first set of twins: found out 10 days before birth that they were twins, water broke at 4 am 3 days before due date, at the hospital by 4:15, no progress, was induced around 10 am, babies born both by 2 pm. birth weight: 5lb14oz each. 2 (3?) day stay in hospital. second set of twins: found out at 6 mos after doctor said "no twins, that other heartbeat is an echo," went a week past due date, went to hosp after a day of labor abt midnight, normal labor, megadose of drugs, had to be delivered with foreceps, born by 4am. birth weight: 7lb7oz & 6lb2oz. I thought I could stay a day longer, but they kicked me out the next afternoon! but no c-sections, no complications, I know the full meaning of bundles of joy! I think I was lucky that I escaped lots of possible complications. :F_05BL17blowkiss: ChaCha you are indeed an amazon woman! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  2. Kim :F_05BL17blowkiss: I have spent ages reading and hit he "quote" button on many posts today but really Anna this says it all
  3. Playbiller said: This cracked me up PLay! :lmaosmiley-1: It reminded me of the time my SIL and I were taking 4yo nephew out in my car and he was throwing a massive tantrum in the back seat about not renting a new video ( he hadn't watched the ones he already had). SIL and I just looked at each other and both launched into our own screaming match. " I wanted a groooown uuups video!!!!" "I want peeeaaace aaaand quiet!!!" He just stopped and looked at us ,shocked and quiet. We still laugh about this 14 yrs later! {{{Kim}}} It sounds like you have the right attitude, not making a fuss. And you will be an old hand when your other daughters get married. Maybe make sure bridal shower is held on your home turf?
  4. {{{Perma}}} and btw WORD to your post :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  5. Word to that Wanda! I think this adds to what Couchie said about not knowing what a "normal" family looks like these days. Someone else mentioned that they thought it meant that Clay and Jaymes planned to be a family for a long time and I think this is right too, because once that child is here you are forever linked. ETA I have just started a new topic "Olympics" in the sports thread.

    Olympics

Cotton, I must confess that since Australias outfit was a surprise I sure did have my fingers crossed!!! Turns out it wasn't as bad as it could have been!

    Olympics

I had to stay up until about 2am here to see the torch lit. Its funny but I wouldn't call myself a big sports fan. The Olympics get to me though, the spirit, the atmosphere. The fact that someone always triumphs over the odds to get there and have a go brings a lump to my throat.
  8. I don't think you're crazy, but I agree you should make every effort to test this. Just in the interests of scientific and statistical accuracy ,of course......
  9. Does anyone want an "Olympics" thread? No , I'm not referring to the 100m diaper dash!!
  10. Congratulations Clay and Jaymes!!! I got up bleary -eyed after a few hours sleep, having stayed up 'til 2am to watch the Olympics opening ceremony, but Im wiiide awake now!! I love that he (with Fayes help) gave the scoop to Linda. It gives them control of it you know? And I hope a picture is released the same way, on their terms, while the bub is young so that as his features change he won't be recognized unless they choose to (hopefully)! Also the family angle, the names, Grandma making the announcement and the blog from the proud Daddy makes me a little teary ........ I noticed that Kf- makes me think they are now going for a more positive spin (as if there even could be any bad thing about a loved and wanted baby being born to sane, stable, happy parents! WORD Wanda Pass the tissues...
  11. Tank Tops.... Tank Shirts...... We call 'em singlets..........
  12. Word! Cotton. These sorts of things would let him stretch his acting wings yet not tie him up for too long. I could see him as a bad guy- he has that laser beam stare which could be scary if you thought he was angry and sometimes the scariest characters are the ones that look the most harmless- it builds the suspense. Think Steve Buscemi in Con Air (?) Just read this and then read the (possible) tank top post.....OK Kf fess up!!!..... you know him dontcha or you live next door!!! When I got home today my kids turned on the TV and there was "Dog the Bounty Hunter.......umm if Clay is growing his hair and working out lets hope he doesn't go toooo far..........
  13. Loved this one Claytonic!! - although I think that some of us late bloomers reached this stage at 40!!
  14. That would be wonderful! Either that or recording a song for a Disney soundtrack! Wooooeeeee. Sounds good to me! Or maybe getting ready to star in the big screen version of some musical! I mean, if we're going to dream, let's dream big! I know with Clay, dreams and big sort of go hand in hand...... **Sniff** I have the news on here. The station I watch sponsors Musikfest (which I always think is Muskifest!) and they just did a bit on it. I miss Clay performing at Musikfest (or anywhere...). **Sniff** This was followed by a commercial for Spamalot, coming to Philadelphia. I miss Clay being Sir Robin in Spamalot. Its not that I don't have a life, its just that these Clay things are so much damn fun! Which movie musical would anyone love to see him in? Rocky Horror springs to mind! I'm trying to think of a more likely one but my mind seems to be stuck.........
  15. I'm not saying that he should kiss the medias you know whats (just doesn't sound like our guy anyway), just that IINT then it should be handled carefully, so as not to rub their faces in it tooo much especially People, the insider etc who have given him some good coverage along with the slightly not so good. I am sure that TC would have some plan for this. IINT I think its OK for us to enjoy the Karma but I think that publicly it's best for there to be no mention or, since I can't see interviewers leaving this alone, some kind of light-hearted "where do y'all get your information? Still haven't got that fact checker eh?" Or some such thing. Its still saying the same thing but allowing them to save face a bit. Even if some don't deserve it. I had a situation at work recently where I did my audit , found some ongoing errors, and took it to the mgr. I pointed out the errors and she looked me in the eye and said she had never been told this was wrong. I stated that I myself had told her and that she needed to get her staff on board with this or they might fail their official review. A few days later she sent me an email saying the same thing and that she had spoken to the reviewer who agreed with her that she was doing the right thing. I replied (and CCd my boss in) that she should refer to my written audit from FEB and that she might be mistaken as to it's meaning. Reading between the lines, I told her she was a backstabbing, blame shifting bitch who was trying to steamroller me into accepting blame for her errors . The official reviewer also backed me up in an email.Good to get it in writing. My point is that I have to work with this woman and, while I wont be walked all over, I can't declare war either. We can enjoy the na na nana nas between ourselves but I don't think that Clay (even with his titaniums) can really do this in public. Except in a light hearted way, not too much in a showing up way. Whew! long winded post, hope this clarifies my meaning, and that we basically agree what goes around comes around and its a good thing too.
  16. I agree this would be great, to show them up for their unprofessional and lazy reporting, but not a good plan for a man whose business relies on ( or at least goes better with) the medias cooperation and attention. ETA: fix quote tags( or delete them altogether) a constant challenge to tech challenged posters!!
  17. The Sensitive Man. A woman meets a man in a bar. They talk; they connect; they end up leaving together. They get back to his place, and as he shows her around his apartment. She notices that one wall of his bedroom is completely filled with soft, sweet, cuddly teddy bears. There are three shelves in the bedroom, with hundreds and hundreds of cute, cuddly teddy bears carefully placed in rows, covering the entire wall! It was obvious that he had taken quite some time to lovingly arrange them and she was immediately touched by the amount of thought he had put into organizing the display. There were small bears all along the bottom shelf, medium-sized bears covering the length of the middle shelf, and huge, enormous bears running all the way along the top shelf. She found it strange for an obviously masculine guy to have such a large collection of Teddy Bears, She is quite impressed by his sensitive side. but doesn't mention this to him. They share a bottle of wine and continue talking and, after awhile, she finds herself thinking, 'Oh my God! Maybe, this guy could be the one! Maybe he could be the future father of my children?' She turns to him and kisses him lightly on the lips He responds warmly. They continue to kiss, the passion builds, and he romantically lifts her in his arms and carries her into his bedroom where they rip off each other's clothes and make hot, steamy love. She is so overwhelmed that she responds with more passion, more creativity, more heat than she has ever known. After an intense, explosive night of raw passion with this sensitive guy, they are lying there together in the afterglow. The woman rolls over, gently strokes his chest and asks coyly, 'Well, how was it?' The guy gently smiles at her, strokes her cheek, looks deeply into her eyes, and says: 'Help yourself to any prize from the middle shelf'
  18. Kandre I am so looking forward to seeing Mamma Mia- mainly for Colin Firth! Last night we went to see "Dont mess with the Zohan". Friends invited us to help celebrate her 12yo sons birthday. Well theres two hours i'll never get back! The kids (mine 10 & 13 and hers 8 & 12) certainly got some education! We were just shaking our heads throughout. I need a haircut but will put it off for a couple of weeks.
  19. :00003653: Annabear I shall patrol the hallways Chardonnay!!!! {{{ Muskifest}}} just cos... Well its Saturday morning here. DH has just volunteered to Umpire a baseball game and then he plays right after so that gets him away for the whole day (yet again) And tomorrow he will be at some kind of sign on for the juniors, so thats him booked up for the whole weekend (yet again) What should the kids and I do? Maybe a walk? or shopping in some centre I don't usually go to? Or find some flea or craft market to wander round? Maybe visit the scrapbooking store? I haven't put my USA photos in albums yet so that might spur me on. Clay content? All this fun old clack makes me want fun new clack!

  22. We all need friends like these! :F_05BL17blowkiss: True Friendship None of that Sissy Crap Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card. Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship. 1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the fu*king bastard who made you sad. 2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you. 3. When you smile -- I will know you got laid. 4. When you are scared -- I will take the piss out of you about it, every chance I get. 5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whinging. 6. When you are confused -- I will use little words. 7. When you are sick -- Stay away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have. 8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass. 9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask; 'Because you are my friend'. Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth. Send this to 10 of your closest friends. Then get depressed because you can only think of 4.
  23. {{{{Muski}}}} I was wondering where you'd got to.
