  1. Oh I would KILL to see him there - but can you imagine what it would be like to get tickets for him there?? Now THAT would be a bloodbath! That new/very old picture was in last weekends Playbill, but not the new bio. I guess they figure since his hair looks the same now as it did then, they may as well recycle some of the old pics. Understandable with the bad economy and all...... How do you get these colors to work? I really have no clue!
  2. Lawd Jesus, yes! :Kolobok_Laie_haha: And at my board at the time there was a thread started for the sole purpose of PROVING that the picture was fake! photoshopped! a conspiracy! I'm talking people showing parts of Clay pics where his hands were in that same position, and then explaining how THOSE Clay hands had been photoshopped on her boobs, but that in the pose, Clay's REAL hands were behind him or something... CMSU! :Kolobok_Laie_haha: OMG! I remember that!! It was hysterical how obsessed some were at proving that sweet, pure, virginal, Christian Clay would NEVER have but his large, gorgeous hands on some woman's breasts! Hah! Wonder what they're saying now!! So... Am I the only one who thinks it looks like Clay is coming in to give Tom a great big fat kiss??? They would make a kind of cute couple....... (I kind of miss the constant shipping!) OH great. I haven't even left work and he blogs???? Ok, well, since I am not going to be home for several more hours, I guess I can read it here. I am alone in my office right now, so who would know! ETA: So my color is Apricot Ice?? Says I am independent, feisty and tenacious??? Me??? I see Clay's said he is a natural writer. Maybe now he will write another song!
  3. Well geez! My train was late and then I had a book to catch up on here! I still haven't had time to read the blog!!! Give me a chance! What can I say. Clay is still unbelievably CUTE!!! But as muski told you, the show felt different. Its still very funny but the energy was very off. I didn't like the new king at all. He didn't enunciate and there was no affection between him and Patsy. When Jonathan said that Patsy was family, he said it with affection and you believed him. This guy said it in an almost dismissive manner. There was a warmth and kindness to Jonathan's king that seemed to work so well. Not with this guy. The new Lady was good. Very pretty, lovely voice, not as big as Hannah (in many ways...). Her Lady was not as over-the-top as Hannah's and I always thought Hannah's was too over-the-top, but that is strictly a personal preference. The crowd was very much a NJU crowd. The orchestra was almost full, the mezzanine from what I could see was about 2/3 full and there were some people in the balcony but I couldn't really see how many. And this was on a Saturday night. One interesting thing. We were in row B dead center. In the first row from the aisle inward were a few Clay fans I have seen there many, many times before. I know the names of some but will not mention them here. Jerome came out before the show and sat himself on the stage to talk to them. We couldn't hear everything he had to say but he was telling them to not yell as much, to tone it down some in their reaction to Clay, that it was distracting to Clay and the other cast members! Now I have no clue what they had been doing or when, but obviously their behavior was not something that was appreciated! I had to wonder what the NJUs sitting behind them must have been thinking! The crowd seem appreciative and seemed to enjoy themselves. There were lots of laughs but Clay got no more than anyone else. YWSOB was well received but nothing special. And for the very first time in the 10 shows I have now seen, I heard the entire "Idol of my age" bit! I did hear one guy in my row sort of laugh at that, but otherwise it received no reaction. He did sing the "Amen" but it was different, and the other knights all looked at each other like they were thinking "How are we going to do that??". The whole show seemed almost rushed. It just had a whole different feel to it. Still very funny, but you know that old saying "You can't go home again"? Well, the magic that was there during round one just wasn't there this time. It had NOTHING to do with Clay, his revelation or anything else regarding him. It was just the show as a whole. I think round one was a very special cast that had just the right chemistry. Without Hannah and Jonathan (and to me, mainly Jonathan) the same chemistry just wasn't there. Oh, and no standing ovations. A few stood up for the singing at the end but definitely no standing O for Clay or anyone else. There were half price tickets available for the Sunday matinee today and neither my lurker friend or I had any desire to see it again so soon. I am not sure that would have been the case the first time round. At the stage door there were maybe 50 people and as muski told you, more men than were ever there he first time! We were kind of boxed in where we were sitting so by the time we got out we were about 4 people back. No chance for a touch or a picture. But he did take his time signing and chatting and stopping for a picture. SO different than the last time! The stage door crowd also seemed much calmer so I think there may have been quite a few NJU there. What was interesting to me was Tom Deckman, David Hibbard and the new Lady all came out after Clay to sign and stop for pictures. During the times I was there before that never happened and I always thought that was because the crowds were unruly and so Clay-centric. Even the stage door had a different feel to it. But in a way, that was a good feel. It felt normal. Like Clay was a normal star on Broadway with relatively normal fans! I still love this play and I love Clay in it and I adore David Hibbard and am glad he is back and I am glad Rick Holmes and Tom Deckman are still there. But I miss the magic of the first go round. And I am worried about the attendance. I am not sure Clay being in it is having that much of an impact - certainly not like the last time. I get why, but I just hope the producers don't think it has anything to do with his coming out. All in all, it was a good time. Always good to see Clay. And was I ever glad he was wearing a hoodie instead of one of those fugly shirts or sweaters he's been in seen in lately!! Now, before I go read his blog, I have to take issue with all the "Touch" hate going on here!!! I LOVE THAT SONG!!!! And if Clay wanted to sing it and felt uncomfortable with the feminine pronoun (which I personally doubt) he could easily change the words a bit. He's done it before - sometimes even intentionally! :Kolobok_Laie_haha: I just think he either didn't like it or won't sing it out of plain stubbornness! Off to read the blog then see if I have anything clean to wear to work tomorrow. I don't want to go to work tomorrow! Oh, and one more thing........ WOO HOO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Speaking of penises, although not necessarily fleeting ones........ Welcome clayzycoffin!
  5. There's an FCA MAIN? Yeah that!! So..... I can get a NYC Fox station on my satellite so I was watching it for the weather. They did a bit on how the Broadway theaters turned off their marquis lights for a minute in honor of Paul Newman and the theater they showed was the Shubert! And there was Clay's name on the marquis as big as life! Of all the theaters in NY and they picked that one!! AndI will be outside that stage door this time tomorrow!! :00000442: Cannot wait!! I wonder what fugly clothes he'll have on then???? And I am taking my camera, although I still don't know if I drag it the theater.
  6. Political debate?? Not for me! I was watching baseball!!! YOU GO PHILLIES!!! Not that they couldn't lose the next 3 games and blow the whole thing. This is Philadelphia, after all... ETA: I want to hold the BIG baby - the one with those awful glasses that I would just rip right off him!!!
  7. Not only the outfit, but look at the hair! Its like he stuck his finger in a light socket! How can anyone dress so oddly and have hair that is so comical and still be so cute???? Hmmm. Seems he is letting people take their picture with him at the stage door this time.... Wonders if she can get an appointment to get her color done and her hair trimmed and lose 20 pounds by Saturday....
  8. Has this been posted? From CV via CH: Wise words for everyone. I wonder if Clay confided in her awhile ago and if she offered him any advise.....
  9. JMO and I know it doesn't mean diddly, but, my theory on those who are off the deep end........... IGNORE!!! I swear people like that WANT to get in arguments, want someone to tell how right they are. They don't care that much about preaching to the choir. If no one went over there and engaged them in a "discussion" then I believe they would talk themselves out. I know it won't happen, but if everyone just ignored them, didn't post defending Clay or mom or apple pie or whatever, I believe it would come to an end much faster. Nothing anyone says will change how they think anyway, so why waste the time and effort and energy to try? I know in the big world picture if no one ever tried no change would ever happen. But this is not the real world. Heaven knows the OFC isn't! And I don't worry about Clay thinking they are representative of the fandom as a whole. I think he knows better.
  10. I think Disney is quite "gay-friendly." My husband knows someone who refuses to take his children to Disneyland and will not allow them to watch the Disney Channel. Why? Two reasons. One, because apparently, they give benefits to the domestic partners of their gay employees. Also, because they permit gays and lesbians to come to Disneyland and Disneyworld on "Gay Day." (I could be wrong, but I don't think it's organized by Disney. I think it's an outside organization that just makes plans for people to show up on a certain day.) Gosh, Jenna, no disrespect to you at all....but Disney ALLOWS gay people to come to Disneyland on "Gay Day"???? Well, whoop-dee-shit!! Last I saw, it's a free country!! To use a Wanda-ism....fuck them!! Sounds like they created a day to point and sneer! Crap! That made me livid! Or had you guessed? I'm not Jenna, but I think you may have read it wrong. Its not that they only allow gay people to come on "Gay Day". The Disney theme parks have whole Gay Days - planned days at these family friendly parks where gays and lesbians go and have fun. Its an event, they have an Expo and everything. See: http://www.gaydays.com/. Its a really big deal. I think it took tremendous courage for a company known as family friendly and somewhat conservative to do this at the risk of the wrath of many of their long time narrow-minded patrons and I salute them.
  11. YOUSE??? Where do you think you're from, Philly??? Awww. Thanks. Contrary to the rumors that are out there, I DO have a good side! Ok, I have to think this came out wrong. You aren't talking about seeing Parker's titaniums, are you???? I mean, he's just a wee one! :o
  12. OMG! Say it isn't so!! :o I wish People would issue a statement saying no money exchanged hands for the pictures or the story because unless you read Jaymes' comment at the OFC you would never know. Muski - MOAM (the song) came on my iPod yesterday when I was driving to work and I too was dumbstruck by it with what we know now. No wonder it resonated with him so - especially at a time when he was so conflicted about how to handle everything concering his sexuality - not only with the public, but also at that time, with his family and friends. ETA: I keep thinking of changing my avatar to a more current Clay picture (of course not one with glasses.....), but every time I look at this one and remember that night (even if I wasn't in a position to see it ) and then I think of what he knew that we didn't and all that was to come.... I just can't change it. At least not yet......
  13. Yup, I feel good about Clay too. Not worried about him, his career or even this fandom. This fandom has always had a flair for the dramatic and had its ups and downs and pontificators and religious zealots who have spent the last 5 years spewing their own verison of Christianity. Somehow it always works its way out. Some may leave, but I think there is always a certain amount of attrition in any fandom. This is no different. I am ready to move on. Not suggesting anyone else do the same. Just me. So I am curious. Other than a tour - because I think we all want to see that (although I have my doubts about the financial feasibility of it considering no one but us seems to know OMWH exists... ), what would you like to see career-wise for Clay in the coming year(s). I am talking specifics. A dream list because heaven knows we have no say in anything nor any right to tell him what to do! But we can dream! I'll start. I would like him to sing the theme song of an immensely popular movie because that is one way to get his glorious voice heard - and maybe even get some radio play. And, when the song is nominated for an Oscar, he would get to perform it in front of millions of people worldwide! I would like some tie-in with Disney - maybe voicing an animated character. Disney's power should never be underestimated. I would like to get him back in the studio soon - record another CD which actually gets planned, long-term promotion when its released. Maybe the theme song from the movie would be on it - sort of like "Breakaway" was with Kelly's album. That could really fuel sales - and again get him heard on the radio. And I want him to write another song or two. It may not be fair, but I do believe for him to ever get taken seriously as an artist in this industry, he has to write more of his songs. And if LAA is any example, he is also very, very talented in that regard - no matter what he may think. My big dream is he gets at least one BIG radio single that is heard forever and I am not sure he will ever get it wthout the power of something like a big theme song or Disney (or both). And I would like him to return to Broadway in a role where he would sing more (again, so more people can really hear his voice) and where he would originate the role. Of course, he would get great critical acclaim and win a Tony! That should be enough for the next year or two. Anyone else?
  14. Ok, someone else got a hug at the stage door! Coming out sure has made him a hands on kind of guy! From CV via the CH: From OFC via t he CH:
  15. Gibby, I was just going o bring those over! And that last one. Can we just EYELASHES and LUSCIOUS LOWER LIP!!! GAH!!!!! Is it ok to still go over him since he has told us he's gay??
  16. I agree. You know, I have to say, I'm actually impressed with the majority of Clay Nation. I always thought that if Clay came out, the reaction would be much more negative. In fact, a lot of people I thought would really struggle with this have actually been surprisingly supportive. Sure, some of the Christian fundamentalists have abandoned him. And there are all those obsessed with this "He lied, and lied about not lying." But it seems to me that the vast majority have either embraced him, or are struggling but still trying to come to terms with it. Even at the OFC, I think if you really look at it, I think it's actually just a small number of bitter people who just keep posting over and over again. I think the majority support Clay, but so many can't bear the tone that the trolls and haters seem over represented. I agree, Jenna. I am actually surprised at how few are negative, and how quickly some who expressed they were struggling in the beginning have come around. I know someone who once told me the only deal breaker to her would be if he came out as gay because that would mean he lied. When the news broke, her first reaction was that she felt betrayed. By the end of day one she understood why he had lied. After reading People and watching GMA she was pretty good with it. Now she has accepted it, understands why he didn't tell us and still loves him as much as ever. I really thought more in the Clay Nation would implode and some I thought would surely lose it didn't. I do think those who have obviously lost their minds at the OFC are the very few and really enjoy hearing themselves talk! That said, I know there are some who are struggling with the news and trying very hard to get through it. I think to most it all takes some getting used to. I know when I saw him on GMA casually say "I'm a gay man" it actually took me aback, and I am sure I am not the only one that happened to. I am impressed and surprise at how overwhelmingly this fandom has stood by him. I didn't become his fan because he was straight and I sure as hell am not going to not be his fan because he is gay! From what I have seen, it looks like most of this fandom feels the same way.
  17. For those who think it is a choice, should there not be some cognitive dissonance with making a choice that was "very difficult for him"? Why would someone make a choice that would make one's life "very difficult." In my mind it should cause one to pause. I think in reading the People article it appeared that Clay also once had the beliefs that homosexuality was a choice. And this may have been one of the reasons that he may have been relatively late to admitting to himself that he was gay. He hadn't made the choice. His remarks that it (homosexuality) is "in the code up there" (loved how he said that) shows that he has had a shift in his thinking. But I am sure this was not an overnight thing. But a shift in his thinking did occur. Scroll alert: Playing academic Piaget's developmental theory about how children learn is that they form ideas about the world by taking in new information and fitting them into concepts they currently have (assimilation) but after awhile they find that the information they are assimilating really doesn't fit the concepts they have (cognitive dissonance) and they need to form new ones(accommodation). I teach my students that the process of accommodation continues through life if we are open to new experiences and ideas. I attended an interfaith banquet this past week organized by indviduals of the Muslim faith. The guest speaker was Dr. Leonard Swindler, Professor of Catholic thought and inter-religious dialogue from Temple University. The events of the evening took longer than planned and when it was time to speak, he changed his original topic (similarities among Christian, Muslim, and Jewish faiths) and talked instead about the "sociology of knowledge" and "dialogue'. About the sociology of knowledge he said that instead of thinking "you must be mistaken, you must see things my way" when presented to another's perspective, we might think instead "I talk to you to learn something from your side and you talk to me to learn something from my side." He described dialogue as "I want to talk with you because you think differently and I can learn something." He said that until recently the world has engaged in monologues-We talk with others who think the way I do. He said the world must move towards dialogues. As I sat entranced by his presentation, taking notes on the promotional materials at my table, I kept thinking about Clay and the divergent views and the struggles of the fandom. There has been monologue across the boards, that is for sure but I have also seen lots of dialogue. Posters are thanking other posters for presenting a perspective they hadn't considered. I pray for the dialogue to continue. And for accommodation to occur. I have to remind myself that even when I don't agree with a person's view, if I listen only to those with views like mine, I will learn nothing knew. End of mini-lecture And now for something completely different... YEA PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great post, cagney - especially the bolded part! :00000442: :cryingwlaughter: Although you did give me a scare when I started reading your post.... OMG. Do you think maybe, just maybe, Clay LIED when he said he thought that was good? yeah he lied and he is so going to hell! But I look at it like this... he's an even better actor than I thought cuz he actually looked like he enjoyed it....hell maybe he did..IT WAS FRIED. Some things never change. hee. :cryingwlaughter: There were those lovely squat toilets when I was in Egypt. I heard tales about them. Thankfully, I have the bladder of a camel, so I was able to wait until we got to the nice hotels! Its rather amusing over here today! Hallelujah! ETA: Clay has a rather strange look on his face in the banner picture with Jaymes. I wonder if Parker just soiled himself!
  18. And so am I as well as my lurker friend. We don't have tickets yet, but we're going!
  19. And extra loud cheer is a given and giving him a big hug is my dream!!! If I can, I will! (But I have a feeling all the hot young guys will relegate me to the back of the crowd.... ) That's pretty cool! A friend yesterday reminded me of the lyrics to that song from South Pacific: you've Got To Be Taught to Hate And Fear, you've Got To Be Taught from Year To Year, it's Got To Be Drummed in Your Dear Little Ear you've Got To Be Carefully Taught. you've Got To Be Taught To Be Afraid of People Whose Eyes Are Oddly Made, and People Whose Skin Is A Diff'rent Shade, you've Got To Be Carefully Taught. you've Got To Be Taught Before It's Too Late, before You Are Six Or Seven Or Eight, to Hate All The People Your Relatives Hate, you've Got To Be Carefully Taught! I totally believe you don't have to follow what you are taught as a child, but to so many, what you are taught - especially when it comes to religion or values - is so deeply ingrained in you its hard to think anyway else. I think this is especially true when you grow up in a community that all thinks the same way, where the belief are not just taught in your home, but in your school and in the playground and in the homes of your friends. How sad that any parent, any religion, any teacher, any person would be so intent on teaching hate - often in the name of God. Sounds like I would have loved your Dad. How you describe him is similar to what I think and how my father felt. Hee my first thought was dang more competition for the front row and my second was I can hear the heads exploding now! And then the important thought....he looks mighty fine!! Love the hair. Those were my first thoughts too! And then my shallow mind went right where yours went.... ETA: Somehow I cut this off. Bookwhore, your puppy is ADORABLE!!! I do so love puppies! ETAA: Found this picture of the Amy Pohler t-shirt from SNL over at getclayaiken:
  20. I am just really glad I am going next Saturday. I can't wait.
  21. YAY for the stage door! I hope he walked out with his head held high and got lots of love from the crowd!
  22. It ate one of mine earlier too! And I suspect you are all just so disappointed..... Yeah, but she has been EXTREMELY judgmental so its a joke when she says she won't pass judgement on them. With every post I read of hers I think damn, I wish Clay would pull the plug on her computer. She is NOT helping an already bad situation. She is just pouring fuel on the fire instead of letting it eventually burn itself out. Seems Clay wanted to the latter to happen and she is not letting it happen. Besides, she is spending so much time on the computer who is watching the baby! Well, its an island of sanity until someone posts an unpopular opinion anyway! But guess what, despite that, I still LOVE this board. Its why despite often very rough seas I still hang around. There must be a lot of Clay fans in the Philly suburbs because I cannot find a copy of People! I will go out again tomorrow but this is very frustrating!
  23. Oh please! If we're going to go with same sex marriage anyway, why not bigamy? check out my edit...hee I'm on that wavelength... Well, why you all are fighting over Jaymes, I am going to court JennaZ!
  24. I really, really want to be JennaZ when I grow up!!! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
