  1. Clayzorback, I think marketing (or any other kind) of radar is just the same as "gaydar" - you use it to reinforce a personal opinion and/or hope - when you have absolutely no evidence to go on, but want to seem in the know or are going for effect. It is easily ignored or discounted as just personal opinion, except when it makes it to the tabloids or a jury. Then it reeks.
  2. Traveler and I have center balcony row C - which is pretty cool, because any obstructions will be pitched screaming down to better seats!
  3. Oh, I LOVE The Pickler, I hope things went well! I would also love to see Kellie and Clay trade wisecracks.
  4. I called Orlando just now and they said they have nothing to do with presales, that is all handled by Ticketmaster....so I have checked my TM account, and am ready!
  5. I adopted my two Siamese about a year or so ago, they were five years old. The original owner (they were in a foster home) had noted that the cats threw up a lot, and was rubbing some sort of cortisone or something on their ears. I don't do that, but have found that Friskies loaf (as opposedto slices in gravy) canned food suits them just fine, they have gained a bit of much-needed weight, and only throw up occasionally. If I try anything else they decorate the house with it, canned or dry. (I think they pukle the dry stuff just to make a point). So you might want to try the Friskies loaf stuff, it is not on the list. I get big boxes of it at Sam's Club or Costco. Aside from being my marketing consultants, all they do is sleep, skulk, shamelessly beg for attention, and eat, so the food is v. important! Nice Clay mention in my Google alert this morning: Facts about Don LaFontaine (announcer guy) Soooo, how long until someone emails Don and asks for the Clack????? I love the "and other stars" part! I don't know why it is posited that any and all nice mentions of Clay are the result of just one new PR person, as if no one would ever mention him if they were not told to do so, but if there is a brilliant new person, they should have also sussed out the ipod stuff, I would think. If they were working directly with Clay, wouldn't they know about it? So, IMO, either non-existant, or not so good after all, especially since those things have been there for quite some time. And the Houston Symphony traditionally has been very adept at promotion. Heeeee.....some of the contortions the new stuff is being put through in order to make it fit this or that theory reminds me of Procrustes: Procrustes myth And "mythical" is such a perfect word!
  6. Oh, I feel everyone who has expressed an opinion here has been fair and balanced, and yes, mainstreaming in schools should be evaluated individually. My Jacob's kindergarten teacher used to almost scream at him, because she liked to have all the kids sitting quietly, writing (yes, in kindergarten, thank you Jebbie) and Jacob had yet to be diagnosed with deafness and ADHD. So Jacob and his teacher both thought he was slow and bad. She blocked him from going into 1st grade, but sent him to a new teacher to re-do kindergarten. Halfway through the first day, the new teacher took him to take a little learning test, and told the principal Jacob was already capable of 1st grade work, he just had other problems that would be made worse by repeating. He was actually impatiently teaching the other kids. Bless her. Jacob got heavy-duty evaluation, and was moved into a class in a different school with ADHD kids who also had hearing problems. he has his problems, but at least he has never been treated as willfully bad and stupid again! With so many older people here in Florida, I hear "why should I pay more taxes for schools when I don't have any kids?" - Um, that would be because every item or service or convenience or necessity you need has to be performed or provided by somebody's kid who has to be educated. Duh. And you never know, that kid who cannot interact with the rest of the world, or hear it, or has trouble paying attention to it, not only is equally human and deserving of an education, but just may be the one who discovers a cure for something, or something like that! Okay, off my soapbox! I am immoderately fond of the banner at the ClackHouse. Not so much the mouse-over, but wow what a picture! EEEEEE!!!! for a Christmas special!!!!!!!!! I wonder if part will be from a Christmas concert! Exclusive performer? Why yes, he is!!!!!!!!
  7. Hmmmm... the point about mainstreaming...as my grandson has extreme ADHD and is partially deaf, I have conflicting feelings about that. He is now in a charter school that has mostly ADD and ADHD kids, and boy, are they lively and/or unruly! I would love for him to be in a regular class, but it is not fair to him OR to the other kids, at times. He does not need to be getting reprimanded all the time, and the class doesn't need to be interrupted, either. The deafness? Those kids are packed away into little classes as if they are mentally challenged or something. And they tend to mix all ages together, so sometimes the older kids are not on a level with their age group because they are in a one-size-fits-all situation. I don't know how many here have been around a child who is NEVER still - not in the movies, not watching TV, just never still, and cannot stop talking - he is only still when he is sleeping! Anyway, I applaud BAF for at least trying to get the challenged kids into the bigger world - they have to live in it one day, after all. Nicest thing today - I picked my grandson up after school, and on the way home, on a very busy highway 301, traffic was stopped completely, then started crawling, both ways - it was because a gorgeous and stately pair of sand cranes (4 or 5 feet tall, I am always astounded at their beauty, and we have a lot of them walking around here) were walking slowly and carefully across the six-lane highway with their big long-legged fuzzy chick, and cars were stopping and going very slowly both to give them safe journey and to just look at them. Oh, I hope Orlando is the last concert, because I cannot do a Florida 4-fer, and I really should not be doing the Texas 2-fer. Traveler and I did cancel the Biltmore concert, tho.
  8. I will be going to the Texas Two-fer and the Florida Three-fer.......traveling with Traveler, in Florida, and with playbiller, in Texas. I was going to Ashville, but I think 5 are quite enuff! But...if Clay adds another concert at the end......
  9. I love the placement of the "Measure of a Man" title for the other singer, too! I haven't received my instructions on what to think about that yet, but I bet the new Vernal Equinox record label had something to do with it.
  10. EEEEEEEE!!!1111!!!!1111!!!! I am soooooo there!!!!!!! Finally, a concert near me! Like that is a consideration!
  11. Interesting Clay mention from a guy who is commenting on the Grease competition: Grease - The Trades I am always happy to see Clay's name mentioned casually, without explanation of who he is - and a look through the other articles for Clay shows a lot of casual mentions.
  12. May I just say Thank you! And EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!111!!11!1!1
  13. nebber mind, don't know yet......
  14. Kimiye, I am just getting busy signals - if you have extras, can play and I buy one? or if Kandre does? I will paypal immediately!
  15. can playbiller and i be in a group??????
  16. Playbiller, what are you talking about? Pleeze don't make me go anywhere full of bitterness and strife to see what you are talking about!!!!!!!
  17. Ms. Trusty - Chemical Abstract Service collects all info about things chemical in a database and evidently sells the info, sorta like the Medical Information Bureau (scary place) or the big legal databases. They have a concert pavilion or something on their corparate grounds, and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra does their pops concert there. OK, I just looked up Chemical as a venue in ticketmaster, and it is called Chemical Abstracts Lawn. Outdoor venue, and table seating is available. Seems like the website is pretty much empty until the season is announced.
  18. About the press release - I am curious as to why some people are so vehemently picking it apart, considering that they are not connected with BAF in any way except to contribute. More kinda pointless micro-managing?
  19. (Looks around, sees that evidently people have overslept, from all the happiness yesterday).....let me be the first to say EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! for the concerts today! Semi-seriously considering the Texas Two-fer - I really want to experience the concerts without going through anyone else's filter or agenda. :TourExcite: :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  20. Heeeeeee.....I read this as "Nookie sale"!!!! Here is a link to an interesting article about the current state of music and radio and CD sales 'n' other stuff: /www.huffingtonpost.com/jacob-bernstein/on-the-the-state-of-the-m_b_44038.html interesting article, quite concise
  21. I like the fact that this little article/release/whatever does not mention hordes of fans propelling Clay anywhere. For once, the fans are not the story. Hmmmm.....maybe Clay is the one who put off promotion because he loves Christmas......maybe folks at RCA were busy vilifying Santa Claus!
  22. oooooh! "initial routing" - looks like there will be more! Um, what if this is just a ruse? At least now we know the first concert is in Texas!!!!!!! :04: :04: :04: :04:
  23. Damn! I wish we had an "Answer Fella" to tell us what Clay REALLY meant! And then I guess we would need an Associate Answer Fella to explain what the Answer Fella was REALLY trying to tell us.....and then, and then.... Heeee....sometimes I wonder if Clay doesn't just do or say things salely in order to see what wondrous and fantastical utter crap is spun. Lessee - Spring is a time of renewal, so I think Clay just signed up with RCA for five more CDs. Or maybe he is telling us that he will be releasing a rocking CD in the spring. Or maybe this is a veiled warning to turn our clocks and watches ahead one hour so we don't miss any sekrit messages. If only I could have seen the state of his eyeballs as he was speaking? Sparkly? Whirling like a Dervish? Rolling pretty far back into his head? Bloodshot? Crinkled shut with laughter? Narrowed suspiciously, wary that Clive will catch him communicating with his fans? Did we get this message straight from Clay, or did I hear R2D2 beeping in the background? I have it from sources I cannot divulge that originally Clay was going to wish us a happy winter, but Clive purposely put that on hold so long that Clay had to substitute spring instead, because spring is one of Clive's favorite seasons. Pleez don't anyone tell Jerome I have been speculating. OMG!!!!! I better start to bling up some earmuffs! I wonder if Clay will be selling those at the concerts! OMG!OMG! Maybe this is a super sekrit concert series!
  24. One word. Clellies. Bwahahaha!, and now I'm done with it! Today is my grandson's 12th birthday - I was present when he was born, and remember how he looked like a tiny tree frog, splayed out in one of those light chambers that treat jaundice. Now he can stand under the ceiling fan in my kitchen and just casually reach up and change the light bulbs. We will be at Busch Gardens all day today! DWTS2 - Laila was amazingly graceful, Leeza Gibbons was shockingly wooden, and Billy Ray accomplished exactly what he wanted to - he plugged his new CD. Bergeron laughed about that. I think Laila is this year's Emmit Smith. On the other hand, if there was a line dancing, Achy Breaky Heart, week, Billy Ray would get all 10's!!!!! Especially in tight jeans. Ever since I emailed Ruth Eckerd Hall and asked them about Clay (answer was no) I have gotten something in the mail from them almost every day about performers who ARE going to be there. Hand-written name and address. I am starting to feel guilty. Yesterday's envelope had the glossy booklet, and also some xerox copies of late additions. I tore into those - I can still remember getting the exact same thing a couple of years ago - the JNT!!!!!! When I saw Clay's name I stopped breathing, wrote a check, and drove to the Post Office to mail it, (took mere nano-seconds!) and then came back and read the fine print! I had to straighten out some stuff - the nicely bewildered box office ladies took my credit card order, and helpfully said they would send my check back when they got it - and I said nah! I know I will be able to sell extras, and I really want the very best tickets I can get. There is nothing like that Clay Ticket Rush!
  25. KAndre said: Bwahahahaha! As if they would eat a raw fish that looks like a fish!!!!!!!! Unless it was sashimi and belonged to me! Although if you skin the mackerel, pick all the bones out, and simmer it in a nice fish stock just until done and then flake it gently and perhaps add just a touch of cream.....throw in a bottle of Champagne, and it sounds like dinner! Seriously, a long time ago I took my son fishing and we caught a little trout (heeee!) and set it on a plate in front of our Siamese cat, Asia. He sniffed the fish a couple of times and looked up at us like "What the hell is this cold slimy thing? Where's my Friskies?" I really don't believe in banning people or excluding them just because they constantly harp on crap elsewhere. I do believe in not having posters that hover over a board and contradict every freaking post that they don't agree with, like a weird version of the Thought Police. State yer case. Let someone else state THEIR case. It is really simple! It just seems like some posters think they are in charge of what all the other posters think of Clay, and all things Clay-related, and I find it kinda creepy. Blogs are good for that stuff, because then you can just not read them. And I find that scrolling IS my friend, but a corollary to that little rule is that if I find I am scrolling past more than 50% of a thread, I can just stop reading that thread; it really works well for me. And even if they are "right" - so what? I was supposed to not enjoy all the Clay stuff along the way? How boneheaded is that? I dunno - maybe it is because I have always found the thought of looking to someone else to form my opinion on subjective things for me kind of incredibly bizarre. EEEEEE!!!!!! for Kevin Bacon!!!!! In many ways, actually, what a great-looking guy; I have loved his movies ever since I first saw him in Diner.
