  2. Good Morning Everyone, 52 Days until Clay is Live at Lincoln Center! :whoohoo: 63 Days until Clay Tapes The Ice Skating Special! :whoohoo: 83 Days until The Christmas Tour Starts! :whoohoo: 109 Days until Christmas in Merrillville! :whoohoo: 112 Days until The Ice Skating Special Airs! :whoohoo: Everyone have a great day! Kim
  3. And God knows I'd pay big bucks for it!!! "spits Pepsi all over the computer" He also told us we don't need to defend him; some fans need to realize that he is a grown man and not still that 10 year-old on the playground that needs protecting. Kim
  4. Just popping in to say "hi" before I go dump myself in a tub of hot water...I swear if the Library ever decides to remodel again, I am handing in my two weeks! Productive day though, I got my desk back in order, computer set up and boxes unpacked. Welcome Cotton, nice to see you here! Couchie Glad you are enjoying the countdown...just let me know if I screw up on the numbers, math was never my best subject. I've met Jamar too and I would never call her passive/agressive...just straight to the point. Time for Calgon to take me away...back later! Kim

  6. Keepingfaith That last picture took my breath away...first thing I thought of was Michaelangelo's David. Kim
  7. Champion I so agree...sometimes it is really necessary to walk away from the computer and get some perspective. It does seem like everyone is talking about Clay when you are on the internet and a reading the boards everyday...but out in real life...not so much. I have never had anyone come up to me and talk about the tabloids and the latest crap the gnats are spewing, not even Ripagate or the airplane incident. You really do have to look at the big picture and in the great scheme of things, most things that happen in Clayland are not even on the radar of Joe Public. Kim
  8. Toots You might want to start with Carrie...it is a very short book and not too scary...this was the first book he ever wrote. Also; instead of jumping into the novels, maybe start with his story collections...Night Shift or Different Seasons...The Dark Tower Series isn't scary at all...just thought provoking; but it is 7 volumes. The Green Mile is excellent! Just a few to get you started! Sheliadownunder I had a heck of time getting through the Cell; seemed to me like SK just dashed this off to get something out there...really lacking in character development and I have to say it really bored me to tears and I have never been bored by anything he wrote. Kim
  9. Okay, am I the only one who keeps reading "Tampa fax" as Tampax? (I never heard this story either.) Kim
  10. Actually, I think the OFC is a lot better since the shutdown; I have learned to ignore those members who push my buttons and to stay out of threads that I know are going to annoy me big time...may not leave a lot of threads to read, but there are a lot of good people there and some good discussions. In the last year I have also looked at my own behavior and have come to the realization that lurking is at times best for me because I do have a tendency to be way too critical and tact is not my friend. But I enjoy reading everyone's opinion. Kim
  11. You are me...I have been nodding my head along in agreement to all your posts and all the pearls of wisdom from the rest of the FCA crew...we have very smart people here! Oh and a :F_05BL17blowkiss: to Canuck; so much word to your post! Kim

  13. For me, it is enough to just be in the house, no matter what size (the house is)...I have never had front row seats, closest has been 5 rows back and and while front row would be nice, being short I would probably spend the whole night craning my neck back to see. I just go to concerts to hear Clay sing, not to be part of the show and as long as we have clack, I can go home and download videos to see what I missed. Before Clay, I maybe went to a concert once every 10 years or so; whenever hubby and I could get a sitter or someone was in the area we wanted to see. So this is a new experience for me and I just enjoy the whole thing; meeting fellow fans, the parties and hearing Clay sing. Its been wonderful and I truly have no regrets that I am not in the front row at every show. Kim
  14. Bottom line for me is that this fandom is supposed to be fun, not a job...I have enough to worry about in real life without worrying about Clay and how his tour sold or how the next one will sell and why is Kelly getting this and not Clay or why Clay isn't on this show or that...yada, yada, yada...I am not a worrier by nature so I always have a hard time dealing with the angst and I am not big on whining either. If it is something out of my control, than it is not worth my time obsessing over. Clay is a smart man and has smart people working for him and I just want to enjoy watching his career unfold and see where it takes him. Kim
  15. Little Women....yes Gone With The Wind....Yes Dickens...Yes! I also read The House of The Seven Gables when I was about 13 or 14 and have no idea what it was about...The Scarlett Letter is a good one to read...that one I think was way of ahead of its time. I collect children's books, so those are really the classics I read...Nancy Drew, The Bobbsey Twins, Five Little Peppers Series not to mention Alice In Wonderland, Bambi, Pinocchio, etc. The only Bronte book I have read is Wuthering Heights and I found it rather dark and disturbing, not much of a love story. I love mysteries so Ellery Queen and Agatha Christie are also on my bookshelf. Kim
  16. Part of my job at the library is opening the boxes of books and checking them in...I love it! It is like Christmas every day to me! I could probably get it done in half the time it takes me if I didn't stand there looking over every book; have to read the jacket flap; open it up; check out the back cover...I have even been known to read a chapter in the midst of unpacking! Kim
  17. Good Morning Everyone, 54 Days until Clay is Live at Lincoln Center! :whoohoo: 65 Days until Clay Tapes The Skating Special! :whoohoo: 85 Days until The Christmas Tour Starts! :whoohoo: 111 Days until Christmas in Merrillville! :whoohoo: 114 Days until The Skating Show Airs! :whoohoo: Everyone have a great day! Kim
  18. Oh, I don't fault him for wanting to be a role model either and I love that no matter what, he has always remained true to himself, but I do think those sentiments have boxed him in to a degree. I just think that after Idol he was very careful about what he said and did and I think a lot of that was do to fan expectations. Then we got JBT WDC; and Clay pretty much putting to rest all notions about him being a choir boy! Kim
  19. At the time Clay made that trek to Atlanta to audition for Idol again, the country was coming out of the fog of sadness and disbelief brought on by 9/11 and needed something or someone to root for again and I think Clay was it. I don't think it was a coincident that he tried out for the show at that time. I never watched Idol myself and then for some reason on Wild Card Night, I decided to sit down and watch. The rest as they say, is history. I pretty much lived for Tuesday and Wednesday nights and when he lost, I was beside myself and couldn't understand why I was getting so worked up over a TV show. And then I started reading the boards and saw I wasn't alone, but what I also saw were expectations for this kid that I thought were unrealistic. He was going to change the music industry; he was going to be the symbol of all that was pure and holy and for some; he was going to save the world from itself. That is a lot to live up to. But then again, I think Clay also has to take some blame for the box he found himself in because of saying he wanted to be a role model and family friendly. Some fans ran with that and anytime he said or did anything that didn't fit into what they thought was role model-ish or family friendly he got called on it. I think it took Clay a lot of time to figure out that he could not be all things to all people and that maybe he was losing himself in trying. So I think moving back to Raleigh was Clay taking back his life; realizing that he could have a career on his terms without the trappings of Hollywood or living there. Maybe he did get a bit of a swelled head and needed to go back home to ground himself and remember where he came from. I think in the last year; after all the crap and Ripagate; when Clay toured last Christmas; we finally saw the real Clay; the guy who can be bawdy and snarky and a little bit of a smart ass and the world didn't come to an end. He allowed us even more personal glimpes with the new Meet and Greet format which again speaks to his growing comfort level with the fandom. I loved Clay when was on Idol, but I love even more the Clay I see now; the confident man who can still be himself while being true to his goals whether they be career-orientated or philanthropic. Kim
  20. Awe, thanks so much! I only stopped during the tour since there was so much going on. I hope I have a lot to add to it in the coming months! So nice to see you here! :F_05BL17blowkiss: Kim
  21. I actually wasn't go to add the last one because I figured people might not want to think about Christmas just yet...and things are over 100 days in the future it takes me a while to count, but then I was asked to add it over at CV and I thought, why not? Kim
  22. Good Morning All, Can't believe it is September already, where did the summer go? I am so not ready for Fall weather wise but definately ready for it Clay-wise 55 Days until Clay is Live at Lincoln Center! :whoohoo: 66 Days until Clay Tapes The Skating Special! :whoohoo: 86 Days until The Christmas Tour Starts! :whoohoo: 112 Days until Christmas in Merrillville! :whoohoo: 115 Days until The Skating Special Airs! :whoohoo: Everyone have a great day! Kim
  23. Another Stephen King fan here! The Stand is my absolute favorite book...I have probably read it at least 3 times! I am one of those that as soon as I get his latest book, I have to sit and read it until I am finished. Just finished Blaze...I enjoyed this one, much more than his last one Cell. Did you notice that the protaganist in the last two books was named Clay? I love it when fandoms collide. Loved The Dark Tower Series; although I have to say I was a little disappointed in the ending at first read, until I really thought about it and then it made sense. Best SK movies...Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption. Never liked The Shining with Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall...totally bad casting and Nicholson was too crazy from the beginning; the character was supposed to descend into madness and I didn't get that from the movie. Also hated the mini-series IT; again bad casting...seems they went for name recognition instead of staying true to character...John Ritter as Ben? I think his books are really hard to transfer to the screen because they just cannot be condensed into a couple of hours and so much is lost. He has a new one coming out January, 08...I am looking forward to that. Kim
