  1. That's QUITE enough of that happy crap, Missie! (Happily peruses FCA) I'll be off in a corner, setting up a complicated spreadsheet with formulas and percentages, so I can determine whether I am still a fan. I had no idea being a fan was so, um, formulaic. Lessee, # of blogs / # of words in blogs oops, other way round? multiply by offerings of personal life ...... this is more complicated than I had thought! add bonus points for blogging when I personally would have been just gazing at my baby subtract 2/3 of those points for keeping personal life personal subtract # of career plans revealed that are not on MY list divide by # of cover songs rumoured to be on next CD multiply by number of cover songs I personally like add 10 points because I did not like Tears Run Dry factor in # of views/fans/blogs by other artists who I don't really care about, but whatever add # of tours near meeeeee (this is too difficult, I just love to hear Clay sing.....) Damn, I need Quickbooks or something! I won't know until later tonight if I am happy or still a fan or what!!!! Yes, this post brought to you by sarcasm'r'us, just keep on reading, I needed to vent a wee bit...then I will be googling around to see what the fuck Lucinda Williams is doing. I buy all her CDs and I love her and she never writes, she never calls.....sniff. No need for rebuttals or whatever, I know everyone is different and fandom means different things to everyone. Truly I do. But some days the happy part of being a fan just gets suuuucked out the window (fear of flying joke) when I read fan boards. So I get a bit bitchy and then I feels MUCH better! Happy Sunday! Thanx for all the fish!!!! Ooops, end-of-the-universe-as-we-know-it joke, sorry! Thanks for all the pix!!!!!!! You'll get no rebuttals from me. I welcome a humourous response to the pages of criticism that I skimmed thru on other boards. I can understand why some of you only read here. claytonic Thanks for the link to the video of that amazing 85 yr old woman dancing the Salsa.
  2. Couchie - looks like full episodes are in the vault, but not on ClackUnlimited. Where is this vault of which you speak? I went looking for it on this site, found the media center and had to tear myself away from reading the reviews of the performances on AI2 Revisited. After reading some of them I wonder. Is it heresy for me to say that I think that Simon was correct in saying that Clay was not what he was looking for in a pop star? He wasn't looking for a cute geeky boy with a great voice. He wanted a pop star to make him a whack of money, to fill huge arenas with screaming dancing fans, someone who can sing the music that sells millions of CDs, year after year.
  3. I find myself really conflicted in regards to wanting to know about the private Clay. I fell in love with this man and granted that was with his public image but part of me wants to know everything and thereby feel closer to him. Of course, that is a dream. It is a dream that I think may impel fans to pay, what to me, are huge sums of money for the privilege of having a meal with him. Now I'm not about to cyber stalk Clay, his friends and family but if a fan site posts such information I read it. And I do read 2 other boards regularly. I envy those of you who have the self control to only read here. Perhaps by year 3 of my fandom I will be able to limit my time reading on boards to a reasonable hour a day. I did find it interesting that some fans had an immediate impulse to suppose that Clay had met the love of his life in Reed. Perhaps Clay is at last, simply, at age 30, able to date and have fun with people to whom he is attracted. Thanks for posting the information about Reed going on tour. It introduced me to Mylene, a singer I had not heard before. I read about her first in Wikipedia before watching a her video, Desenchantee, on YouTube. It is provocative, interesting and thought provoking
  4. I cannot imagine deliberately getting pregnant and giving birth to a second child when the first is just age 1, especially at age 51. I know that Jaymes is in good shape but 2 little ones would be very tiring even with all the nanny help I would presume she'd have. You're not going to believe this but I won something too! I just checked my e-mail and found a note from Kristy saying that I had won a Houston Open shirt and cap (one of those that you donated). I didn't even think to check; I was so excited that I forgot about the silent auction. Eeeeee, we're 3-on-3! We should have bought lottery tickets!!! Uh-oh... what should I tell Kristy when I apologize? I don't think I can say what really happened, that I forgot to claim my silent auction winnings because I was in the Aiken fog. Ideas anyone? bolding mine And why not? I'm sure after 6 years of observing fan behaviour she would understand. He surely is!
  5. claytonic Thank you for this link. Australia Says Sorry For anyone who would like to learn more about the stolen generation there is an excellent movie called The Rabbit Proof Fence. There are various clips on you tube scene from Rabbit Proof Fence
  6. I would love to visit Australia and New Zealand. As for standing on top of a bus I'd have to get much better at keeping my balance. Loved that movie and over the years have watched it 3 times. Priscilla Queen of the Desert, for any of you who might not know of it. Thanks for that photo of lanky Clay and like ncgirl I fantasized about how nice it would be to be able rest my head on that tummy.
  7. And lets see it again! Yes very tasty and judging by that green light on his right thigh someone is taking a long slow focus with their camera up his body either that or is about to take a below the belt photo.
  8. Thank you Scarlett and goldarngirl for uploading that Clack so quickly. It was such a pleasure to see him performing after hearing it, even if I'm not exactly OTM about the song choices.
  9. Wow! How could I have been a fan for 2 1/2 years and never have seen this guest appearance of Clay's on Ed?? Thanks for the link to CNN. It's a great way to start my day.
  10. Is there an employee assistance programme at your sister's work? If so she should be able to get help through them. There have been many suggestions given here so I won't reiterate them except to say go talk to your neighbour, if you trust him. Nope, not just you. I hate to come home to a messy house. I am usually very tired on my return and it's enuf just to get unpacked. Have a wonderful trip.
  11. According to a post at CV the photographer and owner of the photo booth released the photos for money and was proud that they were on JustJared and TMZ.
  12. For all of you headed to Florida and the GFI have a safe trip and a wonderful time. There is a program on tonight at 9 PM on Lifetime called Prayers for Bobby. It is the true story of a gay teen and how he was so afraid of coming out to his parents. According to the short article describing the program, this is the book that gay teens give to their parents when they come out. His mother tried to "cure" him through prayer. preview is here...warning.... have kleenex handy. Prayers for Bobby
  13. I do love the photos of Clay and Reed in that they look so happy together but, please no tossed tomatoes, not so thrilled about Clay's choice of clothing. It adds years to his age IMO and I don't care if it is the latest fashion for men. What I don't understand is how this blogger got the photos? Am I just incredibly naive about how such theft occurs? Usually, if I do go to a blog such as that one, I don't read the comments but this time I did and wanted to bring this one over. bolding mine That reaction is the same, just on a smaller scale, as that exhibited by a number of fans towards the CV10. The price of front row tickets can just as much a hardship for a teenager as the price for a dinner with Clay is to most of his older fans.
  14. This from CH is toni7babe's response to some of the criticism she and the CV10 received after that first report after the dinner.
  15. I'm so glad that some of the CV10 have written their own more detailed reports of what was a fabulous evening for them. I was shocked to read that toni7babe had received angry IMs from fans disappointed that they were not to be receiving detailed recaps of the 3 hour dinner and hope these further reports put a stop to it. Now OT...I receive information e-mails from In The Life and today received one with a link to the 19 minute Interview with Mitchell Gold that they did with him about his book Crisis. Well worth watching.
  16. Love the emoticon! In the case where the fan who won the auction for a private dinner with Clay, we have heard nothing later. I think that perhaps part of the disappointment of getting no recaps from the Celine concert 10 is that we were expecting to read about the concert and the meeting of Celine afterward as well of course what OMC looked like, smelled like and dressed like. There would not be time for much conversation. The event became something entirely different and, as much as I am disappointed in not hearing a bit more about the evening, I understand entirely why Clay made such a request. How can one have easy conversation knowing that everything you say will be on the internet that same night. Always knew it was "well, well". :em0100:
  17. Oh No!! I just read that the Celine Dion concert has been postponed, because of the weather, to tomorrow night! The News and Observer
  18. Really where do you think he gets information from ? I am not saying that Clay reads the fan boards other than OFC but I think any good support team including friends would read other boards particularly around important times such as opening and closing of Spamalot. It would be really short sighted to get fan response from only one source.
  19. I have always found that gif to be horrifying. As for Clay and the increased tongue action on the last weekend, could he not have decided to give his fans an extra treat since it was obvious how much that tongue was appreciated? And I don't believe that the only information he gets from fan boards is from the OFC.
  20. It is reported on CV that Clay arrived at Ain't Misbehaving with 1 girl, two guys, and a huge man who "must be his bodyguard". The girl had short dark hair but was not 40 or 50 years old. Both of the guys were shorter than Clay ( so I guess, no Reed). They all sat together. When they came in and were looking for their row, there was lots of whispering and buzz, so he was definitely recognized. He was wearing jeans , probably a T shirt and a zip up jacket. He was not dressed up but looked neat and casual. His hair was not styled in spikes, it was "just kind of out there."
  21. ncgirl My interpretation of that look on Clay's face...one of pure sensual pleasure at being petted by a good friend. On the other hand he could just be really tired. liney23 That is one of those expressions which these days is hardly ever used in its entirety...just as in "money is the root of all evil" instead of "the love of money is the root of all evil". The expression is "as happy as a clam at high tide" because at high tide the clam is safe. I find it interesting this discussion of some people's disappointment in Clay's behaviour. I wonder...why now? We look back in the gigabytes of Clack of concerts and interviews and performances of Clay's and certainly the sexy bawdy Clay has been there for years. For example the JBT grinding with Angela and then all that zipper banter from the 2006 JNaT in which he obviously enjoyed reminding us night after night of just where some of those binoculars were trained. So is Clay acting sexy in a totally different category than Clay having a drink or saying Hell or shit? As far as I know he has never been recorded dropping the f bomb. As for Spamalot so much of its humour is the kind of broad humour that appeals to boys and the boy in men and is not meant for children. That is not to say that I didn't find it funny. As I told my friends when I returned from NY "I laughed so hard I almost peed myself". Years ago I would have been more restrained in my appreciation but now I allow myself the the full pleasure of belly laughter. ETA: Preview of Ain't Misbehaving
  22. Off topic I know and since it is such a momentous time I hope it is allright that I post this here instead of the political thread. I just finished watching the address that President-Elect Obama gave before thousands of people in Baltimore. How wonderful it will be to have as President of the U.S. someone who is so inspiring, so articulate, someone who can fill people's hearts with hope in these times which are difficult for so many people.
