  1. And/Or a lot more camps get funded for next summer. Where did you read this? Kim... Thanks for your post. merieee Please tell me here or by PM where you have been reading this kind of crap and I'll be sure not to go there!
  2. Thanks for posting that article couchie. It is an interesting and thoughtful article but the following quote sure pushes some of my buttons. I resent all the assumptions that are made about this fandom. The same kind of knee jerk reaction is displayed in this quote as is made about gay people. All his fans are middle-aged and elderly women therefore they are conservative. We are a mix of beliefs and opinions just as the majority of people in this continent are.
  3. There is an article and a short video about the interview now on ABC After Birth of His Son, Aiken Says It's Time to "Let the Guard Down' What a huge relief for Clay to finally have announced this. I hope that the gay jokes will now stop. It seems that in the media, while it is okay to make fun of people perceived to be in the closet it's not okay to make fun of openly gay people.
  4. I've been reading the People magazine thread at OFC and am happy to say that 99.9% of the posts have been very supportive. I liked this one: Now I just have to figure out how exactly to respond, without getting red in my face, to the comments I will get tomorrow from people who have always insisted that their "gaydar" is never wrong.
  5. djs111 You have got to be kidding!! I am amazed. How could any fans who cared about him could say that? Now I wasn't a fan back then but having seen numerous photos and vids of Clay with Raleigh, it was obvious to me that he was so happy to have a dog to love and a dog who returned that love.
  6. I love it!! At last! But I'm going to be away where I won't have access to the internet. Arghh!! Talking of Texans getting their power back my daughter still does not have power. Nevertheless they feel so lucky that they had so little damage. As her husband says it's like they're " living like we're camping -- only with comfortable beds, running water and hot showers"
  7. I just received this e-mail and the person who sent it didn't include the name of the person who wrote the e-mail. She may be the person I heard interviewed on CBC radio whose idea it was to have a demonstration to show that not all women in Alaska support Palin. According to the interview it was the biggest political rally ever held in Alaska! I'd like to know why there hasn't been any coverage of this demonstration on television news.
  8. Tonight I watched some of the Bob Saget roast on Comedy Central. I say some because I kept switching channels when the language got just too gross. You know I still get amazed that this stuff is considered funny, let alone allowed on TV. I googled Bob Saget and read that he is known to have a very foul mouth and then saw with some dismay that he is one of the "comics" who will be roasting Matt Lauer. I am also dismayed at my reaction, I thought that my protective maternal feelings for Clay had been replaced by lustful admiration of his handsome self. Speaking of his handsome self, I am loving the photos and videos posted of the SD. He is looking just fine.
  9. BC/EFA Auction The auction is over. There were many items it would have been wonderful to have, tickets to the opening night of Billy Elliot, for instance. I love that movie. It must be a sign that I am so used to the adoration shown to Clay that while I was so pleased to see that the Spamalot item went for, $8,200.00, the highest bid, I was not at all surprised. I wonder who MsBullfrog, the winning bidder, is. I'm in my happy place again. ETA: Ooops...Spamalot tied with Wicked. ...........still :00000442: ETA2: The winning bid could be even higher! This item goes to live auction!
  10. The video from last night has a lip bite for those of you who swoon away at the sight of them.
  11. The movie is out now. Our local theatre arranges a film series for the fall and for the spring. This was the first one of the fall series. ps I make my oatmeal with skim milk instead of water.
  12. I have just come back from seeing a delightful movie and really want to share how I felt about it. It is "Young at Heart" about a chorus of senior citizens who sing rock songs. It came highly recommended and altho I didn't know if I would enjoy seeing it I am now so glad that I did. The youngest member of the chorus is 73. One of the scenes which I found so touching was at the local county jail seeing the reaction of the men when the chorus sang Dylan's "Young at Heart". If anyone is interested here is the you tube link to the trailer. Couchie Oatmeal for breakfast, my favourite and I add a handful of blueberries to it. Yummy! I'll have to give that pumpkin pie spice a try.
  13. Deleted...aikem you beat me to it by how many seconds? Funny how "he looks ok, kinda thin" will probably be reported on Friday night as he looks "f.....g gorgeous". Obviously the person reporting is not a Clay fan. She didn't even say what his hair looked like or what he was wearing.
  14. Hee...wrong hair... Now the questions is...which IT hair? Could it be fedora hair? LOL. Yep...wrong hair...she did say IT hair but I think that it is highly unlikely that he is gelling and spiking his hair again tho I am glad to hear that it is shorter. From the NY Daily news an article on Hollywood celebs stealing the Broadway stage Clay is photo 20
  15. I just read on OFC that His hair is brown with blond highlights and like the JBT hair. Tho' which JBT style is not yet established.
  16. Thanks! But you realise I will now feel obligated to refer to you as nasturtium or perhaps phlox..... Oops!! A thousand apologies. I was posting while my grandsons were having a snack and so was not paying full attention. what does djd111 stand for? BWAH! and she does it twice!!!! And JMH always such a nice quiet person. Hmmmmm Oh djs111 (this time I cut and pasted your name)...the grandkids are gone, I am pooped and obviously almost brain dead.
  17. Thanks! But you realise I will now feel obligated to refer to you as nasturtium or perhaps phlox..... Oops!! A thousand apologies. I was posting while my grandsons were having a snack and so was not paying full attention. what does djd111 stand for?
  18. (Assumes usual bossy know-it-all stance) - there is NEVER anything wrong with a HUGE picture of Clay, missy! Good one djd111 Would someone please post a photo which illustrates this Huge attribute of Clay's? You must have a favourite in your Handbasket (as in going to hell in) folder. :29: I assume it is still allright to enjoy being titillated by such images?
  19. It's great that you have internet again. I just went to the LaLate site and had no pop-ups. Do you use IE or Firefox? They have a contest there but the rules are not clear. CONTEST - Clay Aiken LALATE2 Fan Video I scanned the Time Magazine article and it kinda creeped me out. I really had very little interest in celebrities until Clay entered my life 2 years ago and it's scary that I spend more time thinking and reading and occasionally worrying about him than I do about my kids. That I have more photos of him on my computer than I have of my grandchildren. OMG I really do need an intervention! Yet another edit: from CH I have tried to make a link to the photograph of that newspaper page like the "International Superstar" one that dancermom2 did but it doesn't work. In posting the photo it became HUGE What did I do wrong?
  20. Hmmmm....wonder if there's a part in there for Clay! Don't know if Clay would be interested in another Broadway play but I would sure love to see him win a Tony for an original part! Wow, A Fish Called Wanda as a musical? Hee! As one of my favourite movies, I can hardly imagine it...but leave it to John Cleese, if anyone is capable of making it funny, he is. Not so sure about the musical part, though. Hard to imagine anyone else playing his role. I always got a goofy grin when I heard him as the voice of God in Spamalot. I him........and that cute Sir Robin guy, too. EEEEEEEEE, only 4 more days until fresh Spam reports! Congrats, annabear! I loved that movie and it was around 1990 while visiting my parents that I rented the video so they could see and enjoy it. I had forgotten how many effing this and effing thats there were and there was no laughter coming from parents. They did watch it until the end tho' and then my mother turned to me with a quizzical expression and asked "What made you think we'd like it, dear?" If Clay did have a part it would probably be that of Wanda's owner.
  21. Bringing this over from CV One of the things that makes me angry about the hurricane is that gas companies are using it, as they do with all such disasters, as a way to gouge the public and make even greater profits. I wouldn't mind so much if they then used those profits to help out the victims of the storms.
  22. I am a Canadian and as our former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau once said being next to the USA is like being a mouse lying next to an elephant. The politics and economics of the USA have such an impact on us so this election is creating a huge amount of interest here. When I heard Sarah Palin's speech at the convention, I was very disturbed and then later when I heard comments like "Oh yes, I'd vote for her, she's just like us." Huh? That's what is important in a person who is just a heart attack away from being the President? For those of you who may not have read this. Here is a blog from a resident of Wasilla Alaska on the Sarah Palin she knows. http://www.alternet.org/bloggers/www.alternet.org/98077/
  23. They're mean. Note the army boots. *g* I appreciated the comments but I was wondering if this emoticon referred to something Clay or Clay fan specific. You know like one of those many references only a Clay fan would get? Not necessary but definitely a useful place for the furnace and storage and the laundry room. Tonite I watched AIRewind and seeing Clay in that unflattering beige suit singing "What the World Needs Now" made me schmoopie. Mmm never had seen nor heard that word until I became a Clay fan. There have been so many changes in his appearance and life in that time. But then it has been over 5 years and 5 years in the life of someone in their 20's is so much longer than it is in my life at my age. Hope that all you Texans affected by Ike continue to be safe and healthy and for those of you going to Spamalot this weekend I hope that the planes are still leaving on schedule.
