  1. I haven't watched CNN this morning yet for the latest on the Ike damage but it looks like it will be more than just a few days until power is back on. In the past I have had sympathy for people affected by such natural disasters but it does feel very different now that I have a personal connection to people who live in and around Houston. Thank heavens my daughter is safe tho' definitely not comfortable with no power and no AC. Less than 6 days until we are hearing from those who will have the pleasure of seeing Clay back in Spamalot. can someone tell me why these dancers look so pissed off?
  2. I know the amount was posted somewhere but I can't find it. I do know it was over a million for 2007. Hope that everyone is safe tomorrow morning. If one or more of you Texans is without telephone and electricity tomorrow morning could you cell phone a friend on the board who does have electricity so she can let us all know that you are safe?
  3. I was 11 when Hurricane Hazel hit Southern Ontario. We lived about 25 miles away from Toronto and because we had no electricity for 3 days had no idea that there had been such severe flooding of the Don River or that people had drowned. It was pre-transistor battery radios. A large maple tree fell across the road bringing down the power lines. My memories of that time are of the thrill of standing out in the wind and later of reading Tom Sawyer by the light of a candle.
  4. Keep safe all you brave Texans. I have never had to live thru this kind of weather threat so can only imagine what it must be like for you. I hope that Ike loses some of its strength before making landfall.
  5. Thanks for the offer....but the prize is non transferable . Again, paphooey!!!
  6. I just read the rules to the OFC contest. Paphooey!!! Only entrants from the US!!! Not that I planned to write a bio but it is fun to dream.
  7. Hi All I just got back from a doctor's app't and read what happened after I deleted Jemock's post which I had brought over from CV. It was another lesson for me in board etiquette, not to react so quickly and to contact a moderator if I have any questions about the appropriateness of a post. Being relatively new to this board I am really conscious of not wanting to offend and there is a lot of fan history that I have yet to learn. I would hate to become one of the posters that others routinely skip over or have on their ignore list. If I had been here I would have reposted it but am glad that Jemock did.
  8. Amen, sistah. Not a funny joke, really. Wow I had no idea that you would find this offensive. My apologies.
  9. Goodsearch.Com A purdy little picture on the home page and then, when you lick click on his purdy little face, it takes you to an even purdier bigger picture! Who's doing good? Heh....Parker is proof that this man's already done good... and, no doubt, was good doing it. Thanks for posting this, it reminded me that I did not have GoodSearch as a search engine. I now do. Word.
  10. Oh yes I will be in Houston which is where one of my daughters lives and I would love to be indoctrinated. I arrive on the Oct 28th and we are leaving for Austin on the 30th arriving back in Houston late on Nov 3rd and I fly home mid afternoon on Nov 6th. So after we get back from Austin?
  11. What a wonderful surprise that Clay finally blogged and I think it is a fine idea for him to get his fans to write his new bio but really....how much time will he have to read the possibly thousands (how many fans are on OFC anyway?) which will pour in? If this works for him maybe he will ask to use some of the excellent photos taken by fans. Anyway my spirits are lifted, it's a beautiful day...it's scary how much this man affects my feeling of emotional well being. I do hope that eventually I will reach that zen state where I can view whatever happens to Clay and in the Claynation calmly and with acceptance of que sera, sera. I gather from some of your posts that it is possible to reach that state of mind. Now I am hoping that those of you who have visited Austin, Texas can give me some advice. I am going to the Texas Book Festival with my daughter and wonder if you can recommend a reasonably priced hotel near the Capitol. We found one on line last nite but got put off by some of the comments which included mentions of large cockroaches and a grimy exercise room. I would really appreciate some advice. For you cat lovers ETA I just watched a montage from sylvie123 The combination of that bouncy song with the photos of OMC will cheer up any fan.
  12. 11 Days until "Spam, Wonderful, Spam"! And something new to talk about, analyze, GAH over...thank Goddess! I just discovered the "Laughter, The Best Medicine" thread and laughed til I had tears running down my cheeks and had to run to the bathroom before I wet myself. I did post a couple of links to youtube videos but want to post one of them here also, if that's OK. Dawn French is a British comic and the star of the Vicar of Dibley. I think her reaction to Tom Jones will be very familiar to those Clay fans who have been fortunate enough to be in his presence. Star struck Dawn French On re-reading this post I realized i should add that I did not mean to imply that any Clay fan would actually react in this way but that the feeling would be similar.
  13. Just this morning I found this thread, not that i was even aware that it existed. Now that I have had a pee and wiped the tears of laughter from my face, I want to thank you all for such good laughs. Also my mother will thank you. You see, my mother who is 90 and lives in an assisted living facility in Ontario gets depressed and sad. We have long telephone conversations about 3 times a week and I have found that the best way to cheer her up is to end the conversation with some jokes. If they are a little naughty, so much the better. I have a file on my computer in which I save jokes for her and every so often print up the latest batch and send them to her. Here is a video of Dawn French and her star struck reaction to Tom Jones. I think this will be familiar to Clay fans who have been fortunate enough to be in Clay's presence. Dawn French is a British comic, the star of the Vicar of Dibley. Star Struck Dawn French then there is Snogging Brad Pitt I like her last line "You gotta take your thrills where you can get them."
  14. This is my very first post here!! So first of all, Hi. And now......my very first disagreement..he's not tired. He's "content". Very "content". Please let me think he's "content". Well sure you can think he's content. We all have different filters and I sincerely wish that the filter now in my head was not there. goldarngirl Thanks...I danced on again. And Cotton thanks for posting the Clay montage version. Oh, I am looking out my front window at a beautiful almost half moon hanging in a sky tinged with pink at the horizon.
  15. posting on the run before going for yet another dental appointment. I've been away from the boards these last few days, just checking in briefly and I want to thank you for posting those photos of Clay from Hannah's website. For so long earlier this year I could look forward to almost a steady stream of Clay photos and have these last months really been missing him. Now that photo of Clay and Hannah...so many interpretations...for me, new Clay information now goes through the "Clay is now a daddy and who knows what his relationship with Jaymes is" filter. I can't help it. So, after initially feeling "gah" at those sexy bedroom eyes I thought...he's probably just tired.. Darn!
  16. wandacleo saltwaterdog I know for me it is a matter of time and money. I simply cannot afford the money it would take to get tickets, fly to New York and stay there for a couple of nights. I would love to see Clay in Spamalot again and would love to meet more fellow fans. When the reports start being posted of his performance and the daily peasant and what happened at the stage door, I'll be reading here and on other boards soaking up every little detail and right clicking on those beautiful photos. Obsessed much? And I will be so thankful that there are fans who take the time to write such detailed recaps of the performances and that there are fans who take and post photographs and videos of the stage door. And maybe I'll even be listening to a cellcert to hear the exclamations of "He's so effing gorgeous!" I have my fingers crossed that there will be a tour next year so that I can combine seeing Clay with visiting family in Ontario. I don't have any hope of a tour coming out this way.
  17. Thanks for posting this article. It does explain why seemingly intelligent people can be sucked into believing something untrue. Oh, I wish that courses in Critical Thinking were required for all students in our schools. cindilu2 Love the pins. Thank you for creating them. K'andre I am really enjoying your travelogue...there is a kitten in a cage along with the chickens...I hope it is being sold as a pet and not something for dinner.
  18. I would love for you to visit during the Olympics, but I do live 50 miles north of Vancouver and that includes a 40 minute ferry ride on a ferry that only runs every two hours.
  19. Thanks for the recaps of your adventures, K'andre and Scarlett. I do so admire your cool, I would be freaking out inside if I didn't know the name of my hotel or where it was or where I was. I live in a small community where I know of no Clay fans and who misses having other fans to talk to directly. I am wondering do any of you here live in the Lower Mainland and might be interested in getting together for lunch or dinner sometime to just have a good time sharing fandom. I can travel to anywhere in the Lower Mainland. It is going to be a long time until I am once again somewhere where there are a number of fans together since I just cannot justify the time and expense of flying to New York for Spamalot. If it were the same time a last year, I would...just bad timing for me. Any way if anyone is interested please PM me. annabear Thanks for the pretty pictures.
  20. I know that the equestrian events are taking place in Hong Kong but that's all I know.
  21. Iseeme Sorry to read of your MIL's death. She sounds like she was a very special person. Re happy love songs how about "Still the One"? Scarlett and K'andre I missed reading the reason for your Hong Kong trip other than having fun. Are you going to any Olympic events?
  22. My favourite radio interview is the one he did while on the AI2 tour when he was in Charlotte...anyway it was Matt and Ramona where Ramona read the definition of the clutch and its variations the tug and the yank as defined by a poster on what became WMS. to which Clay responded.."Oh no, you don't want that!" Hah! Well Yeeesss!
