Claygasm
Phil - Why do they all carry the mic stand with them when the mic comes off???? Seems to be doing a lot of screaming. I don't remember this song at all. Was there screaming in the original? Wasn't thrilled, but maybe I just didn't like the song. At least he had energy! ETA: I am so glad to hear Simon say that! I was beginning if I was nuts! Well, I may be nuts, but I meant about this! Edited March 21, 2007 by Claygasm
Ansamcw
Ok never heard this song before..are you guys familiar with it??? he is doing a good job with it I think...good energy. I think that's his best performance so far...doesn't say much...but good for him
playbiller
I despise carrying the mike stand all over the stage - it is just silly - they can't be that heavy that I should be impressed. Boring for an uptempo - why was the band so load again, unlessthey are trying to drown him yout? Maybe I should go back to sleep. Oooh, Ugly betty is on now I think, ! nope, tomorrow. playbiller
I guess I listennedto a lot of music then, because I know the originals and these are not doing any of them, even the ones I don't like, justice! I guess Clay is my gold standard - his demos are more kareoke, but he did them proud.
Ansamcw
Isn't Ugly Betty Thursdays?? WOW...Simon was harsh...but I think realistic.
Claygasm
Jordin - I cannot believe she is only 17! She is very good tonight. Its a huge song and she is nailing it! I cannot believe she is just 17!!!! Well done! (Watch the judges hate it!)
Ansamcw
hee another song that I always heard as a child... aww Jordin is soo cute...and such a kid in that clip... but I'm afraid.. Simon might say it was too old for her... oh I like how she is singing this...she got the emotions just right ...and she isn;t being cheesy melodramatic with it... wow her voice is really good with this...love her phrasing...WOW that glory note...was great and she did give it some Jordin touch in the end... excellent...she is my favorite tonight... Ansamcw
But that is the power of that song...it can really make you feel depressed cos she really emoted that perfectly... I love her...she should go at least top

Ansamcw
OMG! The wild side of Sanjaya?? I am afraid. Very, very afraid! I heard he has a mohawk tonight...
playbiller
Jordan was good and very depressing as she should have been. I wonder how that affects voting? I was not so enamoured with her voice as with her emotion. See now this song really requires you to shout it - he needs to be a leeeetle louder He is so cute, he really got into it!But who was the little girl crying? Claygasm
Oh dear.... I don't know if I am ready for Sanjaya. I really, really don't. Thank God no mohawk! Well, in its original incarnation, this song was shouted, so I guess I can't fault him for shouting. It is certainly the most animated I have seen him. But still...... Best he's done, but still just not good. And who is this crying girl they keep showing???
Ansamcw
OMG...he is sooo out of tune with that...hope he didn't choose that first one I am glad the mohawk was just a rumor... I can't believe he chose this song...OMG...this soooo bad...he can't get the tune. why is that girl crying...is she horrified??? well at least he showed some grit in the end... OK ...Simon...I thought the same thing...but she is just sooo thrilled...too cute
KAndre
I would say that's Sanjaya's biggest fan! That was sort of sweet. He was oddly entertaining.
KAndre
Man, I'm not feelin' that Paint It Black was the best choice for her. 'Cause it sounds terrible to me, and I liked it back in the day.
playbiller
WHo knew you could sing this song off key? Typical rocker girl image - so not special. Vocally not good enough - could have said it to every guy tonight and been right! Edited March 21, 2007 by playbiller
Claygasm
Gina - Paint it Black - one of my favorite Stone songs! I have always liked the earlier Stone songs best. She sounded ok on it, but the plaintive parts didn't sound plaintive enough for me. But she's a breath of fresh air. She went off tune several times. It was ok, but overall the vocals weren't great. I have to agree with Simon. Edited March 21, 2007 by Claygasm
Ansamcw
Its a good thing lulu made her put the key higher...she would've been totally too low she does have a good pop rock voice... I like the little changes she added made it more hers... good job....maybe a little more drama was needed...but her vocals were good... what was Simon listening to...some of those notes were stylistic choice and I thoguth she made it more funky... playbiller
Really? She sounded flat to me several times.
Ansamcw
I thought Simon was too harsh though...cos I didn't really hear too much pitchiness..I suspect when she made those off notes...he thoguht she was off but I thoguth she put that in to make it a bit different. Claygasm
Chris S. - He is so odd looking! I know that doesn't matter, but I am shallow and have a hard time getting past that! I liked the original of this so...... I hate it when they walk through the audience! Started off a little weird, but he's sounding a bit better. Very close to the original. Just get on that damn stage already! And he's carrying the mic stand all over the place! This is annoying. A bit pitchy. Well, that did nothing for me so the judges will ove it! Ansamcw
Ok I love she's not there... he better not mess it up... oh wow ..how do I know this song...it was a hit when I was born...I guess lots of people covered. Oh dear he is just too boring with this performance... not feeling him here...his vocals are not up to it...and he was losing breath at the end... not good for me. playbiller
It is distracting when they sing in the audience -the people touching him were off putting. He is not pretty, but hey, that is him. I see he gave into Simon with the glasses this week. I prefer the original, his changes were minor, but I recognized them. It is that drowned out by the band thingthat gets to me - I adjusted my sound reducingthe bass, but still have the problem. I have to set the TV to listen to real stuff again. Please -the fro patrol - nooooo
Ansamcw
well yeah he did better than last week but that was not saying much. I am no longer liking his personality..just not funny...just trying too hard I think.
