  1. That term is in common use over here as well (if a little old fashioned). Also the junior volunteer lifesavers are called nippers - I have two nephews who are nippers in the summer. It is also in used as the name for a measure of spirits ie a nip of whiskey or rum :trink3: (Hey KF!).....or Kahlua yuummm...... I have heard it used in a derogatory way for certain nationalities but I feel that it is dying out , especially in my area since we have such a lot of tourism and immigration . It is a bit jarring to hear that kind of talk when the "country cousins" come to visit.
  2. This ones the hardest so far IMO. No 1 just squeeeeks in.......
  3. ITA Treenuts - I looove the happyhappy pics. To me no.1 looks more natural and no.2 looks like someone who looks a lot like that Clay Aiken guy. ( Just my weirdness?)
  4. YEAH Cindilu! Fans self repeatedly.........
  5. {{From Claygary}} I know all is different over there, but is there some professional organisation/association, or union, or government dept that is involved in workers rights or could tell you what the "industry standard" severence package might be? Sending good wishes to all those on a job hunt.
  6. Happy Belated Birthday K'Andre!! Good luck to the Gala breakfast organisers. Love the photo of Clay and gang at Disney, puts a silly(er) grin on my face!
  7. Count me in for the Torchwood looooove!! (And the Clay impatience!!!!)
  8. My heart goes out to you Muski I so understand the feeling of having that heavy cloak lifted off you, I felt something similar after my first baby. Suddenly , after about six months, I got up one morning and thought "I'm back". I didn't realise at the time that I was gone but looking back I can see how I was not really myself. This feeling of lightness for you must mean that you really are doing the right thing and your body and mind knows it. Not to say you wouldn't wish it was different but just know that when that guilt-voice starts to nag that there are many of us who think you are doing a great job in a hellish situation. Sounds like you have a wonderful husband and daughters and I am trying to send good vibes to you all. :thbighug-1:
  9. My kids always appear to be at deaths door until we get to the doctors surgery and then they look like they could run a marathon whilst singing and dancing a jig. Is Clay sharing yet?.............How 'bout now?...............Yet? No?............. Lets speculate!... Maybe a baby brother or sister for Parker?.....Or maybe a talk show? (wishful thinking I know)
  10. Happy Birthday JMH computer not working properly at the moment - will be asking dumb tech questions in a week when it speeds up a bit!
  11. :3: aikim & liney, I'll be glad to bring some party supplies That would certainly be better than sitting around feeling sorry for myself since I can't get to the Gala Count me in,of course! Canfly eHp = evil Houston posse. Or, since I read back where everyone is in it, in my case it could be evil HelluvalongwayfromHouston posse. Good thoughts to Couchie and Mom. My Dad hasn't been well lately. Ordinarily they would do some tests but he is severely allergic to anasthetic and many medications so that rules alot of things out. He said the Dr says it might be "something going around" but I am worried. I think Mum is too but she hasn't let on.
  12. I am truly offended! I was all ready to be truly offended but then I didn't win my $106 mil lotto last night. (Drats! I'd already spent it too!) Welcome Cognitogirl!
  13. Happy Birthday Fear I've just caught up.....another interesting week here...... My SIL came from interstate for a visit, it was lovely catching up. Now the kids are on holidays and I have finally succumbed to the flu. (Not swine, thank goodness) ..Wish Clay would come and entertain us..... ETA: Seems to me that some people blame Clay, or this board (which is all of us), when they idolise Clay as some kind of saint/saviour, then realise the error of this or how it goes against their religon. There never seems to be sense of "Well I am obviously too obsessive about this". It's like how some people can't ever stop at one or two drinks and others can take it or leave it.
  14. Happy Birthday Ansa and Couchie :Boss: :Boss: :2164: :Boss: :Boss:
  15. mmmm...brownie melts........ (worth flying around the world for, in the absence of a concert of course) Can you tell I'm supposed to be cutting back the calories?
  16. Happy Birthday Justclay! Mmmm..rhubarb and custard and ice cream......
  17. Oh brother, you can say THAT again! I also like the next thing he said about talking about a human community rather than a gay one beause of this. Where dat frommmmmmmmm? Yeah , what Canfly said. Is it the same as your avatar (??right word??) keepingfaith? He looks so happy there.
  18. Thanks for bringing that over Fear. It's lovely to hear.
  19. Happy Belated Birthday Clayzycoffin, Oolsee and Jumpingjacks! The ehP is truly a many talented bunch As I was telling my neice the other day - everything is better with ice cream...... Amen Liney
  20. Well , what a day in FCA land! First (and most important) Happy Birthday Claymatron! I'll bring the white flag! Oh wait it had better be rainbow coloured...wouldn't want anyone to think I am not PC ITA!!!! Also, not to get into the rights and wrongs of any post or poster, but I do want to make a comment. If I am silent on any matter, I hope that nobody thinks I am too scared or under the thumb of any bully to make a comment. Also,If I am silent on any matter, I hope that nobody thinks that I am too cold-hearted to feel sympathy/empathy for another human being who has suffered a tradgedy of some kind. Both these misconceptions would be incorrect. Sometimes I have to work at my apparent apathy, I would explain why ....but I just can't be bothered........hey! it's working...
  21. The inevitable comparison between this outcome and AI2...so many were dead certain of one outcome, which didn't happen. Also, the discussion of actual or perceived sexuality. I just think it's likely Clay Aiken(!!!) will be mentioned in tomorrow's (today's!) news articles about the finale. Publicity. That's whut ah mint. Yeah, ITA, I bet Clays name will feature in a lot of the stories. Well, my little corner of the world has been declared a natural disaster area due to rain & wind leading to flooding and injuries and death from flying debris. Lots of power outages, road closures and all the beaches are closed. Funnily enough our house/street is not too bad. Though I did have a rather thrilling drive home yesterday!! Claytonic, are you safe and dry?
  22. I agree with djs - not cheek! But, having said that, I can totally understand the appeal of the way they did HP. I am a fan of both the books and the movies and part of it is the work and expertise that you can see in those movies. Also I normally do prefer a live show/concert etc and given that it would be very hard to do HP justice on the stage, this is the next best thing. Am very much looking forward to the new one!!!
