The Clay part:

Quote

As noted by Aiken, opening-night weather was mercifully clear and mild, as if the stars had aligned to kick off the Broadway celebration’s Wednesday through Saturday run.
The engaging host, cheerleader, and performer was as well-versed in CLO history as he was eager to get the party started. You’d think he was a Pittsburgher the way he kvelled about the city’s talent onstage and behind the scenes.

The AMERICAN IDOL runner-up and SPAMALOT star, who burst onto the CLO scene as a bespangled Teen Angel in GREASE, quipped that he was invited back so he could outdo his costume and show off “my best Liberace.”

He opened the celebration with a song by Jason Coll, UNDER THE STARS, written specifically for the occasion. Aiken later delivered one of the few take-a-breath numbers, an unexpectedly jazzy, moving arrangement of WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I?, featuring a sax solo by Sam Eisenreich.

I’ll 2nd that thx, Fear! Ldyj, don’t work too hard today!

Love the reviews! Makes me want to hear those songs even more now.. esp, the opening number.

Why aren’t they doing the Saturday night show?

😟So sad if no podcast. I was hoping they prerecorded.

I loved last week’s because when the lady said that Clay is unique, and was going to live his life his way.. she nailed it 🥰

Delighted to see my friend again, Clay Aiken at the Pittsburgh CLO Anniversary Gala. Thank you & cast for an awesome Broadway Musical Celebration. And thank you, CLO, for an unforgettable evening including a VIP Recepton, Dinner, Broadway Presentation & Fireworks-- a most memorable evening!

I’ve heard that show is very funny! Clay said, I think during his pop-up reunion, that he started watching it because Hannah was on it. Now he’s hooked and has watched it like 4x.

Clay requested we watch ‘Sex Education’ on Netflix way back on his first or second How the Heck podcast. I finally started watching it and now I’m hooked! I’ve seen all 8 episodes and a new season starts in September! Clay says it’s not porn.. but um yeah, pretty racy ;)

The man has way too much influence on me!

I LOVE TED LASSO!  It was kind of one of those shows that was "talked up" too much to me -- when almost everyone you know says "you need to see this show," I tend to run the other way.  (Never saw "Forrest Gump" for exactly that reason.)  But I finally broke down about a month ago, when my husband said we needed to watch something short and funny, and was hooked instantly.  The second season just started last week.  It's funny, but also very sweet and emotional too.  And Hannah is a hoot!  All the characters are really cool.

There's an article and video on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette website.  I had used up my allotments of articles in Chrome, but used Firefox to see it and the video.  The video is GREAT!  Clay and Patrick Cassidy play off each other well!  I'll put the full text in the news section, and hope that someone can capture the video.

Heh. That's about the only time I DIDN'T like "the hair."  I'm normally fairly easy going about his hair/looks, but I just didn't think that long blond hair looked good on him.

Hannah seems so cool.  She was great in Spamalot.

Who is watching the Olympics?  I'm watching some, but not obsessively like I have in the past.  I think the pandemic has made me a little like "did these games really need to happen?"  Also, I was truly terrified for Simone Biles and her mental health...and now it seems like my precognition has come true, as she pulled out of the team competition.  On the other hand, I love the underdog stories.  The swimmer from Tunesia who barely qualified for the final, who ended up winning gold?  That was amazing, and I was so happy for him.

I too was worried about Biles.. you could tell her heart just wasn’t in it. Just said yesterday the weight of the world was on her. I never thought she would pull out tho- really missed that big smile this time.

I think the best part of these Olympics is the commercials.. inspiring!

I'm a little  more concerned about Clay’s hair. I just realized that he was grey a few weeks ago, then went dirty blond during the Calissa slickback.. and then a week later grey again 🙃 I don’t like the grey personally but now I’m just worried it’s gonna fall out l!

I had a weird coincidence today!  I’m trying to get a receipt for a donation and having a bit of trouble.  The woman called me tonight to apologise and she mentioned that her ex was  British.  It turns out I knew him back in the late 80s.  He worked for my husband and he took my daughter and I to a Rolling Stones concert!  (Where my child of 11 got a contact high and was quite ill). What a small world?

What’s even more cool is that you took ur 11 yr old daughter to a Rolling Stones concert! When my daughter was 11 she was attending Clay Aiken concerts with me 🤓🤓 A trifle more pure..

The eighties were an awesome time for sure!

She’s seen most of the 80s bands.  When she was 15 she made me drive her to a dodgy part of Houston to see the Sex Pistols! We even went to see Michael Jackson……50,000 screaming pre-teens!  She loved it and guess who wished she had ear plugs.

More recently she’s seen Beyoncé and Adele and her favourite group…They Might Be Giants.
